Wish I could give this horror show of a post office a rating of negative 1,000,000 The staff are rude, incompetent and inefficient. This is a mammoth space that is so severely under-utilized it could be called Kafkaesque. The newest wrinkle is the addition of the most mean-spirited postal worker I've encountered who 'monitors' every single self-service kiosk. She pulled me aside today and forced me to add more postage to a large envelope I was mailing, because she said 'this is a package, not an envelope.' There was a SASE inside, which she accused me of 'lying on that zip code' to pay less postage (not true). There are never any USPS supplies in stock (boxes, insurance forms, etc.), never more than two people at the service windows, and usually a long line of people waiting an eternity to mail a package. I've heard rumors that this particular location may be shut down. Do it sooner than later. It's a waste of space and taxpayer money. read more

I'd give this place negative stars if it was possible. There are never more than two or three clerks and the line is usually twenty people deep. Plus, the clerks that are actually serving customers have horrible attitudes 90% of the time. With places like this, it's no wonder the USPS is barely staying afloat. read more

NOT WORTH THE RISK. I mailed something with tracking last Friday, but my tracking information was never updated beyond "Acceptance." I also paid for expedited mailing, but I have to assume that didn't happen, either. On Tuesday, customer service promised I would receive either updated tracking information or a phone call within 24 hours. Big fat NOPE on both fronts. Now I'm stuck in a weird place where I'm not sure if my mail is delivered, lost, or hasn't even been mailed yet. I mailed original documents, and aside from the hassle of paying for new originals, I have a deadline to make. It's really easy: if it's important, just use a different carrier. read more

