This post office is a vortex of incompetence and apathy. I'm constantly getting mail that's intended for other addresses, and not ones that are easy to confuse either. On the one occasion I handed back mail I received in error to one of the carriers, her only response was a blank, lifeless stare, as if she couldn't be bothered. I've had packages marked as delivered that either showed up a few days later (if I was lucky) or never (the norm). After complaining to USPS customer service, escalating the complaint, and asking that someone from the post office contact me, I've realized I'm more likely to make contact with extraterrestrial life than I am to hear from anyone there. read more

This is hands-down THE WORST post office I've ever encountered. "Delivery Attempted - Signature Required", Really? For a sub-$10 item? I declare shenanigans! I can't tell you how many packages are delivered late because of phantom "Delivery Attempted" notices - and this over the course of many years, working at two different companies at two different addresses. Every single time we've had people in the office. When we've seen the "Delivery Attempted" in the tracking, we've called to track down our package, gotten the runaround, and end up having to wait till the next day. My money is on misplaced packages and the "Delivery Attempted" update is their lazy way of skirting around their own responsibilities. This has been an ongoing issue FOR YEARS. What a joke. This isn't a PO. It's a POS. read more

Just watched our "mail carrier" throw a package at my door from 10 feet away.

I have P.O. Box here which I use to collect rent from my investment properties. I have tenants I know mail the rent in no later than the 5th. Sometimes it takes 20+ days for it to finally reach my box. I know the post marks are on time, sorting must be really slow. I have to call to complain every few months. read more

Mail Priority package to Montclair on 3/21/2018 still waiting for package to arrive to destination, check with Kearny distribution center package should be at Montclair post office, today is the 4/3/2018, still did not arrived. Call the 973-744-9187 post office for help and nobody picks up. Next time I will use other mailing means. read more

If it is possible to give them minus stars I would. I work at a business on Orange Road and the daily service is terrible. Note that it's not the routine mail person but all the others idiots that fill in for her. For the last week I have gotten mall for a completely different address. They don't come inside the business, they leave packages outside on the steps and they return mail that has the correct address on it as undeliverable. So frustrated with them. read more

If I could select zero stars, I would. This is the worst US Post Office I have ever been to. I mail packages to family in Europe often, and yesterday and clerk at the counter refused to enter my customs declaration information into the computer while I was there, saying that he would "do it later." Obviously this concerned me, as the package was not handled properly and I was not sure it would be entered into the system, lost, etc. When I called the 800 USPS customer service number today, the representative told me that the proper policy is to enter the customs information while the customer is at the counter. I called the branch to speak to the supervisor and let him know my concerns. First, he gave me an attitude and refused to tell me his first name until I told him the problem. Second, he told me that he is okay with his workers not entering customs information because the line gets too long if they do. When I explained to him that I had already spoken to customer service, he said that customer service "has no idea when they are talking about and they do not work in the post office and don't know how long the lines get." I then asked him to clarify the fact that he just told me he did not follow USPS policies in sending customs declared international packages, and he told me "If we have to follow the policy the line would be too long. Tell them to call me if they have a problem." In short, customer service at the Montclair Post Office (Glenridge Ave) is horrible, especially from the supervisor Conrad. Furthermore, they do not follow the USPS procedures in terms of sending packages. DON'T GO TO THIS POST OFFICE! read more

If i could give this post office 200 negative stars, I would. The delivery person is inept, incompetent, and should be fired. My mail goes to my neighbors and their mail comes to me at least once a week. I have tried to get a package delivered that has been reshipped twice and it has not arrived although it says delivered. I have no idea where this idiot is leaving my package but it is not in my building. The delivery person leaves parcels at our outdoor mailbox on top of the mailbox rather than leaving in the building vestibule -hello anyone want to steal or mail? i have complained and it is still the worst delivery ever. The people in this postoffice should be fired. read more

This post office is by far the worst in the neighborhood. Everytime I go there the clerks give me attitude and are not helpful at all. Whenever I go there I am always dropping off pre-paid packages and one of there employees who I am assuming is a manger or some kind, is extremely rude and condescending. Telling me its way to hard for them to scan 3 small measly packages and that I have to print out a manifest. What kind of garbage is this. Than he said he is not going to take any of my packages is I don't have a manifest. This is the only post office that I have ever gone too that I have been treated that way. I am almost certain that when I go there I am being racially profiled. All I do there is purchase stamps and send out pre-paid small packages for my side eBay business, and they fight me tooth and nail. Don't go here. Apparently its to hard for the people who work here to send mail read more

