Eidt to add: the hotel did try to reach out, but didn't leave a voicemail, and when she called back again, she left a voicemail, so I was able to talk to someone and get some resolution, but they did try to reach out via email and she wasn't able to send it. The highlight of the trip was the golf course and their excellent guest service, along with Patrick at the outside golf course bar. We arrived and learned we didn't get the correct room with any kind of view, and the ski lift is broken. I bought the trip insurance but I don't think it covers disappointment. The whole place is CASHLESS. Trying to buy a hot dog on the golf course was annoying as her internet wasn't working, but thankfully she let us play through and pay for it on our way back by on the 13th hole. The only place for dinner Wednesday was Seven Devils. You have to have a credit card to buy a beer and you have to pour it yourself, and pay for the warm foam. It's a ripoff. There was a kid sitting at the actual bar. We each had the chicken gyro that had overcooked, dry, stringy chicken thighs. Our server said she loved them but usually got steak. That option wasn't on the menu and no offer to fix it when we said the chicken was bad. Our beer was supposed to be charged to our gift card, but they charged it to our credit card. Rendezvous was supposedly open Thursday but we were told we probably wouldn't get reservations and we went into Donnelly to eat instead. At the "resort", the pizza place, the diner, and midway restaurant all closed. Didn't check the creamery. Most of the shops seemed closed. They advertise it as a resort with dining and shopping but that isn't the reality. There is no where for a sit-down breakfast. The coffee shop has breakfast sandwiches that are served on a soggy English muffin or plain bagel with no bagel upgrade option as they come premade and are reheated in a toaster over. Since our room water is brown, I wanted a coffee hopefully made with better water and real cream. The website says it's 99 cents for drip but when you get there it is $2.99 for drip. Our floor is sticky and dirty, which is especially frustrating since we pay so much for cleaning. I can't walk barefoot. The clock on the oven started flashing in the middle of the night, after I thought I had set it, and nothing seems to work to set it correctly. I had to cover it with a towel. We set our thermostat to 68 before we left for golfing and dinner, and our room was 74 when we got back and it has a funny smell, like flooring chemicals or something. Tried to turn it down our first night in the middle of the night and couldn't get it to work right then either. It seems very finicky. Our toilet runs constantly but doesn't make noise, just wastes tens of gallons of water a day. There is a dog that barks every time we come and go, but thankfully it is quiet at night. I have emailed the check-in office about all of it and have not heard back. I tried to call and there was no answer. I requested a partial refund and have not heard back either. For two nights our room (studio, not a suite), with no view, brown water, and a funny smell with a toilet that runs all the time was about $650 with fees. Our golfing with club rental was about $460. We spent a lot of money here and expected a whole lot more than what we got for over one thousand dollars in costs. Also, there is no where to buy bottled water after 7 pm. Sevin Devils gave me some in to go cups from the soda gun, but it had the same tint as our room water. I did find a water bottle filler that had a filter and the water looks clearer. read more

We owe Tamarack a huge thank you for this weekend... my fiancée and I decided to stay there back in November. After our stay, they sent us a survey with a chance to win a free weekend. I filled it out honestly and then a couple months later, they reached out saying we won the survey! We won 2 free nights in a super nice suite and $400 in credit. After getting this news, we scheduled our free weekend for our wedding since we were getting married in McCall. We stayed at Tamarack for the night of the rehearsal dinner and for the wedding night. We've been coming to Tamarack for a couple years. Last year was our first time with a boundless pass and my kids absolutely love skiing at Tamarack. We love how quiet the resort is. The only times we've experienced crowds is on a holiday weekend Saturday. Otherwise for skiing it's pretty tame, much more so than Bogus Basin which we avoid now. My kids have had great private and group ski lessons here. The food options are limited and we generally bring our own snacks and drinks and eat at the truck on a ski day but they do offer tasty ice cream which my kids love as a treat after a long day. We usually stop at the coffee shop every time which is pretty good but nothing to rave about. It really depends on the staff. Pizza is a good deal as a large pizza can feed our whole family lunch. We've also been in the summer and it's even more low key. You almost wonder how they stay open but man, the beauty here is just gorgeous. Renting boats through their marina has always been easy and the teens who work there are always polite. Tamarack is a resort that we will continue to support for years to come. read more

