Never do they ever answer their phone. Mail was sent out from my bank 10 days ago .we haven't got anything

I rarely use this post office for my own needs, but this is the one that is closest to my grandparents, thus making it one I have to use when I am helping them. It is always THE one errand I dread. On my most recent visit, I had 3 small parcels that were already wrapped, addressed and had postage on them. I was only there to drop them off as they were too large to go into a red and blue mail box. I waited patiently and quietly in a long line. There were 5 people behind the counter but only one was working. When my turn came, I put these on the turnstile and said (pleasantly), 'Good morning! Just here to drop off.' One of those words must have been a 'trigger' word because the woman who was working suddenly seemed like she'd had an electric shock. She bristled, made herself 'big' (if you know what I mean-chest out, chin out) made eye contact with me and demanded identification. WHAT?! I repeated that these were pre-posted and that I was only there for drop off, adding that nothing was international. She said, "I have never seen you in this post office before and I therefore have no idea what you are trying to get on over me!' Dear god-I felt like this was a bad dream. I said again that there was nothing international, nothing that needed paperwork, only 3 parcels that did not fit in the mail box. I was tempted to say that I was not shipping drugs or any other contraband but that did not seem like it would be helpful in the least. The woman said, "I don't care what you say you are shipping. I WANT YOUR ID!!!" I took out my wallet and produced my ID card. She grabbed it and said, 'This ain't no drivers license!' I said no, it wasn't as I did not drive, but it was an official State ID card from the DMV in Chinatown. She asked if I thought I was funny. What the Hell? I answered no, I was merely doing as she asked and showing my ID. She kept looking at my ID card and looking at me. I'll add that it was a recent card, I was not wearing any makeup or glasses (sun or prescription) or anything else either on the ID card or in person that day and I looked like the man on the ID card. At this point, people behind me were rustling and grumbling. I wanted to take my grandmother's packages back and get away from this nut case employee but she still had my ID card. Finally I asked if I could have the card back and have my parcels put in the back for processing. She tossed the card down, I took the parcels and RAN out of that place. That day, just because of this insane and rather frightening incident, I learned that just down the block, the UPS store accepts USPS drop offs. I was treated kindly there and related my harrowing incident to the nice man behind the counter. He shook his head and said, 'We hear a lot of stories like that. You are always welcome to drop your packages off here. We appreciate your business.' I was so grateful for someone being nice to me after feeling like I was this far from going to Mail Jail, I nearly wept with relief. When I got back to my grand's house, my Nana asked if I was coming down with something because I was so pale. I just told her it was nothing a shot of Laphroaig couldn't cure. I cannot state this strongly enough- The WORST post office I've ever been to. One person working who then yelled at me when I got to the front and picked up my boxes to move forward, that I'd have to wait as she had something to do. She then disappeared for an insane amount of time. At this point I've been there for at least 30 mins in line. There was about 5 ahead of me to begin with. Then she comes back and is insanely rude again. And proceeds to have a yelling match with me at the counter over a label. This is no exaggeration. The manager had to pull her away from the front to get her to calm down. I'm from the uk and didn't know about label format. In The past people have been so helpful. The manager came out and spoke to me about the incident he witnessed and apologised. I appreciated that and he seemed very nice. But something needs to be done about her- he shouldn't have to run around apologising to people for her. It doesn't team like this is a rare occurrence from other reviews on here. The guy behind me also complained to the manager about this specific woman too. I should have just walked to New York to deliver the package with the time this. Will never come back to this post office. I can't believe this place is allowed to run like this. Almost makes me miss LA where my local was efficient and generally friendly. Almost. Hit or miss. Entire experience hinges on two factors: 1) which clerks are at the desks? 2) how many other people are in line? As for #1 there are some staff members with whom I've consistently had very helpful, patient, positive and friendly interactions. There are others however, where it's the exact opposite. Sometimes when I'm with the nicer clerks, the others will still find a way to interject and mess things up. But, if it's the right person, it can actually be quite a pleasant experience. A true roll of the dice. As for #2 you can't really control how many people will also be there at the same time, however, if certain clerks spent more time working instead of whining, maybe the line wouldn't be so long? read more

