It was an enjoyable drive (and located nearby Yellow Dog Eats if you want lunch while running errands). The building looked like the kind of USPS you'd find in a small town Hallmark movie. There was plenty of parking. It was pretty standard on the inside. There are packaging supplies available along with cards and gift cards. The employee and his manager were both really nice people. I can't remember the employee's name, but he is bilingual. He was patient with my questions and I appreciated that he didn't toss my package into the pile (like I have seen in other mail carriers locations). I was also pleasantly surprised to see it wasn't as costly as I thought to ship my package! I'm glad that this is now my closest USPS and can count on an enjoyable experience for my future visits.

Seems like everyday is different hours and there is a lunch break and then closes at 2:30pm. They have the basic services available, but with the slow service, you may have luck doing a couple mins down to the next location. I appreciate this location because they do have a self-serve kiosk although I do think they can easily support two based upon the amount of business that they have that comes through here. In this trip, I had to stop by the desk because I had to mail some perfume to my mother for the holiday season. It did take me about 20 minutes in total by the time I got in line to what I actually was able to check out. They do have a new associate on so he's still learning , but I've always found all of them to be very professional and respectful.

Nor the promise of next day delivery by the post master or the manager of the Hiawassee Florida postal office. At this point it's been a month later and the package has not been delivered. I am the CMO for a global company. I stopped in here to send a package overnight (today is Friday 3/17) for arrival on Monday (3/30) morning delivery. Precursor - Prior to that I had asked (and graciously paid for) notary services of the documents. No problem. Services rendered, services paid for. Now we get to the shipping rates. The woman pulls up rates starting at $54 dollars for April 4th delivery and spanning $272 dollars for Monday delivery by 10am. Yes, you read that right. $272 dollars for an envelope. For Monday delivery, by 10am. That's the cost of shipping a small refrigerator freight on a truck. Obviously I was shocked. Asked her how that was possible. Her response was "yeah...you have to talk to the owner Harry, he controls the prices." Well Harry...here's your chance to retort. How is it possible in any world to send an envelope weighing a quarter of a pound...overnight to Alabama...an hour and 27 minute flight away from Ocoee....and have it cost $272 dollars? By the way, the girl behind the counter tried to validate this at first with a response that was "well that's the price of shipping these days". For what? A bison to Guam via boat? C'mon. For reference, Afterwards I called Patricia over at FedEx on West Colonial, who I also do business with. I gave her the contents, the weight, the address and the shipping expectations of delivery on Monday by 10am. Her rate via FedEx? $53 dollars. FedEx...a global shipper...$53.00 for Monday morning delivery by 10am. Harry's Mail Center...$272 dollars for Monday by 3pm. In the end I took it to the post office on Hiawassee. Express Mail with tracking. Arrival Monday by 3pm. Cost? $11.28 I work in an industry where media, print and costs are marked up...usually about 11% to make profit on running a business. If you do that math...thats a 413% markup. And some bullshit. You're flagged Harry. Not sure what kind of operation you think you're running, but it will be reported.

I went in as soon as I got the note (it was custom jewelry made from my mothers jewelry, as such it was irreplaceable, so I did not want it sitting in a random warehouse) There was one person in front of me being seen to and 2 people working (but only one working with that person). I still waited in line for 15+ min. When they did get to me they initially couldn't find my package. Nerve wracking. Very stressful. When I said something to the tune of "what do you mean you can't find it" clearly a little panicked, then she got the other person involved and she found it immediately...was there really a need to put me though that? So, while I did not use them of my own will, I don't think they would be my first choice as a shipper should i need one in the future.

The woman working behind the desk was really kind, and when our transition was done, she said "hold on, I have something for him" (talking about my youngest son). She came back out with a cute butterfly on the end of a small stick. It was so sweet that she would go out of her way to get something for my son. I obviously can't guarantee she'll always have these butterflies, but these are nice people here.

The people who work at this post office are generally lovely. The Oakland Post Master is a cantankerous, angry man, who if you ask a question of him, raises his voice at you and starts to "preach" at you, depending on what question you asked. He apparently has been at the Oakland Post Office for quite a while and feels like he has the right to dictate local politics and to express his opinion on any topic. If I see him at the window, I say nothing, get my business done, and try to leave before he can go off on me. Don't get me wrong, everybody else that works there is 100% lovely. He is not frequently at the window, thank goodness. Otherwise it is a quaint, customer oriented, and kind place to be. I recommend it if he is not there.

That always bugged me since this is tax supported service and one that is being forced upon me. They are closed a lot more then they seem open. The lady working now is better and if it keep up, I'll write a new review with 4 stars. 5 stars for the cuteness effect.. small little Post Office situated in a gorgeous town with many large live oak trees and dirt roads. I love walking up to the post office with my girls to get the mail. I hate having to worry about if my mailbox is overstuffed because I forgot to pick it up and the hassle with having to know what carrier is shipping my online orders. USPS doesn't like and won't accept packages from FED EX or UPS. Pros - this post office is never super busy at holiday time so I can ship without the massive lines and headaches.
