Bustling brick post office on Floyd Ave. & Thompson in Carytown, near the Museum District is usually always crowded! The lines may be long and thus this location gives a new meaning to the term snail mail. It's a pretty large facility, taking up most of the block, with numerous post offices boxes serving the folks in the Fan. The parking lot, while fairly sizable, needs repaving so watch those potholes. Many wonder why this post office is dubbed "Stewart Station" which is a mystery I'm willing to unravel. Stay tuned! The customer service is pretty common, good days and bad days. There are letter drop boxes out front and there are handicap railings for accessibility to the building. Hours M-F 9-5, Sat 9-12. Horrible service! Lady with glasses that attended me didn't let me use a small little piece of her tape to tape my envelope?? And wanted me to buy a whole role of tape ridiculous. Made me step to the side and fill out a whole envelope (that I brought just in case) . Something that takes less than 10 seconds. And told me when I was finished to just come up and that I didn't have to wait in line. That's exactly what I did and then ignored me when I came up . Twice. Seriously ruined my day. Avoid the older lady in the glasses idk who else works there bc it was only her there but worse experience. First and last time going. read more

Q Harris is absolutely one of the rudest persons I've ever met. I went in to mail one package and was the only person in line. Took me 10 minutes to be served because she was gossiping with someone else that kept looking over apologetic at me. FINALLY Q Harris looked over at me, rolled her eyes and said "what do you need?" The whole time she was weighing my package and ringing me up, she was gossiping about another coworker to the other girl. So rude. So unprofessional. I went into this post office today to mail my Christmas cards and was delighted to see that I was the only customer in the place. The Attendant Ms. T-Banks came out from the back, looked at my cards and said "I will not be checking those individually!" I said "why not? they are all different sized, weights, and are going all over the United States." She said "Because I am the only one here!!!" Just then a second attendant came out from the back and said to the first attendant, "I better not be getting your nasty attitude today." Then walked in a couple of customer's which the second attendant cheerfully waited on. I know how hard it is to find good help, but the nastiness in which I was treated was completely uncalled for. Needless to say, my mood was no longer happy that I had gone into this branch. No wonder the Post office is going out of business. read more

Stewart Station is my absolute favorite post office. It used to be my neighborhood P.O. and even though I moved over a year ago, I still make my way here to mail anything of importance. It's often busy, which is a downside, but I'd much rather wait in line at this station than at any other Richmond location I've visited. The last few times I've been in the staff has been incredibly friendly. I realized a long time ago that the key to a positive interaction at a post office is to kill 'em with kindness and it hasn't failed me yet. I stopped in earlier this week to mail a few things and I almost made the mistake of purchasing multiple books of stamps for some irregular-sized envelopes. The woman helping me suggested I bring in a sample for them to confirm postage price before I committed to a ton of stamps that might not be correct. While this may seem like a no-brainer, I really appreciated the entire interaction - especially her positive attitude. Parking's ample, with 15 minute spots directly in front to allow for quick mailbox drops, and a parking lot adjacent to the building. This makes running in and out a breeze (when there's no line, of course)! They also usually carry quite a variety of stamp designs, so if you have your heart set on something specific, this is a good location to try. read more

Just like every other post office I've ever been too. They mail your stuff out and staff is one level nicer than a DMV.

Why is this post office called Stewart? I have no idea. It has a parking lot and it's right off of the Carytown exits from most every interstate we have. It's damn convenient if you've got to mail a package on your way just about anywhere except downtown or something. They have drive up drop off mailboxes that fit letters or small packages. It's open on Saturday and it always has a full supply of the limited mailing supplies they sell. I still hate going here. The clerks are always terse, angry and their general attitudes range from indifferent to spectacularly rude. The patrons of this post office are always super nice. I think to make up for how rude the clerks are. I feel like if I dropped dead while in line they'd shrug and ask someone to kick me out of the way so that they could get on with the line. The line usually ranges between five and eight people, making it a fairly busy post office. Don't even think about going here at peak hours during big mailing seasons like tax time and Christmas. You'll be here forever. read more

