The Vacuum Zone is owned/operated by an older gentleman who is like the Yoda of the vacuum cleaning industry. He can tell you when different brands and technologies were introduced to market, and he can also tell you which of these are sought after and which are problematic. He can extol the virtues of the old-school Kirby and Hoover vacuums from the 1950s/60s, and he can tell you why many/most of the current brands/models are inferior, manufactured with built-in obsolescence, and offer no manufacturer support for replacement parts. Maybe you won't believe that your high-end Dyson falls into that category until you walk into his store and see dozens of them lined up awaiting repair! I know from experience that most vacuums need an annual tune-up to work optimally, so I was bringing my 18-mo-old Dyson (gulp!) in for service since the suction wasn't as strong as it once was. Without even opening 'er up, he could predict what the likely issues would be and how much it would cost me. I remember hearing "roller brush clogged/tangled", and something about a cyclone not working, and my eyes glazed over. Cool, cool...I don't need the engineering specs, that's your wheelhouse. You've won me over on your technical knowledgeability...just tell me how much it'll cost and when you'll have it ready for me. $200 (ouch!) and ready by the end of the week. He gave me a service ticket, and I went on my way. Friday morning, I called the store to see if it might be ready since I was passing through the area again, and he said it was. Perfect. When I picked up, there were probably 10 more vacuums lined up for repair than there were on Monday. The owner again was very nice and personable, chatting me up about what he did on my vacuum and why I was lucky some thingamajig didn't need replacement (bc that would have added another $100 to the bill). I noticed the sign that said repairs are warrantied for a period of 90 days, which is more than enough time to endurance test the new parts. There aren't many vacuum repair places left these days, and the owner showed me a few repair tickets from customers who drive over an hour away to bring these vacuums to him! Luckily it was only 20 mins from my house, so that's not bad for a (knock on wood) annual tuneup. Rest assured, you'll be in good hands with Yoda here. You'll leave learning a thing or two about why bagless vacuums are notoriously terrible and possibly reconsidering your future choices when you're in the market for your next one! read more

We tried to take our Hoover to be repaired here after Hoover said it was an authorized repair company. Despite the fact that Vacuum Zone's site EXPLICITLY SAYS no appointments required, after driving 30 minutes to get here they told us we needed an appointment and there was no availability for 2+ months. The employee was terse and rude to my wife. When we pointed out their website says no appointments required, they dismissed it and told us service was only guaranteed to their customers not Hoover's even though they are partnered. In short: extremely rude staff, false advertising, dismissive of customers. Find yourself somewhere else to go. We'll also be reporting them for false advertising to the Better Business Bureau. read more

Ok, for arguments sake say we realize, "By appointment only", It's another issue entirely when a customer calls and ISN'T TOLD, THEN DRIVES OVER AN HOUR just to be quoted the policy. My personal experience at Vacuum Zone has always been the best! I purchased my last two vacuums there and have yet to need to replace them. I've been a customer for over 15 years and have relied on them for any needed repairs and servicing. The owner is very knowledgeable, kind and has always greeted me like an old friend. They wanted $150 to "service" my vacuum, which was slightly less than the vacuum cost. There was nothing wrong with it -- that was just for a cleaning. When I said I didn't want to spend that kind of money, they charged me $40 because they looked at it, which he had not mentioned when I dropped it off. In today's throw-away economy, why keep buying cheap vacuum after cheap vacuum when you can purchase one decent brand and keep it running, with a little servicing from time to time, for many years? Our Dyson is at least 15 years old and has led a hard life between 3 kids, an elderly dog, a number of cats, and many, many foster kittens. The Vacuum Zone has kept it alive and well. No longer can recommend. Sent my neighbors and countless friends here to buy Royal steam cleaners after I purchased and loved mine. Unfortunately, after I was sold a used MIELE that reeked of dog every time I used it my opinion lowered (btw, i didn't have a dog). I ended up purchasing a shark on line and my expensive MIELE just sat in my basement unused because it smells (he claimed he had rebuilt so I'm not even sure how this is possible). I tried bringing it back and when I explained the issue he said he "can not sell it to his customers." I was like, "wait a sec, I am a customer and you sold it to me????" Just so we are all clear here I was only able to use this thing three times before my disgusted husband asked me to just get a new vac on line). While I haven't had any issues with new items here I'd be very wary of buying anything used. Our 30-year old Kirby G4 vacuum stopped working, so we took it to Vacuum Zone in Burke, VA. Ahmad said the motor brushes were likely worn. We told him the transmission had problems and probably needed replacement. Ahmad is a friendly fellow and clearly knows his stuff. He had all parts in stock, which meant a quick turnaround. By the next day, he had disassembled the vacuum and gave us a quote for repairs. Ahmad said he could repair the damaged transmission (saving us money), but we asked him to replace it due to the age of the vacuum. When we picked up the vacuum just a few days later, he said he discovered another problem after he gave us a quote--a damaged front wheel assembly--but he did not charge us for this additional repair, even when we asked him to. Honest and helpful service! I brought my Hoover vacuum here for assessment after having some issues. They worked tirelessly with the manufacturer to fight for and get a full vacuum replacement for me! I was especially appreciative and impressed with this, as I had not purchased my vacuum from them originally, and it clearly did not benefit Vacuum Zone at all to spend their time working on my replacement. We have a Dyson monster and a peace near the canister had broke a long with missing one of the item used to reach high up that attaches to the hose. The gentleman that served us was very accommodating, and lucky for us he had the parts we needed. I did not find the owner of this store to be very helpful, and I feel that the service policies of the Hoover Corporation are terrible. I brought a Dirt Devil that I bought in May 2017 for repair under warranty to this store. I had the misfortune of losing the original receipt from Target, but Target was able to print off proof of purchase from their POS system. The store owner, with whom I had very unpleasant exchanges before, said he could not repair it without the original receipt. The next day I called Hoover to see if we could remedy the situation. They were not helpful either because they too wanted the original receipt. I can't be the only Hoover customer who has ever lost a receipt. Hoover needs better warranty policies, and the owner of this store needs to show more empathy and be more helpful. Hoover lost a lifetime customer over this stupid $50 dirt devil. read more

