Compared to other post offices in the neighborhood, I cannot really complain too much about this location. I dropped by on an early weekday afternoon and waiting on the line for 15 minutes. Didn't USPS use to provide free packing tape for customers? Maybe that's a thing of the past. However, I purchased a $3.99 roll of tape. The worker, who was quite friendly, weighted and rang up my package, allowed me to tape it up at the packing table, and return it to her without waiting in line again. This is the worst post office I have ever entered. The place is dirty and unorganized. Don't ask any questions, just send your package and leave. Self serve service machines don't work. The Morningside staff is great. I have a PO Box at this location and they are super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly.

Got P.O. Box there and so far happy with everything! I used to go to 110 st hell gate which was pure hell, one window open and extra rude staff and missing mail. ACTUALLY attempting to deliver packages, writing the correct pickup time on pink slips, and saying more than two words to customers seem like pretty bare minimum requirements, but none of that happens here. What's more, being a post office, they close at 5 pm. Fine. Standard. But here's the rub: apparently they don't get their shit together enough to offers ANY SERVICES until at least noon, not to mention there are never more than two people working. So. If you have that brief noon-4 window available (who does though?) to sweat in line with other angry people, lucky you. Avoid at all costs. Even midtown post offices are better. Honestly reminds me of that episode of Broad City where Abby goes to the distribution center and meets Garol. It's that depressingly bleak. I get it - this place, like so many other Post Offices in this city, is severely understaffed. So I imagine that customers are not always the most patient and pleasant, and I imagine that a shift behind this counter is not the most peaceful way to pass the time. Which is why I usually try to appreciate the friendly workers here (there are a few!!), and haven't felt the need to add another negative review because like. Why bother. And stuff. Like every public service agency in Harem, this one is ran down, disorganized, filthy, under staffed, and to say it's the worst post office ever is an understatement. Side note, I've used Murray Hill station before for years and it was great, always staffed, kiosks self serve, etc. This place is a pure s**t hole from the far depths of hell. I know people of color and minorities don't matter to companies much anymore but seriously just close this post office and use it for distribution center for carriers and make everyone go to 125th St. if you cannot properly maintain this location or manage it properly. The employees here are so worthless they should be ashamed of themselves. If their chair doesn't swivel enough for their lazy fat asses to do a job, then it's not getting done. Found that there is no Yelp page for this location, so I thought I would do a public service and put one up. I have mixed feelings about the US Post Service. I think it is highly inefficient when receiving a package. They always just leave a pink slip in your mailbox and it becomes a giant chore to get your parcel (this is why I hate ordering things online). But when receiving simple letters from friends and family it is a great delight. On a good day they have a separate window just for pick up, but usually you have to wait in a long line to get anything done. So bring a book or ipod/iphone because even the simplest tasks requires a wait. Also, what gets me a little annoyed is that their hours are in between work hours 8:30am-5:30pm, so I can only go on the weekends. I had the worst experience with the staff here, in particular the lady clerk closest to the door. Absolutely HORRIBLE attitude. I usually don't write reviews to complain, but this lady was unpleasant, unhelpful, and downright rude. And I consider myself a more-than-polite person, always treating people I meet with respect and courtesy. Take your business elsewhere, even if it means paying a little more for a much better customer service experience. USPS seriously needs to reconsider how they train their staff in terms of customer service. Wish I could leave 0 stars. Like everyone else who leaves a review for this post office hub, I have the same complaints. Never actually attempt to deliver packages and then no one knows where they go. Do they stockpile all of these attempted deliveries? Because between my office and home (about 4 blocks apart) they have lost 6 packages in the last 6 months, I've filed missing packages complaints with USPS and not one has been recovered. Unacceptable and actually crazy that this problem can't be fixed. If one more of my packages goes missing I'm calling the police. I have had to start getting all of my packages delivered to my moms house in New Jersey and pick them up on a monthly basis because I can't trust the post office in Harlem. Might get a P.O. Abandon hope. Easily the worst post office I've ever visited. If I move to a new building in the same area, it will be worth spending hundreds of dollars more per month for a doorman building to avoid ever setting foot in this hellhole again. Visit # 1 to pick up a missed package for my fiancée: They had three people on duty behind the plexiglass partition, which is obviously there to keep people from reaching across the desk to get at them. Despite there being no signs or instructions on where to pick up packages, I found the right line based on the missed package notices clutched in the hands of one grim line of customers. I stood there for 25 minutes and the line did not budge. One worker took the slip of the first person in line, and just did not come back. So I left. Visit # 2 to pick up same missed package: Two people on duty this time, and after some confusion, I realized there was no designated package pickup line this day. Many other customers seemed perplexed as well upon entering. The very long line moved very slowly. I gave the workers behind the plexiglass the benefit of the doubt, and I did not engage in the complaints or berating that the other customers started. It became clear, though, that they do not even have a supervisor on duty at this location. You have to contact a different post office to get to these people's supervisor. What is a supervisor going to do from 10-15 blocks away??? Anyway, I finally get to the window, and I cheerily hand over my missed package slip and my NY driver's license. Remember, this is a package for my fiancée, but we live together and the address on my ID matches the slip. The woman behind the glass said, "This isn't you. Who is ____ _____?" I tell her who it is, and she tells me that I need her ID in order to pick up the package. This is in spite of what it says on the back of everyone's missed package card, that with proper ID you can have your package picked up by "your agent." I pointed that out to her, and she told me again that I needed my fiancée's ID. I pointed out that we lived at the same address. She didn't care. Frustrated, I asked her, "So you're saying that I need to take her ID away from her for a day in order to come here and pick up her package?" She said yes, I said, "Bullshit," and left in a huff but not before she called "Have a nice day" after me. Again, this is why they have the plexiglass. I could round up three equally unsatisfied customers from the line I waited in, and I guarantee we could run that place so much better than the booger-eating morons who work there now. But nothing will change at this post office, because in order to fix it you'd have to shut the place down for a month and fire or reassign everyone working there. My advice would be to use UPS and FedEx whenever you can, or maybe talk to your mail carrier (who are usually very nice, competent people) to make sure you never get one of the dreaded missed package slips again. read more

Sure the employees are nice but how many? Two??? They have 2 agents (3 if you are lucky) - and 6 windows (pickups window would be closed and you have to take the main line).
