I needed to have a document notarized. The notary at this location was quite testy and refused to notarize it for a reason I could not discern. She said that another document was required, but could not tell me why or what it was. She said "I'm not a lawyer" when I asked her what document was needed. I took the document to a different notary at another location where it was notarized immediately and without question. I've never encountered this before and have always had good experiences at other Postal Annexes - but I won't be returning to this one. read more

I've not had much experience with other PostalAnnex locations, but this specific Hawthorne location is a dream to deal with. The staff are friendly and helpful with all my shipping needs. They offer an array of services, and have shipping materials, cards, and so much more available for purchase. I dread visiting the post office, so if a quick stop here gets the job done... why not? I love supporting local businesses, especially when most folks are so pleasant to work with. This office is located in the heart of the Hawthorne business district, so it was a pleasant surprise to get local lunch recommendations from the person managing the front desk. It's 2025, QR codes are not new, not anymore. There is a sign on the door that says "we cannot scan a QR code for a return". Well I didn't have a return, I was shipping something out... but she said we don't do QR codes. They must lose an insane amount of business not being up-to-date. Hawthorne parking is ridiculous as well so once you find parking and then show up there only to find out you can't actually mail a package. The second star is because at least she had an actual map and directions to someplace I could mail the package. But that should tell you something right there, instead of sending everybody somewhere else, just update your system already. read more

This is the BEST postal office we have been with the for 5 years. We would have packages stolen from our residence and business (Third Eye Books). I've used this business before for multiple reasons and have considered it good, considering my needs were very minuscule, needed something shipped, something printed out, just simple things. However I went there today to ship something, it's was a return from a store I purchased a hat from and when I got to the finalization process for shipping I inquired about them having my proper address for return address. They said "oh we use our store as a return address". That was a little weird to me since I'll be paying for the shipping, the vessel it's put in and if something goes wrong with the shipping process, or the business needs to send me something back, such as maybe an exchange of ya know maybe a hat that I was returning they would have the proper address. So I was just a little perturbed by it all. I asked if I could have my address as the return address, they politely told me that's not what they do. No problem, but I think I'm just gonna go back to my DIY ethos and not use a middle man for my shipping needs since it proved to be a hassle rather than a convenience, which is all I really wanted.. read more

Five stars for a post office? Really? Really! This place is great. They have all your printing and shipping needs covered, as they have contracts with USPS, UPS, and FedEx. They'll take your packages with pre-paid return labels. Lots of office supplies and boxes of every shape needed. They even have a nice greeting cards selection that is a notch above what you find at Walgreens or Fred Meyer. The friendly, helpful staff of this locally-owned shop is what pushes them into 5 star territory for me and is what really makes them feel like part of the neighborhood. Kind of expensive. They also charge a $1 "file open fee" per file which they failed to mention when I asked how much it would cost to print something out. When I said after paying I was surprised they didn't say anything the woman just said "well you didn't ask". I asked how much it would cost, didn't I? Was I supposed to specifically ask if there were hidden charges? Idk probably won't be back, kind of a not so great experience. read more

I'm so glad I found this place so I don't have to go to the awful UPS store nearby. I always call ahead of time to make sure they've received my printing job and I've had no issues so far. Rochelle has been the only person I've spoken to both on and off the phone and she's really amazing. The pricing seems a bit much compared to other places (for printing) but since I'm usually only getting a page or two, I don't mind. It's easy to walk right past this place without even knowing, so just know its set back a bit compared to the other stores and restaurants in the area. read more

I used to frequent the Postal Annex on Broadway and became accustomed to having a long wait. I recently started going to the location on Hawthorne and it is a world of difference! I don't think I've ever had to wait in line at this location. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful! I don't own a printer and often print labels at the library, but their hours are hit or miss. PostalAnnex graciously printed a label for me (for a small fee) and saved the day! I often drop off USPS packages and I never feel strange for using their drop off location without purchasing anything. The cherry on top would be free use of packing tape, but I understand that that would get quite expensive for them! read more

I am used to the owner of this location being terse and often a touch grouchy; I figure it's a tough business. What I am not used to is what happened yesterday: waiting in line for fifteen minutes to be told that dropping off USPS packages now costs a dollar a package. Not cool. I've had great service here every time I've been in, whether dropping off a pre-paid package to be shipped or making a purchase. They've always helped me find the packaging/carrier combo that will be cheapest. I've also used their other services like document shredding and passport photos. I love that they are open until 7pm on weeknights so I can come after work and that there has always been space in the parking lot in the back. Great COVID safety practices, too. Everyone is so helpful!! I can't thank them enough. I don't have a postage scale at home (who does?) nor do I have a printer, and the folks here have been so amazing even though I haven't ever had to ship a package through them. How? Well-- I'd needed to send out some eBay packages but the postage has to be bought through their website-- but the folks at Postal Annex were so generous that even though I was purchasing the postage online, they helped me weigh my boxes, and took the drop-off for USPS. All I paid for was using their copier (10 cents/copy) to print out the labels. Amazing, convenient, neighborly. Next time I'm shipping something personally, it'll be through them--this kind of service is priceless, and so so wonderful and personal and irreplaceable. I started using the Postal Annex on Hawthorne because it was very convenient to ship things, there's no post office in walking distance in the area and Postal Annex is open until 7pm on weeknights. I recently began using their mailbox service to receive packages because deliveries are difficult in the apartment complex I'm staying at. I decided to write this review because the staff has been exceptional, very helpful dealing with my packages. They are always super friendly and it's a very professional, organized, pleasant well run place. Highly recommended! read more

I only need to ship stuff a couple times a year. I'll admit, I'm not great at packing things up -- I don't have the right sized boxes, I run out of packing tape, it's a disaster. Yet somehow when I show up here they always get me sorted. Even when I've had odd-shaped or fragile stuff they've found the right sized box so my stuff is safe and I'm not overcharged. They staff are super friendly and down to earth, too. I'm glad to have this shop in my neighborhood. read more

I appreciate that they are close to home. They are pretty friendly but not in a hurry. They express gratitude for your patience. I feel compelled to warn that they didn't disclose that they added 7 dollars to the flat rate box price for shipping. When she rang me up I thought "wow the prices of shipping went up". That's a pretty ridiculous convenience fee if you ask me. That is especially in a day where the post office will let you print a label at home and pick it up from your front door. A large flat rate box should cost 18 and change. They cHarged me almost 26. read more

Nice office, nice staff, but compare prices. I mailed a package there by Priority Mail on the recommendation of a friend but it ended up costing me $16.00 more than if I'd taken a few more minutes to go to the post office. My fault for not checking, but lesson learned! read more

It's my dream to retire and open up a copy shop in a small town somewhere - but at this rate that won't happen anytime soon. Postal Annex is living my dream in the meantime, and they make it look good. The space is clean, well organized and pleasant to be in - it has a prettier, more modern aesthetic than your usual postal shop, including stationary and notebooks. The help they gave me with my package was efficient and personable, and they took the time to find the right price. I also didn't have to wait in line. There's parking in the back, so you don't need to worry about parking on Hawthorne. Overall, until I get to retire, I'll be happy to get my copy and mailing fix here. read more