I work in the heating and cooling industry, and my vacuum is a very important tool. Losing the hose to my vacuum was a major issue. The employee I dealt with was extremely helpful and accommodating. He found the proper adapter for my vacuum and adapted a hose to my preferred length (hurting himself in the process). I found him very helpful and accommodating. I don't often write reviews but this man was honest, helpful, and went above what he was required to do to help me. He deserves recognition for his efforts. However I did not like the limited brand of product in the store. Great for help, but poor selection for new equipment. read more

Friendly service, however I bought 2 filters for my dyson vacuum (I only went after 1, but he convinced me I needed the other one too) and paid almost a 400% mark up over what I could buy them on Amazon. I love to support local businesses, but this is absolutely unacceptable. I'm so mad at myself for not looking online first. I just moved and had new carpet installed and needed my vacuum working ASAP. I'm sick that I paid $50 more than I should have. I try to patronize local businesses when I can. I needed a part for a vacuum. Called and was informed that the part was in the warehouse and could be in the shop the next day. Great. It turns out the price I paid was more than if I purchased it online. I asked for a refund for the difference the next day. Was informed that it was not possible because the item was a special order. Don't get how it's a special order if it's already in the warehouse. Would not provide a refund either. A sign in the store states that they honor competitors' prices for accessories for other vacuum brands (Miele), but not for the item I purchased. Needless to say, I won't be returning. read more

Stay away from this place! Hoover gave me this store/repair center as the closest Hoover certified facility to my home for a warranty repair. When I took my vacuum in, the owner was very unpleasant and informed me that he was extremely busy and I would have to wait for a warranty repair. He then told me that I could not leave my vacuum and would have to make an appointment to drop it off. The earliest date he would give me to even drop it off is three weeks away! Really!?!? A three week wait to even drop the vacuum off? Seriously? And how much longer would it take after that for the repair to be made? I have been coming to Vacuum Zone for several years now. The gentleman who runs the store is extremely knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating. The other day I brought my Miele vacuum in to repair a broken piece at 4pm but needed it for the next morning. He worked late into the night to have it ready for me at 10am the next morning. Extraordinary service! His prices are very competitive and he has always been able to beat Amazon prices. There is no high pressure sales. He is a very honest man that you can feel comfortable is telling you the truth, not just something to sell you a product. I brought my vac in for repair since it was not getting any suction and the guy told me nothing was wrong mechanically and it just needed a new filter, and it also needs to be "serviced". When I asked what servicing meant, he said the parts needed to be oiled and cleaned to maintain the vacuum and also "maintain proper suction". This would cost $50. I explained I didn't want to pay $50 as preventative maintenance for a $100 vac that also needs a $24 filter. So he sold me the filter and when I got home found the vac still did not work. I called Hoover and they diagnosed my problem in 1 minute, which was a simple clog in the main hose that I fixed in 5 min. If vacuum zone had just been honest with me, I would have paid to have them do the work. Instead I sensed some BS and walked away. I don't understand why he wouldn't just say "your vac has a clog and it"ll be $50 to fix it but I'll also oil and clean it so it lasts a long time for you." That's how an honest person talks to you. Do yourself a favor and call your vac manufacturer for troubleshooting help before you go to this place. read more

