This review is for the U.S. Postal Passport Services located at the Kempsville Post Office branch. The branch is right off Kempsville Rd with parking in front for the office, but parking for passport is to the side. Customers will need to drive in back to enter. The lot is huge and signage is over the door. Of note this is the only passport service on the Southside. Appointments are highly recommended, but when slow they will take walk-in. Customers can compete forms online or in person. Check or debit card appear to be the only two forms of payment. Cash was not discussed however. There is plenty of seating as the area is spacious. Two agents were working and luckily caught at a slow weekday. The wait was short, the process easy and the customer service exceptional. My daughter who is 18 will have her passport in around six weeks. She also opted for a second form of ID the passport card. It's the size of a drivers license. It's somewhat newer. You can bring your own photo of official size, or opt for the agent to take. If picky bring your own, the photo for my daughter came out extremely light. My experiences with the post office have been average to weak, so this is a huge bump in confidence for the U.S. Postal Service. This post office is hit or miss. Sometimes there's a wait and sometimes you're in and out without missing a beat. On today there was no line. I was returning a package. The lady behind the counter wasn't personable at all. I tried talking to her but she shut that down quick. Lol... She wasn't rude she just wasn't there for the fun stuff. Smh. I got the hint, stopped talking and let her do her job... I mean I'm bubbly and a talker so moments like this kinda bum me out. But i don't know what kinda day the other person is having.. So i stay aware of that because back in the day I'd call it out on people real quick. Lol. I've matured... She printed the labels, gave me a receipt, and i was on my way. Theres not much to say. Immediately turn away from the main entrance and go to the side door if you are seeking a Passport. Huge sign on the entry door stating "Passport NOT HERE, go around the corner" I was a bit confused, around the corner? or around the building? The answer around the building. The side door that looks like an employee entrance. That's your door. Next make sure you have an appointment or they won't see you. I was helped out by Miss Martha. Long wait lines even before Christmas and now up to 40 minute wait. Parcel drop location great to avoid lines BUT they may or may not scan the items before they head off the Richmond and then sit there sometimes for DAYS! So if you are an e-commerce seller beware. You have no choice but to stand in line in order to force them to scan items! Only proof you shipped on time. Parking also an issue. I go (a little) out of my way to get to this post office. The Battlefield Chesapeake location is closest to me, but this location has an easy-to-navigate parking lot and friendly staff. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes in line and they have plenty of available Priority packaging for me to pick up, which I frequently do. This was my first time visiting this location. I actually did not visit the Post Office side, my reason for visiting today was to apply for a passport. The process was fairly smooth even though I was not fully prepared. The rep, Ms. Martha was super stellar! She was kind, patient and her customer service super over the top, I love it! We arrived about 10:45 am on Saturday (hours 7:30 am - 2:30 pm) and to our surprise it wasn't packed at all. Once you walk in, grab a ticket, complete the appropriate application and wait to be called. We were number 8. After about 10 mins of being seated, our number was called, but we were not ready. Ms. Martha advised... I will come back to you. She came back to us.. we sat in her work space and realized... well I realized I needed more information... nevertheless... I returned to the office about 12:45 pm and at that time we did not have to take another number... Ms. Martha remembered us and said she would be with us soon. After finishing up with a family, Ms. Martha motioned for us to come over... she handled our application... processed... we were out the door within 20 minutes or less. I'm not sure if this is the norm on any given Saturday, but the wait wasn't bad at all today. Now I will say, about 12:45 pm, the waiting area was pretty much full to capacity. I understand, Saturday's are the busiest day. During the week, Ms. Martha advised they are not busy at all. Walk-ins are welcomed Monday - Friday, 7:45 am to 4:30 pm and on Saturday's, 7:30 am to 2:30 pm. This is the only location that accepts walk-ins for passports. Everyone else, appointments are necessary. Plenty of seating inside, and plenty of parking. This office is located about five minutes from I64 and 10 mins or less from I264. Great location... pretty much everything is nearby, from eateries to shopping to work out facilities. I recommend you give this place a whirl. The two workers in the office today were on point! Went for a passport and was in and out in about 15 minutes. They were pleasant and it was super easy.

