I swear on the job application it must say "are you incompetent"? If yes then you're hired!

I drove down to the Broad Street branch of the U.S. Postal Service and asked to speak with a supervisor regarding what appeared to be a misdirection of a package that I was expecting from overseas. I was told that they were not available and was told to give the clerk my name and telephone number along with my Postal Servi9ce online printout and someone (I'm not holding my breath!) would get back to. I'm still waiting. I thought the U.S. Postal Service was supposed to provide SERVICE! It appears that I was mistaken! With gas at nearly $4.00 per gallon, you would think that they would be a little more considerate of customers having to take their time and go out of their way to seek assistance! As a result, the official name of the U.S. Postal Service should be changed to the U.S. Postal Disservice. at least at the Broad Street branch in Portsmouth, VA. read more

This is the WORST PO that I have ever dealt with people have sent me mail back in December 12 -21 2023 and here it is January 2024 and I still haven't received my mail they said it take 3 weeks to get a mailbox key because I just moved to my new address so they said they would hold my mail and I STILL haven't gotten any mail I have NEVER had any issues getting mail until I moved to this area. The staff is friendly, but you'll be standing in line for AT LEAST an hour for the simplest thing. They need to get more staff or create a better process for handling customer needs. read more

I'm not sure who the older lady who works here is but her customer service is lacking to put it nicely. I came in yesterday about 10 minutes before closing so around 4:50. It was late and I understand how it feels to be close to the end of shift and having customers in your face. Who hasn't been there? I had some hiccups with delivery of an item I needed to put inside a care package to ship to my family member. I'm writing on the box as she's closing up and she comes up and says "We're closed." I ask if I would still be able to send my package.. "Yea but you need to write a little bit faster." What? Since when am I, as the customer, on your time? I was raised right so I bit my tongue on that one. But I think she needs a major reality check. You can't say whatever you want to just anybody. It'll come back to bite you eventually. I didn't check you but somebody won't be so nice. On top of that comment she made, she upset one other customer before me as well. All in the span of 10 minutes. I'm not sure what they argued about but she went back and forth with her which of course is highly unprofessional and totally uncalled for. I usually rate.public service locations a little harder than other businesses. This location was a real blessing to me today. I was in a hurry because I had just been told that I came 1, yes one, minute too late to be served at the Chowan Drive location. I was stressed when I arrived here. The workers were swamped with customers and most had a question before they completed their transactions but that was not a problem at the Broad Street location because they cared about providing their customers great service. At 459, one minute from their closing time a worker told an older gentleman not to worry because she would help him figure out a way to mail his package - don't worry we won't close unless it is ready to go. Another helped a woman tape up her package securely. I love the attitude of the postal workers here. They greeted each person with a simple hello and it made a difference in the atmosphere. They should be commended for their efforts. Not sure why the other reviews were so bad because this is my hometown and I have never had bad service at this location. This is my permanent location from now on. Yeah for Broad Street. read more

Mannnnnn, these people rocked. I asked my mail lady to hold my package , and I even asked the desk teller to call me when my plates for my vehicle arrived (as I was going on vacation with said car that day) and they called me! Super nice people. read more

Made an appointment online via usps.gov for a passport. Showed up, provided my appointment slip and was told "we don't do passports anymore". The clerk was rude, didn't offer any help or assistance. Provided me a list of other post offices in the area with inaccurate phone numbers. Terrible and rude. read more

I don't know why they even have a phone because you can call and call and no one ever picks up.....I had a package delivered into the wrong mailbox and I tried to reach them so the mail man could come back and put it into mines and they never picked up!!!My delivery was expensive and I'm sure one of my neighbors is enjoying my purchase!!Management needs to be replaced or someone needs to be hired to handle phone calls...this is a constant complaint...and whenever I go into the facility the manager is just sitting in his office !! read more

I would give it a zero star..How can some people go ou of there way and others can't. Stella today answered the phone and said the supervisor wasn't there. I called back 3 minutes later and guss what, yep he was there. This post office is a joke. My husband wanted to UPS but my sister said the post office is way better to get packages and mail. Wrong. I was told it would be here Friday or Saturday, the holiday didnt matter;. I am leaving Tomorrow night. NEVER HAVE ANY PACKAGES MAILED HERE ESPECIALLY IF YOU GET STELLA ON THE PHONE. Worst post office I've ever had to deal with. I ordered my mail box key within a week of moving into my new apartment. I called multiple times to check on the status of my key. Finally, after I'd say 10 calls in a 3 day period I got an answer. Only to find out that they skipped over my key and didn't even make it. 2 months later and I still don't have my mailbox key. read more

The supervisor was the most rude, condescending person I've come across in a post office. After our encounter while trying to pick up my package, which she made me wait until the next day, my package was suddenly missing when I went to pick it up the next day. I had to wait for a phone call saying they'd found it. Some of the workers are nice but that's hit or miss. Although this is the closest to me I drive out of my way for my postal service needs. read more

They do not give a fuck about ppl mail ... Went there to ask about something important that supposed to been came .around February ... Been going over there back n forth to check and see if it came back there. I was told it would have went back to the place it came from... So I contacted them.. it's been weeks now still no sign of the mail at post office r the place of business... I was told it may have got lost n mail r stuck n machine anything... It just seems weird to me that everything else comes with no problem but this specific piece of mail no sign ... I am really upset because it contains personal information... It's to many scammers out here for it to be just floating somewhere ... Just a week ago I mailed something important to my sister n georgia as a matter of fact two envelopes one was received and the other one never received ... It's crazy because once again it had important items n it.. I really feel like someone is tampering with the mail at the broad street post office .. this is getting rediculios and out of hand... I stopped at the post office on my lunch break at around 3 p.m. and there was no line at all, I was very shocked. I mailed out Mother's Day cards for my Mother and Aunt. Since I'm a very last minute person the card won't arrive until Monday but that's cool. The service here was fast and easy. read more

Agreed that this is a terrible post office. Besides having to stand in line for 30 minutes or more each time I visit, I have had two pieces of mail - both containing check - go missing. One was mailed from a house mailbox nearby and the other was taken directly to the post office to be sent... Both checks disappeared. The accounts were never charged or accessed, but the checks never arrived. I would recommend going to a different post office to send anything of importance or value. read more
