Off Hull Street, this is a pretty busy Post Office, so expect a wait! It's more modern and quite large so it certainly doesn't have the charm of those smaller, more personal mailing facilities. Although there are several windows along the counter, there's seldom more than two open. I came to drop off a package, and was thrilled that I was able to use the self serve kiosk, because the customer line was ridiculously long! (But to be fair, it was around the holidays!) These poor postal employees get a bad rap... yes, the line moves slow... but they seemed just as stressed as the folks in line. The struggle is real... but I still say these essential workers are heroes! Personally, I'd rather drive to a less busy post office, with a more quaint feel and do my mailing business elsewhere, but I was in the area and felt like my experience here was rather commonplace! read more

I was standing inline at the self service kiosk when one of the workers brought two other customers over. She hurried the customer ahead of me and got her off the kiosk and put one of the people she brought over on it. She then asked me if I was trying to mail a package and snatched it from me. Looked it over and had me fill out a label saying I didn't have one despite there already being a label. One of the customers apologized and i said it was fine and that I didn't appreciate the workers attitude despite me being ready. The workers got an attitude with me and said I wasn't ready. There's a reason I prefer the kiosk versus dealing with the attitudes of the people that work at this location. I would love to call and complain to a supervisor, but there's only an 800 number that doesn't give you the option to talk to a human. read more

It's such a great breath of fresh air to come in contact with genuinely concerned associates, and Anna Stevens and Carrier 42 are amazing! My daughter is 3 months pregnant, living in New Jersey and her package was sent to my address; this package is important because it has items to celebrate my twin granddaughters birthday next week, when they turn 1! Anna and Carrier 42 are making it possible for them to get this package because it's being delivered to me today! My daughter and son will have this box next week! This is the worst post office in the Richmond metro area. I'll drive an extra 5 minutes down the road to use the Millridge location to avoid the attitude at this location. This place makes the DMV look like friendly hostesses. Two years ago, I had to pick up a package from the UK. I got to the location at 8:05. I walked up to the parcel window and rang the buzzer. Nothing happened. After a good 10 minutes of waiting, I finally gave up on the parcel window and went into the regular line. A few minutes later, another customer came up to the parcel window and rang the buzzer. I informed him that, apparently, the parcel window isn't open today, so you'll have to stand in the regular line. One of the workers at the counter corrected me, "You have to wait at the parcel window." So, I go back to the parcel window and wait. Another five minutes goes by. The other customer rings the buzzer yet a third time. Finally, a worker opens up the window in silence. I swear, it could have been Lurch from the Adam's Family with as much expression as this guy had. The worker went to take the yellow ticket from the other customer before me, but he informed them that I was first. He then huffed really loud and barked," I need both tickets." Another 5 minutes goes by, and surprisingly I received my package without any additional grief. Another yelper said that they copped an attitude with someone who came in 10 minutes before closing. I can attest for that being an accuracy. I've come in 10 minutes before closing with a package that just needed to be dropped off. They yelled at me as soon as I walked through the door that they were closing. Um... my package already had postage. I was literally just dropping it off. They reluctantly accepted the package. For love of all things on earth, don't even try to get a price on shipping a package. If you ask for the price, they will tell you to go to the self-serve machine. They don't give you prices on shipping. Don't ask any questions. You are not allowed to ask questions. What sparked my desire to leave a review today was how my package was delivered yesterday, or rather still hasn't been delivered. I had a tracking number for a package coming from California earlier this week. The estimated delivery was for Friday (yesterday) by 8:00 pm. Well, 8:00 pm came and went. I still wasn't sure if they package was coming or not. I've had packages delivered after I've already gone to bed a few times (scaring the life out of me) when I heard someone on my porch. I checked the tracking information again. Yesterday at 11:52, it "went out for delivery." No delivery. Today, at 3:03 PM, it "arrived at post office." So, basically, they loaded my medical equipment onto a postal vehicle yesterday, drove around with it for a few hours, and returned it to the post office this afternoon undelivered. Since today is Saturday, I won't be receiving it before Monday afternoon at the earliest. I get that something can delay a delivery, but why the heck did they put it on a truck for 27 hours, drive it around, and never deliver it? I guess it could be worse. Three weeks ago, I got an email saying that a package from eBay had been delivered to my front porch WHILE I was standing in my front yard with my dog. I looked at every neighbor's porch to see where they had mistakenly delivered it. Finally, I went back inside and messaged the eBay seller saying that I needed some help on his end. Fifteen minutes later, a random non-government vehicle shows up with a dude delivering my package. He said he scanned it when he left the post office instead of when he delivered it. I think the guy was just dropping it off after he had clocked out of work for some reason. Something seems like it has to be violating some sort of USPS policy here. Anyway, avoid this location. Go to the teeny tiny Millridge (Brandermill) location instead. It's smaller and has fewer hours, but the two ladies who work at that location don't act like jerks. read more

