Postal agents are friendly and try to get you in an out as fast as possible. Zoci was by herself today at 11:00am on Thursday with a line out the door. She greet everyone and handled the line like a boss. I had one large priority parcel to ship. I was 5th in line and waited less than 10 minutes. I think prices might have increased it was $30+ to ship this priority service parcel. I don't ship often but when I need to I like to come to this location. read more

UPDATE: called usps and was told they are wrong. Went back and was told to go to a different post office by the supervisor. I had to show them online they are wrong and finally a second supervisor allowed me to mail my letter. Overheard Tess saying she's "scared" of me because I told her to have a shitty holiday what a joke. This location is most convenient and I've never had issues with employee attitude, but it can take awhile. The parking lot is fairly small and I think at most I've seen 2 people working the front, even when super busy. With it being the holiday season, I got there right before it opened and was fifth in line -- not the only one with the right idea to show up at 7:50! They opened right on time but surprisingly only had one person working the front even tho the line grew to ten by 8 am. Irony of ironies for me: I stood in line for about 20 minutes total so I could buy postcard stamps. They didn't have any in stock and I was kindly directed to the self serve kiosk, which I could have used when arriving lol. Took it in stride and was able to get what I want. Next time I'm at the post office I will have to see all the things that can be done with that kiosk. read more

I love this post office. Even when the line is going out of the door, it always takes less than five minutes to be helped. Today I just needed an envelope with a stamp, and it only cost $.95. The staff members are always super friendly. They also have a self service station to where you can ship things out without having to wait in line. Lastly, parking is very easy to come by. read more

For the two years I've come here, the team has been exceptional; I live a few blocks away, so it is very convenient to have this USPS here. The team here goes above and beyond; Carlos is one of the kindest employees, and his professionalism and kindness make you feel like you shouldn't go to any other USPS but this one. I was surprised to not see a line on a Saturday morning. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted with a friendly smile. I purchased an envelope with bubble wrap. My package was weighed and I was given a couple of options for when I wanted my package to arrive and if I wanted it insured. I paid a reasonable rate for the envelope and delivery. Have been here a couple of times. This is a much older, unremodeled Post Office located in Hillcrest off of University near Highway 163. The parking lot is a bit small for the amount fo traffic this location gets, and while there is street parking, this location is located in a residential and busy market area... and parking is first come first served and you could be waiting awhile. The line was pretty long but luckily I was just dropping off. Definitely need another location or remodel or make a better parking structure, when you leave you cannot turn left only right and it is located at a 4 way stop. Dolly was incredible, helping us efficiently address each of our many boxes. She was unbelievably professional and helped me work through any of the challenges that arose when shipping a significant number of packages. Wow - I just have to share about the outstanding service I received today! I missed a signature-required delivery at my home by only a few minutes. The door tag was fully filled out, super-clear and legible. I called the Post Office phone line and was able to reach a customer service rep very quickly and explained my situation and desire to somehow get my package today. I was placed on hold briefly and was then provided info where I could meet the carrier before he got too far away. The service I received by phone and by the carrier was truly superb. Both of these people turned my situation from stress to peace! So happy it worked out and very grateful we have a friendly, caring staff at our local 92103 USPS! I truly felt like a VIP. read more

It's the post office so expect long waits and confused people asking lots of questions. However, I really like this location! It's convenient and although the parking lot is tiny, I have never had trouble finding a spot. I also rate it so high because the customer service is always wonderful here. The last time I visited, the self service machine is down and the line was 10+ people long PLUS they had two people call out that day so they were short staffed and yet they were patient and friendly and apologized for the wait. I've been to some gnarly post offices before with very mean people working there, but I would not say this location is one of those! One star removed though because the self service machine isn't great and breaks down. Hence why there can be a huge line at this location sometimes. read more

