The springs were naturally stunning. The pool is large, and I appreciated the gravel bottom! There are two small pools with hotter water, should you want to soak in them. We went in the middle of June during the day, so it was warm, not squelching, but warm enough that the main pool temperature was warm enough. There is a vintage bathtub that sits below the main pool and is filled and recirculated by the water draining from the main pool. This water then feeds into a stream, which joins the river. Sitting in that bathtub with the view of the little creek has become a core memory! I would love to see this place in every season! Truly feels like a place pulled from 1800s Bavaria. This is a true outback experience, no showers, no modern bathrooms. These are well-maintained and equiped built in porta potties, with locker rooms for changing.

I could definitely see myself coming back for an overnight stay next time. That said, some of the features listed on their website don't quite match what's actually there. The "bar" is basically an open Gatorade/Coca-Cola setup with a fan behind it -- more like a refreshment station than a bar. The game room, though, was surprisingly nice for what it has and adds a fun touch to the place. I was a little disappointed when I wanted to grab a beer and found out glass isn't allowed (which I totally understand), but it would've been nice to have another option. On the positive side, the place was clean, the pool was great, and the hot tub was super relaxing. Sitting there on a crisp autumn day in the mountains -- you really can't beat that view or that vibe. The meditation music was excellent. The service was nothing special. They did their job. They gave me a basket. They took my money and told me have a good day. Overall, Zim's is a solid 4 out of 5 for me. The only times we've experienced crowds is on a holiday weekend Saturday. Otherwise for skiing it's pretty tame, much more so than Bogus Basin which we avoid now. My kids have had great private and group ski lessons here. The food options are limited and we generally bring our own snacks and drinks and eat at the truck on a ski day but they do offer tasty ice cream which my kids love as a treat after a long day. We usually stop at the coffee shop every time which is pretty good but nothing to rave about. It really depends on the staff. Pizza is a good deal as a large pizza can feed our whole family lunch. We've also been in the summer and it's even more low key. You almost wonder how they stay open but man, the beauty here is just gorgeous. Renting boats through their marina has always been easy and the teens who work there are always polite. Tamarack is a resort that we will continue to support for years to come.

After getting this news, we scheduled our free weekend for our wedding since we were getting married in McCall. We stayed at Tamarack for the night of the rehearsal dinner and for the wedding night. I have been staying here about twice a year as a part of a dog training group for last 5 years and it has been a great experience until last weekend. We arrived Thursday just to be greeted by a loose 100+ mastiff dog with no owner in sight. The mastiff went to immediately challenge several dogs in our group. The owners of the dog would not control or confine the dog and it continued to go after our dogs. The owner says there is nothing she can do. There is also a lot of poop everywhere as multiple dogs run loose on premises. Food is poor quality and it takes at least 3 order corrections to get remotely what you want. (I ordered a cheeseburger and got no cheese or burger just bun, tomato and lettuce). One of the dogs we had was a service dog helping a person with disability and the mastiff went after a service dog, there was no choice but to spray the dog as he did not respond to compressed air correction. Both owners of the dog, employee and the owner were warmed that if mastiff comes after a service dog, he will be sprayed. When that finally happened an employee and the dog owner had threatened to spray a person with bear spray and then later to kill them. The owner of the establishment has got into her car and left. Our entire group renting 10 cabins have packed up and left immediately while police was coming up. We last been here September 2025 and it was still a nice a place but not anymore.

Our group had a wide range of experience, ranging from never been camping to frequent outdoorsmen. The seamless way the guides made everyone feel safe, entertained and active during the trip was amazing. Larkin, Issac and Chuck are a dream team for sure. I cannot thank them enough. Arriving to camp each day with tents set up and shaded canopy waiting was great. It allowed us to not worry around set up and enjoy the river, and get some fishing in. The food was 5 star that we were over the moon about. We left wanting recipes but were so amazed on the freshness and preparedness MRO provided each day. No hot dogs on sticks here for sure. The Mundo Hot Spring Debacle…read more Nancy has been wanting to visit Mundo Hot Spring for quite some time so she got us a reservation several weeks in advance for Oct. 15. She reserved a small cabin with a private tub and a privacy fence. Check in was 4 p.m. and check out at 11 a.m. Nancy said there was a cafe and we'd eat there. We got there and we were showed around. It was a nice looking place. There was a microwave, a small refrigerator and a small heater. We got into bathing suits and into the hot tub we went. It was pleasant enough. When we got out I went across the street looking for food and came away with some very overpriced snacks. Nancy said there was a restaurant and left to go get a menu. It wasn't quite a restaurant not even a cafe. She came back with a menu for Turkey, Beef or some other kind of sandwich and a chef's salad. Pretty piss poor pickings. I had beef she had turkey. I could have made a dozen sandwiches in the time it took to get two. They were mediocre at best. We filled our bellies and bedded down for the night. About midnight, I got up to turn on the heat, no joy, the damned thing didn't work. At 3 a.m. we were both freezing. I plugged the heater into every electrical outlet in the place - - nada. By 6 a.m. we'd had enough. I started to truck to warmup while we gathered our things. Heated seats were never so good as they were that morning. We made a quick stop at Dutch Brothers for coffee and arrived home a little after 8 a.m. Nancy called the hot springs and was given a "We're sorry to hear that." No offer for a day pass. No offer for a free night - - nothing. So we had a reservation, waited weeks to go, and for all of the trouble of freezing our butts off, we got a "We're sorry." That's about as close to "We got your money and you can screw off" without actually coming out and saying it. That was Thursday morning. Nancy said she thought the lady she dealt with, after having some time to think about it, would come around to make it good. So this morning, Monday, I asked her if she had heard anything - - Nada! There was a time when no business would risk their reputation on such shoddy public relations. I guess that time has long passed. Take a Hard Pass on Mundo Hot Spring.