I'm used to unprofessional behavior and poor customer service at post offices in general, but I experienced some of the worst of it at this one. I was searching for a form that I'm not familiar with, while the employee yelled angrily at me from her desk. I did have some trouble with the form, as it's not something I do often, and the employee was angry and unhelpful. Service was slow and office understaffed. The past two days the usps drivers failed to deliver my package due to having trouble accessing the apartment complex. I went to the post office as a last resort to get more information on my package and to see if it would be possible to pick it up. The supervisor, Mr. Carter, was so professional, genuine and kind. He helped me far beyond my expectations by calling, locating and retrieving my package from another location so I could have it before my flight the next day! I cannot explain how thankful I was because the package had a wide angle lens and Bose earphones for my trip to China! I've lived here for two years and I have never had a bad experience inside this post office. The staff have always been patient and knowledgeable. Def my go to post office! read more

The WORST post office I have ever been to. Walked in at 2:35pm Saturday (close at 3pm) 10/27 with one small international package and all paperwork completed. Two woman were working, I walked into one screaming at the other that they had no tape. Then she looked at me when I walked towards the counter and said "What do you want?" And I said "Need to post internationally" she let out a GIANT sigh said "Oh god" and said "WELL YOU BETTER HAVE EVERYTHING FILLED OUT!" And I said "I do" she rolled her eyes and said "Did you sign and date it?" I signed, dated and she left the counter for at least 2 minutes while the other worker was on the phone the entire time. I just walked out positive my package would never reach its destination from such a terrible store. Will NEVER go back, would rather drive to an entire other county if I had to. read more

I love this post office. I have had a PO Box here with my job since 2016 and have had only positive experiences working with the clerks at this location. I get a lot of mail and they always have it organized and ready for me when I arrive. Over the years they have gotten to know me, my kids, etc., and I almost feel like I'm walking into my version of Cheers when I enter the door. It's a very friendly place. Like most post offices, they are understaffed and overworked, which at times can lead to a bit of a line. However, the clerks, Rita the head clerk especially, treats each customer as their number one priority the moment they get to the desk. They do their best to provide great service and always find ways to save money or get a package to its destination quickly. I have seen Rita help people for 10 to 15 minutes to make sure they are getting their post office goal accomplished. She has incredible patience, as do the other clerks working there. Just like everyone else .. I had a long wait as well. But let's be serious .. Who ever goes to any post office expecting to be the only person there and that you're going to get in and out? I can be understanding .. It was 4pm (they closed at 5 .. Last rush before closing) .. It's around the holidays and the poor woman working there was the only employee in sight. I believe her name was Rita .. Another reviewed mentioned her too.. As far as postal workers - this woman kicked ass! Despite the long line of disgruntled customers, she kept moving along and even took the time to be so friendly, funny and positive to all of her customers! (Asking them how their thanksgiving was etc. telling them to have a great day..) She also knew so many people by name and greeted them more personally ("How's the kids John?")Unfortunately, I had to listen to the grumbles of Scrooges in the waiting line with me getting PO'd acting like she was wasting time. (People added commentary like .. "So what ? Who cares how your thanksgiving was.. Lets go" under their breath) .. Here's my advice - grab a cup of coffee before you go in, get comfortable in line and be appreciative there are still people in the world like Rita that give a crap about their customers. Do not rely on the promises made by this post office. They will tell you, they will take care of your issue. They will not! Nothing will happen I have tried to process my request for an address change numerous times: in person, on the phone, online. Still I keep on having mail sent to my old address. Fortunately my landlord is sending my mail to the house I bought. The fact of the matter is that this office does not know how to follow directions. I am baffled by the negative reviews on this one. I have lived in Roxborough my entire life, and I am picky, and I have literally nothing bad to say about this post office, the way it is run or the people who work there. This particular batch of employees has been there for roughly a dozen years, and in the opinion of both myself and every other local you'll talk to, they breathed fresh life into the place. I am especially confused by the statements about them being rude and inefficient. I go to this post office specifically because they are super friendly and helpful, and it is the fastest one in this area because the people there really do know their stuff. The employee that other review calls out by name, Rita, is one of the nicest, funniest, most capable people I have the pleasure of dealing with on a regular basis. She has a sarcastic sense of humor, but I have never seen her be mean to anyone. I wouldn't take those bad reviews too seriously. I am not knocking the experiences of the other people posting ratings on here, I just feel compelled to add my story to the mix, because what is described in those negative reviews is definitely the exception and not the rule. read more

