On Saturday, November 8, 2025, a package I was expecting at my HUNTERSVILLE, NC, address was reported as delivered, confirmed by the USPS tracking site. It was not delivered, however. I have called the local number for the Huntersville, PO this morning, Monday, November 10, numerous times between 9:30 and 10:15am. Recording confirms it is the right number and says to remain on the line for operator. It then rings for about 5 minutes with no answer...switching to a busy signal after about 5 minutes. Christmas was here before I knew it and I had a Priority Mail to send to the West Coast to my Daughter and her Family and also a belated Birthday Check for my Grandson as well. The news has been flooded with Christmas Shipping deadlines for UPS, FedEx and of course the USPS. My wife had an optometrist appointment across the Interstate, and I figured I could drop her off, run over to the Huntersville PO and mail my package. Being Christmas, I knew it was going to be crowded and I would probably have to wait. I normally use the Cornelius NC PO but I figured it would just as bad there. Took two trips around the parking lot to grab a parking spot but lucked out when someone was leaving, and I snared a parking spot right outside the front door. I was right in that it was going to be crowded and there was going to be a wait. The line stretched from the counter around the room and out the doors and halfway across the lobby. When I got in line, there were four stations open but that dropped to three when I going to guess someone when to lunch. Shortly thereafter, the three dropped to two. Sign said to have everything ready and for the most part, everyone was prepared with the appropriate paperwork and packaging. Only one case of someone without a clue and while it did hold the line up a bit but everyone was otherwise cooperative. Took a bit over 30 minutes but finally got the counter and within a couple of minutes, my package was on it's way to Carlsbad CA. Shipped on a Wednesday with an ETA of Sunday which was dead on. The two guys who were manning the counters were doing a great job keeping things moving. Only complaint I had was on resource allocation. Someone should have staggered their lunch break so that at least three stations were open at any one time. Otherwise, everything went fine. read more

I don't like writing reviews like this, but I've just about had it with this post office. I've lived in several zip codes in the Charlotte area, and my experience with the Huntersville post office has by far been the worst. When we first moved here, we had a reliable mail carrier, a woman whose name I don't know. But shortly after, we received a new mail carrier - a gentleman - I have had nothing but issues ever since. I received a postcard that indicated that I had a document sent registered mail that required a signature, but no one was home to sign and that a re-attempt will be made. I thought that was strange since I work from home and had been home all day to sign that document had the doorbell rang, so I made a point to listen out for the next attempt and again found another postcard in my mailbox the next day that said that no one was home to sign for the document. The next time the mail carrier came I literally looked out the window and saw him about to put the postcard in the mailbox again when he had not even come to the door to ring the doorbell! So I ran to the door, opened it and waived for him to bring it to me which he did. Busted!! But who does that? How do you say that you attempted to do something that you didn't do? And that's just one example. He never delivers the mail consistently at the same time, you don't know whether to expect it in the morning or in the late afternoon, and most recently I was expecting a delivery from Amazon via USPS, and not once but twice did I get a notification that says that my delivery could not be made because my driveway was not accessible. This was during our first snowfall of the year and our driveway had not only been shoveled but also salted. So it was clearly accessible, and he obviously did not even attempt to arrive at our home or get out of the truck. I tried to call Customer Service but of course they were closed because - go figure - it was a holiday. Unbelievable. That's probably also why the carrier figured he could get away with entering a code in the system to say our fully accessible driveway wasn't accessible. Now I'm going to call Amazon to see what they can do. I've never seen a more lazy mail carrier in my life. read more

The post office can be boring, but I'm not down with boring. If something is boring, I'll either leave or do something to change the mood (for better or worse). In this instance, I think it was for the better, but you be the judge. I stood on a short line to pick up a mysterious package (I missed the package while in Savannah). While standing there, a large woman wearing headphones was dancing, but primarily with her hindquarters. Her serious facial expression didn't match her body's happy movements. Just standing there behind her with nowhere to go created awkwardness. Now I had boring and awkward together (not quite like pb&j). I needed to make a move. "Hey." I waved my hand in front of her face to get her attention. She extended her left earbud an inch from her ear and shot me a curious look. "Yeah?" "I appreciate the entertainment. The post office is usually boring, but here you are, dancing and shaking your moneymaker." "Ha! But when I shake my moneymaker, no money come out." Classic! Anyway, she got her groove back on and I picked up a DVD of Tron: Legacy from Germany that didn't work in American DVD players, despite being in English and sold on Amazon US. Figured out a solution though. No worries there. The post office guy closer to the right when facing the counter was on his game. He would point to the next few people in line while talking to his crew and say, "That one's picking up" "That one's dropping off" "That one has a question" Etc. This was without having spoken to anyone in the line. I mean the following sincerely. This is the type of guy that would be great at whatever he did. The worst post office I've had to deal with and most useless "workers". I had a lost package and the clerk kept cutting me off and wouldn't let me explain the situation. The package was gone forever. I'm finally leaving this shit hole of a post office behind, but not before having to deal with these people one last time. I put in a change of address, but continued to receive mail at the old address. I went back in and the useless clerk clearly did not want to check on my change. I had to explain and ask four times. He brought out a supervisor who wrote the address down and disappeared. He came back out and said they had no record of the change. I had to put in another one. Every time I've had the displeasure of being here, someone was complaining. Get a PO Box in Davidson and save yourself the aggravation of what must be one of the worst post offices in the state. If this is your post office, may god have mercy on your soul. read more

