Not friendly staff, street parking, all and all - not a good place to be.

This post office has been closed since September 2021, with no apparent construction being done more than a year later. (I'm told there was flooding; happily, for me, I didn't live here then.) There is not even information on the building to indicate its closure, so that people who are new to the area would have no idea what is going on. Mail is consistently later than the day the USPS Informed Delivery service indicates it will be delivered. The population of this area of Philadelphia is around 10,000 people. We should receive a tax rebate for the substandard service. read more

And when we call to inquire about when we'll be getting mail, the person answering the call hangs up when you disagree with them. Dear God I'd consider moving out of East Falls just so that we'd get a decent mail carrier to our home, and that's only half a joke. CONSTANT problems include: 1) Carriers never even coming to deliver mail to our building on normal non-holiday weekdays (but then marking any tracked mail as "delivered" even though they never came to the building. I have been at home for days at a time and am right near where the mail should be delivered, and I have witnessed this countless times-- or should I say *not witnessed* them deliver our mail?) This is a constant issue, because the mail *usually* shows up days later. 2) Lazy and rude staff at the post office. Other patrons and myself are always waiting in the lobby ringing the bell or calling out for someone to come help us at the front desk. One time me and 2 other strangers (we bonded over this experience) waited for 15 effing minutes for someone to come out and take our mail to be sent out. Also the staff always has an attitude and hates you. 3) The bulletproof glass at the counter is way overkill. And it's especially inconvenient when you have a package you just need to be mailed out that you already bought postage for and everything. So instead of being able to leave ready-to-mail/already-paid-for packages on the counter, you have to wait in line for them to hit a button so you can open a bulletproof glass door to push your package through a bulletproof tunnel for them to take it. 4) Dirty post office. For all the sitting around that staff does, they could get up and clean the place. 5) No parking. You just park illegally, cross your fingers, run in, inevitably take forever because the staff sucks, and pray your car is there when you get back. I go well out of my way to not go to this PO anymore and I drive into Bala to mail packages out through a much nicer, more reliable, and friendlier USPS location. Please bulldoze this location and put up a nicer one, brand spankin' new staff as well; we'll wait. read more

No parking, dirty place, bulletproof glass, rude staff....this place should be shut down. This post office location is a shining example of why the government shouldn't be running a business. The only reason I went there is because I live so close. I'm now shipping packages from the website option or going elsewhere. On my last visit, I brought a manilla envelope with staples on the end. The USPS worker told me that they couldn't ship it because the staples may cut a carrier's hands. I asked what I should do and she suggested that I use their USPS tape to tape up the package after removing the staples. I removed the staples and taped up the package. The USPS worker said the postage would be $6.75 instead of the original $3.05. I asked why and she told me it's because of the USPS priority tape that I put on it! ha Nice up-sell technique. I grabbed my package, walked home, removed the USPS tape, applied my own clear tape and walked back over to the post office. After the USPS worker finished her cell phone call, I was able to get the package shipped. Now I know why they work from behind bulletproof glass. read more

My 30+ visits to this sideshow have been nothing short of horrible. The rudest ladies I've come across in Philly work here. Yikes. They make up rules I've never heard of (in my 30 years of using the postal service), they're misinformed, and have terrible customer service. I've been told to wait while they finish cell phone calls, and on more than one occasion I've seen/heard nasty verbal fights between employees and customers. One employee (Kim?) told my boyfriend he couldn't ship a package to Saudi Arabia because there is a war going on (what??). He tried to set the record straight but trying to undo mass ignorance through a bullet proof window with a line behind you is really difficult. Also, my mail carrier never leaves package notices and I have to play a guessing game if they're being held captive at the post office or not. I've been there three times this month to collect phantom packages that are "left at post office" but in fact have disappeared in the back room and I have to try back everyday to plead with Kim to look harder. From the moment we started talking this lady seemed to be in a hurry to get off the phone while trying to maintain as if she gave half a fuck. did not get anywhere speaking to the person. It's in a convenient location for me since I'm within walking distance, but if you're in a car, don't expect to find any parking spaces. Service seems to be hit or miss. I got lucky and had a reasonably nice person help me out, but I also saw a few people get yelled at by the other woman at the counter. Moved labor day weekend 2011. (Moved from one Philly neighborhood to another only 4 mi away. Put in my change of mailing address (both me and my boyfriend did it) at the end of August. We got forwarded mail (with the yellow sticker) for about a month or two. The East Falls post office hasn't forwarded one thing since mid September. I missed getting a $127 Septa trailpass (so I had to pay for it twice), among other things. Called the national USPS customer service to lodge a complaint. They said they had to check with the local carrier because that's who's responsible for the mailing address changes. I never heard a thing. I did not have this problem when I moved into Philly from out of state in 2007. read more

Never had any issues with this post office. Staff is good. It's just a regular post office- nothing special and service is fine.

