I was shipping my car from San Diego CA to Charlotte NC and looked into multiple companies. I…read moreultimately picked Auto Express, despite them being $300-$500 more than some of my other quotes because they advertised NOT using brokers and ONLY using their own fleet for transport. This ended up not being true so I spent way more money for no extra reassurance. The pickup was supposed to be at their downtown office location on a Friday night around 6pm. They said it would be easier for me to just drop it off and not worry about timing so I made dinner plans my last night near downtown, however I got an expected call that afternoon the driver was at my house for pickup in North County. I wasn't even home and was running errands. He came back 2 hours later and I then had to spend $75 on an Uber to dinner since I no longer had a vehicle. Drop off was supposed to be on Friday, but ended up being Saturday. No biggie, except it turned into a whole ordeal. I get a text that the car is already dropped off at a Walmart parking lot 30 minutes away from my location. They claimed it was the zip code I provided, however there is email documentation of the address I sent them of where I was at (and there happened to be a Walmart 2 miles away if they wanted to do drop off in that type of parking lot). I was initially told the driver couldn't wait and I would need to wait until the following day or he would need to drive to Raleigh for another drop off and back and get my car in 6 hours, however he did end up waiting. They also asked if he could just leave my key in the center console, but I said no since my belongings were there and that was too big of a risk. I had to pay $31 for an Uber to the Walmart however they DID Venmo me back for this, so I'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1 because I do appreciate that much!! The delivery driver was super nice, however informed me that he DOES work for a broker company and does not work for Auto Ex. I had tried to confirm this with Auto Express Inc at pickup when I noticed the inspection email came from a different company and couldn't get a direct response from them. They said they were "part of their fleet", but I guess that's open to interpretation. The driver showed me texts from the company to him and that the Walmart parking lot was the drop off address he received from the start and there were no talks of any other provided address. I would give the delivery company 3-4 stars! They did a good job and my car arrived in good condition.

I've never driven a truck before but this was a icee of cake! The truck brakes were perfect! It was quiet and ran great! The air conditioner was amazing too! What a difference between this truck and a UHaul truck. I drove straight through only stopping for stretching breaks. The price is what impressed me the most. With insurance, it was $584.00. The rear view and side mirrors made me drive with confidence. I wouldn't go with any other truck rental company than Penske. They have quality trucks and I felt very safe driving through Los Angeles traffic in it!

They don't have many trucks on site, so be sure to reserve early online so they can ensure they transfer trucks as necessary. Renting online will get you a discount and they will offer you additional discounts when you pick up the truck. (AAA and Military) They are conveniently located and have great hours. The trucks are better maintained and cheaper than Uhaul, at least with the experience we've had. The only complaint I have is that the rental counter is at the far East side of the building and the trucks are on the West side. So you end up dragging a noisy hand truck (dolly) through the entire parking lot to do the inspection and pick up your truck...and drop it off.
