I have mixed feelings. The biggest plus is the location. It was nice to be located in the middle of town. The room was clean and beds were pretty comfortable . They could be a bit more generous with their soap, shampoo, etc...as we had to ask for more soap the first day. Most hotel rooms have small fridges but not here. We really could have used one. We had a little problem with getting charged when we checked in... which we didn't expect. read more

Absolutely perfect location right on the lake! It is walking distance to many cute shops, activities, and restaurants in McCall. The hotel's hospitality was amazing from providing a complimentary drink at the bar looking over Lake McCall to setting out warm cookies in the lobby at night for guests to eat. Nice downtown location, beautiful antiques in the interior, and great restaurant (Rupert's). However, we stayed only one night, and barely got any sleep. Imagine if we stayed a week. We we had a very loud guest as a neighbor who decided to play his music loud at 11:15pm. When I called the hotel clerk, she said she'd "take care of it". Music continued, so I rang back and she said, "I called and nobody answered." I said, "that's probably because the music is too loud. Can you please come and knock on the door and tell them to turn it down?" And she replied... "Why don't YOU knock on the door?" (unbelievable!) After I shamed her into going up herself, rather than "Hotel McCall allowing its guests to get into confrontations with other drunk loud guests", she knocked but nobody answered. The guest did some yelling at his girlfriend, the shower turned on, and the music finally....stopped of its own accord, no thanks to the rude hotel clerk. After this, the doors kept banging all night around this old hotel, often slamming many times in succession (what's up with that??). All the beauty and charm went out of the place after the rudeness of the clerk, and the fact that we barely got any sleep, even with 2 sound machines. We had to cut our trip short because we were so exhausted. Thanks Hotel McCall. The "continental breakfast" is a joke: you have to pre-order what you want, like, say, a hardboiled egg, some OJ, and a small greasy commercially made muffin, which they hand to you in a paper bag in the morning. Coffee was cheap diner quality and weak. The bed was plenty large (California King with lots of pillows), but there was no bedsheet between the blanket/comforter, which is a first for me. Makes me wonder how sanitary the place is (do they wash their comforters after each guest visit?) The room was decent. Body wash dispenser in shower did not work. We wanted some bottled water, but they only sold it in a vending machine for $2/bottle. We bought 2, and the machine ran out. So it's tap water unless you want to make a late night jaunt to Albertson's. Oh, and you have to haul your own luggage up to the 2nd floor if you're in the "historical wing"--which means, your window probably faces the main, loud entrance. Ugh. read more

This remodeled historic hotel with just 19 rooms is a jewel in western Idaho for the price. In the heart of downtown McCall with many great places to eat. Free parking. Indoor pool and fitness center. FREE wiFi and cont breakfast. Hot water and great bath or shower. The drive to the North along the Samon River is breathtaking from location. Hotel near edge and marina of Lake Payette. The staff knows how to run a hotel. STAY and tell them Sam on Yelp said so....a grest night of rest. My only issue for older folks is the jetted tub which is 18" high so a big step to get in. read more

Hotel McCall is a charming hotel in the heart of McCall. I've drove by this hotel for years and have never stayed there until my friend booked a room over the 4th of July weekend. This hotel was built in 1904 and since then the rooms have been remodeled. The staff are extremely friendly and every night they serve complimentary beer, wine, cookies, and milk. They even have a library of dvd movies both new and old, fitness center, pool, and each room has a jacuzzi. The only downside is that the continental breakfast was lacking...they only served the basics such as toast, muffins, yogurt, bananas, and coffee. Thankfully Fogglifter is next door for those hearty eaters. The other downside is there's no fridge in the rooms to store drinks and food. But overall this hotel was worth the stay! read more

Spend the extra money and stay at Shore Lodge. Booked one night here. My husband thought to extend the stay but they needed us to change rooms. They said it would be the room next door but that room wasn't ready by the time the guest came for our room. Mind you it was only 12 pm. Instead of having the next guest wait until check in. The manager barged into our room demanding us to stay in a similar room across the street. At this point I requested to cancel the room swap, the point of staying was to avoid packing up all our items into the car. The Manager at first understood and agreed. I have 3 children and one being a newborn I began fully packing this is when things went from bad to worst. The manager came in and started to clean the room with me in it. The couch bed they remade with the same sheets we had just used. I made a comment about the sanitation of that choice as she began making the main bed in the room the same. The Manager began to get angry. I made a comment about speaking to a manager about the lack of sanitation they were "cleaning with before the next guest and she stated she is the manager and highest up I could speak too. She then said if I leave a review she is going to charge me for the second canceled room now. It was a misuse of power. I began to understand why the staff seemed so miserable. Switching hotels was the best choice because the second hotel experience was beyond amazing and we ended up extending our vacation an extra week at the other resort. read more

