I went to the post office Saturday May 30th 2026 to pick up my mail it was a Saturday about 4:30 p.m. and there was no customers in the lobby where the PO boxes are and the post office actually was closed otherwise I encountered a person a transgender woman who had strally red hair and dressed like a prostitute loitering in the in the room I said something to her and she became enraged and presented to me a ice pick but she had concealed she was very argumentative and acted crazy and cornered me in the room and was yelling and screaming obscenities and finally she backed off and told me to go to hell so I got my stuff my my mail and left I did tell somebody outside what happened I didn't see anybody go in there I called the police nobody went to do anything really actually took 2 hours to finally talk to the police officer and they didn't follow up they didn't do anything either and this is the letter I got from the post office when I complained about it. I asked if they had cameras and they told me they did not that's a government building and they don't have camera so be aware when you go into Creston station on Foster road in Portland Oregon on off times when there's no employees visible they don't have camera so anybody could rob you in that place and nobody will know. Most post offices get 2-3 stars. This post office gets 4.5 stars on average, and there is a very good reason for that. When I walked in Warren directed me to his booth and helped me get my package ready. I made some comments on how this post office has the best reviews of any USPS I have seen, and the reason seemed pretty clear: Warren's presence, humor and professionalism. It is usually common for a USPS employee to be friendly with locals and people in the neighborhood, but the fact that he was so nice to me (now an outsider) and made an effort to ensure all details were correct really made a strong, unforgettable impression. Hard to rate a PO other than saying that I'm grateful for their service and their presence. Even in these holiday times when the lines can be out the door with people trying to mail packages, the employees are polite and efficient. I wouldn't normally review a post office because...post office. Boring. But I actually go out of my way and brave the terrible parking lot here (and it really is terrible, small, awkward, can only turn right onto Foster leaving...the perfect breeding ground for a fender bender) because the folks who work here are exceptionally pleasant and defy the "Postal" stereotype of unenthusiastic civil servants intent on just getting through the minutes until retirement. I am not one to leave negativity of any sort on an online platform. However, after two years of frustration, I'll say this: this USPS location is an agitating specimen for a myriad of reasons for which I cannot blame its staff (parking, wait times, a consistently full/precarious prepaid shelf, little to no assistance at the loading dock, blatant refusal to respond to the pickup window during posted times). My grievance lives largely with one supervisor/employee who consistently talks over customers, cuts corners when dealing with small business owners dropping off more than your typical package amount, often invokes anxiety and incorrect instruction, hinted at homophobic ignorance when a PO Box was being set up, and who quite recently raised their voice at my disabled partner for conveying information (via USPS international headquarters' advice) about an unsent international package that lingered unscanned at this location for a month+. (I also lost $100+ on a package I hand-delivered to this location; inside was $80+ of dry goods I was sending cross country to a relative. The package was never scanned, updated, or found.) Is this a clash of personalities? I'm unsure. Normal postal mix-up(s)? Likely. I've spent 12+ years in retail and have never been so repeatedly disappointed by one employee. We will be taking ourselves and our business to the Sellwood location. It is what it is, largely, but I had to say something. Honestly, top notch post office. Really! Everyone that works there is really nice and I love coming into this post office! It's not the biggest so they might not have exactly the type of packaging you are looking for, but they will definitely have something that will work! Sometimes in the morning there is a line, they open at 8:30 but the front part with the PO boxes opens earlier so you can wait in there. Sometimes the people waiting in line are mean! I tried calling several Post Offices near me, but after waiting for two minutes for someone to answer the phone at those offices, I looked to Yelp for help. I called this Post Office because it had the best ratings and guess what? The phone was on the second ring by Annette! She was also helpful and personable. You would think it odd to be happy about the post office actually answering their own phone and it doesn't exactly restore any faith in the USPS systemwide, but it lets you know that some individual post offices take their job seriously. read more

This is the best post office in Portland and the reason it's the best is because of Warren! He is funny, helpful, quick, and kind. Most jobs like these ( post office, DMV etc) the employees aren't very happy and I understand why! But, it's nice when there are employees who don't let it get to them too much and still allow for fun and laughter at their jobs. It's refreshing. I recently shipped a laptop I "sold" on eBay through this post office. A couple hours later, after closer inspection I realized the "buyer" was a scam artist that sent fraudulent emails that looked as though they were coming from eBay, telling me he had paid when in fact he hadn't. I rushed back to the post office in a panic only to find it had a huge line. Luckily a friendly manager (?) came out and asked if there was anyone in line with drop offs that he could help directly. I told him my predicament and he rushed to the back to see if the item had been shipped. Thankfully it hadn't and they quickly and efficiently issued me a full refund. Such a huge relief thanks to their great customer service. I have used this location in the past and the people working the desk are always upbeat and jovial. read more
