So sometimes when I come here and there is 1 person working, I am in and out quickly which is why I gave 3 stars. However, it seems like when there are 4 people working on one day, they can't bother to take the time to help people waiting. They're too busy chatting. This is unacceptable. They go out whenever they please. For two days they've been out from at least 2 PM to 3:40 PM for lunch. You can't call them and they have no accountability whatsoever. They come and go as they please. Happily, after 40 minutes on the phone, I filed a formal complaint with the office of the inspector general OIG, who's office is in charge of the post offices. Alright, I experienced some of the best customer service of my life in this post office. Ok - I might be exaggerating a bit. Still, as Becca D has noted, wonderful employees cover this location. Before I go to the service aspect of this review, its worth pointing out that this location is full service. You can pack and ship, get a PO box, passport services, etc. Their hours are rather standard, but also have time on Saturday if you can't fit them in during the week. Remember, rates are based on destination zip code and weight (outside of flat rate offerings). You can get an idea on shipping costs ahead by checking out the USPS website. Getting to that service bit. I've twice come here a bit lost and confused about which method would be best (i.e. cheapest but safest) to get my package to its final destination. The first time, as I scouted out boxes which I'd have to pay for, staff volunteered to help find me a 'free' box. Rather than buy a box ($4) or go for the higher cost shipping of a flat rate box (none of which seemed to fit anyway), she advised me on the priority boxes available, helped estimate the cost ahead of packing, and even provided tape once we found a workable box. The second time was a different employee, which I knew now to ask, but went out of her way in a similar manner as well. 'Snail mail' may not be a method I use often in today's electronic age. Still, it is good to know when needed, the good old postal service can come through in the clutch! read more

There is one gentleman in particular who works here that has been so rude to me on several occasions for no reason. He does his job with such an attitude that I'm surprised he still works there if he seems to hate it so much. When I'm trying to send packages and somethings wrong, he tells me the correct way to do it, but he says it so condescendingly and in such a patronizing tone that I'm amazed he's still employed. Utterly disrespectful. Then he assumes automatically that I'm upset with him personally and not the situation in general. I have no reason to be personally upset with him until he starts being rude for no reason whatsoever. I know you're miserable at your job, sir, but if you're so unhappy that you feel the need to let your attitude affect it, you have the choice to quit and go work somewhere else. read more

Never have I ever felt so disappointed in humanity. "Ladie" w/braids made me feel uncomfortable because I utilized the coins from my center console, perhaps $2-$3!, she rolled her eyes, sucked her teeth and spoke under her breath as she reluctantly handled my shipment. If I did not have a P. O. Box here for over 25 years, I would never go in here. Used to love this post office with the old staff two years ago, unfortunately they retired. The new folks are very rude, not knowledgeable and disrespectful. Do not waste your time at this post office! They know nothing about shipping internationally, cost me a return shipment which was over several hundred dollars, they claim they did nothing wrong. They failed to notify me of our business P. O. Box payment due, got only a late notice and told to pay a late fee of "22.00" BOGUS! I have never had an issue with a late payment until now. They actually lost my package, but it took 2 hours of being on hold on 3 different days (they never answered, just hung up after about 30 minutes) and 5 visits to the actual store before I could find this information out. When I went to the store they asked "why didn't you just call" I told them I did and they challenged whether I was calling on the right number. When they saw my call logs they seemed shocked, but still they were clueless. Pathetic, legit their employment is borderline a crime. Avoid at all costs, and honestly, a lawsuit may be the only adequate option for me. read more

The folks who run this cutest neighborhood post office once again disappoint the neighbors living here who rely on the efficiency and professionalism that this place has shown over the 30 years that I have lived here. Last Saturday 5/16/20, with a line of folks waiting at the door, this branch did not open at 8:30 am like the schedule has indicated. I waited 30 minute until 9 am when 2 female staff were seen walking around inside the dark post office. When several customers asked "Are you open?", they responded "No we are closed". That's it! No explanation. No note posted online. No sign on the doors. No regard for all the waiting neighbors' time and postal needs. When asked the reason for the unannounced closing, one worker answered "We had an issue". Really? . . Then post a note on the door early BEFORE opening to inform folks. Simple! We would understand. What a breath of fresh air! I had been going to the USPS in Penn Center but due to repeated horrible experiences there, I've vowed to only go to the Yunk USPS when I can on Saturdays. The hours of this location are kind of crappy seeing as they close at 4:30pm on weekdays, which is why I can't make it there during the week. But the Saturday hours work for me so problem solved! I've been here several times before but this is the first time I actually paid attention as to what was going on lol. I send out packages to my deployed boyfriend basically every few weeks, so having a good experience at USPS is important to me. What WONDERFUL employees at this location! I was happy just looking at their smiling faces and dealing with their friendly personalities. There was no unpleasantness or irritation that I was so used to at the other location. They were very helpful and pleasant overall, even nice in dealing with each other. The whole process of mailing the package is mundane to me since I do it so often, but I'm glad to have found a place that doesn't make my stomach want to turn when I walk in, lol. This location is pretty large and generally clean, although it looks like some stuff is missing here and there. The 0 wait and swiftness of the employees though doesn't give you enough time to linger on that stuff though. I've got several more packages to send for the remainder of my boyfriend's deployment and I will definitely be coming to this location! Thanks for starting my day off with a smile! :) read more