The Saturday mailman that delivers the packages doesn't even attempt to deliver them. Last Saturday I was waiting on a package I needed before leaving for a trip on Monday. I left a huge note on my door stating to leave the package. Came home from work at 6pm and no package. I checked the tracking and it said undeliverable but there wasn't even a pick up slip! He leaves the packages outside of the BP while he goes in to buy scratch offs, seen that multiple times. They didn't deliver our mail one time for days and when I called they said we just didn't get to you. I could throw something and hit that post office that's how close I am! I went in one time to get a package and the woman disappeared. After 15min someone else came out and asked if I was being helped. I said yes but she's been gone a long time. She said oh she's on break. Seriously?!?!? What is wrong with these people!?!? read more

Ever wonder why the United States Postal System is losing billions of dollars? Look no further: Exhibit A - Philadelphia East Falls United States Post Office This place has the meanest staff. They will yell at you for NO REASON! To avoid being yelled at, keep your sentences short. When they ask you a question, reply only with "yes", "no", or "I don't know". Do not ask questions, unless you enjoy verbal abuse. Me: "Hello, how are you today, ma'am. I would like this to be shipped the cheapest way possible". Lady at the counter: "A:LKFJ:LAJ:FJ:LJERLJ:LW:HSLS:LDJF:LJ:LFDJ:LSAJ~!!!!ADKJF:LFKJ:LJSALFJ!!!!@^%(*&@%^(#@%^!!!" Me (thinking to myself): "I'm so sorry, please don't eat me". I'm really stingy, but I'm considering paying the extra money at UPS. This branch should consider firing these workers and replacing them with new ones. But that wouldn't work because it would result in a wrongful termination lawsuit, and cost USPS another million dollars. Or maybe they could teach some of these workers customer service skills. But that wouldn't work because it requires these workers to put in work and effort. Sigh... read more

I had no idea that mail service in the US could be so terrible. Writing a review for the post office seems dumb, but they just go periods without delivering the mail. Complaints to the actual US post office after hour long hold times - yes! i actually did that - say the problem will be addressed - but they are certainly not. Talking to the delivery person is met with indifference. Calls to the 215 number go into a black hole after being placed "on hold" Tracking says delivered days and sometimes weeks before you get packages....if you even get them. If getting mail weren't important....I would think its funny. But licenses, bills, notices, etc..come through the mail. Its just expected that the mail in the USA will work. But here....in East Falls Philadelphia...it doesn't. read more

I just moved here and already have issues with this place. I have lost 2 Netflix DVD's that were sent to me. They were not even delivered. So the postal worker or the workers at the office are stealing them. The workers are lazy and slow. This place needs to be taken over by a new crew. Its horrible. read more

So I have been here twice. The first time was to buy stamps and the second time was to send a priority mail envelope. I never had any issues at the register. On my second trip I had to wait in a small line when they failed to open promptly at 8:30am. They unlocked the door at 8:34am. In hindsight its not a big deal but I like to give through reviews. I do like that I can walk there very easily. Ps. If you are turned off by 2 inch bullet proof glass, then you won't like the massive barrier at the register. read more

First of all I do agree that the clerks need to personality check bad and customer service training..... BUT by the way I work in customer service and some customers are horrible!!!!! They think we are stuck in slavery , some and I say some come at you with a nasty attitude from the start and think your suppose to kiss there ass!!!! All people should have respect for one another....As far as the mail carriers they work very hard long hours and customers get upset when they don't get a pacific peace of mail but the carriers only deliver what is given to them..... Some customers think your suppose to go and buy the toilet tissue and toilet along with water and soap to wipe and wash their ass......Learn not to be so mean and disrespectful and remember mail carriers are entitled to a break!!!!! read more

Staff here will go above and beyond. Just like any other US Post Office, go at off-peak times and it will go quickly and smoothly.

Hate to tar all the clerks with the same brush. Some are very helpful. The manager is another story. She won't order stamps even when they are needed and she is told they are needed by the clerks. I would hate to have to work under her. She does not make things easy. We wanted this PO saved but the manager ought to be replaced. She won't educate mail carriers to their duties such as putting up flags and collecting outgoing mail. Just makes excuses. Keep complaining to the Main PO people. If you ever find yourself wondering how the united states post office can be in such dire straits, then you need to take a trip to the east falls location in Philadelphia. The employees of this location are perhaps the worst I have ever encountered. To put it simply....they suck and dont deserve to have the jobs that they have acquired. Not only do they suck behind the counter, but they are also incapable of delivering YOUR OWN mail. However, they are great at delivering my neighbors mail to me. Although to be fair, differentiating between the letters A and B on our apartments can, i guess, become quite confusing for these idiots. This location fails in every way and I would recommend traveling to new jersey for your mailing needs before having to deal with the incompetence of this post office. read more

