I would like to report an ongoing safety concern at the post office on Battlefield Road near the Walmart. I sell online and often need to drop off packages in the morning before going to work, using the self-service kiosk. On several occasions, I have had to leave without dropping off my packages because there was a homeless individual sleeping or standing in the lobby. This has made me feel unsafe, especially during early morning hours when there are no employees present. I understand that this can be a difficult situation, but something needs to be done to ensure customer safety. At a minimum, having police or security do periodic drive-bys or checks would help. Customers should not have to feel afraid simply dropping off a package, especially when many of us rely on early-morning access due to work schedules. read more

This is consistently the worst post office in the history of post offices. I only use/go there when I absolutely have no choice because the people are awful. They proved it yet again today. I scheduled a passport appointment for my just-turned 16 yo 3 weeks ago. USPS called at 6:11 AM to inform me that my appointment was canceled and I would have to reschedule. They didn't automatically reschedule for me (since their employee was not going to work). Naturally, I now have to wait another 3 weeks to get a Saturday appointment. Went there about 2:00pm and there were no clerks at the front desk. After calling out for assistance, 2 people came out from the back but didn't immediately assist us. The male who finally assisted me was very rude. When I said we were all waiting 10 minutes, he said that he wasn't away that long. I said whatever. He responded'don't whatever me!" He then said he would get me a shirt and I could help him with his work. This clerk needs to either resign or get customer service training. read more

I went to them to send a package with the email from the company to return a package. The attendant said I could not send it without the label printed out for them to put on the package to send it. But then directed me to go to UPS or the library to get it printed and come back, because they're opened to 2pm. I told her I was on foot, the attendant replied, "we'll be open again on Monday." I think I'll call the company on Monday and just take it to UPS instead. We can go into Columbia kidnap their dictator, invade Iran, but USPS can't send the package. Impossible to get a mail key. Paid on September 1. Told two weeks. Two months later I have no key. No way to call as the phone is not answered. One person does the keys but 60 Days to wait for a single key is unacceptable. read more

A quick stop to pick up postcard stamps here in Chesapeake and then send off my postcards. This location has a counter and they have postal clerks and yes, they have postcard stamps. Not much of a queue at 4:30 which was good as I had other places to be, too. The lot is narrow and they do have a separate lane if you're just wanting to drop off stuff and not have to get out of your car. The speed it takes to get packages from this location is the worst I've ever dealt with.

Customer service was a joke. Out of stock of nearly everything on the shelves from boxes to tape.

I haven't been to this particular post office in over five years. The last time I came here was to apply for a passport. Today I came to this one to drop off a package. The parking situation is exactly what I remembered it to be...horrible. It's very compacted and very limited. The building is still a bit old and could use a revamping. It was very busy. There's nothing really special about this one. The only thing I could say to future costumers would be to go to another one. read more

This full service United States Post Office is located in the busy North Battlefield corridor of the Greenbrier West section of Chesapeake. The freestanding building is of average size for a post office but the narrow parking lot is on the small side. The lot can get pretty full at peak times but vehicles come and go fairly quickly so parking isn't too much of an issue. There is a dedicated lane if you just want to drop something in one of the curbside mail boxes. Ingress and egress are limited to right turns while heading north on Battlefield Boulevard. Exiting can take some patience as traffic can be pretty heavy at times. This facility has pretty much everything you expect to find at a post office. This location even offers passport services which my family and I have used in the past. The counter can have lengthy lines at times but generally moves fairly swiftly. I have always been impressed with the friendly, helpful employees at the counter. They are knowledgeable and seem to enjoy their jobs. The building has been standing for many years and is looking a little dated, it could definitely benefit from a little freshening up or remodeling but it remains very functional. I would rate this location higher but I am deducting a star for the smallish parking lot with its limited means of access and the degree of difficulty to exit back on to busy Battlefield Boulevard. read more

This location is a mess. My new home told me to pick up my mailbox keys at this location, and the post office didn't even have them! They said oh they're not here. Like there's nothing else we can do. Then I was told to purchase a new one. Then was told it'd take a few weeks to get the new key! Then was told my mail would be held at the location but it wouldn't be available for another couple weeks. Like?? Absurd. The line was LONG and there was one person in the service box. For many years i had been receiving mails that did'nt belong to me, some are from out of State, and my own mails sometimes are lost. This time i have'nt received Christmas Card from my own daughter in Texas while my own friends have received theirs from my own daughter 2 weeks ago. One of my own financial statements from one of my investments again is lost, it always happen every beginning of the month. One will not come on time or forever lost. read more

