I have some pretty low expectations of people in general but Jesus Christ. The person helping me faked an entire phone conversation pretending to be on the phone with the mail carrier who was on my route today to see if he happened to have my lost package or not. Her phone case was a maroon wrap around wallet where it clasps over the phone. Post office lost my package so when I went there to ask about it, the woman behind the desk said "hm I understand let me call the guy that delivered your route today" and picked up her phone that had a wallet encased over it and immediately faked a phone call with him with the case closed, screen off, and faked an entire phone call with him just to say "oh he doesn't seem to have it, leave us your phone number and name and we will get back to you." I mailed a return receipt letter to my medical provider from Seattle to Kirkland (about 20 miles driving distance). I needed the letter to arrive ASAP. This post office attempted delivery on the day the provider's office was closed, and put the letter aside somewhere. In a couple of weeks, I learned from my provider that the letter never arrived and filed a complaint with the USPS. The post office found the letter, delivered it to the provider two + weeks after they received the letter, and proudly called me to report that. They refused to refund me because they genuinely believed that they did their job. I was not able to reach them by phone, they kept leaving voicemail messages to me but they were not picking up the phone. If you need any letter to reach Kirkland, just drive there or use UPS, FedEx, or mail pigeons. read more

They never pick up the phone and they will hold packages without letting you know they need to be picked up or updating the status of the package. I had called another location and their contractor picked up letting me know I have to repeatedly call until someone picks up... that is ABSURD?? They have an extremely long intro message you also have to listen to before your call is even transferred...? I have called 10 times with no pick up. So insane how they have such a low rating and still don't invest in improving their customer service. They just randomly stopped delivering my mail one day for over 2 weeks! I went down to check where my mail was. Lines were 20 minute wait times. Took another 5 to locate my mail. The biggest challenge with this post office is there package drop off container on the inside wall. The handle is often stuck because there are to many packages or one is jammed inside the chute. Even at times when they are closed and you can see inside through the handle slot that there are many employees in the back no one pushes packages out of the way to allow more to be placed inside. They don't respond to knocks on the door to ask for help (with moving packages). It is sad that it is one of those areas where it is not my job for them vs they are representing the entire post office regardless of their title. read more

4/11/16 Horrible customer service. Tracking number shows my package is delivered. Instead of the package, there was a pink paper with yesterday's date and my unit number in my mail box. Since deliver man chose not to write any comment or nothing, I have NO idea where my package is. I called them and asked them where is my package and if they will re-deliver my package. I've been to this post office dozens of times when shipping things off. The clerks are friendly, don't get irritated by me bringing in a shipload of packages to send, and joke around with me. There's plenty of room inside to use the self-service machines when the office is closed. The parking lot is gigantic. read more

COVID-Era review: If you don't absolutely have to come here.... DON'T COME HERE! Even under normal circumstances, this post office has a particular charm.... rude staff, line out the door and looonnnngg waits, poor lighting, not enough windows open, and there always seems to be at least 1 person with a problem no one in the building can solve. Now add to the fact: poor ventilation and air circulation. Perplexing markers to 'mark' 6 ft distances that were all clearly at different lengths. I went to this location before they opened at 10 a.m. on Saturday and there were about four people already standing in line. They opened the door at 10:01 a.m. My wait wasn't too long but the line grew rapidly with about 25 people behind me. There were only two counters open which is baffling but they worked quickly. It's challenging to ascertain when non-peak hours are for counter service. For example, I have been here on a Friday at about 12:20 p.m. and the line was very short. They do have a self-service machine in the lobby for simple transactions and stamp purchases which helps. They also have a sign on the counter inside that says "Pre-Paid Packages Here." The one at Mill Creek did not have this so some people stand in line just to drop off pre-paid packages which makes it worse for everyone else standing behind them. Kirkland Post Office does it right for this one. Thus the additional star. read more

