This bakery has really good reviews so I thought I would give it a try. Hungry for a sweet treat, I ended up buying 2 Crème Horns and a Chocolate covered Peanut Butter Ball. The Peanut Butter balls are delicious. The Crème Horns are delicious as well but filled with buttercream which was too sweet for my liking. A lot of bakeries use buttercream and I wish they didn't. The pastry itself was crispy, light and fluffy and topped with powdered sugar. They have a lot of choices of lovely decorated sweets, cookies, pies, candies and cakes. I was greeted by a young lady who was eager to check me out and move on with her day. The interior was as expected. Locally owned and operated. I can't wait to go back and sample more. I briefly stopped into this bakery, mainly because the town's most prominent restaurant was unsurprisingly packed. It had a very old-timey vibe and indulgent, saccharine baked goods. I elected to take a chocolate cream horn to go, which was more subtle than some of their options, but still quite indulgent. The inside was as creamy as the outside was flaky. I couldn't accuse them of delivering anything other than what they offer. read more

This place deserves ten stars. The staff are so polite and wonderful. Not to mention the beautifully crafted goodies are very delicious with great affordable prices, I loved every experience I've had with this bakery and I know I'll continue to. This is an amazing bakery in downtown Asheboro! Growing up, my mom would bring me by if I got a good report card. Today, I stopped by to get some sweets to celebrate Valentine's Day! Their design cookies are my daughter's absolute favorite--they were out of the plain but had the decorated dinosaurs (which are even better!) Over the years, we've had cakes and pies from Central Bakery and would 100% recommend. read more

THESE. ARE. MY. PEOPLE. They had icing pops. Icing. Pops. ICING. JUST ICING. In a push up pop. Why bother with the extraneous stuff when you can go straight for the goods? Well because the other stuff looked really good too. Got a couple of snowballs (tastes like childhood to me!), couple of sand dabs, small chocolate chip sandwich cookies, an m&m sandwich cookie and a Christmas tree cookie, the last 2 being for my kiddo so I can't speak to those other than to say they're very pretty. Of the cookies, the snowballs were my fave but all were good. I saw another review that talked about the cakes and that they could pick out the bakery's cakes by tasting the icing. To that I say, the icing tastes like what the Sweet Shoppe in High Point uses - and that's not a bad comparison at all! The prices were very reasonable as well. The most expensive thing was the icing pop at $3 (and well worth it!!). Got out for under $12 with everything. It sure is a good thing this bakery is 30 minutes away from home and not right down the street...but it will be a new go to when visiting Asheboro! 5 star bakery! Drove 2.5 hours to stop by this bakery to pick up coconut and chocolate pies for my Dad's 78th birthday. No one in my community makes coconut or chocolate pies which are my Dad's favorites! Bought 3 coconut 2 chocolate pies. Very reasonably priced pies. Ordered at 10am. Picked up at 3pm same day on a Saturday!! The coconut pie was incredible!!! Fresh coconut, light flaky crust. Didn't try the chocolate pie. It smelled like fresh baked chocolate chip cookies! There were a couple of standout items at this Asheboro bakery. The cheese bites simply melt in your mouth. They are light in texture, similar to cheese straws, but they practically dissolve on your tongue. They've got a great sharp flavor and highly addicting. If you're thinking of getting a dozen, get more! You'll eat 12 by yourself. The other star of the show was the Cinnamon Crisp which has flaky layers that are softer in the middle. Goes great with a cup of coffee. We got a bunch of other stuff, but these two are worth making a trip to get. read more

Little, simple bakery in downtown Asheboro. We stopped in here for some sweet treats after having lunch; this is one of the very few bakeries in this area. We decided on chocolate chunk, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and white chocolate macadamia nut cookies as well as an M&M cookie on a stick and a chocolate sundae treat. I loved the oatmeal raisin cookie; the raisins were plump & juicy and the brown sugar & cinnamon flavor was just perfect. The chocolate chunk cookie was not a favorite from two people in our party but everything else was good. Stopped by after our sticker shock from The Table Farmhouse Bakery down the road, glad we did. The oatmeal cream pie sandwich was fantastic and only $1.25, I should have gotten a few more. The pumpkin cupcake was very moist and the cream cheese frosting was excellent. read more

