This is the worst USPS location in Portland. I consistently miss my deliveries, and the mail carrier never leaves a note indicating that they attempted to deliver my packages. Instead, I receive notifications via email about the failed deliveries, but there's no notice on my door or mailbox. I then reschedule my delivery online and sign my signature electronically so that no physical signature is required. I schedule my delivery two days later, but I then receive another notification stating that my package is available for pickup at this location, which is incredibly frustrating. When I go to pick up my package, the worker at this location is sassy and passive-aggressive. He told me that my package wouldn't be there unless I had a physical notice (a paper) stating it was available for pickup. I explained to him that I didn't receive any notice and that I had been notified via email. He insisted that those emails are never accurate, which was frustrating to hear. He then claimed that my package wouldn't be there, but after checking, he did find it. I am so tired of this USPS location and its staff. read more

they actually delivered my medicine that comes by mail to a delivery room and a pile of Amazon packages one of which is a controlled substance the other if I don't take, I'd have a seizure. The package would've easily fit in my mailbox and I don't know why they brought it to the office. read more

Frustrated beyond belief. Once you miss your package delivery you're out of luck you'll spend the next two weeks wondering why they won't redeliver and trying to find time to go to this location within business hours. Thanks for the note usps but not even bothering to attempt redelivery. Came here on Sunday as the slip says they are open Sunday's until 11. This is not the case. Update the package slip! read more

This probably is not the post office you're looking for. The nearest retail storefront is at 1706 NW 24th. This place is more of a distribution center that dispatches trucks and routes mail. However, sometimes USPS tracking info will say a package is ready here. I went in the double doors and told the first person I saw that I knew I was probably in the wrong place, but my tracking info told me my package was here. He was kind enough to look for my package on the shelf and in the computer system. It's 3 stars because it's a confusing place--the signs say you're trespassing on US Government property, but the staff try to help. read more

They lie about deliveries, even on time sensitive information, then they'll be passive-aggressive and leave harassing messages in your mailbox. I don't know what crackheads Portland's USPS is hiring off the streets, but this is absolutely unacceptable and very upsetting. We want to take our business out of the city. We tried talking to STEVEN at the Distribution center and he lied to us too saying it would be delivered YESTERDAY. We still don't have the package and these idiots are obstructing our business flow. We had to ride in this heat wave weather to try to find our missing package because the crackhead who left the note in our mailbox didn't tell us WHICH post office it was at! Sometimes it's Hoyt, sometimes it's 3rd street. You have to let us know, stupid! I'm going to assume that my time-sensitive package has been stolen by your incompetent driver and I've already filed complaints with USPS, OIG, and will be reporting to BBB and business alliance as well. Should be negative stars. Nothing but problems. This is by far the worst Post Office. It was so way better before they moved. Their hours are posted on the door but the door is always locked preventing you from accessing your box even during posted open hours. There is only one teller usually a red head wearing glasses that is not helpful and usually just stands there staring at you as the door is locked. I'll be moving my box so I can actually access what I pay for. read more

This post office is horrific. My mail was sent here after the post office decided to hold my mail because the mail carrier refused to deliver because he decided to utter racial slurs at a friend who was temporaily getting mail at my residence. He refused to give him mail and his name was on my mailbox and was switched via usps to my residence when he asked for the mail he slurred racial things and it escalated and than the mail carrier decided to play victim. Calling all morning and day and the phones are going straight to voicemail. And this place is so UNPROFESSIONAL slow and unwelcoming. If at all possible if you can avoid it dont come here! read more

This is a brand new Post Office on the corner of SW 1st and SW Madison. It's clean and efficient. They have the self service postage machines and plenty of supplies like Flat-Rate boxes and Priority and Express mail envelopes/boxes. The staff have always been friendly and helpful. Not your typical bored Government employees. read more

For the record, I came here as a tourist and on a weekday before noon. Surprisingly the line was relatively long (maybe several people ahead of me). There were three people working at the counter, but of the three only one was focused on doing passports while the other two did the regular mailings. So of course there was some confusion as the passport line was going super slow. I did notice a notice stating that ALL PASSPORT RENEWALS required an appointment though. As for me, the cashier was super friendly and went through the line quickly. I was in and out of there in less than 10 minutes for mailing a care package. She even let us browse through their collection of stamps without rushing us or giving us any attitude for not buying anything. read more

The employees gere are nice but maybe too chatty because there's always a line to the door. They really need to have three employees running all the registers during the busiest times bc the people who need this office all have jobs to get back to. I hate having to spend my lunchbreak in the line at the post office. I'd go to the one across the river which is closer to my house on a Saturday BUT IT IS CLOSED ON SATURDAYS. And the machine to weigh and ship ypur own packages is broken. :( read more

Had my packages to be held because of theft in my building. The lady who helped me over the phone did her best to make me feel it was my fault because I didn't try hard enough with my building management to prevent it from happening. I did everything I could, made a police report and contacted my building. My building being completely irresponsible is another issue that I will figure out and isn't their business. Point blank I trusted usps to hold my packages as they said they would if they were not capable of doing so they shouldn't have told me they would. When I asked her if there was any reason their system didn't know to hold my package she said "no not at this time but I'll have to speak with them about it" Rather than being held responsible for not doing what they promised I was rudely advised how I should be responsible and take action. Because I haven't already made a million calls to more incompetent people that manage my building and the police office now I have to deal with this . Yeah I get it you can't hold EVERYONES packages then don't take the responsibly and tell me you will hold mine. Thanks anyways! read more

place is horrible. I paid for next day service with confirmation that it was suppose to get there the next day. they charged me over $20 for guaranteed next day delivery and the package did not get there until two days later. Do not use USPS for next day service if what you need delivered is very important. Pay the extra if there is any for Fedex or UPS. read more

I was excited to see a post office open up less than a mile from me as I need to send certified mailings quite frequently and the other one was fairly far out there. It was clean and there was not a bad wait, two things that were sorely missing from the post office I used to go to on PSU campus. read more

Another post office, in their infinite wisdom, told me to get my lost packages here. I walked 1.5 miles to this location, in the pouring rain, only to find a creepy fortress of loading docks, and no door/pickup area. Where in the blue f*ck are we supposed to go to get our missing mail? Big shocker that the postal service totally sucks. read more

This is one of the strangest post offices I've ever been in . I dropped by on one of my rare trips to any post office to send a couple of things via certified mail. When I walked in, all I could find was a very long hall full of PO boxes befitting a downtown venue surrounded by businesses. I wandered for a few seconds confused that I couldn't find the "real post office" to take care of my business. I ran into a very nice employee who helped me find the small retail outlet. I was greeted by two lovely ladies who helped me get my certified mail needs met. Everybody was very warm and friendly, and some man with a pizza box bought stamps and handed out a couple of free pizza slices to the ladies at the counter. This kind of community feeling is nothing I've ever associated with the post office, but it's very nice indeed. My only suggestion would perhaps put up some bolder signage to direct customers to the "real post office" and not let them wander as I did. However, this post office is overall a winner and some place I won't dread going to as I used to do when I had to make a trip to the old University Station up near PSU. read more

I have been to this post office several times at different times of the day. There is usually one person at the counter, or two if you're lucky. The last time I was here was in the middle of the Saturday Christmas mailing rush and they had only one person working the counters, with a long line of customers waiting. The two ladies who work there are lovely, very helpful and friendly. However, there is a gentleman called Erwin who should not be in a customer-facing position. He has been rude, unhelpful and condescending every time he has "helped" me, and I have witnessed him treat other customers equally badly.