It's a post office with a strange entrance because the parking lot is one way. If you miss the turn, you have to go all the way around the mall to get to the entrance from the other side. Once inside, the PO has the usual. Boxes, packing supplies, clerks selling stamps, you name it. There is an automated kiosk machine. read more

I always have had a pleasant experience with this Post Office. The workers are always excited to help and do what they can to help. I don't frequent the post office that often so I am always kind of lost about how to ship things and the most cost efficient, ergonomic way of doing so. I came in to ship a huge package all the way to Washington state and the employee calculated it be over $100. The package was fairly light and the thing that was making it cost so much was the space. The employee worked with me to do what she can to lower the price and I only ended up paying half that. She was very cheery and pleasant and the post office wasn't crowded either. This would definitely be the post office to go to if I was living in VA beach still. read more

I've never had a problem here at all! All the postal workers have been helpful and very accommodating. There is always plenty of supplies out for shipping and good selection of boxes out even after hours. During the holidays I would suggest getting there as early as you can or wait until after 9 am it usually settles down. read more

Stay away from this location. I can NOT believe what just happened. I am in disbelief anyone could be so rude. 15 packages were not going to be picked up from my postman...I needed to take them to my local post office. Totally fine. I had prepackaged and labeled packages . I had never been to this location for parcel drop off. I didn't want to hold up the line longer by waiting with 15 packages, so I went to the parcel drop off. I saw it was at a door, and wanted to make sure it was okay to do so. I peeked my head to make sure it was okay. I said "excuse me". And then the man at the counter snapped and talked about ME to other customers. I felt intimated and humiliated. Never was I being rude. I was sincerely trying to make the line go faster for others.. Was it because I'm latina? Was it because I had my disabled child with me? I just wanted to make sure I was doing the right thing. I am a tough women but I left shaking and in tears. Acredale passport center! Aces! 10 thumbs up! This new center is located in the middle of the building and the entrance is separate from the main post office. The parking is when you go thru the "scary" employee only gate. Super duper fast and friendly service! Mike Watson was so awesome! He made everything so easy and was such a pleasure to have as a rep. Had an awesome experience there today. I was a walk-in but was told I had to have appt. I guess the agent saw the dispare on my face and told me to have a seat, and she would try to fit me in. I was seen in a matter of minutes and was out the door. I was treated with kindness and respect. I would recommend this place to anyone needing a passport. The agents there are exceptional. I live in Aragona the mail service has gotten terrible my father-in-law was told from the post office they have no control. Ok this is his meds I am talking about and Escripts to this day will not give him his refill that got lost because of careless mail handling. It is past time to get this corrected I hope this review helps everyone this is very serious these are not control drugs they are needed so it has cost him money he is a good person that has been done wrong he can only wait for package he has to go thru mail order. I hadn't been inside of a post office during the pandemic and didn't know what to expect. The line wasn't long. They're social distancing and wear and require customers to wear masks as expected. I thought both people at the front desk were friendly as well. I'd like a to see more desk space for those of us that may have to address envelopes or write a quick note or bill to add to the envelopes. They used to offer a desk to stand at in the lobby but I think it's been removed. I meant to check the stamp machine in case I need one after hours. I'll check the next time. read more

I am writing this review based on the experience I had getting my Passport on the other end of the Post Office in a different room. I was anticipating a long, agonizing experience but I was definitely wrong about that. That stigma was crushed! There were well over a dozen people in the waiting room and two clerks. I thought to myself I was going to be here forever! One of the clerks got up and directed me to pull a ticket in order to hold my place in line. She asked what I was there for. I told her I needed a passport and that I had lost the one I had. She was extremely friendly even while she was obviously helping out another customer at the time I walked in. She quickly handed me two forms... one for applying for a new passport and the other to report it lost/stolen. I was called probably about 15-20 minutes later. I thought NOT BAD! Once I reached the another clerk (A different lady than the one who helped me upon arrival) she asked to see my forms. She reviewed them and informed me I had not completely filled them out as they both had back pages! I thought she was going to throw me back into the waiting area but she very patiently waited for me to fill out the back pages! Meanwhile, she started setting up the camera to take my photo. She even allowed me to look at my photo and make sure I liked it!!! Once we sat back down, she asked where I was traveling. I told her St. Lucia and she was very inquisitive about the island because her and her sister were looking for somewhere to go that summer. The process was painless! And I even got to engage in a nice conversation. This location is very efficient. They definitely have it down pact as far as quick and great service! Even if there had been one hundred people waiting, I am sure these ladies would have handled it with the same positive attitude and grace. I am BLOWN away by the customer service here! I can't believe I was in and out in under an hour. I wish I knew the names of the clerks because they deserve a raise :) read more