I'd give this post office a negative 3 if I could. I've lived in this neighborhood for about 40 years. Delivery to our home was never a problem until about 4 months ago when we began seeing mis-deliveries. The problem grew to the point about two months ago when we would get 3-4 pieces of mail for other addresses three or four days a week. Some of them were for another zip code. Most were for addresses on our street on different blocks or several doors away. I always re-delivered to the proper address or sent it back to the post office if it was too far away. My wife operates a business where clients often send payment by mail on a regularly scheduled basis. Two check in one week were not delivered and never did show up. Her clients had to stop payment on those checks and reissue them. Last week I expected an important letter by certified mail. I verified the sender got the certification of delivery returned to her, but the letter never was delivered to my home. We have seen many weeks in the past 4 months with up to 3 days with no delivery to anyone of the three people adults at this address, many bills that never were delivered...I could go on and on. Many of my neighbors have similar problems. Whatever happened to the days when you had to be literate to work for the post office? I'm calling my senator and representative to see if some congressional interest might jolt this abysmal post office back into some semblance of decent customer service. read more

Rudest staff, I've worked in customer service for over 15 years and it amazes at how unhelpful most of the staff is. Every time I go, it's a battle to get my packages. Today was the icing on the cake when I had 3 slips in my box, which are wedding gifts so I have no tracking info, the super rude lady brought out one and said there was a mistake, that there was no more back there, and got defensive when I said we had just gotten married and asked her look again, well she wouldn't so now my husband has to go and try to get them. I CANNOT wait to change locations, and hope that they implement some customer service training for the staff. read more

I moved to East Falls about a year ago. I have used this post office a few times and always had great service. Parking in the area is limited but the lot by the restaurant next door is a public lot - not just for the restaurant.The staff behind the counter have always been helpful. read more

This post office constantly loses packages. In all my years of receiving mail I have never had any issues until moving to East Falls. They leave packages on my front step, on ridge avenue! for the taking. They have told me face to face that carrier will be delivering package, I sit in my living room waiting for package, shocker never comes. When I check tracking, it says attempted delivery and slip was left on door. Never a slip, never an attempt. On Christmas, they left 4 boxes on my front stop at 4 in the afternoon, while I don't get home from work until after 6. My very thoughtful neighbors saw these idiots leave packages on my steps, and brought them in for safe keeping until i returned home. now, today, another package is missing. Post office said package was delivered last Saturday it wasn't. i was home. so, a gift is now missing. thanks guys! read more

I have the WORST mail service from this office ever! I have called on multiple occasions to complain that my mail is not being delivered, and I am forever getting late fees for bills that have not arrived to my home. This month I actually did not receive my Septa Rail Service pass, which i need to get back and forth to work each day. I am completely without recourse, since this is the only service to my home. If I could give this office 0 starts, I would. I went in to send my priority mail and there were two older women working behind the counter and 1 customer behind me. Tracy was available and I walked up to the counter. I was writing the last letter of the address down on the envelope and she immediately told me, "NO you are going to the back of the line," with attitude. I then left and called the office, hoping to speak with her supervisor. However, Tracy answered the phone. I asked for a supervisor and she preceded to yell and scream at me that I was in the wrong... and she even hung up on me! How can an employee speak (or shall I say yell) at a CUSTOMER?!?! This is completely and utterly unacceptable. I am extremely offended. This is also not the first encounter that I have had with Tracy where she has given me attitude, as I come to this office weekly to send packages for work. Every time that I have been to this office she has been incredibly rude and ignorant to me. Because of this incident I am never stepping foot back in this office again, and am taking my business to UPS. All of these negative reviews are true... avoid this office at all costs. read more

I've just put in a call to the Post Office supervisor. Under the mailbox at Henry and Bowman, I found the USPS plastic carrier/container full of undelivered packages and mail [mail has already been delivered today.] Most of it is for addresses nearby. If you would like to chose among the packages some that might contain something of interest to you, why - go right ahead! I am apparently the last house on a delivery route. About a year ago the carrier assigned to my route routinely dumped at my house everything he hadn't delivered, including certified mail with the card gone [so that the sender is informed that it was delivered]. Jeez. For a while I delivered them if they were close by. Then I called the Postmaster and she was great. She sd. she didnt want me to deliver the mail or stick in back in the mailbox, but to call her so she could pick it up. My guess is they need proof of wrong-doing, not just complaints, to get rid of the substandard employees. The carrier changed, and things improved. We all need to put these compliants in writing. Name names if you've got 'em. If someone is going to send me something of importance, I ask them to go Fedex or UPS. read more
