Not that they aren't trying, it's really tidy, but the floors, walls and windows are dingy. I do like the brass post office boxes! Here in FU (oops!) proper, there are about 900 residents with the zip code 23055. The town is old fashioned, with a homey pharmacy up the street, a couple of local red, and a few businesses and home to the military school Fork Union Military Academy. One business was right on time! The $ General came in handy when my phone died and I had to buy a car charger! Thanks Fork Union! Back to the post office, there are some local newsstands outside, inside there's a greeting card kiosk and plenty of mailing and shipping supplies. A big messy bulletin board is covered with local news, business cards, and flyers. The people here are friendly and helpful. But, like I said, needs some tlc, just like the plant on the counter that seems to match the vibe as it needs attention. Hours M-F 8:30-12:30,1-4:30. Sat 9:30-11:30

I love the vintage wood entrance and counter of the diminutive govt facility. You can cross the lobby in about four steps! The post master, a young lady, was super nice and friendly! I loved this one! It suited me to the letter! Bremo Bluff was established in1636 and Robert E. Lee's family considered this quiet area a haven during the Civil War. The actual bluff is quite a site! There's a stately plantation of the same name here, dubbed by the owners from the ancestral home Braemore in the UK. Now populated with about 700 people, it has a rich history. If you ever come to this are in Fluvanna County, be sure to see the bluff and go to the post office! It needs a lick of paint and some landscaping to make it 5 stars!! Hours M-F 12:00-4:00, Sat. 10-12, no passport services.

I found parking limited , but easy to park ! Letter pickup is about 4:30 . The true downside is you might spend your time chit chatting and catching up with you favorite postal worker! The exterior is fabulous! The cream and rust colored paint, the tree trunk columns, the wrought iron- all add the the charm and allure of this post office, which used to be a general store. I love when government post offices are unique and have so much character! Inside is an incredible museum of the post office, with antiques, old photos, and lots of wood and brass fixtures, even a wood stove! Cameron, the postmaster, was kind enough to give us a mini history of the area and welcomed us like we were old friends! They sold the elephant stamps which I hadn't seen before! On Route 250, you may have overlooked it, if it hadn't been for the huge sign by the road! It's tucked aways back off the main road with a few parking spots, and a flagpole out front proudly waving the ol' red, white and blue. Inside is bright and clean, well stocked packaging center, post office boxes for rent. Anthony Trollope, prominent writer of the Victorian Era, mid-1800's, is given credit to the widespread of neighborhood mailboxes at the corners of the London streets. This creative idea then spread to America! In London, the boxes were originally green but they blended in with the scenery too well, so the "pillar boxes" were then painted bright red so they can be seen from afar. Here in the states, street boxes were also painted an olive drab green, but in 1955, the colors were changed to red, white & blue. Then, in 1971, the US Postal Service, decided to change them to the deep royal blue we see today! Anthony Trollope is a man of letter for sure!! Lobby hours are 9:30-4:30 M-F, and 9:00-12:00 Sat. This part of Oilville is not a very busy area. It's pretty must just through traffic and I think that helps keep customers at this post office to a minimal. There is only one register on the inside, so if someone has a lot of stuff to send out or if there's more than 3 people in line, it might take some time until you make your way to the desk. Staff here is always friendly. Super, southern friendly! Lol. For the most part, I've never seen more than two other customers here. But I've also never been here around rush hour.

Box for several years in nearby Ivy. There is rarely a line at the counter, parking is ideal, and the postmistress and postmaster know me by name. What a welcome reprieve from the other 'care less' post offices around Charlottesville, Virginia.