It is a beautiful village with easy ski in ski out. Everything is close and staff is friendly and always willing to help. The condos are spacious and fully equipped with kitchen so great for us. We're a big family and love spending time together but definitely do not feel cramped. Has a very nice fitness center and plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy. This spot was the site of a friend's wedding. We didn't stay in the resort but we're able to witness their care in her reception and the lovely way they made her event flow without a problem. We loved their catering options and the food was delicious! They had a buffet but were able to also take special orders for those of us with special dietary needs (vegan and gluten free). I was impressed by the flavors and choices and didn't leave at all hungry. Their effortless way of making the event run smoothly both in set up and tear down were also great. Went to the coffee shop with friends, it was busy but not too bad. Within all my 6 friends getting their drinks I had to wait an extra 20 minutes for a caramel macchiato. I went up twice to the girl with red hair, asked if they lost my drink and she told me very rudely that's she sees it and she's working on it. Then proceeded to wait another 10 minutes to go up again for her to raise her voice at me that she's working it right now. Overall waited 30 minutes for a drink watching people who weren't even there when I got there get their drink. Every other employee was nice but the girl with the red hair needs to get her attitude checked. read more

Great runs! Very clean, everyone friendly. I fell hard and broke my wrist and couldn't find anyone for over a half hour plus, was hesitant to get back on my board with the obvious fracture....so, in pain, I had to climb down and drove myself to urgent care at the base of mountain, which was by the way, was a wonderful (Donnelly Urgent Care) experience. One young lady who works at the urgent care said they would likely reimburse me the $95 for my lift ticket and $61 for rental costs since I couldn't find any help when I was hurt. I called to inquire after thinking about it for bit and they turned me down. My poor rating it isn't about the reimbursement of the money as much as it is about how long I could have been laying there if the injury were worse. read more

I want to love it but I can't. My wife mentioned after today's visit you always say we are never coming back here. They keep repeating their mistakes. Let's pay bands to play all day on the 4th of July weekend but close all the restaurants. We headed into the seven devils tap house but they told us it would be an hour wait. It used to be a self order service option. But now they added a full service bar but don't have enough staff to fill all the tables. The triple D diner closes at 2 pm right when the music starts going. If I was going to run music fest I would tell the breweries to get up there have a tent available and get some food trucks. No beer or food available. I do not think they have been maintaining the trials to what is expected. Jug and bear basin are so much better. Fireworks 8 minutes really. The Leighton family again put you to shame. That's a family not a multi million dollar resort just saying. Not to mention the osprey meadows $149 no way jug is only $65 and in way better shape. Again trying to find the hatred from the local crowd. I am sorry but we have a place next to tamarack and find ourselves disappointed every visit. Just go to the other outdoor options they can't seem to make a good decision. read more

The idea of Tamarack is great but the execution is not quite there. It is set up to resemble a Sun Valley or Schweitzer but the infrastructure does not support it. The snow and grooming isn't great, road coming in to the resort is a sheet of ice, lift line waits are some of the worst in Idaho, and dining is rough (just received our cold pizza because the beeper didn't work, despite confirming it was working because the restaurant seemed like it was run by a toddler). I've been coming to tamarack since when it originally opened the first time and it seems it just keeps getting worse and worse. read more

