Bumpass is French for bon pass which means good passage or good step, and this town was named after its 1st postmaster, John Bumpass. It was pretty drab inside with beige everywhere but there were some cool brass mailboxes so it got a bit of redemption from its boring interior. It was dim and a bit depressing and could benefit from a spiff, but it was tidy. Plenty of parking and handicap accessible. Hours 8:30-12, 1-4:30 M-F, 9:00-11:30 Saturday no passport service

I know that the Bumpass branch is over whelmed with deliveries. Now saying that i received a…read moredelivery yesterday. It was left on the side of the road, at the mail box in the rain and mud. The box was in a condition from being rain on, that i got my clothes muddy, the box fail apart. If you have a delivery just call and i will be glad to come out of my house, in the rain and i walk with a cane, by the way. But i would come to get it at the road side. Even though that it would probably take me 5 minutes to come to the road I would do that. I am handicap and that is the reason i have things delivered. This is the second time this has happened. I dont go out much so deliveries are the way i get things. Please i dont normally write reviews but maybe you all need to hire more people because its apparent that your driver can not make a simple delivery. So thank you, for a wet muddy box, that you all left on the side of the road, for someone to steal.

I love the vintage wood entrance and counter of the diminutive govt facility. You can cross the lobby in about four steps! The post master, a young lady, was super nice and friendly! I loved this one! It suited me to the letter! Bremo Bluff was established in1636 and Robert E. Lee's family considered this quiet area a haven during the Civil War. The actual bluff is quite a site! There's a stately plantation of the same name here, dubbed by the owners from the ancestral home Braemore in the UK. Now populated with about 700 people, it has a rich history. If you ever come to this are in Fluvanna County, be sure to see the bluff and go to the post office! It needs a lick of paint and some landscaping to make it 5 stars!! Hours M-F 12:00-4:00, Sat. 10-12, no passport services.

The town is old fashioned, with a homey pharmacy up the street, a couple of local red, and a few businesses and home to the military school Fork Union Military Academy. One business was right on time! The $ General came in handy when my phone died and I had to buy a car charger! Thanks Fork Union! Back to the post office, there are some local newsstands outside, inside there's a greeting card kiosk and plenty of mailing and shipping supplies. A big messy bulletin board is covered with local news, business cards, and flyers. The people here are friendly and helpful. The exterior is fabulous! The cream and rust colored paint, the tree trunk columns, the wrought iron- all add the the charm and allure of this post office, which used to be a general store. I love when government post offices are unique and have so much character! Inside is an incredible museum of the post office, with antiques, old photos, and lots of wood and brass fixtures, even a wood stove! Cameron, the postmaster, was kind enough to give us a mini history of the area and welcomed us like we were old friends! They sold the elephant stamps which I hadn't seen before! The hours are M-F 9-1, Saturday 8:30-12.

This small community in the Southside located in Chesterfield County is as quaint a town as they come! One of the first things you'll see upon coming into the area is the big water tower boasting the town's establishment in 1877. Buford Road and surroundings roads are dotted with gorgeous Victorian homes, with colorful paint, gingerbread architecture and lots of gabled rooftops. The historic Bon Air Hotel is a must see. It's one of my favorite streets in RVA proper. This tight-knit town has several cool antique shops including The Treasury and Goodstuff Consignment. Everyone in the area knows about Joe's Inn, Buford Rd. Pharmacy, and Perk (the local coffee shop) all located in the heart of Bon Air at Forest Hill and Buford Crossroads. In the nearby shopping center, there's a bookstore, Good Foods Grocer, several other businesses. You'll also find restaurants, banks, service stations, a local butcher, an ice cream store, a library, several places of worship, schools, boutiques and many other places to shop and handle your business needs! There's even a small local farmer's market next to the CVS on the corner too! The roads and grounds are well maintained, although Buford Rd. and Huguenot Rd. heading south towards Midlothian can get busy during traffic hours. I love the winding roads near the railroad tracks. Yes, Bon Air is full of beautiful homes, scenery and has a character that is definitely filled with "Good Air"! Colonel Algernon Buford, whom the main road through Bon Air is named, would be proud of what has become of this charming, bedroom suburban town.