Went in on a 88 degree summer day. NO air conditioning. Only one employee at counter, so a very long line of customers waiting and roasting in this hot building. Employees must be miserable in these conditions because they are all lackadaisical. It's as if the USPS set up a post office that achieves the bare minimum necessary to be considered a functional post office. Every self-service area is unstocked every time I've been, so if you want to prepare labels/packaging/envelopes in advance, prepare to wait on line, get them from the employee, then go, complete them, then wait in line again to actually ship them. read more

Just received a party invitation today (3/18) postmarked 2/21. Granted, this isn't a life or death issue...but really...almost a month to receive a first class mailing?? After reading the complaints on this site, I decided a call to the post office might be a waste of time. We have lived in town over 30 years and for the first 29 I can probably count on one hand the days we didn't receive mail. Now we get delivery 2-3 days a week...not even any junk mail the other days. Something is very strange... read more

This must be one of the mostly poorly run post offices in New Jersey. No matter what time of day you go in, the line is incredibly long. Usually there is only one person helping customers. The postmaster of this branch just doesn't care at all. read more

i frequent this location a great deal .its conveintly located not far from where i live . with the recent closing of pathmark ill be getting my stamps here on a regular basis. whenever ive been here , the staff has always been very professional and went out of their way to accommedate all my needs , which basically only needing a book of stamps. i only wish they'd have earlier opening hours as newark post offices do as they open at 10 am and it gets hecktic especially on saturdays!if i need to go i try to get there early , but i have no complaints as ive always been treated very fairly here. hope they never leave .regina beasley, montclair nj read more

This is a horrible post office. They handle my home delivery. At least once a week I get someone else's mail delivered to my house. This week I got someone else's court summons. I wonder how much of my mail goes to other addresses. I schedule Priority Mail pickups and they never pick up anything, but they do send an email saying that the packages have been picked up. I guess the pickup guy just lies and checks off that he made his rounds. I have seen a mail truck hit a street sign with their truck twice (I live on a dead-end road and they turn around). I was almost hit by a USPS truck - the driver turned down my quiet dead-end road going about 40 miles an hour and almost hit me while I was crossing the street. I spoke to Conrad (Conright?) twice today. The first time he immediately put me on hold after I told him I was calling about a scheduled pickup. I then called him from my mobile phone and he picked up and was not helpful at all. He claimed that the only person that could help was not there. I have been told the same thing every time I call. read more

Worst post office ever!!!!! My roommate was waiting on a package to come. First they said that it couldn't be delivered,bc they didn't put the apt number on the computer, or so they say. Then they delivered it to the wrong address bc someone at our new address had the same last name as her. Then they blamed her for the old people living here and having them same last name. Then the person who delivers the package argues with my roommate about her ever getting packages to our address. The postal carrier was rude as though my roommate and her family were in the wrong. Mind you she had been waiting for her pack for over a week and her family paid for it to be sent overnight. He family even called many times to have it redelivered. Crazy!! They don't pick up the phone. I mean who knows where my mail is going, if her package can be sent to the wrong address, bc she had the same last name as the old tenants. Crazy. They need to hire new people or something. Bc me personally I get everyone else's mail but my own and that daily. read more

I did a change of address over 8 months ago, so you would think any mail going to my old address would automatically be forwarded by now...Wrong! A friend who I hadn't spoken to in over a year sent me a birthday day, the end of October, then she sent another card a week later which was the first week of November. A few weeks ago she contacted me because I had not called to thank her. So about 3 weeks ago I began calling the Montclair Post Office to inquire about this. The supervisor, Deena advised me that she spoke to the mail carrier and he was aware that I moved, so he knows my mail gets forwarded. I called again to see if a different carrier may have unknowingly delivered to that old address. I was told the regular mail carrier was making delivered so that was not possible. I called several times again and this morning (12/3) I spoke with the supervisor Deena again who said it was impossible for my mail to get delivered there because I don't live there and it would go directly to forwarding. I asked for a number for the forwarding office and she said there was not a number, they only email. She kept saying can I prove the mail was not forwarded, just because I never got it. How insane. So, after I got to work I received a call from my old landlord advising me that a pile of mail has been sitting in the hallway on the floor of my old apartment. But how can that be when the Post Office in Montclair would not investigate it because Deena said it would be impossible to get delivered there because I no longer live there. Wow...really? All this time I've been calling the Montclair Post Office, my mail was sitting in the hallway on the floor of my previous apartment! All the mail carrier had to do when I first called was to check, ring the tenants bell and ask? They are not helpful, and are the worst ever!! I will be filing a complaint with top person at that office. If they cannot be responsible with people's mail, they should NOT be working there!! read more