The employees are okay but they don't care that people come into a federal building reeking of the odor of marijuana. Not sure what kind of security they have if any but it's pretty horrible that customers have to deal with getting a contact high while they are waiting in line for slow workers. Also they don't keep up with the mail it seems. I got a notice to come in and pick up my package and the lady could not find it then shooed me away like some fly or something for the next customer and told me the delivery guy would be there soon. This post office is set back behind some trees on the corner of Genito and Hull street so they have entrances on both Genito and Hull. It's one of those bright shiny new post offices. It has letter drop boxes out front but no automated stations or drop boxes. A decent number of mailing supplies that are generally always full. I haven't figured out their pattern yet. Sometimes they're packed busy and sometimes they're nearly empty. It seems to have no rhyme or reason. This is the only post office I have ever been scolded at. Apparently I've been printing up my prepaid mailers and affixing them wrong for years. Nobody has ever mentioned or said anything to me before but this lady downright snapped at me. They're open on Saturday though, so that gets them some points. read more

I appreciate that you state businesses care why your dissatisfied with their service but I can assure you that the Genito postal office does not. I am escalating my complaints to the Federal government's OIG & am hoping I can get more dissatisfied residents who depend on this post office for their mail & deliveries to do the same. The service as well as the treatment of their customers is apprehensive if not illegal. Examples: a threatening post-it note left by mail carrier on my door stating, " they are holding all my packages until a package that postal worker incorrectly left at my house was returned." ??!!? When I called Genito post office to complain, I was talked over; reprimanded; not allowed to finish a sentence & then hung up on by the facilities manager. That is only 1 example of the multitudes of irregularities; in-discrepancies; unprofessionalism as well as financial losses that I & the rest of this community have had to endure for years due this post office & it's employees. Tried calling the Post Office was disconnected hung up on and other times I called no one answered the phone. Employees need to be retained on customer service and how to read address correctly! The mail carriers at this USPS office are idiots. Our new neighborhood unfortunately has central mail boxes for all residences with separate package boxes. The mail carrier can't seem to get the packages in boxes and put the keys in the right mail box, so the packages end up going to the wrong address! read more

I know others have disagreed, but I have always received outstanding service here. Kendra is awesome! She is professional, she is sweet and has gone out of her way to help me. Sometimes the line is long, but they always seem to be moving people as quickly as possible and are always polite. Today, I knew when I walked in at 5:03 that I was day late and a dollar short. They had just finished with the last customer but assisted me anyway when they would have been well within their rights to finish closing up and go home. read more

I have lived in 4 states and this is by far the worst post office I've ever been to. Employees are rude and service is very slow. If you have to pick up a package or held mail be prepared to wait forever and to have the employees act as though they are put out that they have to do their job and help you. We've also had nothing but issues with our mail service. We are constantly getting others mail & they are getting ours. It is honestly shocking how bad it is. read more

They are slow, slow, slow here. They move like zombies. They don't want to strain themselves. They're afraid they might strain a pinky. It's simply maddening to watch them work. There could be a line out the door before they'll finally look up and call Worker #2 up to the counter. There's one much older female postal worker who owns ONE expression and absolutely refuses to smile. I don't think she can. She will not strain herself one iota. She deliberately moves in slow motion. She has a really bad attitude every day she works there to boot, and she gets away with it. She badly needs to retire and just go hang with her cat. These people just give you the impression that they just don't want to be at their job and they do the absolute MINIMAL FOR A PAYCHECK. read more

