Then, because you were expecting home delivery, the package doesn't have a PO Box number. Now it's in limbo and often gets returned as undeliverable. And if it does have a POB number they don't sort the packages for days because they are short an employee. I understand there's a new post master; however they need to get this straightened out ASAP. Multiple pieces of pottery in each box, yet anything large or flat wasn't wrapped well and the items in the box had room to roll around which I gather isn't good. I had to submit a claim through insurance for the items. Also the number both online with UPS and with maps 'cannot be completed as dialed. UPS customer service said that's the only number for the store and we tried multiple phones. Short story, get the insurance or pack your own items.

We chose to not join the 3 hour island tour and instead wander at our own pace. We walked out to the farthest point with the Atlantic Ocean on our left and charming homes with interesting roof tops, gardens and some already vacant or boarded up for the season. Likewise many stores, bakeries, fudge and ice cream shops were closed up too. We ate at the Lookout and shopped at the Sanctuary gift store. It's probably better to come visit when people are here at their summer homes and businesses are booming. We had been watching the weather forecasts for two weeks and it was our good fortune and second try at coming to Martha's Vineyard was a success. Coming from Hawaii the brilliant display of fall foliage is breathtakingly beautiful. I love seeing pumpkins on porches or wreaths on doors. Oak Bluffs had whale tops on weather vanes, widow's perch on top of roofs, some 3 storied homes. One part of town stood a gazebo surrounded by possibly Canadian geese with their trail of droppings on sidewalks. Came upon their post office but no postcards to be seen around town to send to the grandkiddies. Nice town to visit for a day in October. Our bus driver was right, no sooner were many passengers on our bus nod off to Lalaland.

From the moment we entered the Post Office we were greeted by the postal employees who gave us all the information we needed and actually held a conversation with us unlike some of the other Post Offices we have visited in the past.
