As good as it gets! I've never taken a vacuum to a repair shop but once my new Kenmore canister vacuums' cord and pedal needed repair, I jumped on Yelp to find a shop. My retractable cord was pulled beyond its limit and the stand/pedal had broken. Anyways, I called Lou in the morning and told him my problem. He quoted me for the repair and told me it that shouldn't take more than a couple hours to fix. Later that afternoon I pick up the vacuum and everything looks great! He even changed the bag for me! And, he offered a word of advice to us vacuum novices: don't use the carpet scented powders - it'll shorten the life of the machine. The price was fair (less than $40 parts & labor) but only because it just needed to be reset. Not sure what this ONE STAR review is talking about. Lou is just very straight forward. My guess is the ONE STAR'ER got him angry and of course he reacted. And I'm sure she played the "I'm the customer so I'm right" story. In Summary: when debating whether to replace or repair your Kenmore (or many other name brands) vacuum, go to NOVA Manassas Vacuum first before hittin' up Sears or Wal-Mart. These folks will give you free advice with no pressure to make a sale...unlike the other places. You might also walk out with a deal ;) read more

I wish I could give 10 stars because it is well deserved!! If you want a clean house, you need a real vacuum. And Charles knows his stuff. I was really anxious over the high price tag that can come with a top of the line vacuum but after Charles patiently dissected every part of the Miele, I was completely sold. He was really concerned about what I needed and which vacuum would be right for my house. He spent easily 2 hours with me making sure I was comfortable and happy. I was also really concerned about servicing such an expensive piece of equipment. Charles said a yearly service would keep my vacuum running great and I promised I'd see him in a year. So one year later after my husband used the vacuum to clean up drywall dust from a home improvement project (!!!!!!) I brought it to Charles. He remembered me and while we were both bummed about the mistreatment of the Miele, he assured me he would clean her up. He said I could have it back in an hour, which was a ridiculously awesome offer but my day was booked so I told him to take his time and just call when he was done. The next day, I could NOT believe how immaculate it was when I got it back. The scrapes on the sides where I'd dragged it across my baseboards were gone and ever speck of drywall dust was gone. The bar, which my toddler had jammed while he was "helping" was moving flawlessly. Not only that but new filters and a new bag are included in the price of the service. It had noticeably more suction, just like the first day I brought it home. It was a night and day difference. The shop is modest and slightly cluttered but these guys know vacuums. They actually care about their trade and their customers. I only wish I had more business to give them. Charles rocks!! read more

While putzing on Yelp, I noticed that I had originally written a raving review back in 2016 until a more recent visit, which is leading me to change my opinion on this business. Sadly, I cannot figure out how to delete my old review, so I am writing a follow-up review... I went in to fix an old Oreck XL. The guy working the counter then decided to upsell me on a new vacuum at a great deal, and if I did, he promised to fix my old one for free. The salesperson was good, making it sound like a great offer, so I decided to purchase one (and give the old one to my child in college). The salesperson even generously offered to put it together for me for free. Of course I agreed! I was walking to my car with my "new" vacuum when I looked down at the bar code on the vacuum and noticed the word "REFURBISHED" stamped across it. I immediately returned to the store to ask why I was being sold a REFURBISHED vacuum rather than a NEW one. The salesperson back-pedaled and said, "But it's like new... it's never been used. These are floor models." He even added, "Oh... I didn't realize they stamp the vacuums with that..." ?!?!?! How many clients has he duped into purchasing a REFURBISHED machine, letting them think they were NEW??? I was furious... he definitely knew that he was selling me a refurbished machine but was NOT honest by sharing that information. I should have known better, when I saw him pulling the vacuum out of a plain, non-descript box. Bells were ringing in my head, but I couldn't figure out why it looked odd. Trying to salvage the sale, the salesperson hastily tried throwing in additional warranty cleanings/repairs, etc. It was absolutely horrible. He was relentless. He even tried calling the owner to figure out what other alternatives could be offered (like another machine on the floor), to make up for the bait and switch. I continued to ask for a full refund which he finally did... unhappily. I was a customer for a long time here at the store, getting my vacuum parts and cleanings done. However, this one experience has ruined it for me. I will not give business to anyone who would sell me something without being completely honest. If he was honest from the start, it would be different. I have no problem purchasing refurbished items... but ONLY when I know that they are from the beginning. Buy at your own risk. The gentleman who owns this store did a great job repairing my Riccar vacuum. He replaced the cord, serviced the vacuum, fixed a broken cord wrap hook, replaced the roller brush, and even fixed the switch for carpet vs wood floor that we did not even mention was not working properly. He did it all in less than 48 hours. He was so kind to say we could even pick it up after the store closed, if we were running late after work. Really honest guy, who does great work. Right from the getgo I was told I needed to replace an expensive part and a service cleaning which would be half off and told the total would be xx amt. I felt like he was trying to fast talk all this stuff; and I said no to the cleaning when writing up my ticket. It just didn't feel right. I couldn't put my finger on it, but even without the service cleaning the total stayed the same... I'm pretty sure of what my issue was as my husband tried working on it, and I should have asked to see the old parts bc I'm pretty sure one of them was merely shortened and cleaned up and charged as a "display" part. If you want to charge me a fee for reusing a part, have the decency to not be dishonest; I'll gladly pay for work to fix it; but don't upsell me and think I'm not going to notice. As for the expensive part- no idea if I really needed it bc the suction on the wand was great; but he didn't test it and was quick to say I needed a new "clutch". I'm tempted to take the vacuum apart to see if the part looks new... So, buyer be aware. read more

