Part of me is still angry .It should NOT have been shut in the 1st place. 4 stars for this location only because the older Caucasian man is grumpy and rude. Acted like he knew everything saying they didn't accept my packages because they say "fedex". This was my first time ever seeing this employee. I ship out packages from here with fedex packaging never with any issues from the younger Asian gentleman who has helped me all the other times. Older Caucasian guy didn't bother to say "hello" when he first saw me, he also assumed I didn't want a receipt I had to ask him to print me one and he seemed unhappy about it. As I grabbed the receipt from him i looked at his name tag and thanked him saying his name. He seemed caught off guard I can't remember his name...I'm not a Karen I swear I just expect decent customer service and like to share my negative experiences...He also asked "what are you doing?" As I was taking photos of my packages to send to my customers.... I'd give this location 5 stars (I live nearby) if I was basing my review on location, cleanliness, and customer service from the younger Chinese guy. US Post Office - Post Offices Near Me - Portland, Oregon

This post is ridiculous, I came there on 7/13 to send international package. Waited 20 minutes in line because there was only 1 person slowly working and other guy was talking with some delivery man standing at the counter instead of doing his work. Finally my turn to send package and person was filling the information for 30 MINUTES!!! AND GUESS WHAT? SHE DID A MISTAKE THAT I DISCOVERED LATER. She put wrong house number on custom declaration sticker. She was working sooo slowly that how could she made a mistake? My package stuck on post in Europe and it was over 5 weeks at the post. I was worried and I came to this location to ask them what happened. The guy (who previous time was talking to delivery man) told me he cannot help and just turn and walked away, when I am still at counter since I didn't pay tracking. Well, I found custom declaration paper and I looked there and I saw barcode with numbers, so I put this number and guess what? IT WAS TRACKING NUMBER. So why you have to pay extra $20 just to get it printed at the receipt? I track this number and figured out that package reached the country but stuck on post since it had 2 addresses 1.My correct address and 2. Her wrong label address. Person overseas called local post and gave the tracking number that I discovered on the custom declaration and they manage to find package. They said label had different address than box and there were confused. Will never send anything from this location anymore!!!! read more

I've never heard of a post office closing for lunch- I arrived before 2 pm and the sign was already up to be returning at 3 pm for lunch. Somehow when I return I don't expect it to be opening right at 3 either. Perhaps the staffing is limited but truly how can a post office close during business hours? read more

This post office just happened to be near my parking spot. I feel I've sniffed out every P.O. in most neighborhoods. This one is inside the Multnomah County building, I am pretty sure. So, unassuming, tucked in a little corner facing 'big pink' building on SW 5th. I walked in and - there was just one customer in line. Bonus! But his transaction took awhile. The clerk appeared like he was a few days from retiring. I just stared ahead waiting while the current patron and his friend held a dialog. There was no other clerk manning the counter. I was the only one in line for awhile, then more appeared behind me. It's a small post office, with P.O. Boxes lining the walls a few greeting cards, envelopes, items for sale. Once I got the counter the clerk was diligent. I just had one casual mailing. He was nice and asked if I needed express shipping, stamps, etc. Said package would arrive Monday - and I got a text from the recipient, it arrived a day early, Sat! It wasn't the most memorable experience but the clerk seemed like a old timer and he was all by himself so I just appreciate the direct, no-nonsense service. read more

New USPS location in downtown waterfront Portland. Hours M-F 8-6, Sat 10-3 (closed Sun and holidays). Staff aren't overly friendly, but I wasn't surprised. I was just glad to get my package off. read more

I never thought I'd review a post office, but I needed to recognize one of the employees at this location for awesome service. Neyla was fantastic and helped me to send a book across the country for as cheaply and as quickly as possible. I came in with an idea of how I should ship and she found a much better option. She also sold me some Johnny Cash stamps! Her customer service skills were impeccable. Sure, if you go to the downtown post office during the lunch hour it's going to be crazy busy. But if you go during off hours the line is usually short and the employees are relaxed and cheerful. read more

Always efficient and kind, the crew here gets you out of the door as quickly as possible with a smile on their faces. An eclectic bunch with unique personalities but all very helpful, and the line moves fast if it is there at all. Like most USPS outlets, they are well-stocked with everything you may need to send packages, and they offer the typical services. They're attentive too: I've tried to send things with incorrect postage before and they caught it, allowing me to correct my error instead of getting the letter bounced back. read more

When I think about keeping Portland weird, I dont think of unicycles and bagpipes, I think about this weird little post office on SW 5th. I love going to this little place. I am just around the corner and send a lot of marketing packets, so I spend a faIr amount of time here. John is always playing good music which makes standing in line a lot more bearable. This post office is usually always busy. Hardly ever enough people working. And when it is empty, they all seem to like making passive aggressive comments if you ask questions they don't know how to answer. Most of the employees are rude (the people in the pre-paid shipping center are nice though). Won't be going back to this location anymore. If you value your time, do not go to this one. read more

My favorite post office. Although it does not carry the stamps with cats on them, it does carry the Sacco and Vanzetti series.

I have a friend who works in marketing for the USPS and part of his job is to find new ways to make the USPS more efficient and work better. If he were to visit this particular post office, I believe he would be impressed by the efforts of Irene, one of the clerks, who is one of the calmest people I have ever observed. Without hardly lifting a finger, she keeps the line under control, answers questions, and checks people in and out in an assured but very friendly manner. The actual waiting area is very well organized and clean. She obviously has worked there for awhile and has been well trained. I had several items to mail with forms to fill out and I found the forms quickly and didn't have to bother her to ask where they were. Once I was in line and ready to finalize my transaction, everything was done correctly and I was out the door before I knew it. Whatever she has, I hope other post office personnel want it because this was one of the best experiences I've had in recent memory with post office personnel. This post office branch is a little farther than some others, but I value the efficiency with which Irene and this branch operate. Great job! read more

Came in at 1:30 to mail a package and there was a line of 14 people all the way to the door. The poor woman behind the counter was the only person working. I saw two other workers behind the counter who looked at the line and then headed to lunch. The woman was super nice and awesome to all the customers even though she was clearly drowning. It seems odd that her coworkers would leave her by herself and not help move the line. She was great. But as a company what a lame way to treat employees, coworkers and people who still use the post office. read more

I live within the same distance from all 3 downtown locations. This one, Hoyt, and the University. Hoyt is a hit or miss, some clerks are ok, some are wonderful, while some not so much, University is the worst, avoiding it now, but whenever I used to come by lines were the longest and slowest moving and certain clerks were incompetent and had bad attitudes, but Central is amazing. The nicest and most helpful people are working there (I've seen them during busy holiday season and they were just as nice, patient and professional then as when it's quiet) , and even if there is a line, somehow it manages to move much faster than in all the other locations I've been at. Glad it exists and I have a choice. Really appreciate great people who work there and make my visits stress-free. read more