I have a PO Box here and visit weekly. Yes the post office is not the most exciting place to go and there are often long lines with only one or two clerks working but the lines move fast enough and every one there is always wonderful. One employee in particular-I think her name is Chablay is the most patient and kind person. I once asked her "how are you always so kind and patient?". She smiled and thanked me for noticing. I've had a lot of bad customer experiences in my life but this one takes the cake. My small business has been shipping through USPS for over a year and I have experienced continuous issues from them not picking up packages to breaking or losing packages and I've put up with all of it until yesterday. Yesterday I received all of my orders returned to me from the manager of this USPS who said he had weighed them personally. I weighed each package and while 1 was off, the other 6 were clearly not. I figured their scale was off and decided to visit in person bringing my own scale. The first woman I met was friendly but couldn't help even after showing her the weights were not correct using the scale I brought. She brought the manager, an old gruff African American guy to speak to me. I shared with him that some of the packages were 7.05 ounces as shown on my scale but were returned saying they should be 8 oz. He said "always round up". Seriously? .05 ounces? Another package was 2.93 oz but was still returned saying it should be 4 oz. What? Without even looking at my scale or treating me with any respect, he said "yea you've been caught"I've been caught? For using a dog shit service sure but I save zero dollars being 1 oz off a package weight if it was even off in the first place I've been promised refund before for several other mishaps on the part of USPS but never received it. I asked in his mind why I shouldn't use UPS instead given how horribly they have treated me and he responded by telling me, "you should go to UPS." So there it is folks - even the manager here thinks this place sucks. Hope a higher up sees this because this is unacceptable. Just because a guy has worked in an industry for years doesn't mean he can treat customers that way. FYI - another store customer came up to me after the fact and said that he too has seen their scales being off and has complained but nothing came of it. I don't understand why this place gets such a bad reputation. I have been going to this location for many years and I have only ever had good luck with the people who work here. Today I had to write a review because I was so excited to mail a card to my friend for her birthday that I happily chucked it in the middle drive through mailbox outside. Then when I got home, I realized that I still had the stamps in my pocket. I thought I was screwed! But I went back and asked one of the workers about it. He went to find the key, went outside and got my envelope for me! I can't even express how happy I was that he did this for me! I got some new beautiful butterfly stamps and mailed it properly. This is a bizarre review to write. Why? Because I'm writing about a service, not the actual brick and mortar location. The service is a wonderful new feature called USPS Informed Delivery - it's awesome. The long and short of it is that they basically scan your mail and email you an image of it. This way you see in advance what may or may not be showing up in your mailbox each and everyday. While I'm sure this will get annoying at some point in time, right now I'm loving it and I'm stoked to see the USPS making moves to stay current and competitive. read more

This post office had great window clerks. They have awesome customer service. I really need the HQ at SD Margaret Sellers P&DC to build 92139 Paradise Hills Post Office a real front counter. These awesome employees are operating on a makeshift counter of stacked empty mail bin receptacles as counters and it's not fair to the customers who patronize this location, nor the great workers here. The mail delivery service is not the greatest. Our family members are constantly experiencing issues. Once their normal carrier went out on a medical leave, things got bad for their mail delivery service. We have many family members who complain that their mail is always for another person(s), even though that have complained multiple times over the past year. They even marked up their mailbox with the names that receive mail at the home (just what the postal carrier supervisor advised them to do) but they still are getting 1st Class & 2nd Class mail in other people's names. Lots of Stimulus checks, military paychecks, etc...and the list goes on... It's not their fault that the previous home occupants didn't forward their mail. A lot to be fixed on the mail carrier side. The window service at the post office here is excellent and they certainly deserve a real retail counter but to work from. read more

Came to the US Post Office to drop off a couple of packages and realized that customer service has a big impact everywhere. For some reason it never dawned on me that the employees here have an effect on our visit and wether or not we choose to come to a particular Post Office. Gina was so nice and friendly, she helped me get my packages shipped out and was very helpful. I must say there was another gentleman working with her (I didn't get his name) who was a bit grumpy. I was hoping I didn't get him while I waited in line I observed his unpleasant tone when responding to questions from other people, I had some questions about my packages also and I do not do well with unpleasant people who are working in customer service. I sell a lot of things online and visit a lot of post office locations around San Diego county. This is the friendliest and most smoothly run location I have been to. Today (December 18th) I came to do a quick sales drop off and was faced with the holiday shipping deadline madness. It was packed, but the lines were organized and moving, and there was plenty of staff available and proactively helping people. Lines moved fast which was a relief because they were LONG today. Would rate 0 if had the option. Never have I seen such incompetence. All of a sudden after 4.5 years at the same address, suddenly all my mail stopped arriving. After research it turns out that the postal worker returned all of mail to be returned to senders. Completely confused so I called and emailed which was ridiculous seeing as nobody helps. I was told "someone with access to your box removed it all and put it in the outgoing return mail spot". First of all, NOBODY but me has access to my mailbox and second, we don't even have a return slot. So they full blown lied. Then came to find out he decided to look inside the mailbox (you literally have to duck and look up and I've never seen it once even myself in 4.5 years) and saw the last name of someone who lived here YEARS ago. So he then decided all other mail should be returned. First of all, common sense would tell the person - like you don't find it odd that for days on end you keep returning mail that all happens to have my name and yet not a single piece of mail has the other person's? That doesn't even take training, it's called common sense. So on top of all this numerous people had to resend mail. My parents had to pay to cancel a check thinking it was missing. And the best is when they finally started delivering my mail again I got my neighbor's mail. One that looked like a medical bill and important. So you want to be so cautious you bother with an old last name but then you leave me my neighbors. Also - my voter ballot that was in my informed delivery email never arrived. Every other piece of mail did during that time except my ballot. I had to go through the process of having the state reprint my ballot. I emailed USPS AND reported it missing many times and never even once got an acknowledgment let alone any sort of response. Then a few weeks ago he left a prescription in a neighbor's mailbox instead of mine and that person was out of town. So then I had to spend all this time getting CVS AND my doctor to send an emergency refill. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE AND THEY WILL NEVER BOTHER TO HELP. Complete lack of competence and common sense. I hate that I have no option to switch but I'm stuck with this awful Hillcrest one. Terrible service. The fact that I had to go through all this for my voter ballot, my prescription, my missing presents is just maddening. Then to lie saying it was removed and placed in the return slot which doesn't even exist. I had to take so much of my personal time because of a lack of common sense and a horribly run location. They literally owe me money from losses but they don't care about their customers obviously. read more

