I think they are going to rent out the rest of space, on top of the post office at 149th and Grand Concourse is the expensive restaurant, Zona De Cuba. This is a very nice post office, in a historic building that's definitely worth the visit for those interested in the history of the neighborhood. The staff is very kind, friendly and helpful. They've gone out of their way to help me, whether fetching a hard to locate package out of pickup hours, or helping me attentively even though I rushed in just as they were about to close. Like any other post office, if you go during lunchtime on a weekday, you should expect lines. That doesn't mean the staff isn't competent, rather that you picked a busy time. They also stay open later than other locations, which is very nice. When here, check out the depression-era murals, which have NYC landmark status - much like the building - and are quite beautiful. The building itself was just renovated, and is quite impressive with its facade lined with very high windows. A Bronx treasure. read more

This morning before work I tried to ship three packages at this location (total weight 25#). I had all the packing slips ready, and already paid for the shipping online using Pirate Ship. All they had to do is just take the packages and give me receipts with the tracking numbers. It turned out that I had to sign something, but I didn't have a pen on me. I asked if I could borrow their pen, but they said "no". The woman said she doesn't have a pen while literally holding one in her hand. Because I couldn't' sign, they did not accept any of my packages, and I had to bring these 25# to work with me. The worst part is that all these are Christmas presents going abroad, and these shipments are time sensitive. Dear lady at window #1, I hope you enjoy yourself. This is probably one of the better post offices in NY that I've visited so far. The staff is friendly and always helpful - which is rare. The lines are usually never very long at various times that I have stopped in for service. This is also one if the largest post offices in NY as well. As a result they have quite a few service windows. I definitely prefer doing my postal business at this location rather than at my own neighborhood location. read more

This is the main post office for the Morissania section of the Bronx for all your Postal needs. This location stay open longer than most post offices and the hours are usually extended during the holidays. It's also the primary post office for passport applications although you must be here, on line, by 1:30pm on weekdays because they stop accepting and processing applications at 2pm Had to edit review, just found out the children have to be present.... The Agent, Wanda, said "why you think all these children are here" I said because school is out and I thought their parents didn't have baby sitters :-D read more

I checked the website and there was nothing there stating it would be. The Post office administration has the worse city employees. Doesn't matter where in NYC you go they're just all bad. If you are there to pick a package, you can forget about fast service. You may get a clerk who barely speaks English or a clerk with a stinky attitude. Once the regular clerks transferred, the service has gone downhill. You get an email that your package is there but the clerk can't find it. It's like it's fallen into an abyss and they cannot or will not look for it. They tell you to come back later. Meanwhile, the package may be sitting on their shelf for days. read more

The building is historic, so that's nice. And it doesn't get all that crowded. I came here actually to check out the famous murals they have on the walls, and unfortunately, they were all covered up. Tons of construction going on. The really nice thing is that they're open until 8pm on weekdays, which is really convenient. read more

If you want to get COVID-19, be sure to stop in here. Few people are wearing masks (none of the employees were), there is no social distancing at all, and you have to pass by a line of unmasked, sniffling, sneezing people hanging out at the front in order to mail a letter. read more

It's always busy, and there is a reason, it's the general post office, meaning, all mails must somehow pass thru here. Now if you're just going to post something, I would suggest, getting a prepaid postage online, and then dropping it off at the box. Their hours of operations is wonderful. read more

I find that the employees here are good. They are quick, and courteous. The line is rarely unbearable and they have deployed folks to help patients prep while on line. The building is beautiful, but hasn't been maintained. It is badly finished in the latest bullet proof screens which adds to the dreadfulness. I personally hate when postal personnel is placed behind glass but can understand how years ago this was necessary. Now as gentrification continues to seep into the Bronx I look forward to the glass coming down. read more

If I could I would give negative five stars. I had the pleasure of dealing with Gwendolyn Wilson three times and all times have been horrible. She was beyond rude. I swiped my credit card and she said "did anyone tell you to swipe yet? Cause I didn't, well NOW you can swipe" she also used her instagram while I was speaking to her and also ignored my questions and made it seem like a had to go on a long epic journey to find the correct mailer box when I asked her where I could buy it and then says "well I guess you could buy it from me".... This is not a good place to renew your passport. They gave me the wrong information 2 weeks ago and my application was sent back to me. Today, nobody is assisting customers for passport applications & there is a long line waiting. This place is UNPROFESSIONAL! Where are the workers to assist us? They don't want to assist us. I ordered clothes for my sister for Christmas gifts and never received my package. I placed order 12/15/18 just so it would arrive before Christmas. Unfortunately to my surprise I NEVER received the package. I received an email saying the package is out for delivery 12/19/18 at 10:18 AM and on the same day of 12/19/18 at 1:54 PM, I received another email saying failed delivery attempt because I obviously wasn't home and was at work. I called when I got home to reschedule for Redelivery to be delivered on my next day off. On the Redelivery date I scheduled for my day off, the package never come; at this point I know it would be after Christmas now that I should expect the package so because of that I called to make a complaint and at the same time Reschedule another delivery. On 12/29/18 at 9:59 AM they send me an email saying my package was delivered. I was at work at the time of delivery and no one was in my household. I checked with neighbors and no one has any knowledge of my package. I NEVER RECEIVED MY PACKAGE AND WANT EITHER MY PACKAGE OR MY MONEY BACK. read more

I find that this Post Office has workers who is suppose to deliver packages very lousy. I wasted a day waiting for a package on a Saturday and no one showed up. But I received an email stating that I missed their delivery and to reschedule for a redelivery. I had to cancel the order because of this. Saturday was the only day that I had available for delivery which is why I was waiting for the package. The driver did not leave a notice that he even made a delivery. Service like this is unacceptable. This occurs because people do not take the time to hold people responsible for their actions and file complaints. Companies needs to STOP using the USPO for sending packages. I will not make anymore orders from companies that use USPO for delivering packages and I urge others to do the same. read more

I was tracking a package from Great Britain. It was supposed to be delivered the day before my trip. I was at work looking up the tracking number and saw that it had arrived at the post office near me-this one. So i was like okay cool, I can just pick it up instead of having them hold it overnight. So i call the place hoping to have them hold it, no answer. I got transfered several different times to different post offices - no luck. I ended up just going after work. I asked the woman at the counter if my package was there, she said no it was with the carrier. Annoyed, I ended up never getting my package. But thats not why I'm writing this. The post office was very empty as that one always is on the weekdays, around the time I called and around the time i showed up. I asked her what the phone number to the post office was and she said "why". I said so i wouldve avoided this conversation and travelling all the way here to ask my question. She said " we don't have a number". I pointed to the phone right by her. She says "well if it rings theres no guarantee ill answer it if im in the middle of something".
