I have been to numerous post offices all around the state and other states, and this one have made it on the crap list. Hell, most of them have... Anyways... I live in a residence with a security guard who checks in the package. What I don't understand is why my package says "Delivery Attempted" (Monday) on the website. I haven't even received a slip for my package so I can pick it up. The next day (Tuesday) I went online and scheduled a redelivery. The next day (Wednesday) it says "Delivery Attempted" on the website again, but the time stamp says 11:30 pm. Now, I have received a message from Amazon stating that there was a delay. So I decide to go to the post office because I needed my textbook and I was getting tired of the delays. (Thursday) I walk into the post office and it's complete pandemonium. Trash was on the floor; there were three different lines with only one of the lines labeled. So I had no idea where to start. I wait in line for 20 minutes, and a worker comes around and announces that I must have a slip. I try to explain my situation to why I don't have a slip, and she proceeded to tell me that I needed to go to the machine and print out a receipt. The machine doesn't have any directions on how I can obtain a receipt so I call the worker back, and she walked me through the process. I was lucky that no one got on the line, so I got the same spot that I was in. I stayed in line an extra 30 minutes while another customer yells at the worker for the post office for losing his package. Finally, it was my turn. When I got to the window I saw other's personal information (name, address, phone #), packages, and mail scattered on the desk and back table. I was utterly appalled! That stuff is supposed to be confidential! The lady searched for my package for a full fifteen minutes and then blamed me when she couldn't find it. Her words were, "You should have told me the full story about your package". When I first walked to the window, I told her that I hadn't received my package and I scheduled a redelivery. I mean shouldn't it also be in the system? At this point, I was pissed and trying to bite my tongue. She eventually came back and said that my package couldn't be found. She gave me the number to file a claim. read more

I arrived at 11am & they only had 1 window open & a line stretched to the door, at approx 11:30am they opened up 2 more windows. I was called to window #3, the customer service was horrible, & omg there were ants crawling on the counter, I mentioned it to the clerk but she didn't even respond, I asked for African American stamps which this Harlem PO didn't have, smh. I slipped through the window ($50 bill) & she said since I was her 2nd customer she didn't have change. I ended up getting "A day at the beach". Stamps cost $15.60. In my opinion to make this a better experience there could be during the morning more available clerks, cleanliness & choices of stamps. I would not recommend this Post Office. read more

I have never everrrrr in 18 years of living in Harlem had ONE good experience at the post office on 125th & St Nic. The staff that work here have no work ethics, they treat customers with disrespect and nasty attitudes. All the way from the supervisor to the tellers at the window. I entered this place happy, but I left crying. I can't believe it.The staff member here--perhaps even the manager--was super RUDE. Why did she have to be so mean? I had simply come in for assistance with a merchandise return, something I don't do often, and needed a little guidance. I wish I could give them negative stars or none at all. This is one of the most gettoest post office I ever been to. You have the staff fighting and screaming in the back instead of taking customers. People on the line brought it to the female manager attention and she was playing dumb. You can hear the staff cursing each other out and legit going blow for blow sounded like packages were getting damaged in the process and all the manager said was I don't hear anything and all the ppl standing in line are like lady seriously... tried to get a package but the mail man did what he does best and not deliver a package says no one was home when there was.. sent a message saying to pick it up at the post office and guess what it was not there so I had to come back another day. I came to get a package which was clearly ripped opened. I mentioned it to the staff and they just brush you off. This place needs to be evaluated. This should be ONE of the best branches of all branches because there should come a sense of PRIDE should one have the amazing opportunity to service this amazing diverse community, as a postal employee at this branch. BUT unfortunately thats just not the case at this branch. The workers are rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful at time. The branch has gone virtually for the unprofessional behavior that most of the workers demonstrated. Its so sad, they forget its our tax dollor that funds their salary so in essence they work for the people of harlem, but you couldnt tell by the lack of professionalism. This location does NOT offer walk-in passport hours, despite what was listed on the website. The attendant was respectful and helpful. I am under the impression that NYC USPS does not offer walk-in hours in general. However, they will help you make an appointment with a nearby office. I'm don't even want to rate this post office, they should get no stars. This is by far the worst post office ever. They can never make a deliver but other courriiers can which baffles my mind. Every time I have a package being deliveered by them, I alway get a attempted delivery never delivered. It's so annoying because I feel they don't even try. And again why is it Amazon, Fedex, and every other courier canmake a delivery but they can't. There was one time they got through the first door, which is the locked door, but they decided to put an attempted delivery notice instead of walking through the UNLOCKED second door and put it where all the other packages go with is by my stairs. I then got to talk to the manager and she made me feel like I had done something wrong when I only had questions for why my package was thrown away. I'm all for the public post office system, but this specific one treated me terribly last year. I'm a musician, and I was being sent an old used iPad to read music for wedding gigs. Unbeknownst to the sender and I, I needed to have a P.O. box to receive something like that. The first time I went to pick it up, I was told of our error and that the iPad was returned to sender. Fine, that's on us -- however, there was a glitch in the website that let the iPad be sent even without owning a P.O. box. In addition, my tracking still said that the package was ready to pick up -- no indication that it was returned to sender. I was very rudely told that the person who was in charge of scanning the package to update its status must have missed it. I then waited almost a week, checking the tracking multiple times a day. No update. I finally went back again to see if I could get any confirmation that the iPad was safe and sent back. They stonewalled me: 'What makes you so special that you need to know that your package is safe!' The clerk began to ignore me and walked away. I left again. After this, the sender filed a formal complaint with USPS to look into this, because at this point, we were worried that the package was stolen and that I would never receive it. After investigation, USPS determined that even though I didn't have a P.O. box, I should still be able to go to the post office and receive the package. I printed out the literature from the investigation, and went for take three at the post office. This time, I was immediately met with hostility and sent to the office manager. I showed her the papers in which USPS told me I had to pick up the package. 'That's just some random worker in Iowa -- I run this post office, and they can't tell me what to do.' After about 10 minutes of refusing to look into it, calling me things such as 'stupid' and 'arrogant,' I tried to explain that I knew it wasn't their fault that they got it wrong, but I felt I was correct to worry that a valuable package was lost without any recourse if they could just override what an official USPS investigation told them to do. They finally 'checked' in the back for the package, came out and told me there was no sign of it, and that their computer said it was returned to sender (still no official update of that on my end). I then asked to see their computer to confirm that it said 'return to sender.' The manager then got more angry and yelled at me that she didn't have to show me anything. I left, defeated. All that was left to do now was put in a formal request to activate the insurance claim. I called USPS representative to make a complaint on my end. They were very sweet and apologized for how this office treated me. However, the insurance claim was denied because USPS still believed the package was at the 125th post office to pick up. Somebody was lying to us. After this, I just resigned to the fact that this iPad must have been lost to the nether, or stolen. Finally after over a month, somebody from USPS called the sender, saying that they were very concerned about this situation and that they would look into that office themself. Once they called, the post office magically found the iPad and returned it to sender. It was at the office the whole time! This ordeal caused me to be late to school and work three times, I was verbally abused, and left to think that my package was lost and that there was nothing I could do about it. The reason I had the iPad sent to USPS in the first place was because every package that gets sent to my building gets stolen, and I couldn't risk that for an iPad. Who knew the thieving didn't just stop at our supposed trusted federal post office. I will never use the 125th St. post office for anything ever again. read more

