Excellent bagels, lots of vegan options and fast service. My husband and I visit NYC at least once a year and we're always trying bagels of course. This was recommended by a friend who grew up on Long Island so we checked it out on this trip. Lots of seeds and toppings on the everything bagel and on both sides which is key. Lots of breakfast sandwich options including animal-free. If youre never tried a vegan egg& cheese breakfast sandwich - trust me you wont taste a difference. Some place I'll admit dont do it right but this place does hence the 5th star. Definitely top 5 bagel places. I still like a couple other on the UWS better. read more

Honestly surprised this place does not have better reviews. I find the bagels very tasty and a great price for the city. Got the breakfast platter with many eggs, breakfast potato's and a bagel for $12! A deal for the city! Here for the bagels! What I got a couple of bagels. I got the Nova Tofu CC on a Rye. The bagel was great, the nova wasn't for me... So I ended up getting a Rainbow bagel with strawberry tofu CC. This was really food but I was full from the first bagel! I am a little bummed that it wasn't toasted though, didn't know that I needed to request it (yes, not a NY regular). I also got a couple of bagels to go and these were delicious as well. I am definitely more a fan of sweet bagels. Enrionment This was located right off 34th. The inside is quite big, there are quite a number of seating available but it def seemed like a more take out place. Niceness of the staff Patient enough staff even when they were a bit busy, but bummed that I wasn't asked if I wanted to get my bagel toasted... Dollar The rainbow bagel was surprising a premium.. the other bagels were $2. My Nova CC was $12 and the CC bagel was $6. Yes? I would give it another shot. read more

Tried it to see if the bagels were worth the calories. Nope. Sesame toasted with cream cheese. The bagel was like cardboard and got hard after about 15 minutes. They're lucky Essa bagel is moving a few blocks down 3rd Ave. Maybe the sandwiches will be better, the area could use a good lunch sandwich place. But the bagels, nope. This place has a long line but it goes by fast, there's limited seating so expect to take it to go. They have sooo many options, my friend got their egg bagel and really liked it so I'm gonna get that next time The Cheech ($12) - hashbrown, avocado, sausage, egg, cheese, so good their bagel is really chewy. would 100% get this again! I love Utopia Bagels because it's a classic-style bagel shop. It seems like it might have frills simce it'soutwardly modern and trendy, but when push comes to shove, it had a somewhat standard menu. Still, the food quality is nothing less than amazing. I usually get a nova-style sandwich with capers and red onions or an egg and cheese sandwich with a protein. Pumpernickel or plain. I love Ess-a-bagels as well, but Utopia has just overtaken in my book. The coffee is the best I've had at a bagel shop, perhaps some of the best anywhere. I'm not a huge fan of the line at Utopia, but as others have mentioned, it moves fast. The staff is top-notch. read more

Opens at 6am, early compared to other nearby bagel spots, with lots of seating and fast service. Ordered a BEC on everything and was fairly cold and then ordered the hobo on everything but came on a plain bagel. Got two coffees, a cold brew and an iced vanilla latte. HORRIBLE coffee! Cold brew tasted old and sour (coming from an ex barista) and the vanilla latte looked like an iced americano with mocha and a splash of milk. They had plenty of staff and the store was somewhat empty, so there's really no excuse for how poorly everything was executed. read more

I've tried multiple bagel spots in NYC and this is one of my favorite spot in Murray Hill to get a morning bagel before the morning rush. This is the first Manhattan located which recently opened June of this year. I usually custom order my bagel with tofu cream cheese spread since they offer a variety of bagels, cream cheese spreads, etc. The space is your classic go-to bagel spot that has a display of the bagels being made and there are plenty of seats to sit and eat your bagel. It is quite spacious since but it does get packed when a long line forms so do be mindful of that when coming to order at this location. Overall, highly recommend trying this spot if your a bagel lover or want to try a new bagel spot read more

Great bagels! Needs to add more cream cheese but they are great bagels. Just very busy

Yeah, utopia was the 1 spot on My new york trip that lived up to the hype. I ran to Utopia twice on my trip. I went with the sweet option both times. French toast bagel with birthday cake schmear. Let me tell: muah. The birthday cake schmear is incredible. Sweet, vanilla-y, and the sprinkles add great texture. The french toast bagel was great. Slightly eggy, with hints of cinnamon. So amazing. The 2 together? A match made in heaven. The service is quick and the kitchen is open concept. So, while waiting you get the opportunity to watch fresh bagels getting baked, sliced, and prepped. All in all: this place gets a lot of hype. I think it is deserving. I am still dreaming of these bagels. read more

Was excited to try this place after hearing all the hype, but unfortunately it didn't live up to expectations. We ordered the worth it on egg everything, and city fielder on cheddar jalapeno. It seems like they messed up the order and gave an everything bagel instead of egg everything (which is fine! mistakes happen), but the everything bagel I received was a bit tough in some areas. The cheddar jalapeno bagel had a much nicer texture and was soft and fluffy, but didn't have any jalapeno flavor. Not terrible, but definitely not worth the wait in the long line. read more

The bagel and cream cheese here were good, but I was a little disappointed they didn't put powdered sugar on the French toast bagel as advertised. Awesome bagels. Terrible service. Plenty of staff just standing around chatting and messing up orders. But I'll be back

