It is a beautiful village with easy ski in ski out. Everything is close and staff is friendly and always willing to help. The condos are spacious and fully equipped with kitchen so great for us. We're a big family and love spending time together but definitely do not feel cramped. Has a very nice fitness center and plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy. Finished writing my first book on my last trip there and started working on my next book there. Great place for peace and quiet but also for activities and fun. Best of everything.

Been living here for years and never Skied first time out at tam to try skiing and I was blown away !! The shops are amazing, the slopes are perfect for any age or level of skier, the lifties are friendly the staff is good. Had a ski patrol guy help me down bliss because my daughters literally took me up to the top on my 4th run thinking I could make it. Tom was super friendly and helped me down no judgement !! Def going again

There are many great ski resorts out in this part of the country but it's not all about the skiing. All the runs were very well groomed and the run layout was very well planned. The lifts were fast and I loved the express card. I was able to pay for the first day online, scan a QR code at one of the many kiosks which gave me a card that I put in one of my gloves. For the rest of the day I only had to hold my glove near the lift gate and it opened up for me and it worked first time every time. The next day I just had to keep the same card in my glove and it automatically charged another day to the same credit card simply scanning it at the lift! It doesn't get more convenient that that! However, part of what made the experience particularly enjoyable was the extraordinary people they employ for the lifts. Lets face it we all want to ski all day and don't want to wait in line or even ride the lift for that matter but Tamarack's lift lines were like parties, fun music and super friendly and encouraging staff made Tamarack different than any other place I have been.

We farm and ranch and are not uppity people. I used to rodeo many, many years ago and stayed in some pretty questionable places, but now I can honestly say that this is by far, the worst place I have ever stayed. It wasn't worth $50.00 per night, let alone $170.00 per night. By the time the owner remembered to call me back, we were already being charged for the next day and she said it was too late to leave without keeping the money for that night and would not refund us, so we stayed. From the moment we walked in, the room reeked of musty mildew. It was so strong we went to the store to buy air freshener, but it barely helped -- the odor was baked into the room. The shower had visible mold all around the floor and base of the walls. It was black in some spots, and clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The bathroom was completely impractical -- no counter space to put toiletries, and no closet or dresser anywhere in the room to store clothes. We were forced to live out of our suitcases on the floor. The chairs look like they were throwaways taken from a dumpster. The cabinet above the stove is grease stained from not being cleaned. The sponge for the kitchen sink was wet and moldy. Even the pot scrubber was separated and needed to be thrown away and replaced. There are no knives, spoons or forks. One of the worst things we found was in the bathroom cup holder: a used razor blade cover was underneath the stacked plastic cups, and the bottom of the holder was filled with what looked like dried toothpaste spit. Absolutely disgusting and unsanitary. Even the light fixtures had mold speckled across the inside and cover lenses. Everything about the room felt damp, dirty, and neglected. There was food under the edge of the bed, clearly stating that the floors had not been swept in some time. We texted the owner pictures of everything -- including the mold, the razor blade cover, and the filthy cup holder -- and received no apology, no offer to switch rooms, no refund, no discount. Nothing. To top it off, we went to get ice at 1:00 p.m. and found the office locked up with the "OPEN" sign still lit, and no one answering the door or phone. This wasn't just a dirty room -- it was an actively unhealthy and unsafe environment. It's clear the owners do not care about cleanliness, guests, or even basic hygiene standards. In the email we received for checkout, the owner asked us to leave a review so here it is. I wish I could attach photos.. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else.

The Elkhorn B&B has, if anything, gotten even better since my last visit. Debra, the…read moreowner/innkeeper, has expanded her flock of goats and now is mastering the art of goat cheese and milk-making, selling her creative chevre combinations at local farmers' markets and offering advice to would-be artisan farmers (or wannabes) along with her signature ranch house breakfasts (think fresh eggs, hash browns, melon, sausage, and excellent dark rich coffee). She's also a fountain of knowledge and great conversationalist, and her elegant ranch home quickly feels familiar within the first few minutes of arrival (once you open the gate and bounce along the gravel driveway to the barnside parking). This time, I decided to get creative and took a sunrise hike before breakfast to the summit of nearby Council Mountain (8126 ft.) in the Payette National Forest. Admittedly, it was a bit of an adventure, with fallen Ponderosa pines (the good Samaritans have chainsaws in their trucks up here), black bear cubs, a great grey owl, kestrels, and a herd of free-ranging cattle, and I didn't get back until 11:30 am, so my breakfast was an early lunch. But the chance to see the mountains from an exquisitely rugged vantage point made the 12-mile morning trek worth the effort. The food and company that Debra provided after were most welcome. You don't actually need to do a hike like that to have a good stay at the Elkhorn (or bring along French wine to drink on the patio while watching the lightning and rains come in at night). You could just hang out for a while and soak in the hip ranchhouse atmosphere while goats, horses, sheep, mules, chickens, dogs, and other creatures wander about. It's definitely a pioneering sort of place - a 21st century version of a Western American classic, with WiFi and goat cheese included.

What a wonderful experience, Debra made us feel right at home with a warm welcome!