They steal your mail this is the 2nd time this week that they didn't return my mail. They never delivered I know this because I watched all day and watched the tracking and it said they delivered my item to a parcel locker instead of my mail box. I'm so ready to move because now it's happened again with something very important I was supposed to receive. I have the daily digest which shows pics of what's supposed to be arriving to my mailbox and what was supposed to had arrived did not. They are thieves who don't do their jobs and I'm over it. Since moving to Huntersville two months ago, I have had delivery problems and today when I went to pick up a letter that required a signature, there was a sign that said their system was down and the door to the service lobby was locked. The sign had been used before. I've been using the postal service for over half a century and have never had this kind of experience. All the negative reviews here are true. Every time you go in this post office the lines are very long and the employees are rude and lazy. Many times there will be a long line with only one employee at the counter while another is busy doing something else less important instead of waiting on customers. When I went in today the female at the counter had an attitude and she immediately told me I had to go back out of line because my package was not addressed. She didn't even give me a chance to ask my questions as I first needed to find out if they had a label I could use and see how much it would cost to ship. I said something to her about her attitude, and then she got really defensive and refused to weigh the package and get me a price and instead told me I would have to wait on the next employee who was already tied up with a customer. I asked for a supervisor and she refused to get one. Ended up leaving. Don't waste your time using this post office. They are totally incompetent, rude, lazy, and discriminate against people who are not the same color as them. read more

I had a package with signature required attempted to be delivered on 1/21, but scan says 'no access to delivery location.' We not only have neighorhood clusterboxes, but both my wife & I work from home. There is no way the delivery person had no access. I thought the package would be redelivered the next day and nothing. I entered an online trace 1/24 and received an email the next day from the PO saying they are in receipt of my trace. On 1/27 the package research case was closed. I never heard from anyone after the initial email. I went the PO in person on 2/10 and spoke to David. He indicated he was 1 of 2 people that complete the package research cases. After searching the PO for the package he indicated he would check with the mail carrier and call me back. I provided my phone number accordingly. Of course, I never heard from him or anyone, so I went back to the PO on 2/17 and spoke with a different supervisor. We started the process over and she searched the bins. No luck. She said it might be in one of the clusterbox bins, but I quickly dismissed that because a signature was required. Then she said the package was likely returned to the sender bc they don't hold packages for more than 15 days. My natural question was then what happened to my online trace request entered 3 days after original attempted delivery. Crickets. I have yet to receive an apology or anything similar. I just received a blank stare after our back & forth yesterday like I was a bother. I have had no less than 6 packages disappear after arriving at the Huntersville PO whether on-site or after attempted deliveries. This post office's incompetence and unprofessionalism begins at the top - the Post Master. After having numerous issues I requested a meeting with her and she set the date/time. I agreed. I showed up early to the appointment time and after waiting 10 minutes was told she's in another meeting. I was told I could wait or reschedule. I was told the wait would be at least an hour. Again, she set the date/time of the meeting so she truly didn't value my time by not honoring the appointment. I chose to reschedule leaving my phone number with the supervisor and I never heard back from anyone. I have had mail holds not honored, packages disappear while on mail holds, packages delivered to the wrong address, packages with 'do not bend' folded in half, packages marked as 'fragile' left standing upright and wind knocking them over, packages scanned as 'awaiting delivery scan' and ultimately disappearing, packages left in the rain on the edge of the porch, etc. Total & gross incompetence. If you want to ruin your day just stop by this post office the attitude there is second to none. I stopped in to mail a couple pre-lable packages and ask for information on a package I haven't received. Was told they don't have time to look up the tracking number and go stand in line by the side door. 30 minutes later no bs I give them my tracking number and was told it's delayed! My question was why is it going to Charlotte to Columbia and back to Charlotte? I was told that's how the shipping works! Not my usual postal facility but it'll do in a pinch. Location on Gilead just east of 21 / Statesville Road isn't horrible and the facility itself is well kept and tidy but I'm not a fan of the parking lot. Inside is clean and orderly as expected of the USPS: columns of mail boxes, tiled floors, well stocked displays to satisfy all your posting desires... except pens. No free-use pens on the counters, even the bead-chains were gone leaving anchors to secure nothing. Counter help is pleasant and efficient despite the lack of preparation shown by the patrons so the line moves steadily if not speedily. Like most offices the service would improve greatly if they could attract better customers. read more

Although efficiency and speed are not a strong point of this location, their friendliness and service is. I think sometimes it takes so long because the staff gets to know their customers and carries on personal conversations while they are being helped, which can slow down their work speed but I don't think is a bad thing at all. Everything I come in to do or get is always taken care of properly, like I said they don't move as fast as the sound of light, but they are knowledgeable, get the job done and are usually very nice about it. I'm not sure what else you're expecting from a USPS office. Parking is a little crazy when it's busy so check and double check before popping out of your spot! read more