In all honesty, I didn't make it to the counter. I was only going to this location because I needed to send something before a holiday and many other locations had already closed. I was waiting in what I felt was the line. There were people, we were in the shape of a line. The lady behind the counter proceeded to yell at us about standing behind a certain counter. Her volume, her tone and her attitude were all completely out of line. I don't appreciate being treated like cattle and being forced to move to a different location six feet from where I was just because this woman wanted us there. The location that we were all standing in made much more sense and in our defense, there were no signs informing us of where to stand. As much as I try to commit myself to interpersonal transactions for reasons I'm not about to delve into, I'm usually better off using the automated machines for stamps and labels. If you've already boxed and sealed your stuff, the machines are the way to go because there's usually no wait for them... they also don't have any built in demeaning or demoralizing attitude to give off. My mail gets lost all the time. I have had to call my credit card company to have them reissue a card 3 times because they where lost. Magazine issues lost. My mother died and people told me they sent me cards I never got. The postal service is horrible its to bad we have no other choices. The days of neither rain snow sleet of hail are gone. I try not to visit the post office if I can help it...if I'm going to visit one, I prefer one in the burbs, but I was a little late in getting a care package together and had to visit this dreadful place. I mean... this is as bad as the DMV. I strolled in here late morning after the morning rush but before the afternoon rush to mail out a box of goodies for Christmas. Of course there is a line...a long one. The (insert sarcasm here) always super friendly happy employee randomly yelled out that if you're using a debit or credit card, you can use the machine. Mind you, there are like two people in there actually working on this long line of customers. So a few of us at the end of the line decided to make our way over to the postage machine...easy peasy. In fact, I hope one day they only have those machines in there and they take over those people's jobs!!! So the machine informs you to put your package in the box next to it, so a few people, myself included are trying to open this mailbox with no luck. Employee of the year is yelling out "the box is full" and back at it again we have no idea if she's talking to us or what the deal is... she yells out again, "The box is full" so one of the customers asks "So where do we put this stuff?" She points to some bin behind the desk loaded with packages taller than me. Ok, really...would it hurt to just say "If you'd like to use the machine, put your packages THERE when you're done" I guess so...that's extra work. Ok, whatever... it is what it is. If you would like your parcels delayed, lost, or otherwise mishandled with minimal care from the staff, go on ahead and use this PO. Their carriers are great with not delivering parcel notices to my business PO box, and denying anything ever happened.... and then the priority mail package magically appears two week later. Good lord. I've read the majority of the reviews on this particular post office and I 1000% agree with all of them. The service at this USPS is TER...RIB...LE. The line gets extremely backed up during the lunch hour and after 5pm. Always. Always. Always. *The reason: during these hours there are only about 2-3 workers servicing the customers. There are 30+ stations. WTH. LOL. I've resorted to using the postage machines, those are self-explanatory and quick. I just feel bad for the people who wait in those lines. I think I saw some dude's hair turn white from waiting so long. 2 stars = Since I never have to wait in the line. 1 star = For the poor service given by the workers/managerial staff. 0 stars = Well, I'm not that mean. Post offices are notoriously awful, but this one is straight robbery. I pre-paid EXTRA for priority shipping, and brought my package up to the counter for a priority sticker. The lady threw my package behind her and said "I don't need anything extra to do today, it'll get there when it gets there". When I told her I really needed the priority sticker, she replied "honey it's already in the bin - what you want me to go get it now?" I literally paid 3x the price for priority 2-day shipping and didn't get what I paid for. Package ended up being treated as regular mail and didn't arrive to my recipient for ELEVEN DAYS - all because some postal worker didn't want to put in the effort to do her job. There is consistently a line of about 15 people at any given time during the day. Luckily, there are three machines that you can use to ship something yourself. Lately they have been in and out of working order, which makes the line for the machines longer. This space is HUGE. Can we fit another machine or two in there? However, the few times I've needed to speak with someone it has been an ordeal. If you'd like to take to the manager, you will wait at least 30 minutes. After I waited 40 minutes to speak with the manager about a missing package, she laughed at me and said she couldn't do anything. "How should I know where your package is?" Hmm. My latest interaction with a postal service worker was just as unpleasant. No one likes being yelled at 8am. How are you already in a yelling mood at 8am? Yikes. I truly dread when my job requires me to run to the post office, because this is the closest one and it is staffed by some of the rudest people I have ever encountered. During my visit today, I used the self-service kiosk to avoid speaking to anyone but after my transaction, I needed to tape a label back onto my envelope. Of course the lady looked at me like I was an idiot and chastised me for even using self-service when there was no line. Worst USPS experience ever. The clerk named Kim is extremely rude and insulting. When it was my turn and she was still gossiping with her friend, she lifted her finger up for me to wait until she was done gossiping. I asked to mail some documents with priority mail express and she scoffed at me then complained about me to her friend that I couldn't just use self service. She told me to go back there to the table to fill out my information. I have to agree with most of the previous reviews for this place. There's like 3 of the 20+ windows open at one time and the attitude of the people working there is usually barely tolerable much less agreeable. However, I was there on April 14th this week. That's right, the day before taxes were due. OY!!! I was bracing myself for the worst and cursing the fact that I wasn't able to E-file the stuff I had to send. Imagine my surprise when I was able to get to a window in about 15 mins and was actually greeted by a NICE teller! WOW! I wasn't able to get her name but I wish I had so I could give her a mini-shoutout. In the middle of what I'm sure was a hectic and nerve wrecking day, she greeted me with a smile, asked how I was and was entirely pleasant and helpful throughout my 3 transactions. I actually walked out of there with a smile! Shocker! So this location is saved from getting 1 star based on that really nice lady alone. Oh and the fact that the line actually moved fairly quickly. These USPS employees haven't ever been the nicest. Today, however, I've never been more disrespected by an employee. I walked up to the counter and the employee asked me if I had a problem. "No?" I respond. She then begins to tell me how extremely rude I am. What??? Apparently, I hadn't waited long enough for the customer before me to leave the counter before I stepped up. My bad I guess. This lecture went on while I stood open-mouthed. Finally I told her that it was an honest mistake. But it didn't stop there. She continued to degrade me and call me rude while she's taking my money out of my hands. While infuriating, it was almost comical. I told her I would not be back to this location and simply said, "I don't care. Goodbye." Unfortunately, USPS doesn't care if you write a review, call customer service, etc. Just be warned that these employees will jump at any chance they can to make your experience miserable. read more

