This is hands down the WORST post office in Manhattan. Slow, rude, constantly packed with people. The lay out is awful, and communication is bad. I should've got this postal clerks name, but that is irrelevant with her...attitude, standoffish, and rude. When it comes to city government, if a business address is listed, simply as City Hall (Zip Code included), why would a postal clerk challenge me on NOT putting down or giving an incomplete address on the envelope? If you live in an apartment building with a buzzer, this office will consistently fail to deliver because they are apparently incapable of ringing a doorbell, then will refuse your package when you pick it up, even with the proper last name and ID, if your shipping label also says "home," they will insist that's your last name. read more

Eventhough it says open at 8am, the tellers don't get there till 9am. Don't bother showing up on time because they don't.

Again this postal office workers do not do their jobs. The cashier was texting when I walked in and then I placed my box with another cashier and she told her no don't take that we are not supposed to take that. I have been giving double boxes for the last 2 years. They told me to talk to the supervisor a Ms. Williams who stated "they" will not take it but they have taking it. I overheard another cashier in the back call someone the "b" word because another customer came in making a complaint about the carrier just sticking a sticker on her door but not knocking to make the delivery. I'm never against people not having a job to go to but they should make this post office location just a kiosk space for drop offs. They are so miserable and not helpful. I pray they all get new jobs that are deserving of unhappiness. Also the worker using the "N" word in a workplace is so unprofessional and low class. ZERO STARS RUDE STAFF GO TO ANY OTHER LOCATION (even if it's an inconvenience) it's worth it I came in to today to ship a package. I am moving soon and did not want my address as the return. I have mailed things at this location before without needing to put a return address so I was a bit confused but I was told that I can put another address as the return and not mine. The clerk, MR. BAPTISTE, was extremely rude and abrasive towards me the entire time. He walked off from his desk to then talk outloud about me in front of the entire post office to the point where everyone could hear. It was very insulting, embarrassing and unnecessary. I asked to speak to the supervisor who made me wait 30 mins only to refuse to give me his full name or even do anything about the situation at all. He was 100% useless. I work in customer service and that is never acceptable no matter how frustrated you are. I have officially filed a complaint to USPS and I suggest everyone who left a negative review do the same! Call 1800 275 8777 (keep asking to speak with a rep and choose the option "complaint" then file a case) This location needs to be shut down or under new supervision ASAP. Listen. Yeah...this is one of the sadder P.O.s in the city, and that line quickly starts to wrap around itself on a level that rivals the City MD lines right after COVID testing first became available. But I truly feel the location deserves a solid 3 stars because the staff seem to be doing the best they can in a really bad situation . This location is insultingly understaffed but the employees still interact respectfully with the customers. One staffer was proactively going down the line to see if anyone had something she could take instead of that person having to go to the counter. And the neighborhood folks know the deal. So everyone nicely makes sure the newest person to enter the building knows where the end of the line is. The woman at the counter is very nice. She quoted me that my item would be delivered the next day. It took two days, but still arrived within the delivery window I paid for, which speaks to the staff behind the scenes working to get the mail sorted and on the trucks as quickly as they are able. Everyone knows U.S.P.S is a flawed system. And we've all been to fully staffed locations where there was no one being proactive, friendly, or really trying to help. So I'm personally cool with this branch since I may have to pad in some extra time to handle my business, but it gets handled. read more

This place is a literal dumpster fire. Can't count how many times they just don't even try to bring over your packages, just marked undeliverable. Every week I catch up with my neighbors in line as we stand there for an hour waiting to pick up packages that were supposed to be delivered to our buildings. By the way, sucks to suck if you want to drop off a prepaid package! There's only one window and no package drop, so get in line with everyone else! The actual folks at the counter vary from very patient and kind to downright nasty, so I'll call my 1 star just an assessment of this location--everyone here is either being respectful despite an awful situation, or reacting accordingly, LOL. Maybe if we get this down to a 1 star average, the postmaster will finally check all the complaints in their DMs and hire more people here?? A girl can dream. read more

This is the lesser offender of the two post officers I've been to in the NYC area. This place is located in an ok part of town, and sees quite a bit of foot traffic. Still, I haven't had to wait too long to get a package shipped out, or pick up a package that these folks refuse to leave in the lobby of my building. I sometimes get bad attitudes here, which I gladly return in kind. But there are staff members here that are awesome and actually do their job. Those gems could teach a thing or two to their lazy ghetto counterparts staffing the USPS on 140th street. While the customer service in this office runs along the average, I would now rather just do business with UPS and FedEx. read more

