This was my first time at Utopia Nails &Spa. The receptionist was very nice taking my information and the process was simple. The only thing that would have made my experience better would have been if more things were explained to me about how the process is at this establishment. For instance, I saw there was a little bar and read on the rotating tv screen that refreshments were available. I was not asked or offered nor was anyone else who came in after me. I also wasn't aware that there was a nail polish "room" so when the technician came out to get me he stopped right outside the room and asked me to pick a color. I felt a little rushed to pick one out and felt bad because I waited about 10 minutes for my appointment to start and could have spent that time looking for a color. I just picked one that caught my eye and then we went back to the pedicure area. The pedicure room was very nice! Nice ambiance, music and lighting. The massage chair was nice. I know at most nail salons, the technicians and customers may talk during thier service, but this is not something that is really done here because it's intended to be a relaxing moment. So if you like to talk with your technician while getting your pedicure, don't be surprised if that doesn't happen because it doesn't seem like that is the vibe they are trying to set. I asked for a male technician and my request was granted. I don't remember him clearly telling me his name before we started. I did feel like he rushed at some points but did take his time when painting my nails which I appreciated. The massage was nice and longer than at most other nail salons. There was a lot of focus on my calves I feel as opposed to my feet. I wish he would have spent more massage time on my feet and my arches and did more massage techniques than the one motion. Another suggestion I have is for there to be somewhere for customers to hang their belongings (coats/purses) when that are getting their services done. I had to put my coat over n the chair next to me and my purse on the floor next to me. Maybe putting like a coat rack or hooks on the wall behind the chair would be nice for the customer. After my service, my technician Carried my shoes and coat out to the waiting area. I asked him what his name was and he pointed to his name on the ticket he gave me and said his name. Not impressed by this place at all. I checked in for my appointment on time and was taken back 12 minutes after by a different tech than I booked with. My total time for gel pedicure was 35 minutes. I am not sure if this is standard as the appointment is booked for 45 so they include 10 minute for polish selection? The massage chairs are alright, not the best. The pedicure seemed very rushed and there was not attention to detail. It looked fine in the dim light, but once I was outside and able to examine closer, the polish was not applied smoothly and is on my cuticles in some areas. The massage was okay, but pressure was light. Tech was nice and polite though. I also see some reviews mentioning drinks, this was never offered. Absolutely impossible to get them on the phone to cancel an appointment, but they charge you a cancelation fee. Booking online doesn't mean you will get the tech you booked with. They can make you wait 10 minutes plus for your scheduled appointment, but will charge for a canceled appointment if you are 10 minutes late. Called ten times in a row to cancel my appointment and still couldn't get through to anyone. read more

I absolutely love going to Utopia. My main technicians to see are always Romeo or Iris. Whenever I have services done by them I always leave happy. The owners remember who I am and are always very friendly. If I've ever had an issue with something while in the middle of a service I only have to ask and it's fixed, they've had to deal with my klutziness more than not when putting my hands in the curing lamp. Beautiful space with a nice ambience, and there are definitely a few great techs here -- but unfortunately, the inconsistency and poor customer service outweigh that. The first time I had a bad experience, I was honest when asked how my service went. I said "not so good," but my response was brushed off. I also submitted feedback through their online customer service link and never received a reply. I decided to give them another try and booked a different tech I'd heard good things about. The first time she did a decent job -- not very personable, but my nails turned out close to my inspiration photo. The second visit was completely different: she was super unwelcoming, rushed through the service and was really sloppy. She hit my skin with the rotary file multiple times and never apologized. In fact she seemed annoyed with me when I flinched. She also got snippy with me when I suggested the color she chose was off and said it would look different when it dried. It didn't. The nail art (which was simple) looked nothing like the inspo pic -- honestly, it was embarrassingly bad. This time when the woman at the front desk asked how everything was and I told her a she was very kind and offered to have the tech fix my nails, but given the attitude I'd already experienced, I didn't feel comfortable going back in. She did help me remove the excess topcoat that had been left all over my skin, which I appreciated. I planned to reach out to management afterward to see if the accent nails could be redone -- but once again, my messages were ignored. I ended up filing off the design myself and applying polish at home just to get by until my next manicure elsewhere. Sadly, despite the nice environment, the lack of professionalism and customer service means I won't be returning. read more

I went with a friend for pedicures. We both had very bad experiences. My friend had a gel pedicure and they left the edges of her nails so jagged it looked terrible. They tried to fix it but it was not better. While cutting her cuticles they made it bleed. So she has to ask the tech to stop. And my tech cut my big toe so short that it close to bleeding and is very tender. And for a place that seems to promote a calming environment , it was overall very busy and stressful. I am beyond disappointed with our experience here. My boyfriend and I came in expecting a relaxing pedicure, and it turned out to be one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've ever had at a nail salon. The man who did my pedicure was extremely rough and aggressive with my legs and feet. I honestly feel like I might end up with bruises. A pedicure is supposed to feel soothing, not painful and irritating. I was tense the entire time, which completely defeats the purpose of going to a spa in the first place. On top of that, my boyfriend's pedicure was done carelessly and his nails look terrible (I've attached photos so you can see for yourself). The polish is uneven, messy, and looks like no effort or attention to detail was put into it. We paid for a service that should've been relaxing and well-done, but instead we left frustrated, uncomfortable, and unsatisfied. I'm furious. I had to cancel my pedicure due to a family emergency. I called before my appointment, spoke to the receptionist, and she rescheduled me for another time. Later, I get a text saying I was a "no show" and would be charged a $22 fee. When I attempted to dispute it, I was told that no matter the circumstances, that I would still be charged. So apparently, compassion and customer loyalty mean nothing here. I've been a dedicated client since day one, but this is the thanks I get? I even asked her to look up and tell me how long ive been coming to this 2nd location (im not even counting the 1st location the years ive gone there). In 5 years at this new location i have only cancelled 1x in 2021 and 1x in Feb of this year... but they have a zero care or compassion. The manager April is rude. Saying someone was a "no-show" to an appointment means they were scheduled to attend but did not show up and didn't notify the business or provider ahead of time to cancel or reschedule. I LOVE Utopia! This is my go-to place for pedicures! The updated building is cute and classy, the chairs are comfy, the nail techs are skilled, and the ambiance in the pedi room is very zen. Some of the perks: -can make an appointment online for either one of their two locations -pick your nail colors via 'look books' while lounging in the lobby -serves Starbucks coffee on-site -ample room to accommodate busy hours, parties, and groups -friendly staff -pedicures are done right and so are the mini massages that come with them -pedi room is no talking/cell phone convos so it's more of a relaxing zen-like experience than those other places you may be used to read more

Ever since my friend introduced me to Utopia, I have been going here for my pedicures for well over a decade. The dark & quiet pedicure room and use of oil for the massage is what sets them apart from other places. They have 3 locations, but the Green Bay Rd location in Kenosha is my favorite. In this still semi-newly built location they have a coffee bar so you can get a caffeinated drink or water for here out to-go. I have never even lived closer than 45 from Utopia, but it's stilly go-to place and worth the drive. Tip: If requesting a certain staff member during your online booking the drop down selector does NOT work. You must write it in the comments section when booking. Critique: They recently switched from choosing your nail color by looking at the nail Polish bottles to this color swatch book. Viewing mixed up colors in this way is... ‍ If trying to compare a red to a red, you can't just hold them up against each other and it makes the indecisive, like myself, even more indecisive.
