It was pretty drab inside with beige everywhere but there were some cool brass mailboxes so it got a bit of redemption from its boring interior. It was dim and a bit depressing and could benefit from a spiff, but it was tidy. Plenty of parking and handicap accessible. Hours 8:30-12, 1-4:30 M-F, 9:00-11:30 Saturday no passport service

I know that the Bumpass branch is over whelmed with deliveries. Now saying that i received a…read moredelivery yesterday. It was left on the side of the road, at the mail box in the rain and mud. The box was in a condition from being rain on, that i got my clothes muddy, the box fail apart. If you have a delivery just call and i will be glad to come out of my house, in the rain and i walk with a cane, by the way. But i would come to get it at the road side. Even though that it would probably take me 5 minutes to come to the road I would do that. I am handicap and that is the reason i have things delivered. This is the second time this has happened. I dont go out much so deliveries are the way i get things. Please i dont normally write reviews but maybe you all need to hire more people because its apparent that your driver can not make a simple delivery. So thank you, for a wet muddy box, that you all left on the side of the road, for someone to steal.

With a population of of about 4,000, this historic town deserves a better looking post office. Inside is rather junky, with a bin of old free books and a free shabby office chair. The post master here needs to give this place a good fall cleaning! I did like the vintage brass post offices boxes though, and it looked well stocked. I love the vintage wood entrance and counter of the diminutive govt facility. You can cross the lobby in about four steps! The post master, a young lady, was super nice and friendly! I loved this one! It suited me to the letter! Bremo Bluff was established in1636 and Robert E. Lee's family considered this quiet area a haven during the Civil War. The actual bluff is quite a site! There's a stately plantation of the same name here, dubbed by the owners from the ancestral home Braemore in the UK. Now populated with about 700 people, it has a rich history. If you ever come to this are in Fluvanna County, be sure to see the bluff and go to the post office! It needs a lick of paint and some landscaping to make it 5 stars!! Hours M-F 12:00-4:00, Sat. 10-12, no passport services.

The town is old fashioned, with a homey pharmacy up the street, a couple of local red, and a few businesses and home to the military school Fork Union Military Academy. One business was right on time! The $ General came in handy when my phone died and I had to buy a car charger! Thanks Fork Union! Back to the post office, there are some local newsstands outside, inside there's a greeting card kiosk and plenty of mailing and shipping supplies. A big messy bulletin board is covered with local news, business cards, and flyers. The people here are friendly and helpful. The exterior is fabulous! The cream and rust colored paint, the tree trunk columns, the wrought iron- all add the the charm and allure of this post office, which used to be a general store. I love when government post offices are unique and have so much character! Inside is an incredible museum of the post office, with antiques, old photos, and lots of wood and brass fixtures, even a wood stove! Cameron, the postmaster, was kind enough to give us a mini history of the area and welcomed us like we were old friends! They sold the elephant stamps which I hadn't seen before! Cute little post office in the small "disincorporated" town of Columbia. Don't sneeze or you'll…read moremiss this little, seemingly forgotten historic village, population as of 2023 56 people. The population has fluctuated sometimes as high as 100, but the number tends to dwindle. Yes, the history of this tiny unincorporated place on the map has some cool history: this was the location of the Rassawek, a Monacan Indian Nation settlement. English settlers occupied the area and it was used as an arsenal for awhile. In 1788 the town became incorporated, and was a shipping stop for the tobacco trade. Then by the 1950's due to the decline of the railroad and natural disasters many homes and buildings were either destroyed, flooded or abandoned. The mayor proposed to disincorporate the town in 2014 and eventually passed in 2016 as money couldn't be raised to save the historic town. Main Street now looks like a ghost town, with dilapidated buildings, the haunting remains of the railroad, and just a corner market and the post office hidden down a side street. The post office is charming and well cared for despite its rundown neighbors. Inside it's clean and bright. It's a shame this place couldn't make it because the St. Joseph's church is beautiful and has some remarkable statuary and a popular shrine, also many of the houses in the neighborhood are stately and elegant. This marker in the canal area of Richmond recalls their early days. It reads, "Near this site a meetinghouse was built in 1797 to1798 by members of the Religious Society of Friends. Called Quakers, the earliest had arrived in Virginia from England in 1655. The building was the second house of worship in Richmond after St. John's Church. Richmond Quakers advocated religious freedom, worked to make the prison system more humane and, as pacifists, usually refused to bear arms. They also joined with the Virginia Society of Friends to pressure the General Assembly for passage of the Manumission Act of 1782.
