Garbage. Slow service, uninformed service, plain bad phone line. -This post office actually made me root for Donald Trump to shut the government down. Shut them all down. read more

This location has progressively gotten worse in last 6 months. First they stopped the 24 hour access to the po boxes which is why I signed up here in the first place. Now hours are 6am-7pm but not really. For the third time now they have either not opened yet or closed early today 10/13/14 they closed at 6:51pm last week they weren't open by 6:32 am. I'm screwed as my business uses the designated po box for everything so I can't move but I can continue to complain. read more

This post office is a little cavernous, you have to take some steps down from the street to get to the main part. It is a little cramped and dingy, but you can get your mail out from here which is the important thing I suppose. I was here once around 2pm and it wasn't very busy and was there once just before close and it was busy. When it was busy the little do-it-yourself parcel station was slower than than the regular line. The regular wasn't lightning fast but for being at the back of a pretty long line the wait was only about 10 minutes. There might be some better post offices that aren't flooded with a study body as large as UW but for being close I don't mind going here at all. read more

I wish I could give 0 star. It's true the wait is long and I don't mind that, since this is a government agency, I had no expectations. I just can't stand the fact that they don't care. Don't care about their jobs at all. The middle aged woman aka clerk 10 (I forgot to look at her name tag) did everything possible to try to avoid helping all of her customers. I watched and listed to her trying to persuade people that their packages have not arrived yet just so she didn't have to get up to check in the back. And when she finally did, lo and behold, the package was there. If only she had put in a little bit of effort to do a better job in the first place, she could safe both herself and the customer a lot of pain. I have to seek out the wonderful Wallingford location everyone's talking about b/c I really don't want to go back to this location again. read more

How boring to write a review of a post office. I'll make it quick. Pros: - Friendly, pretty Asian cashier - they will send your mail Cons: - Irritatingly slow service - sort of depressing lighting, making waiting in line even more disheartening. I think you can handle it, though. read more

Their staff is great which is why they get a 4 star review. I put a package down and automatically the teller says, "Okay let's figure out the cheapest way tho ship this." Perfect. I'm all about the cheap. Their automated machine wasn't working which sucked because that would have saved me another 10 minutes but considering it was a Saturday, I wasn't at all disappointed. The lines are always long at USPS. If you want shorter lines go to a FedEx or UPS store. That's why they're there. read more

Horribly slow, which figures, because it IS a post office after all. Do they care? Probably not. They're government employees...as long as they get their benefits and pensions, they don't really gives a rats behind about customer service or speed...or efficiency. Also, those tile steps leading down to the PO have GOT to be a health hazard. Try walking down those in the rain. Oofta. read more

Up until today I've only used the self-service machines, due in part to the somewhat negative reputation this place seems to uphold. I mustered up the courage to brave the front desk and was met with a smiley bald guy whom quickly stamped, sorted and sent off the stack of domestic and international letters I was delivering. His friendly demeanor and swift work surprised me to such a degree that I stood there dumbfound for a moment, unable to comprehend the situation - having become accustomed to the idea of this place being just a bunch of crap. It does look a bit manky though, doesn't it. read more

It took me many years of undergrad to realize there was a post office near the UW campus. You can hardly tell it's a post office unless you actually look up and see the tiny text at the top of the building (better seen across the street). The stairs/ramp down smell like pee and are slippery (hopefully not from pee but from rain, I tell myself). Sometimes they don't unlock all the doors, so you walk to the one where you know the end of the line is, only to find out you have to go back and come through the earlier door and then wade through the crowds of people standing in line. Like others have said, the service here is really slow! No matter what random time I come here...before they open, mid-morning, lunch, afternoon..there is always a minimum wait of 25mins. The building is huge, I know there are more employees back there. Seriously. read more

Canceled my PO box. One employee told me that if I cancel before the day I have paid through, I get money reimbursed for the days I had not used. So a few days later I canceled my PO box before the date I had paid through, and after it had been canceled, she told me that if it's less than X days before the date I had paid through, I get nothing paid back. They refused to pay me my key deposit back, and went so far as to insist that they never collected one. They did. Also claimed that they no longer collected key deposits. Okay, cool, but that doesn't change the terms I agreed to when I agreed to give them money that I would get back when I returned my keys. They also returned-to-sender my prescription, even though I had a forwarding address on file with this USPS post office. So unhappy with this place. -4/10, 0 stars out of five, would not recommend. read more

