I've been coming to this location for 30 years, and it's consistently been the slowest, most frustrating post office I've visited in this city. I only use it when I absolutely have to. If you live in PB, do yourself a favor and drive to the OB location- you'll save a lot of time. There are rarely enough staff or open registers. One clerk often chats at length with customers while the line backs up, and no one steps in to manage it. The overall attitude feels apathetic. It took me over 30 minutes just to mail two small packages on my last visit. read more

Pretty standard post office. This one is near one of my work locations, so I'm here occasionally to drop off a package that's ready after our normal pickup time. If you're just dropping off a pre-paid package you should park at the end of the lot near the alley. You can then go up the steps to the back door, and right inside is where the large drop-off bins are kept. That way you bypass the hassle of trying to get around the line that sometimes stretches out the front door. Biggest challenge is parking, especially at the holidays. Anytime after 4:00 gets bad, as people rush to get them dropped off before the cutoff at 5. You may have to park way down the block, or around the corner a street away. Good luck! read more

I have paid extra for restricted delivery on packages to the Pacific Beach area but they leave the packages at the address without getting the required signature! It happened again today. I got an alert saying that the package had been left with an individual and was signed for by the correct person, who was not even home at the time. The package was left on the step where anyone could have taken it! Why? I even had "restricted delivery" stamped on the box In several places! So frustrated with this particular post office!! Someone needs to investigate this branch for fraud and negligence. Letter carriers are trained to blow off getting signatures on Certified mail and just putting a notice in the mail box saying pick it up at Post Office in two days. I was expecting time-sensitive mail that ended up being Certified but no one ever came to the door that I was sitting five feet from all day. Please deliver my packages to my house and not somewhere else. My packages are often at one of the other houses with either a different street number or a different street altogether. Sometimes my neighbors bring them over and sometimes they don't. Right now someone has my laundry detergent that doesn't make me break out. They don't carry it at Ralph's so obtaining it is kinda a pain in the butt. : / read more

This place should be lowkey so embarrassed. Their workers are not kind or helpful. Don't offer what they say they do. All over their walls do they advertise their offerings but their stuff made it clear they do not offer those things, that they just have that there because some locations offer it. The lady at the front who "helped" me was honestly rude and dismissive. When you see something like "print prepaid labels" advertised, I assume that they print prepaid labels. LOL. She was acting like I was asking for the world and crazy to think that they do that. I don't understand the concept with the DMV and post office where the workers simply want customers to be miserable because they can. Can we normalize not being an a hole just because people feel like they can. I'm going to the postal place in clairemont where the staff is nice and helpful. read more

One employee in particular named Bahez embodies the definition of outstanding customer service. He has waited on me several times and is the most polite and helpful person I think I've ever run across. Bahez goes out of his way to help you and always with a huge smile. This is one of those wish I could give them zero stars situation. Worst post office I've ever been to. Worst customer service. I go out of my way to other post offices in San Diego to avoid this location. The workers including manager are extremely rude. Paid to have a package delivered and about a week later the package was returned for not having a tracking code sticker. I took the original receipt with the tracking code and box to this post office to have them re-deliver it and they argued with me that the box was in-transit. How is the box in transit when I have it right here in front of me?! The guy was so rude and condescending and told me I would have to pay the same fee again since this is a "new package". I complained to the manager they clearly screwed something up and I shouldn't have to pay double for their mistake. He was just as rude. I took my business elsewhere. Fast forward a few weeks later: we went on a weekend trip to our relative's house (the address where the package was supposed to go to) and she receives a box with two USPS tracking stickers. One of the tracking numbers was the one that was supposed to be placed on our box that got returned. So some idiot at this post office placed the sticker on someone else's box with our sticker and my relative received someone else's delivery, that person's delivery never made it to them and we had to pay an extra fee. Not sure how they confused the boxes as ours was a large box and the other person's box was small. These people that work there are either idiots or they are running a scam to make people double pay and bring their numbers up. read more

I came back here several times within the past year because I have been shipping items through eBay. All of the current workers have been so friendly and nice! One of them even offered me tape and to wrap my package so I didn't have to go back home. There rarely is a wait time as well. I have found myself coming here more than UPS these days. read more

I used to always dread going to the post office just knowing I'd be waiting in long lines. This Pb location has really turned that around for me. For a beach neighborhood, I rarely have any parking issues. There is an self service machine in the lobby that is pretty straight forward to use. Every time I've been, they've been well staffed where any lines move pretty quickly, and I'm always pleasantly surprised by how friendly and customer service oriented the employees are! read more

Was expecting a package to be delivered today, and I received a notification that failed to delivery notice was sent to me. When I got home I noticed was in my mailbox not attached to my door and I said final notice. Last time I checked there should've been at least one more courtesy of time before final notice. And the driver is full of crap because my cameras never notified me that there was no one in my driveway at the time he claims to have attempted to deliver in my driveway or at my front door! This is pure laziness and unprofessional acts of an federal employee! read more