When those of us waiting in line asked the retail desk for help, they told us to bang on the glass doors. After doing this repeatedly, nobody came. We had a passport meeting scheduled to bring our infant in. We filled out the forms and booked a time THROUGH THE POST OFFICE WEBSITE using THE USPS appointment scheduler. Upon arriving having made arrangements with work, schedules and nanny we were told the passport lady wasn't there despite appointments being available. There was no assistance, we were just rudely told to try again later. I just moved into the area. I was supposed to have a package delivered last week. I got a notification saying "attempted delivery" and then "package being held at the post office at customer requesT." The delivery was never attempted and I never requested anything. As a student, I don't have the time to go to the post office. They open and close during my school hours. I went today, 9 am in the morning, and the worker already had the biggest attitude in the world. She told me my package wasn't there, that she didn't know where it was, and when I asked why it was being held she retorted with sass and wouldn't even answer. I've done nothing to her. the most despicable post office ever and they have been for years! its even more despicable that its despicable in the 1st place!! how do they still have jobs!!!!!!! I kid you not every week I when im supposed to get a package, they always say I'm not home, no safe location, my premises is vacant or ends up in a totally different mailbox and not even in the same bldg or at times not even within the same complex. Some helpful info: when you call the 800# tell them you want to make the complaint against the carrier. When you make that type of complaint it gets escalated to USPS Consumer Affairs (they know this post office is a problem), some customer service reps will just make the complaint against the package, when the complaint is against the package it gets routed directly to the post office. I know because it only took 30+service requests against the post office in less than 1 year, 10 btw March and now (July). Consumer Affairs is extremely helpful in contacting you and finding out what's happened to your mail/packages. It's such a shame how this post operates and I believe it's because of the demographic. I wish one day they would have an under cover person come through that assess them all drivers included! They better stop because God DOES NOT LIKE UGLY! read more

I do my best to avoid going here, even though it's really convenient for me, because most of the crew is pretty uninterested in helping. And I don't blame them. The disappearing packages has gotten really, really bad. Dozens of packages sent through USPS simply disappear. All are marked as "delivered." Every day, we receive 5-10 pieces of mail that do not belong to us. Sometimes they belong to one of the buildings next door. The USPS is either stealing the packages or they are mis-delivering them and they are then stolen by that person. I don't think people realize that keeping any mail or packages that do not belong to you is a crime. Another investigation is needed. Everyone should be sure to make official complaints, to the inspector general - not just to this location. read more

I didn't think this location could get worse, but it has. Very poor and rude customer service, even worse than before. Always long wait lines since workers take their sweet time and don't care that there are lots of people waiting. Once you do get to the front counter and ask any questions, they either say they don't know (even if it's simple mailing questions any postal worker should know) or tell you to read the signs posted to get the information and even give you the wrong information with attitude and being annoyed that you're inquiring. Workers probably feel secure since it's a government job and no matter how slow they work or terrible they are to customers, they still have a job. It's a shame there are no repercussions for their unprofessional behavior. This USPS location has always had long wait lines since I've been in the area over 10yrs now, it is way overdue for improvements in the management and staff.