5 complaints in the last month alone. Packages being marked as delivered, when we in fact had not received anything (lost, stolen, who knows). Mail being left on top of the community mail box (bills, paychecks, etc...all of the stuff you want the general public to have access too). Today was my third bad experience at this post office. I let the first two go but this one was the icing on the cake of a bad Yelp review already brewing in my brain. First I want to say every time I go in here there is one cashier on and this is the crux of the issue. The first time I went in I had forgotten to tape a section on the package I was sending . There was priority mail tape on the counter . I asked the gentleman cashier if he thought my package would go priority or if it wouldn't cost that much more? He replied with "it depends on the package" The package was clearly in his view . I said "just an estimate?" the cashier choose to ignore me. I sent the package with out the tape . The second time I went in I was second in line and the women in front of me had two transactions . The female cashier said she had something to do in the back if the women didn't mind waiting before starting the second transaction. The women was polite and said it was fine . The cashier went to the back room where one could hear boxes being moved around. She was back there for a few minutes before coming back up front and processing this women's second transaction. I had put 20 minutes into the parking meter and when I finally got out of the post office the meter had expired thank god I had not yet gotten a ticket. Over 20 minutes to process 2 transactions as I was second in line. Unacceptable. There were a few people who came in after me who started grumbling about how long it was taking and how long the cashier was spending in the back room. Today- yet again second in line the guy in front of me had multiple HUGE boxes. I laughed at the absurdity because yet again I knew this was going to take forever as it was the same female cashier from my second complaint. She messed around with the guys boxes as a massive line started to form behind me . I commiserated with the other patrons about how absurd this post office is while I waited. The cashier refused to process the guys last big box "because I don't have time" she processed multiple big boxes but refused to do the last . What kind of insanity is that? It would be like going to the grocery store and the cashier won't ring up the last third of your order because it's time for them to go home. The guy then tried to pay with his companies card to which the cashier refused him the ability to do so and he now must return with the card holder to process this transaction and yet another for his last box. It seems the fact that this cashier "didn't have time" to ring up this guys box was a lie because she first told me she couldn't process my transaction either but then immediately after gestured for me to place my package on the scale. At this point I had been waiting for 18 minutes before I was finally able to be seen. The female cashier then proceeded to dial phone numbers on both the post office cordless phone and her cell phone while in the middle of stamping, tracking and putting price stickers on my envelopes. Maybe If the cashier focused on the task at hand instead of playing on multiple phones multiple times though one transaction she could save some time for herself and the customer. I tried to count how many times she picked up the phones during the 5 package transaction but I lost count it was over 6 times between both phones for sure. I often hear about the post office losing money and I feel bad but then I have experiences like this. I'm glad ups and fedex exist to keep in check the post office to some degree and give them some competition. If you want the business you need to get some employees who can focus on the task at hand and have some decent customer service skills. Also putting at lest two cashiers on is imperative. I can't imagine how long the last guy in line had to wait. I've waited for over 20 minutes twice now being second in line. I hope the last guy in line had at least an hour on his meter because there is no way he waited less than that. read more

The last time I went the two employees were having a conversation with each other for at least five minutes while multiple people were waiting in line. if i could give this place zero stars i would. every single time i have been in here i have either witnessed the employees being incredibly rude and inattentive, or i myself have been treated rudely. i have never been greeted upon walking up to the counter, in fact most times i am completely ignored. the employees i've most often encountered are two women. one woman is especially great at either blatantly ignoring you while talking incessantly to coworkers or other patrons - all while being so slow and inefficient at her job it is almost impressive. in fact, most of the times i've observed her it seems like she spends most of her time finding ways to avoid doing any work all together. the other woman is unfriendly, very rude, and makes you feel as if you are a great inconvenience to her just by standing at the counter. just don't go here, unless you love wasting your time, feeling infuriated, and being treated like dirt. i'd highly recommend just going the extra mile down to the main street post office where you will get treated like an actual human being and valued customer. read more