played golf at Osprey. The layout and views were outstanding. The course needs some work. Fairways very uneven ant the greens were pretty and well kept but didn't roll true and impossible to read. checked in and paid ( expensive) and asked for a couple of gator aids. Was told they had no snacks or drinks and that i should check at the village. Really!? Also a Beverage cart would be out there. well the person called in sick and no one was available. No drinks or food all day. ps there were 24 of us. They are touting to be the next Aspen. Not even close. $150.00 round of golf and I have to beg for a bottle of water. Been living here for years and never Skied first time out at tam to try skiing and I was blown away !! The shops are amazing, the slopes are perfect for any age or level of skier, the lifties are friendly the staff is good. Had a ski patrol guy help me down bliss because my daughters literally took me up to the top on my 4th run thinking I could make it. Tom was super friendly and helped me down no judgement !! It had a coffee pot without mugs or glasses to drink coffee out of. When we called front desk and asked for mugs they told us we would have to buy from Rendevous instead. Who has a coffee pot without mugs or glasses to drink from and then tell us we had to pay for that?!? I guess they expect you to drink directly from the coffee pot? Then our neighbor kept us up all night because they have NO sound proofing between rooms. Kids screaming all night. Would NOT recommend!! And not staying here again! read more

There are many great ski resorts out in this part of the country but it's not all about the skiing. All the runs were very well groomed and the run layout was very well planned. The lifts were fast and I loved the express card. I was able to pay for the first day online, scan a QR code at one of the many kiosks which gave me a card that I put in one of my gloves. For the rest of the day I only had to hold my glove near the lift gate and it opened up for me and it worked first time every time. The next day I just had to keep the same card in my glove and it automatically charged another day to the same credit card simply scanning it at the lift! It doesn't get more convenient that that! However, part of what made the experience particularly enjoyable was the extraordinary people they employ for the lifts. Lets face it we all want to ski all day and don't want to wait in line or even ride the lift for that matter but Tamarack's lift lines were like parties, fun music and super friendly and encouraging staff made Tamarack different than any other place I have been. read more

If you like seeing your real estate agent drunk on the village floor in the evening, join the Tam Fam! Do not go to Tamarack Resort if you care about how employees are treated where you spend your money. Employees struggle to pay rent living paycheck to paycheck with the wages and lack of housing. Management is disrespectful and apathetic - they're seeking "yes men" rather than collaborators. There is minimal terrain for beginners, and no steeps for experts in bounds. This review is for their zip lining! My friends and I had a blast up here a few weekends back. We decided early on in the summer that we wanted to give their zip-lining course a go this year. We booked our trip for the last weekend of August and it was perfect. It was a bit chilly right when we got out of the car, so I was tempted to keep my jacket with me the whole time. Our guides encouraged me not to, and I'm glad I listened to them. All that to say, expect to heat up while doing this course! The gist: We went on a weekend so we got to take their chairlift to the top of the mountain to start the course (if you go during the week, you have to take a van up). This course has 8 different zip lines and two suspension bridges. You'll zip over gran views that overlook mountain ranges, through trees, and over creeks. Every single zip line has a beautiful view (just take a look at the pictures I shared from this experience)! Our group of four was paired up with another group of three. Between all of us and our guides, it took almost three hours to do the whole course. The price point was about $113 including tax, but not including a tip (be sure to tip your guides!). Overall, for the fun and adventurous experience this was, I'd say it was absolutely worth it. We had a blast! read more

this place is freakin magical. i have now stayed here twice in a "chalet" or cabin, not sure what they call them, and it just the best experience no matter what time of year you come. obviously on season- meaning during summer months or winter months- would be the most ideal, but I have stayed both times in the off season- fall- when the trees are all turning and the clouds roll in with a little rain and it's 50 in the day and 30 at night and it's perfect in every way. the resort itself is well maintained. there are a few restaurants within it including a pizza place, a coffee shop, a little village market, and I believe a taco shop and a brunch place- but those 2 are only open during season. lastly, the hotel on the property has its own restaurant as well. that's also a full functioning hotel, separate from the chalets. lots of options here. it's so quiet and peaceful here. we light a fire in the fireplace and have coffee out on the wrap around porch overlooking big trees and cascade lake, and go in the hot tub under the stars. this is an introverts paradise vacation. if you wanted to stay in the exact one I stayed in, it's located at "16 staircase court- donnelly idaho". overall, I could not recommend this place more. I leave happy and refreshed and relaxed. I wish i could live here all the time. read more