So I decided since I have been back here numerous times since my last review I thought I should update. I have some positives as well as negatives to summarize my last few trips and I will detail them in list form to follow. Positives: -They gave the babes I nanny for coloring books today when we were in there. -The older man always lets me borrow a pen to fill out my customs form, and he speaks English. -You get a $2 discount off the large flat rate box if youre mailing it to an FPO. Negatives: -The line usually moves extremely slow. Especially today when there was probably 15 people in line with 2 clerks to take care of them: one being a foreign fella who isnt a jerk but also didnt understand what I was asking him (story on following bullet point) and the other being an overly nice fella who usually take a little while longer than things should. -They NEVER have the awesome military large flat rate boxes. And today when I asked the foreign fella if they had some somewhere else he informed me that they were in the display. When I told him there were indeed not any he informed me that they are the same boxes. No, they arent but...obviously were not going to get anywhere with this. -Parking lot is too small. -They wont share their damn tape. Overall, I would love to never have to go to the post office, like Id like to never go to the bank, but its a necessary evil, especially being affiliated with someone in the military so I guess it could be worse but it could be a HELL of a lot better. read more

Incompetence, Ignorance and Arrogance. I sent a package priority mail from this post office to Pennsylvania. 2 day delivery with insurance. With a tracking number. After a week I checked usps.com and the package was still in PB!. I called 800 225-8777, waited an hour on hold and opened a case (Pro Tip: If you call, be sure to open a case and get a case #. Read on for why). The case was supposed to be resolved within 72 hours. After 72 hours, I called 800 225-8777 to try and get an update on my case. An automated system asks me if this call is in regard to Tracking Number xxxx. I say yes, then it tells me to check USPS.com for updates, and that customer service is unavailable, then hangs up on me. Update 1: to get around being screened out and hung up on by an automated system, say No, this is not regarding Tracking Number xxxx. When asked what this call is regarding, say Case # and you will get to talk to a rep. When I got through, the rep told me that USPS hd simply closed the case saying "the package is in transit". I got the case re-opened and escalated by saying "the case isn't closed until the package is delivered". I now have the phone number for the Bureau of Consumer Affairs in both CA and PA. I'm supposed to call after 48-72 hours and if the package is still not delivered. I'll post an update. I went to the post office and talked to a supervisor. No help at all. No idea where the package is or when it will be delivered. She is not able to check on the status of the case, She couldn't care less. Meanwhile, I still have no idea when my package will be delivered. The package is supposed to go to PA, but in 11 days, it's managed to go from PB to LA to Sacramento. My advice: use FedEx. This place is hopeless. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. I have tried to like this post office, I really have! I usually make up excuses for why the service is so terrible: its rush hour, its the holiday season, etc. This time there was no excuse. I went in at 1030 on a Wednesday to mail a package. There were maybe three other people in line with me, but not a big deal. I get to the counter and the employee tells me I cannot use the flat rate box they sell in the store. Ok no problem, what box can I use? She rudely responds "I dont know, dont you have any boxes at home?" shoves my package back and moves on to the next customer. Are you kidding me?! I was nothing but polite and was willing to pay whatever the cost to mail my package, (it is going overseas) and THIS is the way I was treated?!? There are far too many people who are unemployed and eager to work in this country to stand for awful customer service. So typical for government work. read more

Updating what I see was a rather irate review I left 3 years ago... Since then, the scanning of​ packages has definitely gotten better. I started going up to the counter when I absolutely needed a package to be scanned in and the employees always seemed​ nice and helpful and then, of course,​ I got my package scanned in so that I could track it. I wish that the Self Service kiosk worked better (even the new one is glitchy and the touch screen doesn't work well) and that it was available during more hours of the day. However, as homeless folks seem to camp outside the doors quite often, I can see why the post office doesn't want to leave the doors open indefinitely. Overall, this place has definitely earned some stars back. It's less than a mile from home, parking is always easy and plentiful, and it serves my mailing needs decently! read more

They have the worst customer service in the world! One of the locks on our community mailbox doesn't work. Our management company says they don't have the authority to replace the lock. The USPS is impossible to get a hold of! They put me on hold for what they claimed would only be 45 minutes. It's already 56 minutes and counting. There's no way to file a request online. It's clear they don't care about customer service. I guess I'm going to have to wait until the post office sends the package back then ask them to resend it UPS or Fedex. read more

Box Lobby is supposed to open at 6:00 AM daily. Today at 7:00 AM it was still locked, long line waiting and so I went to the loading dock and asked them to open the doors. They did and said, "the lady who usually does this is on vacation and we forgot". This happens about two days a week and has been going on for years. read more

I love sending postal letters and cards and hope they never stop delivering but they keep raising prices and service gets worse. Lately they have been begging for more money to keep themselves afloat and using the elections and Covid as the excuse. No. Just compete like a real company. No excuses. And get rid of your worst employees. You know who they are. Subsidies just don't make it any more. Yes, I know the postal unions say that the post office isn't subsidized, but look into it and you find out they actually are. Just in a Round about way. read more

Do not send packages out through this post office unless you see an employee scan your package. Especially bad are 92109s mail carriers who pick up packages at your doorstep. They hardly ever scan and lately one out of 4 packages never reach their destination from this location because of the lack of initial scanning. read more

The management here is horrible. I have been waiting for a package that I supposedly signed that I received it. I went crazy going around to each and every door in my building if it was mistakenly sent and someone had signed for it. No luck. This package was for work which was very important. So I didn't want to risk hoping the package was gonna show up, so I did another order with express shipping. Of course $400 spent. Either way it was important I had my tools to work. Anyhow, I got a call from the post office saying my Package was there! Thank goodness. I wasn't upset about the packaging being late. I was happy that It was found and I didn't lose $350 worth of tools. Things happen and I get it. What upset me was when I went there to get it the manager was rude and asked me why would it be here if someone signed it. That really pissed me off. That immediately changed my mood. I told him I'm not sure, that he needs to ask the staff or the person that has my route. Time is money and I could of lost out on $2k because of my package not being delivered correctly.