It's a US Post Office, it's to be expected that there will be a wait. However, this location does get a lot more traffic since it's centrally located near UW and there are often more patrons that need longer assistance time because of sending packages abroad. The staff here are friendly, and it would be great if there were more staff, but with budget cuts, one just has to prepare for the wait. My advice is to go earlier in the day, and avoid the lunch and before closing rush. If you want faster service, then I'd recommend going to the Wallingford US Postal Office, I've never had too long of a wait there, or the downtown one also has more people working there. Or, go to UPS or FedEx and pay that much more. With all of that said, I find myself coming to this location more because of the convenient location to UW. read more

Very bad in delivery package. Tacking system says delivery and left in parcel box, but they didn't left the key to parcel box more then 3 days .Try to call several times and no response. Customer service is very rude. Manager Pak unreachable and newer calls back. It is second month we have same problem and my mother 94 years old left for 2 days w/out medication. This medication is necessary for her survival. read more

Why do I still a hold a PO box here? I ask myself all the time. I have a love/hate relationship, mostly hate. After almost 10 years of renting a box, they shut it down and sent my mail back, after paying late (yeh, i know it's my bad, but i need to get this off my chest). I love the post office as a building, but the services let's just say they are up to par with government standards. read more

NOT happy. There are signs posted all over telling us to wear masks, social distance, etc. but the two people working there always had their mask below their noses, and would lower their mask below their mouth to talk or shout to each other, spewing germs all over the room and into the air. They are asking everyone else to mask up but they're not. When they would walk away from the counter they would pull their masks down so their mouth and noses were in the open air. So they think all the air in the office is not connected? The whole place would be filled with virus in the air if either of them are infected. I wonder how many people they would infect. and they have a higher chance of being infected because A. they're not wearing masks (yes it does help the person wearing the mask and B. they are in contact with a whole lot of people every day. So they're exposing us to them. The man was really nasty to everyone too. He snapped at a number of people for no reason as far as I could see. He snapped at everyone. The woman was really nice to me and very helpful. She saw the look on my face, and although she had helped 3 people ahead of me with her mask flapping down below her mouth, she put it up when I got there, and made a comment about the look on my face. But if they're infected the air in there is full of virus, so covering for one customer won't help. Not going back here. I generally like the post office and their prices and would rather use them than UPS, but this was pretty bad. read more

This place is underground, and the stairs leading to it tend to get very slippery during the rain. It's usually surprisingly crowded whichever time of day you go in, so make sure you have enough time to be in line for a while. The only reason why I am giving it a 3 stars instead of a 2 is because there's one lady who works there who's very friendly and is always smiling. Makes your wait a bit easier to stand. read more

It wasn't as bad as what most people commented. The staff there was nice. They were not super enthusiastic but were helpful and patient with my questions. The line wasn't long at all when I went there. I went on a Tuesday afternoon around three. There were only two counters so I can imagine the line being long during busy hours. They have all sorts of envelops and boxes available and several self service machine. And finally, please have the option to speak with a customer service representative. It's just wrong not to have that option. read more

Just do not come in. The line takes forever, there is one person doing the work and she barely knows what she is doing. 40 minutes in line and I still waiting to get my mail. read more

Two slow ass workers during the BUSIEST PART OF THE DAY. They don't even send packages as soon as possible when paid extra! They just SLOWLY MIGRATE AROUND whilst chatting with people. I'm going to punch them in the throats during the next time I go - IF I EVER GO. read more

Every time I come in this place to mail something, I'm almost compelled to jump over the counter to do it myself. There is absolutely NO reason why this place has to be so slow. None. I also love it when the line is almost out the door, and the people working there passive-aggressively feel like there's no impetus for them to move any faster. There seems to be a commitment to a pace that never, ever speeds up. There's also a serious missing element of customer service here, that makes almost all of my experiences frustrating. Plus, the paid street parking makes things even worse. Another concern I have is about mail times. I'm not sure why, but it seems like stuff going out of this Post Office usually has an extra day tacked on to it. If I send something Priority Mail, I know it will definitely arrive there at the end of the three-day mark - whereas when I send it from other places, it's gotten there in as few as one. Two at the latest. Odd. I don't send perishables from here because that extra time really makes a difference. read more