Tamarack Resort - Rusty water - Resorts Near Me - Donnelly, Idaho

Horrendous customer service. I have been up at Tamarack a few times prior to this to go skiing. Always had a pretty good time, even with the poor early season conditions in January 2024. Decided to try the mountain bike park with my family. We got a late start so did not arrive to the resort until 11:45. But that should still give us a good four hours at the resort, right? Well we got a nice first run in, I really enjoyed the trail design. Much longer runs, and less dusty than Bogus Basin. After that first run we all had lunch at the bottom at the Seven Devil's Tap House. Great service there and the food was good. Although that is when things took a turn for the worst. Just as we are about to head back onto the lift at around 1:30, we are told that they are on a half hour hold due to thunder. Which is annoying, but the resort cannot control the weather so understandable. Although we were venting our frustrations a touch about only getting in one run with the guy who let us know the lift was closed up by Seven Devils. He said if we only had one run, we should be able to get a refund. At the end of the half hour, the lift was just starting to spin up, when we all heard more thunder. Another half hour of waiting, at least. Fortunately, the liftie was very understanding and happy to talk about the issues with lightning, the resort in general and other questions we had. He had mentioned, just like the other guy, that if you only have gotten one run in, and their are some extenuating circumstances, you should get a refund. Which totally clicked in my brain because I have seen similar situations at other resorts, like Whistler Blackcomb. My friend fell up there on his first run down the mountain, and ski patrol had to sled him down. They also ended up also breaking one of is skis. By default, they refunding him for his ticket, and replaced his skis, even though the whole situation was my friend's fault, not the resort's. The resort took responsibility so the customer could have the best experience possible. I wish I could say the same about Tamarack's customer service. After hearing that it should not be too big of a deal to get a refund, I went to the ticket desk to ask about it. I politely told the woman working at the front desk about our situation, and if it was possible to get a refund. Although it seemed like she did not listen to a word I said, and replied, "It is against policy to give a refund." I was perplexed, everyone else I had interacted with at Tamarack had been very gracious and understanding. Even if she said that it was normally against policy, but she could do a 50% refund, I would have left happy. I understand that the resort does not control the weather, but $70 to ride a lift once is not reasonable either. I asked her if there was anyone else I could talk to, she said the manager was not in that day, so I could talk to Tyler who would be up in the bike shop. I went up there, but Tyler was not there. Tyler came back about ten minutes after I started waiting. I reiterated my situation to him and he, at first, seemed a lot more receptive to my grievance. He told me he would go talk to the lady at the front desk to see what he could do. He offered me and my family bike park tickets for the future, but that was just the three weekends left in the season. My family was going back to Seattle, so they would not be around to take advantage of that. When I brought that up with Tyler he started to use the line, "It is against our policy." I started to get a little frustrated, but I did not raise my voice, and stayed respectful. I tried to explain how I understood his point of view, but at the same time, is it fair to the customer to have to pay for a lift ticket, and not get any usable compensation for only being able to go up on the lift once? Tyler again said, "It was against policy to refund due to weather and that he saw I bought the tickets at 11:45am. I am not sure if he was trying to imply that I was lying about how many times my family had ridden the lift. I described how my sister was a novice biker, so we took our time on the first run, and that we had gotten lunch after. Then he said, "I don't control when you have lunch." I am really not sure what that had to do with it at all. But I assume Tamarack would like people to spend money to buy food and have a relaxing time. I asked Tyler if there was anyone else I could talk to, he said we all could call his manager on the phone. We did, and I reiterated for the third time, my issue. She was about to tell me there was nothing she could do because of policy, until I said the liftie said a refund should be no problem. Immediate tone changed and I got my refund. I am not sure what the problem is with customer service training at Tamarack, but I hope this is a good lesson and that customer service is improved if I choose to go back to Tamarack. read more

Mountain management 23-24 ski season has been terrible, awful, disappointing regularly. Here's just one of many examples: The season is officially over on Sunday, April 7. Weather has been warm and snow has been melting, but we got a foot of snow overnight so YAY! a few more days of skiing! April Fool's on us I guess. It's a Friday so it's First Tracks which opens half our early, 8:30am. Waited in line at the Tamarack Express, base of the mountain for almost 2 hours before the chairs started running. They were not prepared to manage snowfall at the bottom of the mountain? And then there was only one ribbon groomed on lower Serenity. They claim it was too warm (worn-out excuse). But more likely is that they returned two of the three snow cats so couldn't groom the mountain. Brilliant management! Top of the mountain probably won't be open at all today as we've heard no bombs up top. Pitiful. read more