Who it may concern; I would like to address this issue ASAP with the management of the USPS truck driver or mailman that delivers my packages in my area Zipcode (10031). During this past month I've had 6 different packages that never were delivered (nor attempted). Typically on the tracking notifications, my packages are marked as "No Secure Location Available" and most of these delivery status changes are updated around 7pm, so I assume this is the same delivery person. I work from home and home all day, so I'm always available to receive packages. I really want this to stop because I receive packages from USPS on a daily basis and going to the Post Office to pick them up is one hour waiting in line. Also the post office for my address is an absolute nightmare. The entire staff is rude and unhelpful, making it that much more frustrating when I am forced to pick up packages. I should be able to depend on deliveries being delivered without issues, especially a repeat issue. I'm getting very frustrated with all this inconvenience. Many of my packages are time sensitive as well and with this ongoing issue, I don't receive my packages and it causes even more problems. This issue must be resolved. I got a package pick up on April 15 from my apt, because I'm immunodeficient and my package which was priority was finally mailed from the office on MAY 5.... so it sat in that building till someone noticed... meanwhile I had put claims and escalated claims and NO ONE CALLED ME and the package just all of a sudden shows up.... I HATE this branch - truly the worst and I have filed multiple claims about their customer service and their inept ability to run as a postal office... Credit where credit is due--this place is much improved. Honestly USPS in this neighborhood still isn't great. Even though my building has a virtual doorman and a secure package room, packages often still end up at the post office. That said, there is now a super friendly and helpful greeter at this PO who directs people to the correct line and the workers are friendly and knowledgeable. I mean, it's the post office. To dispel any rumors, there is no such thing as a "quick trip to the post office." One main gripe is that if you need any supplies, like certified mail slips, return mail slips, etc, they are not stocked. Am not sure if this is due to other people just taking them by the handful, or staff negligence. However, the fact its not supplied most of the time is annoying because you need to wait in line to even get the supplies you need, get out of line, complete it and then get back in line. The post office is not a customer service industry, so we all know it sucks. I do find the staff is helpful. They take a while, but I think they do try to help once you are able to speak to them. read more

The blatant disrespect! The mailman who delivers to my building has opened up my mail and stuffed it into my mailbox. The first was in December. It was a letter from master card with one of those fake credit cards inside. The mailman tore open my mail on the right hand side wide enough to fit a finger in, where the credit card was. When they realized it was one of those fake cards they put it in my mailbox and went about their business. The second time was this month in January. Same thing different bank. This time it was s Capital One envelope they tore open on the right side corner where the fake credit card was, realized it was a fake then shoved it in my mailbox. On January 20th I just happened to be leaving my building at around 4:46pm when I saw the mailman in my lobby stuffing mail in our mail boxes. I asked are you the usual mail man? He said no I'm filling in for another worker.. (ALLEGEDLY!!) As I'm talking to him, he has a stack of mail in his hands and one of them is TORN OPEN IN THE RIGHT SIDE CORNER!! So I told him as I pulled that particular broken envelope from the stack in his hand, one of you mailmen are opening my mail and I'm going to report it! He said go right ahead. Well I was so pissed I marched myself right over to the post office and spoke to the supervisor Mr Waiter who acted as if he could care less and gave me a number to the post office police (that's what he called it) which was the wrong number to give. That was explained to me by the woman who answered the phone. She said lazy postal managers give you this number just to get you out of their face. Which is exactly how I was treated by Mr Waiter even though I told him the mailman was in my building right now as we speak with a broken envelope in his hand. In the end I called the number the post office police lady gave me, made my complaint and was told if I don't hear back from someone in 60 days reach out again. Since then I received 2 voicemails from a woman who claims to work for the post office on 146st leaving me a call back number that they NEVER ANSWER!! This post office SUCKS!! These people truely don't care. Everytime order something on Amazon and I see that a package has been shipped with USPS I get nervous. Because I know that these people are likely losing my package Seems like if the package do doesn't fit in out small mail box, it'll just disappear. They won't ring the bell, they won't even leave a slip to let us know thte package is in the post office. They'll simply set the package as DELIVERED TO RESIDENTS MAILBOX but it's nowhere to be found. I understand that there a lot of walkups in my neighborhood and it must be exausting to be runing up stairs everyday. But why can't they just knock and leave the packages in the lobby. They can at least be specific about where they leave the box ( example: left box in apt 1). They also have to realize that their laziness is making elderly people walk up & down these stairs. Those people need medication delivered. It's a health concern for them. Some of these people are handicapped. The worst part is we're forced to use USPS but noone does anything if you complain. Can't even contact the postmaster from this place. Some please do something about these crappy workers. It extremely frustrating. read more

