Then we sat on the steps and they shared more about the culture of coffee and try a couple of their blends. They also did an expresso demonstration after which i was too hyped up for more but it was cool to see them make it. The baristas were very welcoming and knowledgeable, providing a sample of the coffee (we were given a coffee from Burundi) , providing some information on their harvesting and roasting practices, and opening up the floor to an audience Q&A. Ambiance is very modern and chic and there are two bathrooms open to visitors in the facility. I would recommend going on time to the tasting if possible for the best seating/experience. The owners weren't slow to explain each cafe and restaurant from which I could find a cup of Foster Hobbs coffee served up to me nice and hot. They were so friendly! I was given a mini coffee lesson and watched some beans roasting as we spoke, trying to stay focused while the dark roast coffee smells wafted towards me. Yum. This is high quality coffee. They are in the top 1-3%, Specialty grade coffee (better than Starbucks) and the coffee is grown in a way that is environmentally sustainable. Ethical, responsible, etc. Five Stars popped up a few times from some very knowledgeable home roasters. I immediately stopped in and chatted up the employees (everyone I've met has been LOVELY as well as knowledgeable). I get the feeling they are all part of the family that owns the business (and the coffee importing biz right next door). My favorite bean has always been Sumatra, but I'm trying to find other beans that are similar that I will also like. The folks at Five Stars have given me samples of various roasts they thought I might like (I did) and their Sumatra is everything a stellar Sumatra should be. I adore this coffee company and their beans. I'm about to head over for my fourth bag!
