This has to be the absolute worst Post Office I've ever been to. The sign says they open at 8:00am Mon-Fri. Got there at 8:02am on a Wednesday, doors weren't open. I waited a few minutes to see if any workers would open the store. At 8:08am, I saw a women opening the doors while holding a conversation on her phone. There was one man in front of me in line. The way she talk to him in such a condescending, rude manner. I was in disbelief. The level of customer service is set in hell. Not to mention that she was still talking on the phone throughout my entire transaction as well. Then I'm listening to her conversation as she's complaining about the previous customer in front of me to the person on the phone. I will never go back there again and I don't recommend anyone else do either. If I could give a 0 star rating I would but this platform won't let me. read more

AVOID the African-American lady with the burgundy, waist length locs AT ALL COSTS!!! Horrendous customer service. She sat there, loud and rude, chit chatting with her male coworker and managed to mess up both of my transactions. First she gave me a money order for the wrong amount until I checked the screen. Then she was running her mouth so much, she failed to deduct the postage I had affixed to the envelope being sent certified, so she had to redo everything. She is by far one of the worst postal employees I've encountered. The only saving grace is that this location is hella convenient. read more

Staff slow walk....then engage in lengthy personal conversation with customers. There is staff in the back but they do not come to the front. Recommendations for management (after all, the manager is in charge); 1. Coach staff to stay focused, a post office is not a living room 2. When the line is over 3 patrons long (as it was on , encourage staff to communicate with you and come out and help clear a back log. read more

Avoid this place like the plague (if you can)! Always very long lines. The stamp machine in the lobby has been broken for over a year (only accepts pymt via credit, yet the card reader is broken) so you're forced to wait in the long line. They only accept your credit card if its been signed on the back (even if it says 'Check ID' & you have ID). Also, this is the WORST customer service I have EVER received in my life. The employees are rude, work slow, and will just stand around talking to each other rather than wait on customers. Absolutely horrible. It deserves zero stars! read more

The only reason I go to this location is because it's the one most convenient to my office. But I've had so many issues with this place that I'm now only going to use my Manayunk USPS and just mail things on Saturdays - not worth it to deal with this place. My boyfriend is deployed so I mail him packages every few weeks. Usually stop at this USPS since I take the train in. They open at 8am on weekdays IF YOU'RE LUCKY. Sometimes they just won't open for no reason, no signs posted or anything. By 8am there is always a line of 20-30 people outside. Once they opened their doors this morning, I was out in no less than 20 min. I already have my package and paperwork ready to go and everything. They have 6 counter positions and the max number of employees I have EVER seen here (EVEN DURING THE XMAS RUSH) is TWO people. They are so horribly understaffed, it's ridiculous. The facility itself is disgustingly dirty and filled with lots of empty spaces that should be holding boxes, paperwork, and other needed items. Signs are haphazardly taped together after obviously being broken. The carpet is covered in filth. I've dealt with very rude employees here before, god forbid I should ever ask a question. Giving 2 stars only because it's government funded so I'm sure the issues aren't necessarily the employees' fault. read more

This is by far the worst Post Office you will ever happen upon in your life, let alone the city of Philadelphia. I suppose I have been spoiled by amazing and wonderful Karen and the other employees at the location near 4th and South, but the service at this location could best be described as BEYOND SUB-PAR. I would give this no stars, but alas in order to tell you all about how poorly I was treated I have to render at least a 1-star rating. No working pens. Not a single working pen. So when I went up to the desk and asked for a pen (to fill out my envelope, which i was of course paying them for, and also paying to ship!) the cantankerous african american woman huffed and rolled her eyes. Then the skinny older white male who was walking past her said, in a fake sing-songy voice "its beginning to look alot like Christmas...".. as if customers needing pens is solely a holiday season issue? As if I was somehow wrong for needing to address my package? I could understand if I walked into a motorcycle club and asked for help with finding a pen and shipping a package, That would be completely understandable if a biker rolled his eyes at me and huffed about having to help me. Dare I say, Dan the Motorcycle man might have been even MORE helpful than the PAID GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES working at this location. Needless to say, I got an attitude from the woman the rest of the time I was there. The rest of the people in line looked surprised that I was prepared to stand up to her- but especially when you have a good health plan and tons of days off, I don't feel bad for you and if you hate your job- QUIT and let someone like Karen with a fantastic attitude try for your job. If it is an inconvenience to have to help someone at your job, perhaps you should be finding another job. Even if it's out of your way- go anywhere but here, My fave is the 4th and South location. The Land Title Building at Broad and Chestnut (door near Sansom) is a distant second place- I have received some attitude from a worker there BUT overall they have been immensely helpful. The gentleman who used to work on the floor not behind the counter is an absolute angel and I miss him! Seriously. Avoid this post office at all costs. Hopefully enough people avoid it and they can shut it down and send those miserable people off to the unemployment line (just kidding, they'll go into the government's unemployed person queue and be sent elsewhere. By far the worst post office in the city. Line is always out the door and there is one worker always stuck by himself. I tried to go twice and was unable to mail my stuff because I don't have an hour to waste here. Even the self service machine was broke both times. Hopefully someone takes this into consideration and hire more people. It is overwhelming for your employees to serve 100 customers by themselves. read more

