I'd give zero stars. This is the worst post office. Always seems like there's only one employee in the entire building. The customer service door is supposed to open at 10am but rarely opens until 10:15am while the whole lobby has a long line of people waiting. read more

Services stop way before the hours of business posted outside; and the employees just don't care and refuse to abide by it and refuse you service even if you made it inside behind the gate. The front door does remain open until the time posted so if you are just picking up your mail from your PO box, you will be fine. If you need actual services, plan to arrive 2 hours before the "closed time" posted. read more

Not sure about the previous reviews, but I came in a few minutes after they opened at 10:06am this morning. Nobody was in line. Only one lady running the front. Her name was Claudia. She explained that their system was having issues and I may not get a receipt with my tracking, luckily for me it worked. I was able to send my package and get my receipt with tracking. Friendly & fast service this morning! I was in & out. Parking was not an issue it's a big parking lot, next to a save mart. It's not the nicest area, there's sadly a lot of homelessness in the area, it's sad to see. However inside was very neat and clean! I got the service I needed and it was very prompt. If I ever need to mail a package or buy mailing supplies, I would be back to this location. read more

Worst office in town. They close gate 15 minutes before closing. The only post office that do that in town. The workers here must hate their job always so unhappy because there's a long line. Maybe hire more people. read more

Wish I could give this place a zero. They are constantly loosing my mail. On a weekly basis, I get mail from other houses and not my address. The help at the actual office is also very poor. They do the absolute minimum they have to do to help the customer. An example, today I had to pick up a package, the post office closes at 5:00 and at 4:30, the person at the window refused to help me. It isn't that she is going home - what is the point of being open until 5 if you close a window at 4:30. read more

The Hammer Ranch USPS office has pathetic service. There's no fault with the lady at the counter. She is working 100% efficient. The line is usually out the door. This office is too busy for just one open window. Where is the manager? Very poor management. This office needs a DOGE investigation. read more

Staff couldn't figure out how to get me a key to my group mail box resulting in my important mail being returned to sender. I now have an issue where a federal check from the IRS says was delivered but was NOT! I cant get thru to anyone and work regular business hours. This is so irritating, I cant imagine that the federal employees are really out here stealing mail, but then again I'm dealing with it now so I guess they are. They throw your packages anywhere in front of your house and often mysteriously disappear. read more

I go here a few times a week. The staff try to help me save money. The prices seem to change by the week and at least once they tried to change me too much, but I asked them to double check and I was right that it was too much. They do it all day so I expect mistakes. I always watch them and make sure to know what they are doing. The location is located in a kind of run down area and there's lots of homeless around. I haven't had to wait long, but sometimes the staff seem to take long on some people. read more

horrble service from the same lady again! 8/25/23 around 1:15pm older white lady working by herself again refusing to take my mail to send all because i didnt buy a bubble mailer from them .. i had a media mail package with a priority bubbler and she refused it because the bubble mailer said priority mail on it and not the one she pointed out to me to buy. This is the second time she's given me bs last time same lady refused to mail some standard mail with trading cards in it and she was all bending and them back n forth and ruined my mail and told me it was non machineable and then the other lady said it was fine she pulled out some kind of template that you slide envelopes through to determine machineable but I refused because the other lady destroyed my mail by bending it " it was valuable Pokémon cards" that i sell. So with todays problem i feel like it was some kind of retaliation... we don't need people like this handling our mail.... Get rid of her! Or put her in a different department from now on I'm going to the other post office across town which sucks because this one is the closest on to home. read more

I don't even use the post office normally and now I remember why. All I needed was an envelope and the cashier clerk made it seem like it was the end of the world for me to ask for one. I wouldn't even had to ask for an envelope in the first place had they had their inventory stocked in the first place. I will not be returning to this location anymore read more

