The service team at Crane Appliance have been servicing my home on Martha's Vineyard for 10+ years. They are great - friendly and responsive! When Brendan Crane says he'll take care of you - HE WILL We bought a refrigerator from Crane Appliance in Vineyard Haven in July 2020. We also bought a 5 year extended warrantee. The unit did not work properly and in August, Crane replaced it with another unit - different manufacturer. Over the years we have had problems with the second unit. The freezer drawer was always frosting up and Crane always sent someone out to try to fix it. Early this summer it was worse than ever and I called Crane Service but was told I was no longer under warrantee. I assumed that since we did not get the replacement refrigerator until August that our warrantee ran to August. The reservice representative and her supervisor both said that was not the case. After posting a review explaining what had happened, Brenden called me and said we were still under warrantee and the service person would come out. They came out twice and ended up replacing the cooling component for the freezer. Two weeks later, I opened the freezer in the morning and everything was defrosted. I called Crane service and texted Brendan. After two hours I called Brendan and explained the freezer was not working again. We went to the Vineyard Haven shop to see if they had anything in stock that would fit in our space (our house is 160 years old). They did and it was delivered this afternoon and all we had to pay for was a new 5 year warrantee. This is a great example of REAL customer service from a family-owned company that cares about its customers and reputation. We bought a new washer and dryer early in the summer and ran into some snags with the new units. The problems occurred at the height of the summer season so progress was stalled a few weeks but to be fair, the units were operational so it wasn't an emergency. I'll spare all the details but I will share that in the end, Crane came through with 100% customer satisfaction results. One of the Cranes reached out to me to hear the issues and asked for a day to come up with a solution. The next day he called with what I consider a completely customer-focused solution. The Crane team is phenomenal! My old refrigerator stopped working on the Friday before a Monday holiday and I was worried I would lose all of the contents of the fridge and the freezer over the weekend. The service team determined the issue, pulled in the sales team who helped me choose a new model and engaged the warehouse team who located my new appliance and worked with the delivery team to load the truck and install it in my kitchen by 12:30pm on Saturday. All this in less than 24 hours!! Everyone cared about my situation and did their best to coordinate the solution - making sure they followed through on their responsibility and ensured the hand-off to the next group happened. I purchased a washer last month. On the FIRST use, I found that the washer is malfunctioning. It shakes violently and won't spin. A pricey brand new washer that won't work. I now have pounds of wet laundry. The business told me it could be 3 weeks until I have a technician but I managed to get an earlier date . I have called and left my number for a manager. I'm quite disappointed. I hope that I hear from them in a timely manner. I think a replacement is in order instead of another company rep . Update : Essentially, a malfunctioning washer was dropped off in my Basement. The shocks are not working, per technician. This should have been tested before it was delivered. Essentially, We paid for an new unusable washer. Now we have to wait for an snw I have received no call from any sales rep/ manager, just one service call. We are unable to wash any clothes. Update : I was called by owner personally. The unit was eventually changed out for a new and different one. Unfortunately, it was a faulty unit from manufacturer. I'm relieved and thankful to have the issue resolved!! read more

When you think that customer service is as low as it can go, Crane's has outdone itself again. I made a purchase of a dishwasher, which of course was not in stock. When I drove to the store to pick it up, the salesman retuned with a microwave! When I explained what I HAD purchased, he and another salesperson brought the dishwasher out and literally left it in the driveway. It was POURING rain, and when I turned around after opening my tailgate, there was no one to be seen. I had to struggle (in the rai) to load the dishwasher myself. How pathetic is that? read more

