    Me not getting my mail!
    Amaury S.

Today all off the mail the whole building's mail for 559 is in 565 and vise versa. Why doesn't the post office check up on these losers. They must be drunk to make such a huge mistake. To have two buildings with each other's mail. Get it together. The hiring process must be do you have legs and arms great you can deliver. Please fix this problem before I go postal!!!

Sign lying about their Sunday hours

I've had my issues with this post office for a long time, as it's gotten worse over the 5 years I've lived here, but this is ridiculous. I went to pick up a package today, Sunday, because they *refused* to deliver it to me in my building. They have a huge sign up saying they are open for package delivery on Sundays from 10-2, but when I got there around 11:30 am the doors were locked. Are they open on Sundays or not? All USPS does is lie to their customers!

Here we go again. Carrier didn't ring my intercom or door. Release the package 10 mins ago to a total stranger. Who the hell is FC?

Here we go again! This is so frustrating and upsetting. I'm so tired of this nonstop 10040 Post Office bullshit. My package was delivered today, on a Sunday, 10 mins ago. But who the fuck did the postal carrier released it to? They did not ring intercom or come to my door. As always, I tracked the package online for its destination delivery status. An alert popped that it was delivered. It said it was signed by F C, who the hell is F C and why only initials??? Seriously, who the hell is this FC that the carrier decided to release my package with trust that was not to my home? Why not leave a redelivery pink slip if you didn't want to hand me my package? I ran downstairs to the mailbox, nothing in my mailbox nor anywhere near the area. None of the neighbors know anyone in the building with the initial FC. FWTW, it can be anyone off the streets be handed my package. Why the fuck do these carriers who are federal workers under the Dept of the Postmaster General do this? Why release a package to a total stranger without even contacting me, or just put your damn finger to press the intercom that is working for me to come down or knock on my damn door to release the package to me directly with security measure. What the hell is going on with this post office & its bitter callous lazy workers???

If I could give zero stars, I would. In the last month that have lost international vital documents, and my carrier has left irreplaceable letters jammed into the mailbox frame so they cannot be removed without destroying them. Junk mail from politicians is the only kind of mail that gets in undamaged.

All around terrible service. The line is always ridiculously long, and the employees are basically useless.

Went here to get a PO Box because I know not to expect the USPS to deliver large boxes to a walk-up.

This is by far the most disgusting, unprofessional probably most uneducated group of individuals that collectively work under one roof. The line no matter what time of year, how many people are actually in line or under any circumstances you will wait at least 30-40m. Even if there's 2 ppl ahead of you. The employees are by far the laziest people you can encounter at a government run facility. Just today we had one of their truck delivery woman by the name of ATKINSONS legit steal a fellow neighbors key infront of everyone and denied it. From what we all saw the keys were in the door and our neighbor was just 5feet from the door where we were all standing once she left the keys were missing. When she was approached she flat out lied and denied it claiming someone let her in. There was NO ONE THERE WE WERE THE ONLY ONES STANDING THERE THE ENTIRE TIME AND NONE OF US LET HER IN. The best part is the keys were there when she approached the door and were missing once she left The post office was notified and we asked her to be removed from the route yet they said she did nothing wrong. Sounds like a bunch of scam artists if u ask me. Stay away from this place

Had to ask what happened as I get daily emails stating of what mail I will be receiving for the day. I showed them the email and the lady at the counter explained to me that sometimes the email isn't exactly accurate and that at times that expected mail can come a day or two later. She did say however that if it didn't get the piece of mail to go to another USPS location close by because that is where my carrier is located. Went to the other location a few days later being that my mail still was not received. They searched their archived mail from previous days not to find it at all. Still till this day do not know what happened with that exact piece of mail but thankfully the business that had sent it was able to print me out what they sent me on the spot once I had went there to let them know that I had not received their mail. Hopefully this will not become a consistent thing where mail gets lost because even with something that may not be that significant can be a bit stressful and definitely time consuming.

No more waiting in the long pick-up line for larger items. I'm very happy about this change. I've also noticed that the lines in general are a lot shorter lately. There seems to have been a change for the better in the way things are done at 10034. My previous review is below: I gave it two stars because of the entertainment value of the complaints and banter in the incredibly long lines here, and because the staff, while painfully slow at their jobs, seem to be genuinely nice folk. It's a really frustrating experience. While standing in the lines here I sometimes fantasize about taking over as manager, somehow improving morale and maybe sending all the staff to a typing course so I don't have to enjoy the nail-biting suspense of watching clerks search all the keys before beginning their tentative two-finger data entry. (How can basic data entry on a keyboard that you use every day be so difficult?) I don't know what the qualifications are for working here are but it seems like data entry, a lively step, the ability to efficiently find labels, packages, forms etc etc. are not among them. I'm starting to wonder if this is where they put burnt out mail-carriers to work. It's possible and it would explain a lot. When I bring my postage-paid ready to ship packages here, all they have to do is scan the package with the laser, put it in the pile and give me a receipt. Instead everyone in line needs to wait while the clerk looks at the packages like he or she has never seen mail before. I decided to pay for a PO box here, because USPS 10040 down the road cannot be bothered to deliver or leave notices for my mail and I've lost packages because of it. At least with a PO Box I know I'll get a delivery or a slip, even though it requires about 40 minutes of my day be used up standing in line to get my packages. Seems like the only guaranteed way to get your mail in Inwood.