I gotta say things don't look to good for our postal service. I despise coming to this location. The parking is terrible, though they have filled in the holes that used to be throughout the parking lot. Getting in and out of the place is also a pain due to traffic. But worst of all is the service. I know when I come here I'm going to be in line.... for a long time... The problem isn't the people working there, it's the lack of people working there. When you have a line out the fricken front door you need to have more than 1 or 2 people working the front counter. It's as simple as that. What happened to this post office! Customer service was the best. Now they seemingly can't help with anything. The blue vested supervisors have no knowledge of processes and are just bitter that you would dare to question things. Nothing but attitude from the day shift supervisor. She actually asked me who was the "this postmaster" that sent me a letter. I was dumbfounded. I showed her the letter and she said "Well, I don't know nothing about that. You need to call Richmond" I asked for the number and she said she doesn't know to look it up for myself. read more

This is the USPS office I frequent, and I go during my lunch hour. As always, the parking lot is a disaster. The tiled floor looks rough, and the lighting is always so weirdly dim. It's always a gamble to see if you'll be here for a minute or 25 minutes, but the employees are great and work hard to conquer the line. Sometimes the energy seems dead inside because customers are in a rush to get in & out. I try to handle all my transactions online, but I do have to drop off my box. I can call a pick up, but I like to have a printed copy of my tracking information. Flat rate boxes are free. Insurance is worth it if you're shipping something expensive. They have a display of stamps available for purchase. Honestly the USPS website is all you need. USPS works at their own pace, but some customers also arrive ill-prepared for everything they need to change something or mail something out. read more

This is just a stop to for postal needs. There is nothing fancy or updated about this place, but you will be seen promptly. The people that work here are not that enthusiastic, but I'm not complaining. The job gets done. I had recently moved and had to get my mailbox rekeyed, took 2 weeks and $15 but it got done. Very dirty office. Carpets are nasty. Worker looks like doesn't want to be there. No smile, no greeting, felt like we were in a funeral. . She acted like we were inconveniencing her by having to process a passport. I feel bad for using my taxes to pay her. Postmaster and US Department of State, you need a better front line. read more

Mail in Chesapeake is ridiculous! I put 15 pieces of mail in the outgoing mailbox from my condo community and 6 weeks later, not one of the cards had been received! I called this location because that is where my mail carrier comes from and after calling and calling someone finally answers only to explain to me that my mail carrier probably didn't know that it was an outgoing mail box making it out as if it is MY fault that the carrier doesn't know how to do their job. It was in the Outgoing mailbox labeled "Outgoing Mail". Now I've wasted my money in stamps, the cost of my personalized wedding thank yous and the frustration of dealing with people who absolutely don't care about doing their job correctly. I will continue to call the post office each week and complain. This is not the first issue I have had with the employees at this location nor has it been the first time I've had issues sending or receiving mail. read more

Not an ideal place that I would want to find myself. But in an effort to ensure that I can go overseas, I had to pay these folks a visit to get my passport. My appointment was first scheduled a few weeks from now and this office had an appointment opening. I was in and out in just a few short minutes. Everybody dreads the post office like the DMV, but this location really has my "stamp" of approval. I frequent the P.O. a lot. I generally come here to ship packages to military & overseas, as well as ship items I personally sell within the states using Priority Mail delivery. The process is easy, hassle-free, and tracking is usually up to date and on time. The staff is consistent and efficient in handling transactions smoothly. During peak times there is someone who will expedite shipments (or what have you) to decrease the wait. Employees are nice and willing to answer questions and address any concerns you may have! My only qualm is, the parking lot has random scattered potholes and the concrete is at an awkward slant? Other than that, thanks for getting my packages out in time! read more

This post office is the closest to my work and the one I frequently visit to get things done. It is always busy and packed throughout the day. "The Good" - Drive up, drop boxes. The entrance driveway has a lane you can take to drop off letters. Buy your stamps somewhere else (Harris Teeter maybe) and then drop off everything in the drop box. - They have an expediter that will walk the line and prep the various customers with the various forms that need to be filled out with return receipts etc... - If you have prepaid labels from PayPal or are just dropping off you just need to wait to see the expediter and you do not need to wait in the entire line. - Decent location. "The Meh" - You cannot fault them for being busy and they have made strides to deal with the sheer amount of people that visit here throughout the day. But there are some serious lines here and not really a slow time to visit. - From the above hints, do not go during lunch. "The Bad" - There is nothing complaining is going help here.... The parking is terrible. I park illegally all the time just to drop off a package. I NEVER have any luck with the self service kiosk. The kiosk is either "off" or "limits" your transactions. When the kiosk is working to its potential, there ends up being so many packages in the drop off that the hatch gets stuck and you can't drop off your packages until opening hours. read more