Seriously ... THE WORST post office I've been too. The lines are always long! Especially after lunch time, be prepared to wait in line for at least 30+ mins. The customer service is bad. I hate going in to ask questions because they act as though your bothering them. Sorry if I'm making you do your job! They either act rude or like zombies. Not to mention they all move at a snails pace. The lines would definitely move faster if the staff worked faster. Recently shipped a package for overnight delivery. When I checked the tracking I found out that it was put in for 2 day delivery instead. Tried calling the post office to see that happen. That was a joke. The phone just rings and rings when you call this location. They won't pick up. So now if I need to go get a refund, I'll have to stand in line again for another 30+ mins. Ridiculous! So when it was my turn the lady ask for the tracking number I pulled my phone out to show her and she gone rush me and say "just give me your address!" I gave her my address she ask me to spell it out to her which I did so then she said "all you had to say was EL Capitan" I'm like....daaaang so unpatient I understand everyone has their moments but...a job is a job just know when you are working and what you have to deal with when working . I came to pick up a package today. Usually, when mail is delivered to my house, they just leave the package at my door, but instead, they left a notice saying that they stopped by. I could have them re-deliver it but I've since moved out of my mother's house. I was at the pick-up door, which was closed. I rang it five times and no one answered so I went to wait in line. Then someone said that if anyone needs to pick up mail, we have to go to the door on the side. I said I did but no one showed up. I went to the door on the side again and I ranged it three times before someone finally showed up and said rudely, "I heard you the first time, the second time, and third time. Give us time to get to the door." Psh, I rang it 8 times total! Maybe if you weren't wearing high heels and taking your sweet time, I wouldn't have to ring it a million times. The door needs to be open during business hours. I also don't appreciate the constant soliciting occurring outside their office. They need to have a security guard. read more

This place is almost always crazy busy, but the employees have always been friendly & I have to give them props because I know I'd be losing my mind with some of the rudeness they have to put up with. They decided not to deliver my package once because "there was a dog." There was not a dog. I watched postal worker fill the mailbox, then hop back in the car. Then lifted my package, looked at it, and drove away. There was no attempt to re-deliver, or any sort of notification. I just recently purchased a home in Stockton, and in less than 2 weeks my mail was stolen out of our mailbox. I had to file a report with the Police department which I have never heard from them. I have called the Post Office to no avail, the phone goes straight to a busy signal (209)957-5436. I also have purchased a PO box, but they keep putting mail in my mailbox at home. Never had an issue with getting in and out while buying the occasional stamp or while sending a package. The employees at the counters have always been fast and friendly to me. I'm usually in there anywhere from 12pm - 3pm. The line to pick up your mail is always long though. Thank God I don't ever have to pick anything up, judging by the looks on everyone's miserable faces it seems like maybe they've all been waiting quite awhile for their turn. And it's like that every single time I've stepped foot into the place. The location is convenient for me as I live close by and there really never is any trouble in the parking lot, but there is the occasional solicitor or two trying to get you to sign their petition or donate to the homeless. read more

I bought two envelopes and complimentary stamps, I was thrilled by I believe her name was Van, whose attentiveness and efficiency was truly epic. When I looked over my stack of books and two fresh envelopes, I commented to her did I leave behind my stamps? She had affixed them to each envelope for me I complimented her for the perhaps third time on the efficiency piece over my shoulder as I continued to enjoy my Saturday. read more

I told them what happened and they informed me they can not open it till the specific time that it is suppose to be. I've been to two of the post offices in Stockton (this one and West Ln) and I really prefer this one. Of all the times I've been there, there have been at least two people working. They're friendly and happy to help. Yes, the lines can be long, but they seem to move fast. Also this one is part of a shopping center so there's plenty of parking compared to the West Ln. post office. read more

Their waiting time is just so ridiculous. There's only 6 people who are ahead of me to pick up their package and it takes an hour... An hour. Really? With 6 people waiting to get their package it should take about 10 minutes. Not only that, the lady who took care of business for us just literally strikes out. She wrote our phone numbers down wrong even when we repeated it to her. Strike one. She went on to write out our address wrong without asking what our address was. Strike two. When we told her our mail key no longer fit in the mailbox, she asked "Is it for your mailbox or for everyone else's?" Why would we open anyone else's mailbox? Strike three. And then after we told her our issue and information, she said "ok" and was about ready to close the door on us until we had to ask, "so what happens next?" That was the home run. The line here is always very long. If you are looking to pickup mail/certified mail, do not stand in the line where the clerks and registers are. When you enter the building, if you walk straight ahead there is a grey door and a black doorbell that you will need to ring for service. If you are here to apply for or pick up mailbox key then that is where you'll need to go as well. read more

Worst phone customer service. Lady who answers phone on Saturdays won't even listen to your issue. I've opened a case regarding my item that was missent thrice to my old address(eventho a change of address has been made 12/30/12). I was advised by USPS.com to call this branch to make sure they get my package redirected to my new address in modesto. I have been tracking my item daily and it keeps bouncing from the LA to Sac to Stockton. Lady just kept cutting me off and kept telling me to call Modesto branch. Why would I call modesto branch when modesto doesn't even have my package? Didnt even bother to get my tracking# and check what's going on. Worst phone customer service ever... Smh.. read more

I have two incidents where I went into the post office mailed a prepaid envelope with the clerk at the front desk. And my package never got to it's designation. It appears you have to request a tracking number/ barcode for every piece of mail that you send out of hammer lane post office and pay an additional fee for tracking number. read more