This was a great place to get my vacuum repaired. The vacuum didn't have anything wrong with it except it needed a new power cord after my puppy decided to chomp through the original one. Do not buy your Meile vacuum online, go here instead, an authorized Meile dealer who can provide you some professional advice and give you the best price at the same time. Hoover advised me to take my carpet washer here for warranty service. I had to make an appointment, but was determined to get my machine fixed since it was still under warranty! Amaad had me fill out the warranty repair request and said he would get back to me. I didn't hear from him for several weeks, so decided to call and find out a status. He told me he has not heard back from Hoover, but he would call and find out. The next day, Amaad called me back and said that he recommended a replacement from Hoover and they agreed. He said I should have the new machine by January 3, 2017. Much to my surprise he called back on December 29 and said the replacement machine was in his store and I could pick it up! I went down immediately and he gave me the replacement machine AND my old broken machine, saying I might need it for replacement cannisters, etc. He even helped me take it out to my car! Although it did take more time than I had anticipated, I saw how busy he was and figured he acted in my best interest in getting the machine replaced. First of all, I recommend this place hands-down. So much better than buying even the same products from Amazon or other retailers. I purchased from them last year and it was honestly my first time buying a "real" quality product. We have 2 kids and a pet and 1 of our kids has allergies, and wanted something that really worked well to remove the allergens and was easy to use. They were very patient with explaining the options, products, differences, pros/cons. We ended up buying BOTH a MIEHLE vacuum that works on hard surfaces and carpet AND a carpet shampoo machine. He not only gave us a GREAT price (i mean as good, maybe even better than Amazon) but also threw in a few other things (like vacuum bags and shampoo). The best part is almost a year later, our shampoo machine flat out broke. They took GREAT care of fixing it, replaced the hose and the hand-held component. And it was definitely much FASTER than it would have taken if we went through the manufacturer. They communicated well during the repair process to let us know they had ordered a part through the manufacturer and just days later it was ready for pick-up. P.S. We love our Miehle, it lays almost flat so you can vacuum under your bed, insane. read more

I was very unhappy with the service and product that I purchased at Vacuum Zone. I bought a very expensive Miele Vacuum and it was the worse vacuum I ever had. My friend had the same experience as I did. I have pets and it does not pick up any pet hair whatsoever and it is poor quality. Since this is the vacuum that was recommended to me as a pet owner I complained to the store manager and was told that there was nothing he could do except give me a very small credit towards another vacuum. Then he told me I needed a special attachment for pet hair which I purchased for even more money. THat attachement was also useless and now I am stuck with a useless vacuum cleaner and a useless attachment. I then went to Costco and bought a cheap Bissell vacuum for under 200.00 (the Miele was 800.00) which is wonderful and picks up all of the pet hair. This place is very expensive and has bad customer service. I do not recommend this to anyone. Do yourself a favor and buy a bissell at Costco or Target. read more

All it takes is one bad experience. I purchased a Simplicity vacuum in 2009 at this store along with the 5-year VIP warranty that provided for a free tuneup on the anniversary of the 2nd and 4th year. My first tuneup in 2011 went smoothly..no hassle, no charge. However, my 2nd tuneup in March 2013 did not go as well. The salesman denied the existence of a Service Plan, telling me that he would not be able to stay in business if he did not charge for service. Salesman also told me that customer sales records are not kept. When I returned to the store with the VIP Service Plan in hand, the salesman still challenged the terms, refused to call Simplicity customer service to confirm the warranty, and even after confirmation (when I called customer service via speaker phone), waived only part of the cost even though the whole amount was covered under the Service Plan. Salesman never apologized and snidely remarked that "I got what I wanted". The treatment I received was appalling. The salesman challenged my integrity and was unyielding. It's unfortunate to have to report, in light of the other five-star reviews. Hopefully this incident is atypical and not selective discrimination or gender bias. I won't be taking my business to this store. read more