Don't bother. If you want to ski small independent resorts in Idaho, spend your ski money at Brundage or Soldier Mountain. Tamarack has many double fall lines, hidden headwalls, unexpected rollers, and at least two cat tracks that go uphill. My ski buddy said it was like skier cross on every run. And the grooming was not great - lots of missed areas, ice cookies, and sharp edges. Plus the base area is odd. The phrase "Trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear" came to mind. Maybe it's supposed to look like Whistler - but Whistler works because it's a world class destination ski area. Tamarack isn't. I suppose if you are learning to ski, you might like it. read more

The location is beautiful as would be expected. They were struggling with staffing as many are during these challenging times. They have very significant operational issues that just can't be overlooked even with the beauty of the mountains. Prior to the stay the reservations were a huge challenge that included mix-ups; overbooking; and unauthorized charges all related to a wedding that was being held there. They charged my elderly mother's credit card $1,612 for a charge that was not related to her room and that they were not authorized to charge. The only authorization she had provided was for a hold for an upcoming reservation that she had approved for $325. She attempted to get the issue resolved; disputed it with her credit card company; & they did then credit back the 1 charge that they had created the issue with. Unfortunately with the error in the processing, she then had a charge that has remained on her card for $1,286. I attempted to assist her with this distressing situation and received extremely impersonal assistance. In attempting to work through this with the resort it has been a disaster & the last contact they committed to calling me back by the end of the day with information from their finance manager as to how they would resolve. There has been absolutely no further follow-up or contact since that point. They were very proud that they have booked weddings/events for every 3 days through the end of October as they shared, yet they are unable to assist in resolving a situation that they created by charging a credit card with no authorization to do so. I would not recommend this venue for hosting or attending an event. read more

We visited Tamarack for their zip-line tour and had the BEST time! 7 of us went on a 10:00am tour in Mid July with Claire and Kyra as our guides. It was a beautiful 70 degrees when we started and climbed to about 85~ when we finished. There were shady and sunny spots on our hike. HEADS UP Our group had a fun time because we read the website and prep-emails that had CRITICAL information in them BEFORE we arrived! Here's the scoop: Either wear your own hiking boots (proper ones that protect your ankles) OR swap out your shoes for the one's Tamarack provides for free. They have a huge range of sizes, even as small as 5.5 (which is what I wear). PROPER HIKING SHOES ARE ESSENTIAL because the hikes between lines can get quite steep with gnarly roots and loose dirt. If I had wore running shoes or my Tevas I would've had a bad time, no doubt. I wore close-fitting denim shorts with a 5" in-seam which was just enough to keep the harness from chafing my thighs. Length is what's important. We had a small track bag with a fanny pack and standard size Nalgene water bottle in it. I almost brought a fanny pack with my phone and wallet, but decided against it and was happier to not have to carry a bag. I absolutely recommend minimizing the amount of stuff you take, and if you must bring a camera, you're probably best off assigning one person in your group as photographer. Take advantage of the restroom at the resort BEFORE you head up the mountain!! I unfortunately had to pee halfway through our trip, and one of our guides helped me take the harness off so I could find a spot off the trail while the group walked ahead. Wasn't a huge deal, the guides said it was no problem, but I felt bad about holding up my group. Our guides were super friendly, and clearly had high expertise and confidence in the course. Any time someone was nervous about getting stuck halfway on a line they explained what a rescue would look like which made the more timid folks in our group feel safe. The scenery while we were hiking (about 2.4~ miles total, according to our smart-watches) and zipping was incredible, even with some smoke from far-away wildfires obscuring the mountains. We were under the impression that there was a Mile High Cantina at the top of the lift. Evidentally it is closed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. If we had known that, we would have taken water up with us and actually hiked. We couldn't even get water at the top. It was very disappointing. We ended up going back down and eating at the only open restaurant in the village. Our meal was very good; we were just expecting to eat at the top of the mountain. read more

