I very rarely come to this USPS location and not because it is somewhat hidden but jist because I always forgot its there. Luckily, when I went it was not busy at all which was great but they were very slow with the two workers that were there. There was also a funky smell in this location. I mailed a package to be held at this location for pick up. Tracking showed that it was delivered to this branch. However, every time my daughter went to try and pick it up, she was told that they could not find it. They then told her to call USPS, which she did, and was told the same thing. I have done a search request and have tried to file a claim with no luck. I feel like there is no recourse or compensation with USPS. They make it impossible to find a package or get a refund. I do not understand how a package can show that it was delivered to this office, never picked up, but unable to located. I've never seen such bad customer service and inefficiency in my life. It's truly shocking. Customers are treated horribly here and made to wait huge amounts of time for no good reason. One cashier for the 50 person line (moving extremely slowly and chatting and wandering around), and 1 who was not trained and took 15 mins to help one man mail 1 package. And a manager pretending to push a cart around to not have to help the line. Just a total failure and lack of concern for people's time. U.S. Post Office woohoo! This is my Yorkville Branch. It's like family. You never know when the employee will be crabby or not. Once I was hollered at for taking photos. Don't dare ask for a piece of tape for your package. Hey, sounds like family. I've been coming here and none other since I stopped working. I know what day and time of day is best. I'm absolutely prepared when I get to the cashier so I have as little problems as possible. I certainly can't go without this post office location. I'd have to walk over half a mile and I'm not a fan of that branch. My advice is plan ahead. I feel for anyone going there right now. I'm sure the employees are stressed to the limit! read more

The government needs to shake up, revamp, and retrain the current personnel at the post office‼ One day it's just an ok experience the next day it's like the old days at the DMV. The people in here are generally very rude, despite my best efforts to be polite and friendly. I went in here with a package to mail Ground Advantage, a type of package which I mail probably once every 2 months and I know the general price range. The package I mailed is being paid for by a non-profit which I volunteer with so I am extra careful about how much it costs. The price quoted was about $15 dollars more than usual and so I politely mentioned that to the clerk. She said the package was more expensive due to the size of the package. I asked her what specific inch size deems it to be oversized and thus incurring an added charge (thinking I could repack it and bring it back). She didn't know (surprising since she works at the USPS, but okay....). Then I asked her what dimensions she had on my package, just to double check. This is a completely valid question considering it is my package and my money. One of her dimensions was off by an inch and I know this because this box has the dimensions written on it from the company that produced the box. When I questioned this and pointed out the dimensions written on the box, she repeated the dimensions she had and told me I could go to someone else and she "didn't have time for this". Does "this" = your JOB? I am in the post office, you are wearing a post office uniform, you are behind the counter and seem to be trying to ring me up and I assume you are being paid an hourly wage for "this" and have a pension coming paid for by United States citizens including me for "this", so as far as it seems, you are employee who is paid to do a JOB and that job is to ring up packages being mailed by United States citizens. So, YES, you actually do have time to do "this" and answer reasonable questions from people who are funding your JOB. When I left the counter, I was using the automated postal machine to mail a letter out of view and I could hear her and another miserable employee telling customers "she always comes in here with..." clearly speaking badly about me. I have never been rude to anyone here and this behavior is sad and unprofessional. It's pathetic that these employees take their own misery out on others who are simply trying to mail a package and have a nice day. I actually DID take the clerk's advice and went to the post office on 85th street and the price was exactly as I usually paid - STRANGE, RIGHT??? And BONUS - the man who helped me was actually polite! Not that hard to be nice! Clearly, my questions were not unfounded. It's no surprise the USPS is broke and UPS/FedEx are doing so much better. I ordered a package from the UK, which was shipped on a Monday, arrived in the US the Wednesday of the same week, and then spent 10 days being moved from this location to others. One of the things I love about New York City is that you are never too far from...well, anything. Case in point, after a trip to the nearby NYSC one day I was on my way to meet someone for dinner and suddenly this post office popped up in front of me. I just so happened to need a money order but I thought "Oh, it's 5:15PM, they won't be open..." but I checked anyway and lo and behold they were open til 6PM...on a Friday! Slightly amazed and happy I wandered in to get my money order. It may have been after 5PM, but it was hardly closing time at this post office. There were about ten other people in there with me doing various things. One was off to one side packing up items in free boxes, another was using one of the two stamp/self service machines by the door and yet another person was browsing the card/gift card/shipping supply shop (yes, you read that right). A few others were on line and I headed over. As I stood on line, I noticed that these folks are *really* patient. They answered customer questions slowly and clearly. One lady was helping a guy tape up boxes that clearly showed he had never packed a box in his life. There was no grumbling or attitude, the staff just did their job and pushed on forward. The bad side of this is that the line moved really slowly, but in all honesty, after a few checks of Facebook on my phone it was my turn so it was not a big deal. Check out was fast and efficient, and I noticed a bit past 5:30PM they closed up the card shop. I was really happy to find this location. read more