I saw and heard this was one of the best bagel shops in New York, I didn't try any others due to distance, but Utopia's bagels were better than any bagel ever. And it was just two blocks from my hotel! Mornings are busy, there will be a line, the workers are working hard with a New York level of friendly customer service, but you will be rewarded with a delicious bagel or two! Ambiance is clean and modern, but limited seating in which you'll have to try hard to get a seat, just like everywhere in New York. $16.50 Worth It...pick a bagel, which I got the Everything, with lox, cream cheese, capers, red onions and tomato which all adds up to the quintessential New York bagel. Be sure to get it toasted, the outside will be crunchy, but the inside is still hot, moist, and fluffy. $11.50 Whitefish Salad...this is a weird acquired taste, but I enjoyed it! Smoked whitefish, mayonaise, and secret stuff. I had it on bialy everything bagel. Good! $6 Rainbow Bagel with Scallion Cream cheese...these are so pretty and fun! Sweet with a hint of fruity flavor, which made a nice contrast with the scallion cream cheese. Tasty! read more

Picked up some bagels from Utopia Bagels in their Midtown location today. The establishment is pretty spacious with a few tables and seats. It also looks well maintained and clean. It's decorated simply, there isn't really a theme. Ambiance 6/10. My boyfriend and I ordered: 1. A Hashbrown: This tasted average, nothing special. I wish they made it crispier since it was very soft. Rate 6/10. 2. Tex Mex Chicken on a Garlic Bagel: This tasted yummy however, there were some negatives about this bagel. The chipotle chicken didn't have any chipotle flavor. It also lacked pepper jack cheese and chipotle mayo which was upsetting because I didn't taste any spice you normally would with these ingredients. The bacon was very overpowering, and all I tasted was that. However, the garlic bagel itself was very good, had a strong garlic flavor, and was toasted nicely. Plus, the portion size was perfect for breakfast. Rate 7/10. 3. Build Your Own Sandwich: I enjoyed this option because it allowed me to make my own choices such as the egg style, type of cheese, etc. I ordered a sausage, egg (omelette) and mozzarella cheese on a scooped out, buttered egg bagel. This was delicious, probably because it was an order I practically hand picked. The egg bagel itself though was different in terms of a classic egg bagel taste. It didn't really taste like an egg bagel, it more had a "soft pretzel from Wetzel's Pretzel" taste. Nevertheless, it was still good overall, and it was nice and crispy. The portion size kept me full and satisfied. Rate 8.5/10. The service was quick considering I ordered online ahead of time. The staff were friendly. Staff/service rate 7/10. Overall, I would definitely come back here and try another bagel option they have on their extensive menu! read more

The place is very spacious and clean. I love how there is see through kitchen area to show their making bagel station as well. There were a lot of bagel and bagel filling option. I choose the 'worth it' bagel with the lox and all the fixings, which came out to be $17.5 for one bagel sandwich. The bagel itself was indeed very tasty, but they could've added more lox. I thought there was a good amount at first but realized most of them were actually tomato's. I feel like maybe too much tomato's and the lox flavor didn't peak through, so $17.5 for this is a bit expensive but it's also manhattan prices. I feel like it would be more worth it to do a simple bagel and spread /butter. I went at like 7:30 am so there were barely any wait, service was quick and fast. Overall good experience read more

I've been meaning to try this place since it opened near my work and I've always been a fan of the location in Queens. They still make the bagels on the premises which was nice to see in action behind the glass. I came here on a Monday later in the morning (10amish). It was not crowded at all. There's a lot of tables. I ordered the Worth It bagel sandwich (salmon nova, tomatoes, capers, red onions, cream cheese) on an everything bagel toasted. The bagel was good but I feel like the ones in Queens were fluffier? I have to go back and compare. It's still a nice addition to the neighborhood! read more

A true authentic NY bagel. When you can have a bagel plain or with a smear of cream cheese/lox or butter, you are a true NY bagel lover. Great bacon egg and cheese! Lots of different bagels and sandwich options to choose from.

My first egg and cheese here was fantastic! Super cheesy and the garlic bagel was perfect! The bagel definitely makes the sandwich. The next time I had an egg and cheese on a poppy bagel and it was blah. The bagel barely had any seeds and I think they toasted it; it just didn't taste right. I've also had a whitefish salad sandwich, which had been the most reasonably priced one I've found, a reason to order again! Overall a solid bagel spot. Service is great. Even when there was a line I had my order with in 10 minutes. Christina was working two registers at the same time which helped move things along. read more

I've been to the original location in Whitestone and loved it so I wanted to try the location in Manhattan. I ordered the Worth It (lox sandwich w tomato, capers, onions) on an Everything bagel w scallion cream cheese, not toasted. I received the order and opened it to eat it and felt my bagel very warm and saw my cream cheese melted all over and leaking out of the bagel. I asked the staff to check if my bagel was accidentally toasted and I was first told bagels are warm out of the oven, but they eventually verified that it was toasted and made me a new sandwich. I wish they had at least apologized for their mistake. Otherwise the bagel sandwich was good, but it didnt feel as fresh as the Whitestone location one. I'll stick to other bagel shops while in Manhattan. read more

Food was not good at all , my bagel was burnt, the bacon did not taste right. It tasted expired or something. I couldn't put my finger on it but it was not a pleasant experience. I had to remove the bacon to actually take a bite of my bagel but at that point I was so dissatisfied that I didn't even bother eating what was left of it. It's sad to see how hyped it is over social media and the delivery and expectations are shot when you actually try it. Not how I wanted to start my work day at 6am but the servers and cashier were very sweet at least. The ambiance is nice in there I just wish the food was up to par. read more
