Sushi boat

Sushi, affordable, large menu, saki One of my favorite local Sushi restaurants in the triad. I love sitting at the sushi bar and watching them prepare the food. On this trip, there were 4 of us- we ordered chefs selection sushi boat. The price was great for a lot of food. Chef chose a great variety. This is not the fanciest place, but that's what makes it such a great after work or casual weekend place to be. Full bar, and large Saki selection. For the non sushi lovers- they serve hibachi and several other Japanese dishes..

This place was recommended to me by several people. I finally got around to trying it and I was not disappointed! The lunch specials were so affordable and the service was quick. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean and well decorated.

One of the most reliable Asian spots in the Triad. I prefer this one to the one in Friendly center, as their service is stellar! Over the years I have been eating here, I have had great experiences for dinner. Everything I've had has been great. We tend to start with soup, salad, or edamame. Then, onto a sushi boat! They have a great variety of options rolls, and their specialty rolls are huge. The nigiri is fresh. Overall, the consistent quality keeps us going back.

This is one of our favorite sushi restaurants. We were seated as soon as we arrived. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She got our drinks as we filled in the sushi menu with our order. We ordered 2 squid salads, the sashimi deluxe and several rolls. All of it came out fresh and delicious! They have updated the inside and it looks fantastic. Definitely recommend!!

It's been a long long time since my last review of Shinko Grill, and really everything I wrote has…read moreexperienced some kind of change, so I wanted to update it for the post pandemic era. Since then, the half price sushi hours are no longer in effect, replaced with more standardized lunch specials and combinations. Three basic rolls for x, two specialty rolls for x, etc... as well as specials on hot food and the like. Due to this, I just haven't found myself there very often, and until my experience last week it had probably been two or three years honestly. We came during lunch hours on a Saturday. The lunch specials are good every day, not just weekdays, so that is a good thing. Ordering was simple enough, still done at the counter, given a number, go have a seat. Drinks still self-serve, no wait staff or the like which is totally fine. We ordered a general tso's chicken combination with fried rice and an egg roll, a basic two roll combination of sweet potato tempura and Ro Roll, and a two speciality roll combination that I honestly cannot remember the specific names of. There were also crab rangoons. My first area of dismay, even though we were eating there, everything came in to-go containers creating a ton of trash and waste. Plastic utensils, cups, everything. This was not the case in the past. I guess they've done the financial math that it's cheaper than dishwashing, but it's terrible for our environment. It would have been better if things even came combined on paper plates than this. As to the food, we were disappointed. Nothing other than the sushi and maybe soup appears to be made there, definitely true for all fried things. Rangoons came with plain duck sauce. Egg rolls the size of your index finger. Sushi wise, the sweet potato tempura roll was the best of the bunch. The fish tasted fine, nothing off putting there, but also nothing pleasant. The flavor combos just didn't make me want to eat more... and they were all crammed into to-go sushi trays with dry horseradish ("wasabi") It is not common for me to leave sushi pieces for the trash, but I did this time. Ultimately, the things that used to draw me here just didn't seem to be in place. But the price isn't bad at all. If you are more concerned with value, and don't mind some of the things I listed above, this place could work for you.

Inside was very clean, staff super attentive, and the meal delicious. While not as popular as they used to be, I still think a teppanyaki table dining experience is super fun. I like the entertainment and theatrics part of it all. This time since we came closer to closing, our foursome got a table to ourselves which is even better. Our Chef was very entertaining, friendly, and presented us with a very generous portion. To start we ordered some bottles of cold, filtered sake to share. For my Hibachi Dinner Entree, I ordered the Scallops and Chicken Combination. For the proteins themselves, I got my scallops first. They were varying sizes, but had a good sear on them all. Super buttery and yummy. Chicken was the last protein prepared but once received it was very tasty. As standard, the meal comes with the Japanese clear/onion soup which has a few mushrooms, broth, and some little noddles in it. I love soup so I am always happy with this starter. It was warm, flavorful, and a larger sized bowl than you get at similar places. Next is the salad, for which I selected the robust ginger dressing. It's a basic green salad, but the robust ginger is supposed to be a bit spicier and has a deeper color. Not sure there a was major difference from typical ginger, but I liked it. Up next is my personal favorite, the fried rice. We were given so much fried rice, wow. I was glad to see they still include egg even with prices going up. The rice was super fluffy and flavorful. The zucchini and onions were sautéed nicely in soy sauce and again a huge portion, which makes you feel a bit better to eat it with more rice. They still do the 2 appetizer shrimps here which was a nice surprise. Finally, the sauces. It might be the best part of these places. I kinda feel bad saying yes to every sauce they offer, but I love them all. Ginger, White, Hot Sauce, Teriyaki, and Hot Mustard. I don't know what Japanese restaurants do when they make their Hot Mustard sauce, but it is far superior to any bottled option I have tried from a Grocery store (they are just too horseradishy it's so much more balanced here). Wish I could buy it by the bottle. I also like to mix Sriracha in the White sauce, it cuts down on the sweetness a bit. I ate so much and still had a full to-go box to take from for another meal (honestly two). So while an entree price in the $30 and above range may seem high, you are getting appetizer, entree cooked to order, and another full meal. It's a great (and delicious) deal. Fire and Stick is a little bit of a drive from home for me, but I was extremely satisfied with my meal and recommend!