Horrible service I had the rudest attendant I asked her for tape she gave me an attitude then she said I had to fill out a small form that would've taken me 30 seconds to do yet she stated when I was done I can go to the back on the line. Then told me they cannot ring my bell and if the keys to my place do not work then they will take it back to the post office. You're the only delivery service that has keys to my building and you guys still have issues. THAT IS Beyond ME!! They are incredible rude. I had used this tape that was at the table, everyone was using it and so I grabbed some as well and taped the back of my letters and when I went to send them the fat old woman asked me where I got the tape from so I told her the table and she told me to bring it. So I let my stuff and grabbed it for her. When I got done paying $50 for 4 letters that I mailed off I asked her if she wanted me to put the tape back and she said no that I already paid $4 for it. I told her if she was going to charge me she might as well give me a new one and she said WHAT DID YOU SAY all offended that I spoke back to her. I swear they think that they're Big Boss because here behind the counter. I repeated myself and she said "NEXT TIME DONT USE WHATS NOT YOURS" Now I'm not going to cuss in the post office nor on Yelp but believe me when I tell you that it took everything inside of me to not jump the table to grab her weave. Anyways, I had spoken with two women there at the counter and they were both disgustingly rude. Watch out because they'll sit hey and make jokes on everybody there. The 1 star only because I like the African American gentleman with the grey hair that provides exemplary service each time I'm lucky enough to be served by him. This post office would not have received a single star if not for that gentleman. Today I had the pleasure of visiting this post office on two separate occasions. Each time the queue of customers stretched beyond the "standing area" due to the general "lack of urgency" exhibited by the window dwellers. A menacing armed guard patrols the lobby waiting for the opportunity to expel any patron that objects to hostile and intimidating environment. The first window dweller spent a good 2-3 minutes staring at her fingernails after servicing her prior customer prior to calling out "next window". When she finished staring at her fingers, she asked me if I had anything "liquid, fragile or perishable" in my package. I responded "yes, it's fragile" and within seconds knocked the package off the scale with her elbow and sent it bouncing off the floor. Not only did she NOT apologize, but she let out a large sigh once she realized that she would need to remove herself from her stool and stoop down to pick up the fragile package that she carelessly dropped 3 feet to the concrete floor. Nothing close to an apology, NOTHING! The second window dweller that I encountered today insisted that the package that I handed to her could not be sent via First Class mail with delivery confirmation. I politely explained that I had packaged the exact same item, the exact same way at least 15 times and sent it First Class with delivery confirmation at THIS post office without incident. I explained to her that per the USPS website, a parcel that measured 3/4" at it's thickest point could in fact be sent via First Class mail WITH delivery confirmation. She refused to budge. I asked to speak to her Supervisor which resulted in her getting angry and screaming the name of the supervisor as loudly as possible across and asking me to move out of the way. After the supervisor explained to her that she was incorrect, she proceeded to stamp my delivery confirmation form, take my credit card and provide me with my receipt. She refused to acknowledge her error. She refused to offer an apology. She deserves to be fired. No wonder the USPS is broke! Do yourself a favor and go to the nearby UPS store (across street on Clark in BOA building) or the FedEx store in the CBOE building (however, if you go here good luck finding a clerk there that can locate Singapore on a map). Oh, and the counter display that directs you to the next available clerk has been broken for at least 2 months. PLEASE FIX IT read more

I know for a fact that the post office is a very on and off experience for some people, but I personally had a great experience at this location! I sold my laptop via Facebook with PayPal and the woman specified USPS Priority Express. It took me a minute to locate the correct box, and fill out a label and seal the box. I then went to the kiosk to buy stamps, completely unsure of how much I needed, then went to stand in line. The woman who was by the self-service kiosk and was previously busy approached me, asked if I was using a card, informed me of the cost of the box, brought me back over to the kiosk, walked me through the touch screen options for the correct selections, I paid, got my receipt and tracking number, and was done. The whole process took maybe 15 minutes at most. It was significantly easier than I anticipated, especially for someone who rarely ships things, and the fact that she brought me from the line to the kiosk and quickly walked through the necessary steps, I couldn't ask for an easier time. read more

I love coming here whenever I feel too blessed or happy with my life in order to get an extra large cup of depression, sadness and a hint of helplessness. I love queueing in the line as it helps me meditate for hours without disturbances and I do it all the time to prepare mentally for when I really want to ship something. One really has to learn to empty their minds if they want to conquer the guardians of the mail at the end of the line. Most of the times you only get one chance to place your request or else your are going back to the line of doom for extra meditation practice, so it is crucial that you are equipped with the right shipping tags, forms and courage at the same time. The guardians have been defending these places for ages so they have many tricks up their sleeves to dodge your requests or make you fill out more forms, sending you back to where you started. Sometimes they magically disappear and close down their gates so that there are only two left. Don't be fooled though, they huddle in the back to replenish their stamina so that they can attack even more powerful the next time. It's a magical place and everyone should come to experience it, even if it's just for a short queueing session of 44 minutes. God bless USPS. read more

