Let me first say, I'm not generally a fan of B&B's. My generalized experience has been that I feel like I'm intruding on all of the stuffed animals that have taken up residence in a bedroom. Being a man, I generally feel out of place and confused about where to sit, and what exactly I'm allowed to touch. In the case of the Cambridge House, I actually feel like I'm at home. The house is beautifully appointed and recently renovated, so it has all of the charm of the 1916 Craftsman that it is, without all of the pains of scalding water and creaking walls that I've come to expect from older homes. There are many cozy nooks in the house and finding a nice place to read a book is a true pleasure. Breakfast is prompt, tasty, and simple and the proprietor, Sheila, is a gem. It has some nice modern conveniences like free WiFi that make it easy for me to get work done while up visiting family. There are five lovely rooms, some pictures of which I have posted here. The rates are ridiculously reasonable. In short, if you're in this part of the world, this is the only place worth staying within 100 miles. We've been coming up here for almost ten years to visit family and we've tried every hotel and B&B within that distance. This is without a doubt the finest accommodation in the area, and is in a beautiful setting with some nice walks in all directions. Highly recommend anyone traveling through, or looking to get away for a quiet weekend. You won't regret it!

Nestled into the mountainside away from almost everything it sits peacefully. As I sit in the hammock chair on the giant covered deck sipping my morning coffee here is the picture I can paint for you. They have a couple friendly dogs who nestle at your feet as the breeze moves through the trees. The water irrigation can be heard over on one side of the yard while the chickens are talking to each other over on the other side of the property. I have a full belly from a healthy breakfast. Fresh eggs from the chickens with bacon and some fresh picked apricots and bagel. The owners are so friendly, they will happily get you anything you need.They work non stop to the entire place looking great inside and out. Our room is one of the two available. It is separate from the main house and below the covered deck. We have our own two queen beds, bathroom, coffee, Tv, and fridge. There is even other chairs and coffee table. However the place to be is on the covered porch. The sun comes up over the mountain and warms me as I breathe in the fresh mountain air. We already snuck off early this morning for a little fishing. I love how relaxed I am here. It sounds like they are steadily booked. Plan ahead to get in here, cause it's worth it.

I think my favorite part of the house is the mailboxes inside. They have two dogs and the black one is just the sweetest thing ever! The smell in the air of the pine and forest are worth every penny. Each room has a private deck with table and chairs overlooking the forest behind the lodge. Inside the main lodge is beautiful and clean, with a pool table and games upstairs. They also have cabins for rent and an entire house for larger groups. The cost is better than the hotels in town, and for the privacy and quiet, this is the only experience worth paying for. But if you need something, town is only a couple minutes drive. My sweety and I spent our evenings during by the pond, listening to the fountain and looking at the stars. The people here have been incredibly polite, friendly, and as helpful as you could ask for. I understand that ownership has changed hands in recent months, so don't give any heed or negative reviews. These people are not the same. Fantastic place! We HIGHLY recommend staying here. The kitchen is open to guests which I found amazing. When I arrived I was hungry but not for a full meal so I toasted a bagel and sat outside on the porch to eat it and listen to the birds. One caveat about the Rooster Room is the shower. You need to get the shower curtain arranged before you take a shower to avoid water on the floor. Otherwise, it was a great stay and the breakfast was wonderful, as well. It's definitely not your ordinary lodging.