Like most govt offices, the post office is kinda dated and has long lines. This one is no exception. I needed to apply for my passport so I came to this one as they take walk ins. I had everything together so I thought I could just be in and out. Friday afternoon I went in and walked my ass right outta there... why? There had to be at least 25 people ahead of me! Side note: Friday afternoons, Saturdays, and Monday mornings are the worst time to come in. So in I come on a Thursday morning at 7:45.. only 4 people ahead of me this time! I was given a number by the friendly employee and waited about 20 minutes for my turn. I'm sad I didn't get the gentleman's name because he was so kind and upbeat he made me forget it was 8AM! He got my application together in a pinch and I was on my way! The post office itself has never served me wrong as I can always find boxes/envelopes I need and the kiosk is super easy to use and accessible even after hours. Parking here is tricky as it's only one way in and out so that part is annoying. Try to park in the back behind the building and you'll be good. read more

The staff at this location deserve a raise! They consistently provide the best service at any USPS I have ever been to. They are certainly #1 for me in Virginia Beach. This past Saturday, I strolled in at closing to ship a package completely oblivious to what time it was. The clerk (I did not catch her name) went out of her way, AFTER CLOSING TIME, to show me how to use the self serve kiosk to ship my package! When have you heard of such things??!! I would like to see an update for zero stars I am being honest! I went into the retail location of my local post office today and had a "conversation" with Barbara. She told me that there wasn't a supervisor available to talk to me when I asked for one VERY NICELY. After a very spikey one sided conversation Barbara had with me she said "step over to the side I'll get a supervisor" I said a little snippy this time but no where near a rude as I could be "you're lying bc you just told me that no one was available."She yelled VERY loud, YOURE A LIAR! She then went into the back and spoke to an employee who was senior but not a supervisor "Number 1 for the day, she's out front! Yepp number 1 already" Not only was this very unprofessional and rude comment yelled across the back room, I could hear it and so could the other patrons in the lobby. I am giving this location four stars but by no means for it's speed. It's a Post Office, plan to be standing in line a bit. The reason I give it four stars is because the employee's have always been helpful and they have a kiosk that is in the lobby that stays open until midnight. The kiosk is really what gets it the higher rating. Since the Post Office closes the doors at 5pm sharp having the ability to use the kiosk for your label and then dropping it into the bin is great benefit for me. Not a bad post office; I've never received bad service here. It's not my PO of choice, it was before when I lived in the Kempsville area, but now it's too far for me. Anyway, staff is efficient, and like I said, they've always provided good customer service. My only complaint is that if you park on the Kempsville side, the exit is such a steep hill/high incline. It's really hard to get out sometimes, especially when there are so many cars that won't let you through, or if you have a low car and have to drive slowly down the hump and back onto the main road (Kempsville) during rush hour. I suggest parking in the back if you can. If you have an SUV or big car, you should be ok. :) read more

This location is small but adequate with packing materials available for purchase. An automated postage kiosk is located in the lobby which has 24-hour access. Normally I do the Click & Ship online and have it picked up during my mail delivery however, every once in awhile I like to get out and have interactions with other humans. This post office is the closest to my house and I've come a few times already just to ship out a few small packages. My first time, I couldn't figure out how to get in and ended up having to do a u-turn and come back around. Then it turns out I parked on the side that does the passports. There are plenty of spaces but there is a one way in that gets you closer to the door. I haven't ever waited more than 10 minutes in line. I don't know if that is due to the times I choose to go or what but I love it! The workers are always nice and smiling. One even talked about furbabies and we showed each other pictures of our dogs!! I'm not a go to the post office every week type, but when I need to send a non priority package this is where I'll come! read more