What's up with Lizzy T from Fairfax? Even by her excited tone in the review you could tell she is sort of high maintenance. Plus she's from Fairfax, people here in the country (Haymarket) are a little more tolerant and reasonable. I love Lou and this place. I have "exchanged" 3 vacuums over the past 3 years and he has been nothing short of terrifically accommodating, respectful, educational, and fair in his pricing. Most recently, today I exchanged a lower cost US model vacuum I purchased from him back in August (due to a new carpet installation) for a German made Sebo, and because the price was a little more than I expected to pay, he apologized to me and threw in a couple of extra service calls and bags. I am a customer service professional having been trained by the best in the business (Nordstrom) and can only say good things about this location, this dealer, and in particular, Lou (and also the other employee- sorry I don't remember your name). If you are a reasonable person who wants good service that is rare these days, Lou and the Manassas VA location will fit the bill. read more

He said he would be closing a little early and could leave the part at an adjacent business. I decided to go that day and when I got there he was very nice and already had part set aside. Owner was very nice, had my vacuum fixed for me ASAP. Dog chewed through the cord, and he replaced it with a newer, heavy duty cord. Very impressed by his work. Never in my life have I been treated with so much disrespect. At the top of his LUNGS, with a violent and aggressive tone the store manger screamed at me "How many times do I gotta tell you I wont accept your trade-in!!!" and that he has more important things to do. These are clearly fake reviews from the company's staff. The owner was extremely disrespectful and actually kicked me out of the store. When I asked him if he sold Hoover or Orek vacuums he told me they were "Chinese crap" and he doesn't sell them. When I told him his website advertised those vacuums he got so upset he told me he no longer would take my trade or offer the slight discount we negotiated on the new vacuum. Then as soon as I began to speak he kept saying "goodbye, goodbye, goodbye..." As he stormed to the back of the store. Been going here for about 6 years. Bought our Oreck here, a floor model about 2 yrs ago. Went there yesterday at 10 am, posted opening time, but it was not open. Went and did some shopping nearby, came back, still not open. Ate lunch came back, not open. Later around 5 pm my wife called and mentioned the store not being open, the man on the phone was very rude. Apparently had a bad day. We took the vacuum in and the man there stated he couldn't do warranty work on Orecks any longer or tune ups... Apparently he is not an authorized Oreck dealer. I started to say that if someone had been there in the am or if he had told my wife over the phone I would not have wasted my time bringing the vacuum to his store for warranty work he promised he would do when we bought it. He proceeded to tell me I had an attitude his nephew went int the hospital and I must leave and never come back. North to worry sir. I won't. PS. I bought a new vacuum from somewhere else. read more