This place was so rude as to put a warning for parking in a parking lot for the businesses as if They controlled all parking in McCall. So sad that you are Chasing away business in the area. A piece of history in the McCall area. This hotel is quaint and very quiet even though it rest in the hub of downtown McCall,Idaho. The lake view is incredible and the dining is wonderful. Be sure when checking in that you make time to dine at Rupert's. The hotel is wonderful and you truly feel like you are at a Bed and Breakfast not a large hotel. It's very comfy. Hotel McCall is also wonderful about giving back to their community. Recently supporting The Donnelly Public Library. Their community first love is certainly felt. Hotel McCall is a must! We came in late Thursday afternoon and was a walk in. Requested a two night stay and was given a nice room with a discount for first night and the hotel clerk said the following night would be normal price. We thought what a bargain and was given a nice large room with full kitchen. But we where working from "home" in the hotel room and at 11:30 got a phone call from the front desk telling us we need to get out. One of us hadn't even showered and both in the middle of working in our computers. They couldn't move us to another room because sold out. You think they would have given us something towards our next stay. So we had to find other accommodations for the rest of the weekend. Not pleased. I have worked in several hotels and resorts and would have at least given out a partial credit towards a future stay. read more

Perfect location near many restaurants, shops and lake-front sidewalk. They did a great job renovating the Hotel. We enjoyed our Courtyard Standard King Room overlooking Bin 45 Restaurant dining area which was shaded by large trees. We enjoyed listening to the musicians playing for Bin 45's guests. We eventually went down to the courtyard and thoroughly enjoyed dinner at Bin 45. The next day we discovered Hotel McCall's Restaurant called Rupert's Restaurant. It is beautiful inside there with gorgeous views of Payette Lake. We will try the restaurant on a return trip and definitely stay again at this Hotel. read more

Read this if you are looking to do a Ski and Stay package through Hotel McCall, which includes 2 lift tickets: I just spoke to someone on the phone about the ski and stay package that I booked. I found out that the more expensive room I purchased (the only one they had) did not qualify for the package and that I would have to pay additional for the lift tickets. No one notified me of this even though I booked weeks before our check-in date. The Christmas gift to my husband has now been canceled, they were not willing to add the lift tickets. read more

We had a delightful stay at Hotel McCall for 3 nights. We are very picky travelers. We stayed in Unit 212, one of the two luxury lakeside condos. So glad we splurged for that. Wonderful view looking out. The unit was very spacious and comfortable. Enjoyed the gas fireplace. Our whole stay was wonderful. This is an older hotel that is in a fabulous location, perfect for walking around town. We made dinner reservations for the onsite restaurant, Ruperts - highly recommend. The hotel has a continental breakfast that you order the day prior and then pick up in the morning. We were glad it included protein options such as yogurt and hard boiled egg. We went swimming in the salt water pool one evening - had the whole pool to ourselves. Hotel front desk went the extra step when our fireplace was not working on day 2, and quickly got it resolved. Appreciated the cookies being put out each evening. We will be back! read more

Complimentary drinks are provided during happy hour and cookies are served in the evening. McCall isn't a busy town, so in the evening enjoy picking out a free movie from the front desk. I was shocked to find all the latest titles on DVD and Blue Ray. I selected a few new Oscar winning screenplays and spent the evening watching them. The staff was friendly and inviting. We enjoyed every minute at this beautiful hotel. Not only is it built on the best spot in McCall, it's so perfectly laid out to be welcoming and relaxing no matter what time of day. Views of the lake and mountains are spectacular. The deck outside Rupert's works great at lunchtime or evening for lakeside dining. The food there was delicious. The staff were at ease and always on the ball while adding to the welcoming vibe that is everywhere here. The rooms are impeccable. My favorite spot was the Italian town recreation complete with Bocce courts and the Bistro. Morning, noon and night this was a sweet place to meet and relax over coffee and snacks. Location is unbeatable but the traffic at all hours is very disruptive and does not allow for a very restful night of sleep. The room, however, was comfortable and inviting. The restaurant staff; friendly and attentive. The front desk host, while fairly dry and moderately impersonal, was accommodating when we needed a room that allowed a small dog for which we did not reserve. The traffic is the majority reason for the 3 stars, which I acknowledged is beyond their control, the inadequate parking; the dirt shared lot behind the hotel is the only available parking and the continental breakfast, while free, could use some improvement. There was no coffee or cream upon arrival. I had to flag down a staff member to assist and there were no clean plates. We had to put our food in napkins. Overall I was mildly disappointed. read more