Very friendly and professional employees. Insanely slow. Expect to wait 20-30 min. no matter when it is or how many people are in line. I agree with other reviewers, it almost seems like they are trying to be slow. Also, they tend to lose things here. I was given a notice to pick up a package and went there literally 3 times, each taking more than 30 minutes waiting for them to look for my package. They kept sending me away and telling me to come back later. Turns out the package was sitting by the PO boxes the whole time, and the employee told me it "shouldn't have been there." Ugh!! I'm glad I live close because this would be a nightmare otherwise. So 5 stars for friendliness, 1 star for efficiency. read more

I called these guys when i was upset by the Wallingford PO's ways of answering ??s. I spoke with a cogent, articulate, knowledgeable person. I spoke with the manager who offered to go well beyond his scope of responsibilities to help me out. Their superb courtesy is a huge example how experts at customer service model and teach really liking people and helping them. read more

I'm not sure why people can complain about the speed... It's near a UNIVERSITY and on a busy street plus USPS with similar surroundings are bound to have long linge. Near a huge UNIVERSITY = rush hour from 9 to 4 esp lunch time. My only complaint is: while they do open all counters sometimes, but not all the time. But it could be because they don't employ enough people to work at the counters and at the back? Always go in from the U-District side when it's raining because the steps going down on the other side's long and not..gentle. But go in the door on the 43rd side since that's where the line start. I'm a fan in a sense that if I'm in a hurry I'll go there but if I'm not I def would not go there. read more

I started using this post office almost 6 years ago when I began my undergrad at UW. Since then I have moved to a different area with an atrocious post office. I still work in the U-district and would rather bring all my packages to be mailed to THIS location. The service here is great. Yes, the workers may not be JOVIAL without being prompted but I always feel comfortable talking with them about how their day is going, making jokes, etc. Just today I had a great experience with the employee Mark. I said I wanted stamps and he brought the whole box over to me so I could pick the ones I liked. I like this post office. I don't really understand people giving bad reviews because the line was long... If you go to a post office at peak hours expect lines. Yes, they do not have a full staff available always because the USPS is broke and probably can't employ that many people. Even when I have waited in a long line here the service is always thorough and nice. Two thumbs up in my book. read more

Everyone literally works so slowly that it took 30 minutes to get through 5 people. The old man with the glasses is obnoxiously rude to elderly, international, and/or people who speak English as a second language - he yells at them, gets more frustrated and constantly cuts them off. Never had the guy act rude to me, but I first hand witnessed it in line - dude, if you hate people so much, quit the job that requires you to interact with a lot of people throughout the day. read more

Omg. Seriously a half hour wait. Why the heck would you only have 2 cashiers during a busy time in this large sized post office?? Ugh. Staff seemed nice enough, but how ridiculous that a post office of this size would have so few cashiers. Not cool. read more

AHHH!! That's a good representation on how I feel most of the time when I'm here waiting in line to mail a package or buy a book of stamps. The lines here are long and the service is SLOW! It drives me crazy. BUT sometimes... when I'm lucky (winning at roulette kind of lucky-awesome and by chance), I can be in and out of here in less than 10 minutes with NO WAIT! Unfortunately, I have not found a normal "non-busy" time because when I think it's slow, I think the rest of Seattle thinks it will be slow too and we all decide to go there... at the same time. But I do like the employees here. They are nice and ALWAYS friendly... even when they're busy. I never once heard them complain. read more

I went to this post office with my boyfriend to pick up a package (that should have been in my mailbox in the first place but the mail carrier couldn't seem to put it in or bring it to the leasing office like I asked them to when I scheduled the redelivery). They only had one person helping everyone, who was not wearing their mask correctly to make things worse. We waited for several minutes until a man came from the back asking who was there for pickup. I was so focused on watching the front of the line that I didn't quite register what the man had said. My boyfriend, who is hard of hearing, also didn't quite hear him. A man behind us then proceeded to say that we had no common sense. When we got to the counter, my boyfriend told the employee. He did not seem to care and he did not say anything to the man still in line. The employee then went to look for my package for a few minutes, came back once to ask me what the address was (even though he had the slip in his hand), and even went as far as to say my whole address out loud for everyone to hear. He did not seem to know what he was doing and eventually found my package thanks to information called out by another employee in the back. This post office looks dirty, the counters are wiggly (probably not safe), and they are not enforcing people to stand six feet apart. I hope I never have to set foot in another post office ever again for as long as I live. read more