This is my neighborhood Post Office and I am so thankful they are here. They offer PO boxes, mailing/shipping supplies, and everything "post office" you could need. The staff is super friendly and helpful. Do keep in mind this location is understaffed and often busy, so give yourself some extra time if you are going during peak hours. They open at 8 am for before work trips and on Saturday if you can't make it during the week. They also have two large drop boxes outside if you just need to drop off items already stamped, etc. Cheers. read more

GIVING THIS 1 STAR IS A COMPLIMENT! We reserved a PO Box at this location in June. This was suppose to be our permanent mailing address to use for Medical School applications. Since then we have received calls from 3 schools following up on the letters they sent us that we never received. And that's only 3 that we know of. That sounds to me like mail tampering.. Isn't that a Federal offense? No only are the incompetent at putting mail in the right boxes but the service at this post office is horrible. The people working the front counter and rude and appear constantly angry. Missing (stolen) mail and rude employees. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else! read more

Super convenient to my house but always a painful experience. Reason being that a reasonably simple transaction -I'd like to buy a book of stamps- takes for-EVER due to the attention deficit given to the customer by the sales associate. Which brings me to question- Why are postal workers called sales associates now? Anyway - I can't complain about the friendliness of the staff but would love to see the line move faster and the sales associate not multitask as much and rather focus on the transaction quickly and accurately. read more

I am furious. I paid $27 for guaranteed overnight delivery to a residential building. The tracking says they "attempted delivery" but had no access so my important letter will not arrive as promised. NO ACCESS? Are you kidding me? this is a residential building where the USPS delivers mail to on a DAILY basis. Yes, there is a door code, but they HAVE IT! This is infuriating, since I paid literally 50 times the normal rate of postage to have it guaranteed to be there by noon today. read more

Not sure why this post office is so poorly reviewed.... anytime I come here to ship items or buy stamps - the place is clean and the workers are efficient! I'm in and out in less than five minutes. I've never had a bad experience at this post office. It's not my neighborhood's, but the people at the Broad St office are so mean, I've started going here to mail anything. SO MUCH NICER! I don't feel like I'm getting attitude just for walking through the door. I don't really do anything fancy here - no PO Box or anything, but just for regular parcel returns or mailing out letters, I've gotten great customer service. read more

I'm torn with this post office and their service. Two of the people that work there are always smiling and friendly. The rest of them don't care and will barely make eye contact with you. Packages sometimes don't get delivered and you have to go pick them up at this post office even after signing the slip for the letter carrier to deliver the package. On several occasions, I've just received a notice that would say final attempt even though we never received any attempts. read more

I like how convenient this location is to my home, but there are some issues. The line always moves super slowly. There is no automated machine. More importantly, there is not even a package drop off space if you already have your label prepared. This means you have to go during the limited hours that they're open. I did this today and dropped off packages with an employee at 11:30 am. Through my tracking number, I see that they weren't scanned as being "received" until 9:00 pm, which is ridiculous and makes me look very happy unprofessional when selling things online. read more

horrible experience. they rejected a package from ups sent to another address, then told me "we don't receive packages here from ups. hello an employee from usps doesn't know that usps receive packages from ups and deliver it to po boxes. very very inefficient. they (sometimes) don't put notifications of packages on po boxes. i never ever have a problem like this in another state. i don't recommend this post office to anybody. read more

I had a bad experience with this post office. I needed an important document sent to my daughter so that she could sign it & mail it back to me. The letter was mailed in a way where it could be tracked. It was supposed to have gotten there in 2 days. My computer said that the information had not been updated. I called the post office & spoke with someone. I was told in one breath that the letter was mailed, yet in another breath I was told that I didn't put my daughter's apartment number on the envelope & maybe that's why she haven't received it. Now which one is it? If the correct info wasn't on the envelope, whatever happened to "Return to Sender"? I DID have a return address on the envelope. And because my daughter didn't receive the important document that needed to be signed (it was Time Sensitive ), I had to drive down to Richmond in that Thanksgiving traveling traffic (2hrs which normally takes less time than that), then drive back after the document was signed. All of this could have been avoided if someone was doing their job-which I'm sure the letter was still not delivered & was either lost or misplaced!
