The angry lady mumbles a few things and displays a bunch of sheets of stamps. I don't care what's on the stamps. I say "oh great, do you have rolls?" She mumbles again and I just point to one style. "How many you want?", she says. I reply, "well, how many of them are on a sheet?". She raises her voice - "HOW MANY YOU WANT?". I think about repeating myself because I'm just trying to refill my drawer. I don't know how many bloody stamps I want". so I say "I don't know, how about 50?". She rolls her eyes at me. "You can get 40 for two sheets or 60 for 3 sheets". Fine, I say, lets do 60. Why did this have to be so difficult? I asked a simple bloody question. Every time i come in here I get some variation of this conversation. I'm absolutely sick of it.

I said what do you mean I can only get 5 scanned and then she suddenly means that she can only scan 5 and that the rest have to be scanned at the kiosk. Anyways, I go over to the kiosk with my 4 packages and while I'm using it someone else comes in and the other girl (clerk 18 or something I asked for her name that's all I got she was sitting on the left side) helps that individual. The kiosk says that it's out of receipt paper so I go back over with my 4 packages and the original girl that scanned me in has a customer so I wait for the "ugly" girl and she just walks away continues on her phone and ignores me traaaaaaaaaash man trash trash trash. Someone else behind me walks up and now we are both waiting. When the first girl finishes I go over to her and she scans the rest of my 4 packages. And then instantly she comes come forward to the guy behind me lol.

The lines can be long at certain times of day which I just accept now, but that particular employee always says a package cannot be sent out if more than a day from the date mentioned on the shipping label. The issue is if you sell on eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, and other sites, the shipping labels are often created for you when someone purchases an item, so you have minimal control over what date shows up on the label - you are allowed several days to ship out the item per policy on those sites. I have sent out 1,000+ packages over the past few years via several different post offices in NJ and now here in Philly and NEVER heard this until I arrived at this particular USPS. The other post offices in the area have never mentioned this policy either. Also saw this employee yelling at a lady who was visiting from Europe since she was looking at the gift card display which was placed past the "wait here" line - the lady apologized, mentioning she was not from the states and didn't realize the rules. This employee then went on to sarcastically and patronizingly ask her "what, you don't know what a gift card is? You don't have those in your country?" The look on that poor lady's face - all she wanted to do was mail something out. Anyway, awful experience here unfortunately. The one at 720 Arch St has been much more pleasant and is open slightly later too! The one in the subway station by city hall is rarely open on time based on their stated business hours and often closed early so it's hit or miss.

They have a system where one person is out in the line helping people figure out how to send and address things and one person is at the cashier. This makes the line move a lot faster because people don't spend time asking questions at the desk and instead they use the little desk along the line to address their mail. The staff was very friendly and proactive in making the line move. The overall rating here is a 3 but you can see they must have changed something because if you look at the past 2 years yelp rating, it's pretty good.

There's greeting cards if you really need them, shipping supplies for last-minute packing, and it's clean at this location. There are two entrances, one from the street, the other via the building lobby. This office isn't open weekends, but thankfully there are other USPS locations nearby. Haven't had any long waits here, and the staff have been nice to me. I don't have complicated needs, and I don't think I'm complicated to deal with, so your mileage may vary.