After all the negative reviews I read, I was skeptical of coming here for the first time in years. After the experience I had, I was so glad I came to this location! I had the pleasure of being helped by Gail. I was mailing packages with customs forms and she was extremely patient helping to make sure I filled everything out correctly. She didn't act like I was a bother even though I thought I would be. The line was long but it moved quickly and every worker apologized for the wait. Super happy with this location! read more

I have never had a tracked package come up missing, "ever" until I moved to Chesapeake six months ago. Not just one package, but two now. Both packages were international and both packages have tracking numbers. The first package was shown on the truck for delivery. Never made it (May 14th). I had to go back to the Post Office three times to find out what was happening. I was told by the Manager that they spoke with the driver. One day, shortly after I spoke with the Manager, I waited for the Postman at my mailbox. I spoke with the driver. He did not apologize. He showed not emotion. He told me to submit a complaint. Wow! Like he knows that nothing will get done. Not a good feeling... It was no big deal for him to blurt that out to me. Reminded me of my experience at the Hampton VA Medical Center. Could it be that government workers don't care? I went back to the Post Office to complain about the encounter, and the Manager gave me a phone number to call for submitting a complaint. That was a 40 to 50 minute wait time. Wow! The second package tracking showed that on June 29th, the item was at this Post Office location. There was not delivery on Friday, the 29th. Not delivery on Saturday. Not delivery on Monday, July 2, or Tuesday, July 3rd. I went in to the Post Office Tuesday, July 3rd, and spoke with the Manager . I told her about not receiving my package; being the second international package that was never delivered. She told me that international packages are give directly to the delivery driver. I wonder if I am being ripped off... I told the Manager that she might have a thief among the troops. She again gave me a number to call to complain. Again, the wait time is 40 to 50 minutes. Not this time. I am submitting via the following website: https://www.uspsoig.gov/form/file-online-complaint I think that anyone having issues should file a complaint via the link above. Maybe, they will find the thief. Maybe the Postmaster General will send some funds to this location so they can fix the parking lot and use rope for the line instead of packaging tape. Looking at all the post here, this Post Office should post a sign with the Postal Inspectors number at the counter for all the customers to see. The delivery service is horrible. I routinely receive my neighbor's mail. Boxes are left at the wrong house. One day I had to chase the mail carrier who still had a box that should have been delivered to my house. read more

If I could give this post office no stars I would! This post office is very unprofessional and should be assessed by someone. I constantly have to mail my husband things from Boston to Chesapeake, it's fine once it leaves Boston but once it gets in their hands you can forget about it! Last time they misplaced my important documents I had sent to him for weeks. I also sent something for overnight delivery last week, and it is marked as delivered but my husband says he never got it. Why mark an item delivered that clearly was not, it's annoying. Especially if I ma paying extra to get something important to someone in a timely manner. Now they're unsure about where it is, just like the important paperwork I sent in the winter. I've been nice too long, soon I'm going to lose my cool. read more

Best customer service possible. Even on two Saturdays with a line to the door it was efficient, fast, and friendly.

Paid for express delivery. Checked the tracking on Friday June 29 and it said delivery would be Monday 2nd. When they came early on Saturday not expecting a package, I was in the back yard at the time and did not hear the door. So I rescheduled for Monday the 2nd. And got confirmation it would be deliver by 3pm Monday the 2nd. Never came. I called usps and all they can tell you is what's on the tracking screen, same thing I'm looking at, that now says Alert your package has been delayed with no explanation as to why and where and when I will receive. The actual post office phone# for this location takes the phone off the hook as soon as they come in, therefore not taking any calls. The 800 number I called sent a message to the supervisor of this location to get the package out today, still don't have. My regular mail came early and they closed there location earlier today than posted times because tomorrow is the 4th of July. My thoughts are they are in a hurry for their holiday and screw the customers. Worse experience I've ever had with a post office. They don't deserve one star. read more