My husband and I came here on their ski and stay deal. Check-in was easy. The front desk is super flexible. We were able to drop in the morning of check-in to pick up our lift tickets and drop off our luggage before heading to the mountain. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom had a jet tub which felt remarkable after a long day on the slopes. The front desk offers over 300 DVDs that you are able to check out and watch in the privacy of your room. I've stayed in a lot of places, but I think this one is by far my favorite. The rooms are nice, quiet, clean and comfy. The hotel is beautiful: it's a historic hotel right across the street from the public beach at Payette lake. There is a boccie court outside, surrounded by local restaurants and coffee places, under shade trees. The pool is beautiful but small, surrounded by faux-grecian columns. there is a super common room with puzzles, games, comfy furniture and a cozy fireplace. The art collection in the hotel is fabulous. Someone has collected prints and originals, all of animals, 19th century life, etc which adds to the beauty of the surroundings. The restaurant is fabulous for dinner, try the steaks. The complimentary breakfast is standard fare or cold cereals, bagels and fruit, but ample. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. read more

My sister and I happened upon this hotel on a visit to McCall. We had decided not to book our hotels in advance to make our trip more spontaneous and flexible. This hotel sparked my interest because it is in the heart of McCall next to the lake, steps from shops, grocery, and restaurants (they have a nice Albertson's right down the street!). We were able to book a room last minute because it was during a spike in cases of the Covid pandemic. Unfortunately, there was only a covid breakfast (cold grab-n-go with high carb options only), so we bopped on down to Pancake House, which serves a fantastic breakfast and has a cute little gift shop attached. Our hotel was perfect for the season, right before Thanksgiving, and we loved the gas fireplace in the lobby family room. Our room was clean and charming. Our bathroom had the most wonderful jetted tub, and sister and I each had our own Jacuzzi bath with plenty of hot water. Lovely! The staff was very nice, especially the older gentleman who gave us all kinds of information about the area and navigating the winter roads. We choose this hotel because it feels a bit like a mountain lodge only less rustic. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it, although I suggest you bring your own pillow. Also, we noticed that the mattresses seemed to be covered in plastic and it caused us to overheat and sweat a bit. Course we are two menopausal women, but we didn't sweat in our other hotel beds. Every time sister rolled over at night I'd hear her creaking and squeaking on that mattress pad! You might want to request a room that is not on the road side because trucks driving by all night were very loud. But other than these small issues, it was a wonderful hotel. read more

My wife and I stayed one night here recently in room 205 which has a king bed, a jetted tub in the bathroom and a private balcony. The price was reasonable at $143 (including taxes), the mattress was comfortable and the room was on the small side but clean and quiet. We liked the artwork in the room. However he balcony was dirty and had no lake view because there's a building in the way, so the hotel's claim of a "filtered lake view" is misleading and disappointing. The bathroom has been updated with nice doors, counters and sink. My wife was bothered by the crinkly mattress cover but I didn't notice it. The front desk staff member that night was helpful and friendly as was the host of the included continental breakfast. The location next to the lake and in downtown was very nice. We walked just across the hotel's courtyard and ate dinner at the nearby brewery. The hotel has been expanded and remodeled over the years and is a little quirky in its configuration and decor but we liked it. Cookies in the lobby at night is a nice touch. If the big box hotels aren't your thing and you're looking for comfort at a fair price, the Hotel McCall is a good option. read more

Maybe I'm not the best authority on what a hotel is supposed to be like, being more of a motel kind of guy, but I've gotten used to having things like water glasses and coffee makers in rooms, maybe a mini-fridge, etc. This place had no water glasses in the rooms. There was no coffee available in the lobby at 6:30 AM--I'd consider that a must for a place that's catering to people who are going on skiing or rafting trips. The room was relatively comfortable. I wish I could give the hotel more stars, but for the money we paid, it was sorely disappointing. It was our honeymoon, and I arrived on crutches due to an injury. There was some sympathy, but no real help, so my new wife hauled all of our luggage upstairs without help, while I hobbled up carrying what I could. We were staying Monday through Thursday, and hoping for room service, especially with my injury. The attached restaurant is closed Tuesday and Wednesday, so no room service. This would not be so bad if the website had said something, or someone told us when we booked, but that did not happen. The hotel did not offer to go get us anything, even though we would have been happy to pay a delivery charge. We went to use the pool, and the heater had gone down in a power surge. No heated pool, and again, excuses and an apology, but nothing concrete offered to resolve the situation. We really felt slighted. My wife went across the street to get us coffee, and the girls who worked there were very friendly. They offered their cell phone numbers and to bring us food if we needed it. Much better than the hotel, but suddenly the next day, our last, the hotel staff was more friendly and attentive. The room was okay, but smaller than I imagined. It was reasonably clean, the only reason this is a two star instead of a one star review. Since it was off-season, and we were one of a few guests, it just seems like the staff could have been more accommodating, especially at the price point we paid. Probably would not stay again.