2+ years ago...Purchased maytag..micro..dishwaher..stove.refrigerator.and washer ..dryer..spent quite a bit of money..from Orleans store..the dishwasher rack broke..the oven aquaclean..self clean...does nothing..i was told only 1 year warranty on dishwasher..and that the clean cycle works fine.baloney.!!!..this problem cited in many Maytag reviews..then last week the micro..goes on the blink..wont work..even after reset. Bought a washer and dryer and paid to have it delivered as well as for removal of the old appliances. When the delivery people showed up, they told my husband we would need a plumber to upgrade the mixer valve, so instead of installing the dryer and removing both of the old appliances, until we could get a plumber (which could be a long time), they left me with the old ones and put the new ones smack dab in the middle of my kitchen when I had company arriving for Labor Day weekend. (I had to wait 2 weeks in the first place to even get this incomplete delivery). When I called Crane to discuss having this situation corrected before my company arrived, I was told nothing could be done until possibly three days later on Tuesday, and even then I could not be assured that the delivery people would come back to move the appliances out of my kitchen and remove the old appliances. I spoke with someone named John who was extremely rude to me. John sounded as if I was interrupting his day and he had zero interest in speaking with me. There is still time for Crane to make good on this situation and if that happens, I will happily post an update but for now, I am very disappointed with Crane Appliance and will never buy from them again. I am a first-time customer and received excellent customer service! Here's what happened: While off island, my tenants requested a new water filter for my refrigerator. I panicked because I couldn't receive it from amazon for three days. When I called the store, the salesperson couldn't find the correct filter in the database. He said he would call me back. In less than five minutes he called me back to say he had the filter. This is clearly a minor purchase, but I he treated me as if I were buying a major appliance. As a Contractor Over many years I've bought at least 50 appliances from Bob Crane. My latest was for my own house. The delivery guys were great. In this time of Covid 19 they paid close attention to my safety wearing masks and gloves. This is not by accident. Management starts at the top and Bob pays close attention to his business. I bought a refrigerator from Crane Appliance on Martha's Vineyard recently, I was able to replace my current one that stopped working, within a short window of time (even though there is a big back log of appliance availability). The sale person Tom Doran helped me find one in stock that could be delivered quickly, he really spent time searching and looking for a quality Bosch refrigerator for me, the brand I wanted. I had an issue with the delivery. When I went into Crane, immediately to address my issue with them, Tom stopped what he was doing and escalated the problem to help me out. No attitude, just extremely trying to trouble shoot my problem. Within 40 minutes, I had the delivery crew back out at my house, with a Supervisor - making sure that they would resolve my issue. It was fantastic customer service. I found out later, when I called Tom to thank him for the great service, he told me that the Supervisor that came out was actually Bob Crane. Tom said, Bob Crane is huge on customer service. I was really impressed and most appreciative. Don't they ever answer their phones?? Once you work your way through the labyrinth of a voice mail menu, you can leave message after message and no one will ever return your call. So do you have a repair appointment or not? You will never know! They outsource their repairs to some off island entity who, not surprisingly, also does not return calls. Ahh, but when they come they misdiagnose the problem so that a few weeks later you're back to square one. This, by the way, took a month. THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE ISLAND. I'm not sure just how they get away with this but we'll never buy another appliance from them. ps it's interesting that there are no reviews here since 2015. Our gas clothes dryer wouldn't heat. Our regular appliance serviceman retired, so I called Cranes. I have done business with them for televisions, air conditioners and other small things, but never for a major appliance repair. I can't say enough positive things about the service we received from the scheduler, the parts department, and especially the repair technician, Luis. Outstanding! The tech was ahead of schedule, so our appointment was earlier than anticipated. One part came in very quickly, and once again our tech was here earlier than scheduled. The last parts came a few days later and our scheduled appointment was moved forward nearly a week. The tech arrived early, completed the job after working in a very tight laundry room, and needless to say my wife is extremely happy and relieved that the dryer is working perfectly now thanks to Luis! read more

Very disappointed. They were supposed to call us before the day to give us an installation time for a new range top. They did not. I called the next morning after they were open. No one picked up the phone. I left 4 messages and they only called me hours later, just before they were to arrive. Once he came, he said they couldn't do the work because an electrician was supposed to disconnect the system first. He didn't know why no one had told us that. So now we have to start again. I asked how we coordinate the electrician and the installation so we didn't have to wait weeks without a stove. He said he didn't know. read more

