Unfortunately the staff don't wear masks. They don't enforce the customers to wear masks. Everything is served w disposable cutlery, cups, etc so they generate a fair amount of single use & plastic waste. (There isn't an option to have real cutlery and coffee mugs) Won't be going back until covid is taken seriously and they have non-single use waste options. read more

I would highly recommend Uwharrie Mercantile. They are Closed on Mondays! I have been twice in the last 30 days, enjoyed the French Dip Sandwich & the homemade Chicken Salad on a croissant w/ L&T + bacon, side of Pasta Salad. Everything has been delicious. The grill cuts off @ 2pm, so better get their early for lunch. After 2pm, can still pick up fresh pastries, drinks, etc. Within the last week or two, they have opened a Market in the 3rd room from the entrance. They have locally grown frozen meats(sealed) w/ the names that raised the products, from HB to Steaks, Sausages. Also refrigerated fresh homemade Chicken Salad(w/ no onions), Pimento Cheese, Soups in pint containers. Phillips Country Ham pre-packaged, several different casseroles, ready to take home. I thought I would try this shop/restaurant because I travel around North Carolina for work and enjoy finding local restaurants. This coffee shop/restaurant looked interesting so I decided to go for lunch. First, I stood in line for 15 minutes to order my lunch. But the worst part was I waited 45 minutes for a chicken salad croissant. I finally went to the counter and asked if I had not heard my name. When my food arrived, it wasn't exactly what I ordered but I was able to switch part of my food with the person I was with. The chicken salad croissant would not have taken 4 minutes to get assembled. The food the other person ordered would not have taken but about 10 minutes to prepare. Needless to say I was disappointed with the service. The food was ok but rather pricey. We spent $30 on one chicken salad croissant, one quesadilla, a tip and two teas! read more

She mentioned this cute new coffee shop she thought I would like. My first impression was WOW what a great small business! The barista suggested I try a Uwharrie Sunrise. It was very good. I usually go the cappuccino route but it was a nice change. The next day, I walked there to try a chai tea latte. Again, I was not disappointed. One of the best chai tea lattes I have ever had. The I was leaving town, I planned my departure based on when they opened for one last delicious beverage for the road. This time something new suggested by the owner the day prior..a dirty chai tea latte. My first and it was yummy! Found this coffee shop on Yelp before I went hiking at Uwharrie forest/Trail. I got an iced almond milk latte and it's the best one I've ever had, I wish I lived near this coffee shop! The price is almost as high as Starbucks, but that's what you get when it's a unique coffee house, so I'm happy my drink turned out delicious! The staff was very attentive to my needs and helped me quickly and were also patient when I asked questions. They had plenty of staff to do the job so my wait was only a minute. Also the ice was like "sonic ice" so it made more room for liquid unlike other stores where it's more ice than the beverage. I hope I can come back to this place for a warm drink next time! read more