Great and quick service (called 11am Pacific on a weekday). I called to ask to keep my package in store so I could pick it up as I wouldn't be home when it was delivered and the package required a signature. Arnold, the employee who was manning, the front should not be doing a customer service position. He is oh so very rude and not helpful. Also one employee for the whole place? Give me a break. The line moved very slowly but this seems to be the theme at many of the post offices these days. Not enough help at the front. No area for parking. I didn't know a post office could earn one star until I went here. All I wanted was a voter registration form; they didn't have any. In the interest of science, I sent my phone to "stop-watch" and started it as soon as I stepped in line at the Post Office for my past five visits and averaged them out. Your average wait to mail a package at this location during lunch hour rush? 12 minutes. Yes, you have to be patient. Yes there are oodles of exchange students mailing 30lb boxes overseas who don't know what the hell they're doing. Yes there is a professor mailing out 150 manila envelopes in response to inquiries about his academic journal. Yes there are your resident Ave crazies. But at the end of the day the employees are super nice (especially Michelle) and want to get you in and out of there as quickly as the hoops they have to jump through allow. Get there early, or use the automated machine by the door. read more

Morons and a$$hats staff this post office. I'm watching lazy government employees work as slow as the possibly can. The ESL students from the UW who don't understand how the post office works and appear to be trying to mail a live camel to Kyzgyrgistan or somewhere else make the wait that much more painful. I only set foot in this Post Office/Hell-Hole/4th Circle of Hell/Government facility that makes the NSA look nice and the DMV look speedy. when I have some package that can't be delivered. I have begged to have my stuff sent to Wedgwood where there's parking and, you know, no homeless people trying to urinate on you from the sidewalk above, but to no avail. So, every six months or so, I come down to a location with no parking, miserable employees who appear to be simply awaiting death or retirement (whichever comes first and they don't seem to care which it is), lovely neighborhood denizens and that odd smell of urine, vomit, cheap beer, sweat, unwashed bodies and sticky (how does something smell sticky? I don't know, but it does). The employees sigh loudly when they have to get up and do something. No one will make eye contact with you (because then they'd have to help you). Please, just close this miserable hole. read more

Attention incoming UW students: Avoid this post office! Do not get a PO Box here! I left town for three weeks this summer, and before leaving I went to the counter to inform them that my box would no doubt fill up but that I'd be back on such-and-such date. No problem, the guy said to me. He assured me my mail would be held. When I returned to Seattle after three weeks my PO Box was empty. Turns out they figured I had left town for good, so they cancelled my box and sent all the mail back to sender. Except for my magazines, which went in the trash. Then they informed me I'd have to pay a $20 fee to reopen a cancelled box. "But I never cancelled the box!" I said. I showed them the receipt from when I opened the box the year before, which showed the box was still paid up for another two months. Over the next two months sometimes I received my mail, sometimes I didn't. I know this because I started sending myself numbered postcards every week. By the end I was receiving about half of the postcards I sent. Do not ever use this post office. It's a joke. read more

Over the past 6 months alone, the mail carrier has not attempted to deliver at least 13 packages during business hours. Neither did the carrier put a notice on our business door to say a package was being held. Only because we keep track of what we've ordered did we find out it was at the post office. Their website said, falsely, that a notice was left. No redelivery is required on their part. Since I keep lodging new complaints, and no one higher up ever responds, apparently even leaving a notice isn't required. If you don't know no delivery attempt was made, and that you should just keep checking in case they didn't inform you, you're screwed. My file folder keeps getting thicker, but there's still not any actual concern about what they're doing to customers. We've been moving our substantial outgoing business to UPS and FedEx where we can. I suggest you do the same. ---- Update since 10/2 review: 4 packages not delivered since then, rude service when going physically into post office to try to find out where they were. On average, it takes more than 20 minutes line waiting, and 25 minutes once someone shuffles to the back to see if they can find it... and sometimes they can't. And I have time to update my review because I realized that although the post office is open today (Friday after Thanksgiving), and we're open today as well, we haven't gotten our business mail. I've tried calling a few times today, but no answer on their direct line of 206 675 8114. Nice work if you can get it... although I probably wouldn't last there, given that I have vastly different ideas about customer service.... read more

On numerous occasions I've had packages say they were delivered on the online tracking tool, then never show up. I had one last week that said it was delivered hours before the postman ever shows up at my building. Carrier theft much? I've had 5 packages go missing since last Dec. All of which were small enough to fit in my mailbox and had tracking info. Someone there is stealing packages, because I can't imagine anyone being that incompetent. read more