Absolutely awful experience with employees who don't know what to do and they're only hired because of the gvt's desire to place mouth breathers at the helms of efficiency. Machines don't work at the self-service checkout because they need a debit card not a credit card. That's not indicated. 40 minutes of a back-and-forth and I have an employee tell me that my package is 5x more expensive than the price the machine quoted because she can't properly express that I grabbed the wrong envelope in the heaping pile of a mess that is known as this post office. Manager won't manage because she's either swamped or simply likes to back her employees unprofessional attitude. We need more private institutions shipping things. This was an absolute disaster of an experience. Fun fact- the employee said I "flung a paper at her", a paper I didn't need, when in reality the paper flew from the three huge fans pointed at employees, not their customers. This place is miserable and I try to avoid it whenever possible. I can't think of an encounter I've had here with an employee working at the counter that hasn't been unpleasant, even just for buying stamps. They act as if they're annoyed to be there and they take this out on customers by treating them with disdain. I rarely get a "thank you" and in most cases you're not greeted and only spoken to when they have a question for you, and those are generally asked almost snarkily. I go out of my way to use UPS or other, more expensive options because I don't want to be treated badly. This place should either clean house and get new employees or just shut down. read more

Hands down the WORST establishment. Whenever we go in to drop off our pre-labeled packages the drop off bin is locked and the staff always have a terrible attitude and are very snappy. When we ask if they can unlock the bin or to let them know it is jammed (meaning they only have to accept the package, no actual hands on work for them) they snap at us "what do you want, get in line". When we say the packages are all labeled and just need to be accepted they get annoyed and snap "just give it to me". I can understand having a bad day, but EVERY time we go in to this post office its the same story, attitude and overall miserable atmosphere as the last time. The people who work in this post office are some of the most unpleasant people I have ever met. I recently said hello to one of them when I came up to her station after a long wait on line, and she did not respond at all, not even a grunt or a nod. This has happened more than once with this person, even when I add, "how are you?" All the workers here give you a hard time with just about any request you may have. Friendliness wouldn't matter if they were efficient, but there is always a line and the workers all move super slowly, so the line just gets longer and longer as the day wears on. A pig in lipstick is still a pig. They insist customers use the kiosk, but the kiosk is a different "inventory" so when the kiosk screws up, they have an excuse not to service the customer. Best part of it is that the reciept, which cones out/prints (after your stamps are processed) states there are no refunds or exchanges. Hats off the the ones who are behind that. And a standing ovation to the management team who supposedly care for this location. Including the supervisor at Gracie Station. (You know who you are). I have been to better usps stores but this store isn't as bad as others claim. I think the attitude of the customer and the employee will dictate how your experience will be. I only gave 3 stars because the office didn't turn on it's AC, the line for service wasn't obviously defined (should put a sign as a guide), one of the employees gave my boyfriend attitude when he wanted to ask a question but in contrast the cashier was nice, and answered all our questions, and was helpful. read more

(My delightful staffer ignored the former and silently pushed a piece of paper toward me in response to the latter.) One customer just stood at the back counter yelling "Hello? By some luck I was the second person in line. Woman at the desk called me, so I went forward. In the meantime some guy from the back, inside the inner sanctum, came up behind her with a parcel. The lady told me that they didn't have it and to come back tomorrow to get it, I went and what do you know... they still don't have it and don't know where it could be. The people who work here are quite short with you and come off rude. The worker with badge name that says "Ms. Smith" is especially surly. Don't ask her any questions because it's too much of a bother to answer them, and if she does choose to grace you with an answer, expect an eye roll to come with it. The only worker I've experienced there who was polite and charming was a younger employee, some female, thin, attractive, and just a general pleasure to go to her window.