Everyone that works here (which I think is 3 people) is crabby, bitchy, and completely rude. I've never been to the branch on Main Street, but I hear great things about it. And they NEVER. EVER. Restock the retail section. They still have packing materials from Christmas. So forget about it if you need a ready mailer. Also, be sure you know everything about mailing a package before you get to the counter, because god forbid they have to explain anything, because in that case, they'll just talk down to you like you are a 5 year old. What can I say about this location that hasnt been said already. This is my first one star review and I cannot think of a yelp listing that deserves it more than this place. I do not have mail pickup where I work and I need to go to this post office fairly often. To sum it up: there is no other place that I literally dread. I put it off as long as I can, take a deep breath and go inside. As a warning, do not just put one quarter in the meter. You will be in there more than 15 minutes. This is not a private company where the employees are worried about customer service as part of their job. The clerks at this location clearly are not worried about their job security. Even worse, they give off a vibe of superiority as if you just wallked into their home and dare disturb them. Its a shame, my neighbors and i wrote the local news about it. its been an ongoing issue, that needs to be handled. They just dont care, but that's what you get when they hire lazy employees. This is probably the worst post office in the country. The young black guy is the only person working the counter who is any good. Rita is an ignorant loudmouth who is rude to some, talks too much about things with nothing to do with mailing things, and takes forever to get the line down. The older black woman might be the most miserable person I have ever met anywhere and moves at half the speed of smell. If the younger black guy isn't there I will be walking out from now on and will go to another USPS location. More travel and time but much less aggravation. It's convenient to the Ridge but the employees don't seem overly friendly. Actually, majority of the times I've been in there, lines have formed and other employees walk around when one could easily open another register. They bicker openly with each other and have very matter of fact attitude when posed with questions they feel you're not listening to the answers for. Try explaining it in layman's terms. And kindness won't hurt either. It's sad because I feel it may be because they are under staffed and overworked. I approached the counter with a smile and a simply, "how are you?" And it was amazing the reply I got. A smile and a have a nice day. Sometimes you never know what people are going through that creates their attitudes. I had to check myself and not feed the fire. The people writing poor reviews aren't lying folks - AVOID THIS PLACE at all costs. Setting up our PO box was a huge hassle. The person who runs this location - Rita - has definitely in my experience been nice enough but she is completely disorganized and is all over the place more often than not. Today, upon checking my PO box and discovering that it had only one letter in it, and unsure of if others might be in the back of this notoriously disorganized place (this has happened on multiple occasions before) I asked the staff member behind the counter to check in the back to verify that all was clear. The walk is literally less than 5 seconds from where she was standing. She refused my polite request to check in the back to ensure that my P.O. box was indeed empty. I asked again, *politely* and she turned to the staff member next to her, a young man that is often behind the desk, and asked "You checked all those recently and there is nothing there right?" He gave a muffled affirmative. I looked at her and was dumbfounded. I asked politely, twice, and I received the most IDGAF face from both her, and the male staffer. I didn't yell, didn't curse and was as sweet as sugar and this person looked me dead in my eyes and *refused* to check on the mail...at the post office. My request to make a copy of my mail transfer form was also denied, and when I asked to receive the completed form back to take pictures, I was told that that was prohibited., I notified everyone present that a formal report would be filed. The employee wrote her name down as "Chandra Reid" I drove around the corner to 555 Green St. and met with a polite, but still IDGAF-faced young manager who related to me that my options were to call in to the survey line, or to write an online report, which would then come back to her. The information I was provided to file this formal report was the "1800 ASK UPS" written on a piece of receipt tape, the address of the location, and the last name of the manager - "Pinder". I don't feel like a manager providing *only* their last name is professional and though I understand the security concerns, it isn't acceptable (IMHO) for a managerial/administrative figure at an organization like the United States Post Office to provide me with such a pittance of information when I want to make a formal complaint. I was born and raised in retail, handling millions of dollars a year from the age of 16-25. When people are inconsiderate in business, especially retail it's not a good sign. What is much more troubling however is notifying people that you will take action and seeing a clean, cool indifference. It is symptomatic of an organization that does not have acceptable standards of Quality Assurance, and where generally the goal/objective is something other than a positive customer interaction every time. I've been renting this box for a year and a half now. I made the decision to close it within moments of being abused. Who wants to pay for this kind of treatment? This location is staffing kids - young adults, who aren't interested in training, getting better and becoming excellent in their field. These people are here to earn a few dollars in a job they figure is secure like the DMV is where they can do whatever they want and not have to worry about working hard. Where disrespecting clients is treated like just another day at the office. This is not what I want from a company and I will not be spending my money at/with USPS again, period. This isn't a location issue - it's a problem with the kind of people they are hiring and retaining. read more

I've had many problems with packages not being delivered to my home when the tracking numbers say they were and have tried calling to resolve it with them, but they never call me back and my packages still go missing. read more