Yum. Just ... yum. I have ordered my kids' birthday cakes here since they were one (they are 6 and 10 now). I've never had a problem with them. They are delicious, and they can have a cake for you in a day. The staff can be a bit gruff sometimes, but get passed that, because the desserts are worth it!! read more

I just moved to Asheboro in April. And folks at my work love stopping by after lunch on occasion, and we've gotten cupcakes for an event. This place is wonderful. The staff is super friendly and personable! But the proof is in the pudding, tbh. Anytime I'm in, I get snickerdoodles for the house if not several other things. I've never once been disappointed. A nice little gem in downtown asheboro since 1945. A small place with mostly traditional bakery items (cookies, cupcakes, pies,etc). A very similar set of options like sweet shoppe bakery in High Point. I do want to note there were one or two unique items I have not seen before like a cinnamon swirl type cookie. I'm so sad to leave this review. I've grown up eating central bakery. For 27 years they have been so consistent with their cookies. However today was beyond disappointing. The icing that was in the oatmeal cream pie as well as the whoopie pie was slimy and did not taste like the usual recipe. I'm not sure if there is someone new in the kitchen or if they completely revamped the recipe but it's definitely not the same, nor is it good. Tasted like your usual powdered sugar icing and was runny like it as well. read more

Disappointed with the service I received here today. My fiancé went to pick up two slices of pound cake with buttercream frosting and was told they were out of buttercream but had Italian cream. As he has no idea about types of cakes or frostings he assumed this was another type of frosting and after purchasing and getting home quickly realized this was not a pound cake. We called the store for an explanation and to find out what kind of cake we actually received and they said it was an Italian cream cake, with pecans and cream cheese icing. Due to certain food allergies I am unable to eat this cake but the lady I spoke with over the phone said they can not take the already purchased cake slice back and they were already sold out of the pound cake prior to his arrival, which made me feel even more that they were just trying to push for a sale by not disclosing they were sold out of pound cake that he requested. I am just really dissatisfied in this whole experience and will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Returned at about 215 yay, and happily walked right up to the counter to order my lunch, when I was told they were out of carved turkey (the way the server explained it sounded like an ingredient in the Reuben was out, not the actual turkey. I asked if the "simple turkey sandwich" had carved turkey, and I was told no, it was deli meat-deli meat is so processed and unhealthy. I was super disappointed. So I opted for a Smashburger after asking how they liked it and she said it was "delicious". Well, it's not a Smashburger. It's a double burger on a nothing special bun. I was going to take the bun off and eat it with a knife and fork, and I was looking for those yummy crispy edges on a authentic Smashburger. They didn't exist. This was a double cheeseburger with very thick patties. I think they were grass fed so kudos to them for that,, but it was incredibly dry sadly, and when I saw that the bun had been toasted with butter, I put it back on and had a couple more bites, but was super disappointed-and trust me nobody loves a great cheeseburger more than I but now I love smash burgers as well!. I also ordered the Orzo cucumber and feta salad (as well as the french fries) on the side and while it was OK, it was nothing special. French fries were just meh. After all the stellar reviews I had I was very surprised that they would make a double cheeseburger and call it a Smash-burger-I wish these restaurants would stop doing that, it's misleading, other restaurants do this too. And for the money I spent, I should've just gone to Shake shack! I DO think it's worth a second chance, and I will say everybody there was very kind on the Service level and it's an adorable, really beautiful spot and vibe ! I strolled around and looked at the merchandise afterwards. So hopefully I'll be back but just super disappointed I didn't have a nice meal and left hungry.