Worst post office ever! During a pandemic, these employees could care less about customer safety or service. They are rude, have bad attitudes, and are completely disorganized when it comes to guiding customers to follow the 6' social distancing rules that's clearly posted in the lobby. They are only counting the people who are standing in line as the "under 10 customers at a time in the lobby", but keep allowing 10 more customers in that are "just dropping off a package, going to their po box, or wanting to use a kiosk. Ummmmm, Governor Northum's social distancing rule states "10 people in one place at time". Twice I've been there in the last couple weeks and there are 15-20 people at a time in there, not including the employees. If you try to ask them to not allow so many people in at once, you get a black employee with red dreads come within 1 foot of your face and yell "you don't work here and I can let whoever I want in!" Obviously dumber than a box of rocks, rude, can't count and should never be allowed to work around the public. I waited in line for more than 30 minutes before I just left without mailing my package. Everyone's safety was at risk. I hate to imagine how many people contract COVID19 from this post office because the employees don't care! Even one of their own long-time employees told me that location was so horrible, they had to transfer to another post office. This is why the post office is going under. So when the employees that work there lose their jobs bc this place gets shut down, it will be your own fault. Customers don't keep coming back to places where they are treated badly. #1 rule of keeping a business open with customers coming back....good customer service. Came in to mail one priority envelope. Waited in line for maybe 5 minutes and listened to the associate get short and not very nice to the lady in front of me when she was at the counter looking for a particular stamp to buy. She then left without a purchase and the same associate yells "Um!?" at me and waves for me to come forward. I found that rude, as I was paying attention and he was wearing black sunglasses so I couldn't see his eyes. A nice "next customer" would have done fine. It was weird he wore sunglasses inside. I found that real odd and unprofessional. His name tag was a label maker on top of someone else's name tag that read "Deuce". He wasn't very friendly. Nothing exceptionally horrible happened, but my transaction was very quick and simple, so I would've expected some customer service that was atleast pleasant. He wasn't at all. read more

I moved back to the Midlothian area and needed a set of keys for my mailbox (apparently I need to get the keys and lock from the USPS) after paying my $22 fee to get this done they told me it would be done the following Tuesday (this was the Tuesday after Labor day) apparently they only change the locks every Tuesday (Why? It's the USPS smh) well they had told me they would call after it was done. I waited til the following Wednesday and hadn't received a call. I figured I'd call them and when I did I was told again they'd call after it was done. Something in my gut told me to go to the office and check just to make sure they hadn't done it and forgot to call. I get town to the office and low and behold my keys are there,after I was told they'd call me!!! I head back to my apartment to try the key and it doesn't fit my box. Well now it's closed so I call the next day and speak to someone about it. I call and they guy says hold on a sec let me check 20 mins later I hang up and call back the same guy who told me to hold thought he transferred me to someone I told him no dude you told me to hold. H3 takes my information down and says he'll call me in 20 mins,5 hours later I had to call back to findout what happened. Apparently they gave me the wrong keys so I headed back there and got what I thought was my key only to get back and findout these new keys didn't fit neither,at this point I was furious. To save you guys the boredom it took 2 more trips to this post office and a Manger to physically come out and hand me the keys to my mailbox. It took 3 weeks so be ready if you need.to get keys made by the specific post office. They got 3 stars because of the Manger who was a great help through this ordeal read more

This has to be the worst post office I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. I wanted to send a small box back to China with some cabinet hardware, in the original box. First, I was chastised for not removing the original stickers (I thought they would be covered with the customs label). Then I was told the box was too small for the customs paperwork. I was given the option to go home and find a larger box or purchase one from them. Since I live in Short Pump, I decided to purchase one from them. After placing the smaller box inside, he tells me to tape it shut. The only tape on the counter is their Priority tape, which I used. Now the price of my 3lb 10oz box went from $52.75 to $64.00 simply because I used the priority tape! I asked if they had regular tape? He points to the back where the boxes are located and tells me, "on the blue wall." I walked back, expecting to find a roll of tape to use. Then I saw the tape dispensers on the wall for sale. When I asked him if I had to purchase one he replied, "yep." I walked out with my box! I went to my local post office today and I was told the customs label he gave me was a large label. There was no need for me to place the items in a larger box, they have small customs labels! The clerk today was helpful, kind, and used clear tape to affix my customs label without a charge or an ATTITUDE! read more

after waiting in line (15+ min) watching Trudy be rude to every person that walked up with a smile and away with a frown, I was next! After complaining, huffing and puffing the rather large lazy Trudy gave me my total ($13.60). When I went to run my visa card she told me I had to show her my signed credit card. I said my card says "see id" and here is my valid VA drivers license. After backing up shaking her head in disgust she told me this was NOT ACCEPTABLE! She called her - not so intelligent manager over. He finally came to the counter and could even read my name on the card or license! Then he said - ohhh yeah I see it now. Now, keep in mind here... There are 11+ people in line and only 2 people working at 1:15 in the afternoon on a Monday. I told her she was a poor excuse for a postal employee! I told her to give me my package back, seems like my concerns were valid since it took her 5+ min to find my package! The package was for my daughter on a military base in the states. God help our troops and getting their packages... damn shame! I will go to MY post office - they are very nice there!! read more