This is a smaller post office because of the size of the town. It would do good to expand this office if possible. I know that is easier said than done. The workers are all nice but there never seems to be enough of them. There always seems to be a line out of the door and think that it would move faster if they had at least one more window open. The facilities are dated and need a bit of sprucing up. It seems that the automatic postage machine doesn't always work correctly. When it does, there again is usually a long line going out of the door. Overall it's ok but try to avoid at peak hours. read more

However, if you prefer to get in line, be prepared to wait, especially during lunch. On my last visit, there were two lines open and at the blink of an eye, there were five! The Gilead Rd post office in Huntersville NC is the worst post office I've ever used. I live in Huntersville and will drive all the way to Cornelius just to avoid dealing with the rude terrible customer service at the Huntersville post office. There are never enough windows open at peak business hours yet the normally grumpy ppl at the windows seem to always move at a snails pace!!! Since I worked in the Huntersville area for a few years, I got to know this post office pretty well. While it's nothing special, it's worth noting that the folks who work here are very efficient, knowledgeable and, usually, pretty friendly. As Michelle B mentioned, this location gets super crowded during lunch hours, so be prepared to stand in line or use the automated machine in the PO box area. This post office provides service which needs improvement with carriers who leave notes in your mailbox accusing you of lying when the timing of their delivery notice and the time they scanned your package for pickup at the post office is misaligned. Unprofessional staff, who need customer service 101 training. I hope the Government can offer them the needed support as they have endured delivering mail in unprecedented times, for which we all are thankful, just an opportunity for improvement! read more

The post office is understaffed and the line is always long. I have had multiple packages not make it to my PO Box. Give yourself time when you go there as the line move slowly. Although some of the postal workers do their best to help, I am experiencing some serious issues with about 20+ packages that were dropped off at the Huntersville USPS on Gilead Road on September 9-10, 2020. All packages were shipped via USPS Priority Mail. Packages from the 9th still show no tracking updates and still show as "preshipment"--despite being dropped off directly at the drop off window. Packages from the 10th are taking 6+ days to just show a first scan, often from Greensboro, NC instead of their starting point in Huntersvillle; And then it is taking an additional 6+ days to arrive to their destination. While I realize we are amidst a pandemic, something just is not right here, as I ship 3-5 days a week and have no issues with any other packages shipped on days other than September 9th & 10th. This is costing our business $1,000's in missing packages and consumers who are telling us they will never do business with us again. All I am asking for is some help, but it seems nobody can or knows how to help me. read more

What an experience today at the post office. We had 100 invitations to mail. Now in the past when when sending out invitations I would always go to the very cute copy print mail store in birkdale or even to one of the big box stores. Today we decided to try the post office because what could go wrong. Well the postal wotker we had was clearly having an off day by the way she spoke. We asked for the letters to be weighed and postage printed so that we had the correct pricing. The woman very rudely said that the post office can't print postage. Um....what?! Hello this is not new technology. So even the post rooms in both of the companies we work for have these machines and yet the post office itself does not? She then told us that we would have to buy our stamps and go "stand in the corner" and do it ourselves. She then told us that we can just mail them from home. Well of course we can but does it not register with her that extra postage is required on heavier letters and we wanted to make sure that one stamp was sufficient? No wonder why the post office is bankrupt. Safe yourself the trouble and go to a store that also has a USPS kiosk. You will get much better service with no attitude. read more

This place is a joke and it is amazing that their incompetence is seemingly rewarded. They consistently lose or misdeliver mail, sometimes it is 7:00 PM or later before we get mail, and the workers are some of the rudest you will encounter. Recently they were caught in a lie about delivering a package. When confronted they finally admitted they delivered to the wrong address and for the next 3 days did nothing but give me the run around and continually lie. In their mind I have no right to compensation due to their negligence and when I commented I would come down to resolve this the women claimed I threatened her. When I asked how coming there to resolve this was a threat she claimed I threatened a federal employee. When I asked was it ok for a federal employee to continually lie and deceive she hung up the phone. Avoid this place like the plague! read more

Update...the Huntersville Post Office never corrected the situation. We still do not receive our mail. Our mail was thrown on the ground. We were assured our mail carrier never drove her personal car but we had a woman run up to our door in street clothes after 9 pm apologizing that the normal carrier didn't deliver our mail and hand us our mail. So there it is... Only the one woman... Brought us our mail because she was nice. We get our mail whenever the carrier feels like driving down the street. read more

I was in line Saturday, January 12th 2019, around 11:30AM, close to closing. Quite a few people were in line, the line stretched out the door, and we see the young man behind the counter throwing someone's packages into the back room after applying postage to them, in full view of all of us. I have an Ebay business and have had many breakages when I ship through this post office. I do not ship anything breakable any more through the Huntersville post office- I will go to the Mooresville post office instead. I have never had an issue with breakage at Mooresville. read more