The grooming in Tamarack has been horrendous this year, compared to 20/21,21/22, and 22/23. The liftees are great, very courteous and professional. Mountain Ops have been bad. Bad grooming, or no grooming at all. The mile high Cantina, is not open many days, like one of the Days on Martin Luther King holiday weekend. We had to ski over rocks, for the first 45 days of the season, because, two snow makers are down. Showtime has never been groomed, and no snow making, except on the bottom. read more

We booked a rental from June 8-11 online. No issues. We were looking for outdoor activities that we could access in a small area. The lodging looked nice online. The price was not inexpensive, but not overly expensive either. So we showed up and it seemed that we were there the first week they were opened for the summer season. All the workers were not sure how to do simple things. We got to our house (Misty Mountain - HCL84 ) that we were assigned. When we walked in the front door, the floor had leaves and dirt everywhere. The counters had a nice layer of dust and it looked like noone had been in the home for quite a while. Not freshened for a guest? We checked out the hot tub and it had many of leaves, grass and dirt floating around. Outdoor furniture was all dirty also. OK, not a problem. I called the front desk and asked them for someone to help sweep the house floor and a pool net so that I could skim the hot tub. The front desk said (hesitantly) that they would have maintenance come down. Maintenance never showed up. We found a broom and swept the entire place. We avoided the hot tub. 2 of the three shower heads needed to be replaced as water would only come out of half of the head. Clogged with minerals. The activities were good. Again, the boat house didn't have single person kayaks, since it was the first day. It seemed like we got that excuse a lot during our stay. Made me feel bad that we came that week. Zip line was awesome. Ax throwing was great. It just seemed like they were not ready for guests. Lots of construction trucks and construction people. Seemed like we were in their way. Most restaurants/shops and other facilities were closed. (lame) If they weren't ready, then why allow us to book online for that week? Also, if you shop at the little grocery store, get ready for the incredibly high price. Bring your own food. You'll thank me. Will we stay there again? Probably not. We will find a different place that has their act more together. read more

am a disabled veteran with years of ski resort work experience. The Hr department at Tamarack was shockingly disrespectful and failed to handle my hire on paperwork in a timely manner. The Hr departments disorganized approach left me feeling undervalued and frustrated as a potential employee. The HR departments poor communication and unwelcoming demeanor create a negative impression of the company making it difficult for qualified individuals to join the team. Potential employees should be aware of these challenges when considering working there. Without an experienced crew people get hurt and trails don't open. And it's hard for managers to handle their jobs when HR makes their lives more difficult. read more

Our first experience at Tamarack and I hope this honest review will give some feed back to the right people who can make changes happen. 1st easy to get to from the Treasure Valley! We made it in 2hrs. 2nd Beautiful location and the views are amazing! Parking easy with shuttle services and great drivers! 3rd great deal for the Express Card! If you're like our family we like to experience different resorts and this fits the budget! 4th the restaurant 7 devils pub had great food and wonderful service and they were very busy! 5th chairs were quick and hardly any lines. 6th If I'm being honest in my opinion there weren't enough wide groomed runs. They had some wider runs , but mostly powder skiing from what we experienced and with a young family that skis intermediate runs it was tough finding runs we really liked. 7 we like the long runs, just wish they were wider and more groomed. We'll probably be back as we would like to give it another chance. read more

My mother-in-law needed to stay here after her camper broke down on our vacation and they took such good care of her! The staff had an opening in a bigger room and upgraded her at no cost. The view from the rooms and hiking trails are gorgeous! It's still under construction, so the price is very reasonable. The staff shared how much they like working there, which I think says a lot. read more

WOW! - Deer Valley like groomers - Utah quality powder - Heavenly like views - High speed chairs - No lines Cannot wait for the village to open in 2021-2022. It's going to feel like Vail without the crowds and at half the cost. PS. Snowmobiling was unbelievable. read more