I can't believe that I got kicked out of the post office because I wanted to mail a package to China! I needed to mail a package to China and since I had mailed it before at this location and it's close to work, so I went there to try to mail it. The woman who helped me had never mailed anything internationally before so she told me that I had to write the address in English. I told her that I had mailed it before and as long as the destination is in English it's fine. She said she needed to check with her supervisor. So the supervisor came over with her and told me that everything should be in English. I tried to explain that it would make no sense if the address is in English because the Chinese post office doesn't read English. And I had mailed the package before like this. As a matter of fact, I just mailed something this morning. She yelled at me, who? who? I said I don't know who, somebody who worked here this morning. She thought I was lying and asked me to produce the receipt, so I did. Then she took the receipt and pretended to look for the person who mailed my package this morning. I said, I had mailed it before and the only thing I had to do is to put the destination in English so the post office knows it's going to China. She said, no, this is new procedure, everything has to be in English! I said, really, since when? Cos I just mailed a package to the same address this morning. She said, since right now! I can't believe this! Even worse, she called the security and the security guard told me that I had to leave the post office! What the hell? No wonder US post office is going out of business, with this horrible customer service and so ignorant about anything!! I ended up going to UPS and mailed my package there. They were 1000 times better. I will never EVER go back to that post office again. It is the WORST place! read more

So, I do this time and time again, just hoping the reviews on Yelp are wrong. They're never wrong. I read the reviews of this place and decided to try it anyway despite its nickname as a "black hole". (What goes in never comes out). The location is just so incredibly convenient. I paid for 2-day delivery and it got there at the week and a half mark. Now I have to pay for tracking just to make sure my packages are going where they need to go. The employees are rude too. I'm usually in a chipper mood when I go and always make a point to ask how the employees are, but the people here cannot even conceive of politeness. It's a black hole for sure when you consider that nothing that goes in here goes out and the service is nonexistent. If you can find another location, even if a bit less convenient, for all that is good in this world, go there. Go anywhere. read more

Worst. I'm not sure that the people that work here actually have souls. They certainly don't have any customer service skills/desire to do their job. My first, and last, experience with them happened because a package was sent to me that required a signature for delivery. Well, I work during the day. Duh. And I also live in a condo building where all of the parcels are left in by the mail cubbies. I get home one afternoon to find the note from the post office stating that they tried to deliver my package but I needed to authorize them to just leave it with a signature and a phone call. Done. Signed the form, attached it to the front of my mailbox (I confirmed that this was protocol when I called), called them with my reference number to schedule a redelivery. Rescheduled for the next day, great. I get home the next day only to find the same note on my mailbox with a violent scribble through my signature and an arrow, apparently indicating that I've signed in the wrong place. I did not. The form is tiny, there are only so many places with lines to sign on. I call AGAIN to reschedule and they tell me that if I preferred, I could just go to the Loop location and pick my package up. Fine. You clearly can't handle the job of delivering my mail. Please hold it, I'll stop by at lunch tomorrow. I go to the post office and wait in a mother of a line before a highly unpleasant woman barks at me about what I'm there for. When I explain, she literally rolls her eyes at me and tells me to just go up to the counter and ask someone for my package. Seriously!? Like I'm supposed to know that I can just cut the line. Take your attitude elsewhere. I stand at the counter for a good five minutes, being completely ignored, where I get a good look at the mess of mail just strewn on every surface imaginable. This cannot be how you organize the mail. Come on. I finally get someone to care that I'm just standing there and they look for a good 30 minutes before telling me that they can't find my package. They rudely explain that there is a lot of mail here. "Who did you talk to that they said you could just pick it up? We would never tell you that unless we had the package in our hands. It could be anywhere." AAHHHHHHHHH!!!! I honestly can't even remember how I ended up getting my mail. I started blocking things out after that fiasco. But I've never actually been in ANY post office where people were friendly, helpful, or competent. I guess this is just par for the course. read more

Despite some friendly (but not fast) counter staff, this is a terrible, terrible post office. Forms are never, ever available - you have to get in the looooooooong line and request them. Want to use the Automatic Postal Machines? Only if you have a big envelope or don't want to purchase stamps - the machines "temporarily" can't print smaller postage (and haven't been able to for months). Want to deposit them in the APM bin? Broke...for the last three months. If you're equidistant to the Aon Center post office, you should definitely head there! read more

This is the worst Post Office that I have ever gone to. There are not enough employees to service the number of people that come here and the employees that are available can be extremely unprofessional, except for the one taller guy. This location is in the Loop federal plaza and can be walked to from all over the Loop. If you go around lunch time, prepare to wait in line for 30-45 minutes. As an example of the poor employees, I once saw someone in one of these 30-45 minute lines demand to see a manager because the employees were standing behind the desk, not working and just hooting and hollering. They mocked the man by continually screaming for a manager who never came and continuing to laugh. If it weren't the only easy option available for when I'm at work, I would never go here. read more