I went during lunch on a Friday expecting this place to be packed with everyone running errands. Nope, just fine! I was kind of that annyoing person who brought two boxes and requested she let me know what options are the cheapest for mailing and she was super nice. She gave me some tape and when she noticed I was struggling putting the box together, she told me to come back to the counter and she just giggled and helped. Man, if this was the 30th street post office, I would have been cursed the f out! Another time I went to locate a lost package and although they couldn't find it, were nice and tried to help. Everyone who was there was pleasant, everyone working pleasant. In and out experience. Granted, the outside of this place is soo old and ugly (Suburban station in general is jank!!) but serves the purpose. Best way to get here is probably right across city hall there's the clothespin, just go downstairs and you'll see it on your right. Kinda confusing! read more

If I could give a "zero" rating, I would. I mailed in an important letter which needed to go to City Hall from out of state. So far, the letter has been sitting at the following location ( USPS Regional Destination Facility PHILADELPHIA PA DISTRIBUTION CENTER) for 6 days now. All I get from the USPS call line is......we've opened up an investigation. Even the tracking says (moving thru the system and is on time to arrive)....which is incorrect. Even the USPS customer service operator told me....the status shown on the website is "computer generated" and totally INCORRECT. Day 6.......and no one knows where it is.......only that it arrived at the above location 1 week ago and never left. read more

This is a review of the 31st Street Post Office, which is the headquarters for Philly mail, and you'll undoubtably need if you need to do after-hours mailing or get a passport. They're open 7am - 10pm (used to be 5-midnight)... but the lobby/automated machine is 24 hours. The staff is extremely friendly. There's free parking on the Market Street entrance, and as long as you have packing materials in your hand, you can grab something off of the trucks and not get ticketed. My only beef is that there are about 15 windows... and there's on average three employees working. Why can't the Feds spare a dime? If you look in the parking lot, there's Saabs, Benzes, Lexes, and Beamers... but when it comes to us lowly people trying to send our moms a care package or handle some biz, we get the poor treatment. This is where I do all of my mailing. read more

I WILL NEVER BE BACK HERE. Literally not worth the stench and the headache. Located in between the subway and friggin Suburban Station. Be prepared to wait in a long line while one employee is working and three others are standing around doing NOTHING. They are slow as molasses and rude as hell. This USPS location deserves zero stars. Today's debacle was that the location did not open until 8:20 a.m. despite a posted opening time of 8:00 a.m. A substantial queue formed and became increasingly surly while a postal worker loitered behind the service desk, refusing to open the doors. For heaven's sake, if you can't manage to observe your own posted hours, then change your hours so your public's reasonable expectations are not dashed. Shame! read more

If you brave the dank underground to use this post office, which I often do, be forewarned: at any given time of day, the odds of coming here & finding a long line are 99:100. But have no fear; several of the workers at this location are hardened veterans who have streamlined operations with startling precision. Whether you want to get 7 money orders, mail 10 packages, buy 3.5 stamps, or all of the above, they know how to get you out of there as fast as possible. I'm telling you, they don't play in the concourse. So don't be scared of the line. Before you know it, you'll be at the front. If you'd like to forego human interaction, there's also a lovely automated postage machine for envelopes & packages. read more

Short Version: They stayed on the phone with me for about an hour to figure out what happened to my lost package! A friend of mine mailed me a package from this location but lost her receipt, and with it, the tracking number. It should have been delivered to me weeks ago, but we had no way of knowing what happened to it. So I gave them a call (from Boston) and explained the situation. Bonnie Brown, the supervisor, was extremely helpful and even cut short her lunch break to deal with my problem. She even waited on hold while I talked to my friend on the other line to obtain information (time the package was mailed, last 4 digits of her card, etc). Once she realized that the package still hadn't left a USPS shipping center, she even encouraged us to file a complaint with the customer's affairs department. Thank goodness she was on duty!! I'm taking away a star because I wouldn't be writing this review if it wasn't for my misplaced package in the first place! read more

Earlier this week I made the mistake of using this post office: 1) out of convenience of location and 2) proximity to the letter's destination (center city). I needed to send a certified letter. It was accepted just after 8:00 on Tuesday. It dawdled the entire day at this location, and it's taken till Thursday to find its way to the big 19104 post office. So apparently the mail items that originate from this post office somehow become imbued with the same velocity as that of the counter staff. Save yourself two days & just take your mail to the PO across the street from 30th Street Station. read more

Sorry I inconvenienced the branch for asking for stamps. "We don't have $1.36 stamps". So I asked: do you have $1.5 or even $2 stamps? "Not this branch!". Any other to make that amount? "No. We only have $.68 stamps". I'm not good at maths but two of them makes $1.36! And my taxes pay these people!! read more

Until USPS gets enough funding from the federal government. Expect extremely long waits at most post offices. Especially the ones in standard locations, such as this one in Suburban Station. The ladies here help out as best possible, though I imagine they can get annoyed at the people who simply don't understand the stress of such a job. I've seen lines that go out the door - but again - they do the best they can. It's an issue when you only have 1 to 2 ppl serving a big portion of Center City. read more