It took 6 months and three repair trips to fix a simple problem on an expensive stove bought at Crane appliance. In the process, we did not have a front burner all summer and they broke the enamel on the stove top by over-tightening screws. So I would say it was very poor quality service at a snail-like pace. I buy on-island to support local businesses but in this case, I will now travel for appliances. read more

Island service shouldn't be on island time. As an appliance repair service, basic parts should be kept in stock to allow for timely repairs for basic things. We've had to repair several appliances bought from Crane's, and they have not successfully repaired a single appliance without several calls to the home. I've started just purchasing new appliances from their competitor, because they are more reliable and provide a better customer experience. Their selection is smaller, but that's a small sacrifice for working appliances and timely service. read more

I almost never write reviews, although I read them. I have to write this review because I am so disappointed in the service we received from Cranes. We were told, like many other home owners on the Island, that you have to buy appliances from Cranes so that you will get service if anything breaks down. So we paid top dollar for all of our appliances. At the end of July, right before we had tenants coming to stay at our house, our ice-maker broke and water started dripping out of the refrigerator onto the kitchen floor. I called Cranes and they told me that no one could come for 5 weeks! I told them that it was an emergency and that our cabinets and floor were warping because of the water. No one cared. No one came. Finally our builder, who knows nothing about appliances, came over and was able to stop the flow of water, but not before our cabinets and floor warped. It is now 6 weeks later. Cranes came after 5 weeks and diagnosed the problem- a broken ice-maker, which of course we already knew. Now we are waiting for a part to get to them so they can install it. I don't know what one should do when buying appliances, since Cranes has a monopoly on Martha's Vineyard, but I'm not the first person to report the same lousy service. read more

VERY important to note here that every positive review here about this place applies to the mainland branches. It would have a well deserved 1-star rating without those. This place really goes out of its way to remind you that they are the only appliance dealer on the island (for now). Prices on the island appliances are almost laughably higher than their online counterparts, and on the rare occasions that the sales staff answer the phone they will give you a laundry list of reasons why they quote such higher prices. The simple fact is that every part of your dealing with crane appliance from the rip-off quotes to the inevitable breakdown of your appliance (I bought a toshiba TV that lasted 6 months) feels like a monopolistic scam. Bought a GE Profile clothes dryer from Crane. The price the salesman, John Allanbrook, offered was fairly competitive. We had a problem with the dryer the second day. Not anything caused by Crane, but rather something wrong in the manufacturing by GE. They returned immediately to repair it. Seemed like it was fixed, but then we discovered with a heavy load the problem persisted. I spoke to the owner, Bob Crane and he came out himself to try to fix it. He said he didn't want us to have to wait, as it was a new dryer and his tech teams were booked for a week. After over an hour of effort he ordered a new one for us. New one was promptly delivered and works perfectly. Crane's service was extraordinary! read more

I commend Crane's for their integrity.. Today,I went to Crane's to purchase a new grill as the burner on my MHP grill was shot. When I told the salesperson why I was buying a new grill, he informed me that the burner was likely covered by the MHP warranty, and even it were not, I would end up with a better grill if I just replaced the burner for $100. He checked the records, and the warranty was still in effect. So I took the new burner, and the grill is now working like new. The salesperson could have easily made a $500 or more sale without my ever knowing that I did not need a new grill, but instead he did the right thing. I have purchased several appliances, including the grill, at Crane's, and would not shop anywhere else for appliances on Martha's Vineyard. read more

I am disappointed at Cranes attitude. In the past when I needed a part for an appliance I purchased there, I would go into their office, they would look up the appliance I needed a part for, confirm the part needed, and order it for me. Today, I walked into the Falmouth Store and got the same treatment I would expect from the big box stores. I was given a business card, with a number to call. We support local Vineyard businesses, and have been good customers of Crane's on Martha's Vineyard. All of our appliances (and some replacement ones) were purchased there. Service on our refrigerator has been very disappointing. Moreover, we can't get a call back from the Service Department (as promised) or a plausible, reasonable answer, much less a solution to the problems. It was suggested that the refrigeration went out "coincidentally" when the Crane's repairman worked on the ice maker. Good customers should have good customer service; with promises kept. Sure would like an answer and solution. read more