Today after asking the gentleman nicely if I could just hand him my packages he was very rude telling me my watch was incorrect, literally standing there as my watch says 5:56pm watching this man chain the doors right in front of me. All I needed to do was use the drop box inside the main lobby. I have never had a good experience here and I do not recommend. I had a good experience at this postal office today. The workers at the cashier did not seem to make things slower for customers as I feel like it is most times at other postal offices. There is a small lot in the front of the postal office with about 12 parking spaces. Parking around the north park - hilcrest area has typically street parking as the option only so this was a nice surprise. There is also one machine in the entrance where you can make postal shipping labels for any variety of parcel or box so it's like an extra line that no one thinks to use. This machine also sells stamps. I like this location because it's close to a huge shopping center close by with Trader Joe's and Ike's sandwiches. read more

Been coming here since I moved to Hillcrest in 1996. It has its hits and misses but overall 99% of the time, it works fine for me. I have a had at the most a 10 min waiting in line. There are the customers who are not prepared and come in huffing and puffing. THose customers just adds to the entertainment while waiting in line. Overall fave dude is Jerome. He looks pissed but actually isnt- its business with him but somewhere in the transaction, he slips in a joke or a smart comment. read more

When picking up a package, the key pad (before signing) asked me if the address was correct, I told the rep it was not and she told me it would not affect my pick up. I inquired as to why the incorrect address was listed and none of the employees knew what to do or how to correct the address. I was forced to accept it as a correct address on the keypad. No corrective action or correction was done by any senior employee. They seemed eager to just move the line along ignoring the clerical error with the system. The lady rep was nice, but nice doesn't help if you don't know how the systems in your job works and where to seek the answers. Post offices get a bad wrap. Although the waiting line was about 12 deep upon arrival before 8:30 a.m. on a Friday, the post office was open early that day. One staff member was quickly waiting on one customer after another. As she moved, the line continued to grow. Customers were spaced apart and patient. I was happy they were open as I had a plane to catch. When my turn came, I completed my quick transaction and was out the door with plenty of time to return the rental and get to the gate. read more

I will NEVER use this drop off location again! I went there to use the driveway drop off just in time for the last Saturday pickup, and there always a car ahead of me, who got out and dropped into the plastic bin, sitting on the ground next to the blue mail drop. As he left and I pulled forward to do the same, the postal worker, an older black gentleman who wore glasses and a frown, emerged from the building just as I was opening my van door to climb down. Ignoring me, he paced past me, grabbed the bin and walked wide enough to avoid passing me. I said are you taking the mail. He told me to put it in the box. I said, "please sir, this is the last pickup. Can I please give you mine too?" He told me, "I don't want it. ". And slammed the door in my face, laughing. I doubt the post office is anyone's favorite place to visit, but this one is a special kind of awful in the sense that there is no mediocre service here, only bad or good. There are no medium sized lines, only short or longer than the lines at Disneyland. Many times you are met with a scowl by one of the workers who has been there forever, or met with a smile by a hopeful new recruit. Time varies on how fast they'll get whatever you need done, and not based on experience, but more by the mood they're in. The carriers from this station are typically a complete mess unless they've been on the same route for years, which I feel is a dying custom. On my route I see a new face atleast once every couple of weeks, usually more often, and I don't know if they don't train these people or what because the majority seem like they have no clue whatsoever, so much so, I get mail for houses blocks away, have had my mail just tossed on my doorstep in a pile, had carriers mark packages as undeliverable to keep good time on their route, and just last week a carrier couldn't be bothered to look for my neighbors mailbox so threw their mail on the sidewalk in front of the pathway to their house. Today was just another great example of ineptitude as a scruffy faced, handsome, but obviously NEW, carrier delivered the mail. I got mail for a few of my neighbors, and only one piece of my own leaving me to wonder if someone else got the majority of my mail. On top of this I watched him zig zag all over the place for 10 minutes returning to houses (including mine), to drop of mail he didn't deliver on his first visit, (the mail he dropped in my box on his second visit was not for my address either). The only reason I'm giving 3 stars and not one, is that I've complained so many times about so many things these carriers have done, that the post master and assistant post master gave me their contact information so I can contact them directly...though these days I just kind of feel like what's the point. Things improve for a month, maybe two...then things go right back to the hurried scurried carriers who have no clue what they're doing. read more