This station is horrible! Once you get through the potentially hour long wait to the staff they are nice, but the carriers never deliver packages. They don't even leave slips! This is probably why the package pickup line is generally out the door. I have had my worst postal experiences ever here with blatant lies and laziness. I wish I could give this place 0 stars. This post office is just okay. Not horrible as some say, not stellar; the staff could use some guidance in customer service skills. They quickly helped me set up a post office box here, and I received keys immediately, with a two-day wait for actual access. However, the older woman who helped me do this sure had attitude, and was brusque and even rude. Sometimes the staff at the package pickup and retail windows confuse customers by routing them to the wrong window; the manager is not too with it either, as far as I can tell. Also, when I received a slip in my box notifying me of a package, the slip was not filled out and had no name on it -- it was blank. The female clerk was about to retrieve my package for me without verifying my identify or ownership of the box -- she just took my word what box I had, even though the slip had no identifying information. This was disturbing, Today I'm giving this PO 3 stars (A-OK), but this rating may change. Hopefully it will be for the better. read more

I try my hardest to be understanding, I know what USPS is going through due to COVID. HOWEVER, the encounter that I just had over the phone with the Delivery Supervisor (MS. GILL) was horrible. First of all let me say, there is no reason that I should feel rushed while I'm on the phone with someone trying to get information. She was rude, and kept putting me on hold. Every time I spoke I was cut off. I don't like to get an attitude with employees because I work in customer service, but her tone was demeaning/disrespectful, and she pushed me to a level I work hard on not getting to. I went here earlier for the first time. Although a bit messy, with forms gone so I had to line up to request the form I needed, this post office was nicely air-conditioned, no strange smell. Although some of the staff seemed a little abrupt the line moved fairly quickly since there were three windows open. (I don't see that often either?) By far the absolute worst Post Office I've ever had to live by / rely upon. And the carriers for this location really couldn't care less about their jobs. They purposely misdeliver mail for whole rows of houses to one mail box (I guess once they get tired?), lose packages, claim to leave notices even though they did not (our block has cameras...) and then when you have to go to the branch to find your mail or package, Lord help you. There is always a line of people, you'll discover arriving from the same buildings, because they just have not been getting their mail. The workers can never find the packages that are supposedly being held ... the level of incompetence mixed with folks who simply don't give a crap about doing their job...it's maddening. read more

This place is terrible. We order from Amazon prime a lot, and they consistently lie and say they attempt delivery minutes before the end of the promised delivery window. No door bell ring, no sticky delivery attempt notice on the door. Its like the guy runs out of time on his shift and just scans all the packages as attempted deliveries. Its not once or twice either, this happens all the time. In person I feel a bit bad because it certainly seems to be a demoralizing terrible place to work, but I've stood in line there for a long time at the package window without anyone coming to assist. I've successfully mailed stuff there, but unless I have no other option (like they are holding my package hostage after failing to delivery it to me) I'll go to another post office. It's almost like a Monty Python sketch in here. In the five years I have lived in this neighborhood, they have lost more of my packages then they have delivered. I now ALWAYS have packages shipped via UPS or FEDEX. On the rare occasion that I forget to arrange for a non-USPS delivery I end up paying for it in a pound of flesh, an hour of time, multiple trips to this soul-crushing place and high blood pressure. The excuses, the lies, the empty apologies, it just never ends. The # for the Post Office Dept of Consumer Affairs is 212-330-3667 (M-F, 9-5), you are going to need it. My last interaction with these....expletive deleted....resulted in their inability to locate my package for two weeks, but then somehow managing to locate it and return it to the sender (all without ever attempting delivery). Now, after 3 lost packages, 6 packages undelivered without a notice left, 2 two-day priority packages sent that arrived a week later, 1 standard delivery package sent that took 3 weeks and being put on hold for an HOUR (still on hold so who knows how long until I reach someone but I will not be ignored) by the rudest and incompetent worker when I wanted to check on a mis-scanned package which had no updates on the site, I'm furious. This post office is ridiculous. Sadly, it's a reflection of many if not most USPS locations in this country. I'm in an insanely long line to pick up two packages (which I'm certain they actually did NOT attempt to deliver). The line wraps around the entire room and there's only ONE employee helping this line. What I'm most upset about is that it would take simple employee input to change the arrangement of how many employee windows assist with the various reasons why patrons come in to the post office in the first place. There are THREE retail windows open for people sending things and buying stamps. And no line. Then you have 20 people in line to pick up packages with only ONE window?!?! Come on. USPS employees, speak up. I'm sure you don't enjoy dealing with us patrons, being all pissed off once we get up to the counter. Speak up and improve your daily work experience for the both of us.