The epitome of poor customer service and even poorer employee training. I spent an hour at this office today trying to ship a package to Germany and had to leave before I was able to complete the shipment. I was redirected to the end of the line twice, the second of which was due to the clerk requesting I write all the information on the box. This was after she redirected me to the end of the line to fill out an SLI. Why she didn't tell me to also write the information on the box at this time... I don't know. While waiting I witnessed 4 other customers leave unhappy and empty handed after waiting for 30 minuets or more. Shippers: Save yourself time and headache and ship FedEx, UPS, or at least go to a different USPS location. USPS: Give your employees the tools they need to perform their job correctly and efficiently. Failing to provide these tools is unfair to the employees and causes your organization to loose revenue. read more

When I am able to I go the the post office in Lafayette Hill. Never had a problem and everyone is very friendly. Stay away from the manayunk post office if possible. read more

Staff is Hit or Miss, but usually more helpful, and want to help you get your item to the right place on time. The scale is usually broken, but they will weigh it at the counter. Free parking is a definite plus, thank you postmaster for this! Wish they had longer Wed or Saturday hours. read more

Very upset with an employee there. Simply went to get something post marked and she had the audacity to fat shame my 6 month old baby. She not only called my child overweight but continued to criticize that I fed him baby foods too early and ask what his pediatrician thinks about his weight. I used to feel bad for the workers at this post office because they apparently sit in complete misery for 40 hours a week. I wish that they could find jobs that they enjoyed more because every last employee is the most unfriendly rude unhelpful miserable unhappy person I have ever encountered. Even though this post office is the closest one to my house I will still go to the one on ridge just to avoid the horrible experiences I always have there. They make you feel like you are the biggest inconvenience to them. They are always pretty horrendous and they give you a receipt with a survey on it which I never fill out because I don't wanna leave negative feedback for them because I would feel so bad for them. However today this one man was especially rude AF and I Just don't feel bad for them anymore because at some point you just make a choice to be a miserable person. I love the post office on Main st. but hate the delivery service since they changed the carriers route, I get other people's mail some not even in phila. I miss my old carrier who was great for the past 16 years. I know the new carriers are not use to this route but they need to be more careful. too many different carriers . This post office is worlds better than it's counterpart up the hill on Ridge avenue (go there and do not expect to be out in under thirty minutes, even if you are the only customer in the building), plus you can apply for a passport here. Found at the upper end of Main street near the firehouse, it is a clean and bright location with pleasant and competent employees, it has a functioning AC system, and it actually has a parking lot underneath that is even serviced by an elevator (very clutch considering the PPA swarms down here like river rats). A bit farther away from my house than the Ridge ave. P.O, but after today's visit to main street I will never go to the Ridge location again. read more

Let me just start by saying that I live across the street from a post office (not this one) and I will be driving to this location from now on instead. I went there to have my passport application processed because, unlike the 30th & Chestnut location, they allow you to make an appointment so you don't have to spend a whole day there. I was going to go on my break from work, but I was called to a job on my way over. I called the post office, and much to my surprise, they agreed to fit me in later in the day after the last appointment! When I got there, the woman at the counter and the man who processed my application were both super friendly and gave me great service. I have never had this type of experience at a post office; it made my day! read more

Every time I go to this location there is only one person working. The younger women who works there is great, very helpful and friendly but it would but nice if she had someone there to help out. The office workers are so kind but it doesn't make up for the fact that I went in here (a passport facility) for a scheduled appt. and filled out all the required papers to renew my passport based on what the staff told me. Turns out she had me do the WRONG paperwork and she submitted it incorrectly. Now I have to pay the $200 fees again to do on my own what she should have done. Mind you I waited very patiently while this took almost an hour as she had other customers. The appointment is to ensure everything is done correctly! Location is convenient on Main Street and it's great they have their own parking lot for customers. If it weren't for the parking garage, I wouldn't come here as getting a space on Main Street would be difficult. When I first started coming here, there were two employees that were very helpful and pleasant. Lately the person who's been working the counters is lazy and rude. I will not order anything worth a decent amount of money because it's doubtful it will show up. The manager here is totally useless. Sorry I can't find a better word to describe her than this. I brought in two express mail failure receipts. Both clearly stated that the packages were delivered later than the guarantee date. She refused to give me my money back, citing that it doesn't say LATE on the website. Excuse me, I do not think it ever says late when it's late. The delivery date itself reflects lateness. On top of that I wasted almost one hour waiting for her to print out the tracking number and go over it. I am not sure why the government wastes money hiring these unproductive people. It was such a simple job, anyone with half a brain could get it done within 10 minutes. Eventually I got my money back at another post office but I still had to go through hell and some insult before they gave my money back. If you are not willing to refund customers, maybe it is time for you to stop offering the money back guarantee service. I am not here to defraud you! I am just asking for what I am entitled to. This location is up there with the one in East Falls. It has horrible customer service, terrible deliveries and god forbid anyone waits on you when you go there! I am so sick of having packages and mail delivered to my office that don't belong here but in the mail boxes!!! I am not the postal woman, this is not my job.