My…read morebest friend and I were on a road trip from Richmond, VA to Asheville and this was the halfway point. We were heading to AVL for my bachelorette and throughout the weekend we kept going "GOD THAT RAMEN WAS SO GOOD!" We came on a Wednesday evening. It took a little to get seated and service was on the slower side, but it was worth it. There was a lot of indoor seating and we were seated at a booth. They have mens and womens restrooms at this restaurant. And a lot of free parking out front in their parking lot. We started off with an Alaska roll as an appetizer. This was really delicious! We knew we were off to a great start. I got the black garlic ramen and my best friend got the red spicy oil ramen. We were in heaven. This ramen is beyond delicious. The rich garlicy broth of mine was perfection. Each element was so yummy. I would drive the 3.5 hours back just to get this ramen again. I highly recommend going.

He (an African American male) was treated terribly from the moment he went inside. First, the receptionist acted funny toward him and non-friendly, as if he was stealing someone else's order. That was strike number 1. Then, when he got home, we realized our order was absolutely wrong. We were missing the Spider Rolls and the yellow tail. We spent almost $70 so of course, this was irritating. He called the restaurant on his way to get the missing items and once again, the receptionist was rude. She questioned if he knew what yellow tail and spider rolls looked like. Questioning and insulting his intelligence as a grown man. That was strike number 2. He asked to speak to a manager and he said there wasn't one and he would need to come tomorrow to speak to one....yeah ok. He told her that wouldn't be necessary because he was pulling up to the restaurant in about a minute. When he came in she continued to argue with him about his order and told him, he needed to bring it back...why would he bring back the items that were right in the order, when he was there for the MISSING ITEMS?! Not to mention, that's extremely unsanitary! She would not help him but instead argued so badly with him that the chef had to come out of the kitchen. The receptionist spoke to my husband as if he was a child. She talked to him as if he was a thief and a liar. Strike number 3. The chef then told my husband, he would take care of the missing items for him and to not worry. Now, why couldn't the receptions in treat him with the same respect and dignity that the chef did? I'll tell you why. She racially profiled him because of the demographics of the city where the restaurant is located. She treated him as if he was uncultured, ignorant, and a liar. We will never be back and will be sure to write every single person that matters and leave reviews all over the internet exposing this racist establishment. I will be sure that everyone knows exactly what happens when a black person enters the restaurant.

After placing a call to Little Tokyo to confirm they too weren't filled to capacity, we headed there for our sushi fix, and it made me regret not having visited sooner. Little Tokyo boasts a pleasant, relaxing ambiance that made it a welcome refuge from the night's rather intense rain. The menu here is Japanese (sushi, sashimi, hibachi, etc.) albeit with some Korean and Chinese influences. The selection of sushi rolls is extensive, and quite a few of them sounded intriguing. Admittedly, the Italian (a California roll topped with white fish, tomato sauce, and cheese) was a bridge too far even for me. My wife and I came hungry and went with two apps (steamed dumplings and vegetable gyoza), four rolls, and two misos. The food was, across the board, quite good. Whereas some miso can blast you with salt, Little Tokyo's broth benefitted from an underlying richness. Our sushi was beautifully plated and tasted fresh. Of the rolls we tried, the Bulgoki (beef, crab, cucumber, and eel sauce) was my favorite. Prices here are reasonable for the quality of the food (rolls in the low-mid teens, most apps under $10), and severs are polite. The kitchen isn't lightning fast, but we didn't find the wait unreasonable. Based on ratings, I expected "good," and based on hunger levels and a desire to be out of the rain, I would have settled for "OK." Little Tokyo, however, ended up being surprisingly great.