Things have changed for the better. I had a package delivered to the wrong address, and it was fixed! I filled out the forms with tracking numbers etc. The forms now give an option for a call. I was stunned that a manager called me and told me that he had the courier get my misdelivered package and deliver it correctly. The manager I spoke with was courteous and asked he me to please check my mailbox. I checked and it was there! I don't know how they were able to get it back from the wrong address, but I am so happy they did. The manager called me back to see if I received the package. Lines can be a wee bit long, best time to come in is right when they open or close. Parking can be tricky with the way East siders act and park. And you never want to go in during the major holidays. I have a love/hate relationship with this post office. But, during my last visit it was a regular Monday and the parking lot was packed, the line was out the door and the inside package chute was full. Im used to this on Sunday evening but this was a Monday afternoon. Also, its hit or miss with drop off times and the package being scanned timely. I make a lot of priority mailings and its an act of congress to get additional mailers if the stock has run out by an employee. Post offices seem to be a type of place that gets no love on Yelp. Some deserve low ratings, like the crumbling PO just north of Bellevue Square. But this place is pretty darn good. Our main business here is keeping watch over a PO box owned by a nonprofit. For that reason, the customer service guy who oversees PO boxes deserves special praise. He went out of his way to contact the leaders of the nonprofit when the mailbox bill ran past due, but alas, he still couldn't reach them. When the leaders finally sorted out the problem, he and his colleagues worked hard to get the keys to the new box to my wife. We had quite a load of stuff in the new box when it went active. On our second check of the new box, my wife and I realized that we had lost the slip of paper with the box number. We could have tested the key in the entire top row of that section of the boxes, but the PO box overseer spared us the trouble by writing it down again. We were impressed that no one laughed at us for forgetting the box number. Maybe it happens all the time. Although we're mostly there checking the box during off hours, we use the regular services now and then. Everyone we've dealt with has been friendly and efficient. The lines aren't as short as at a regular business, but then regular businesses don't answer to Congress. This place generally seems faster than most, and usually has about the right number of counters open for the number of customers. This is one of the best post offices. read more

Worst USPS office ever. They are incredibly rude and unhelpful. Unfortunately I had to deal with them several times because this one is my default USPS whenever I have mail trouble. One time they forced me to pay $7 because they had to redeliver a package to my new address because the package was OVER a month late --so late that my forward address is no longer valid. when I challenged them, the clerk just shrugged, "not my problem. Pay if you want the package." Another time they totally messed up a certified mail by delivering it without the recipient signature (I paid extra for confirmed signature from recipient). This was critical so I can prove the court notice is served. Once again, they refused to even try to redeliver. I can't name any instance where the clerk here is at least courteous. Avoid this USPS office at all cost! Go to the USPS office at Bartell Drug's Bridal Trail store. Folks there are MUCH friendlier and helpful. read more

I subscribed to Informed Delivery, so I can see that, yet again, the post office says my package was delivered to my locked mailbox yesterday, but it's not there. We have a USPS mailbox located here for business purposes, and always have an easy time accessing it, and usually find the place very clean and with plenty of easy parking available. While I rarely utilise the outgoing mailing services here, whenever I have, lines have been long and not good. I've pretty much had it with this post office. They are INEPT with my package deliveries. I have lived at the same apartment for 2 years and have had 3 very expensive deliveries misdelivered. One time they sent a package back the sender as undeliverable because the substitute mailman didnt recognize my name (even though my name is on the mailbox). They need to fix this shit already. This had never happened to me so many times at one address. Ugh!!!!! I'm clearly not the only one with misdelivered mail if you read though the comments here. I've complained to the supervisor there before and he was unapologetic and never followed up. Im going to elevate it above this time. Something is seriously wrong with this particular location. Update: i sent a written letter and left two messages for the Kirkland Postmaster. No response. Why aren't post offices held accountable for shit service? *Update 1/12/17* I've been to quite a few post offices in the past month, as I need to send out lots of important packages and documents to Canada. Of all the sites on the eastside, this is my favorite one. The parking lot is spacious and easy to navigate. Whenever I've been here, there's not been a long line, and the folks who are in line there always seem to keep moving. There has always been ample coverage at the counter (yesterday, when I was there, there were FIVE counter clerks working. This was early afternoon, what I'd consider an off-time. I was able to be in and out of the post office within five minutes). The counter clerk who helped me (Hector) was great. Best of all, they won't gouge you here, price-wise. (See my updated review of the Bellevue post office. In a nutshell, Bellevue charged me $41 to mail out an item, whereas this Kirkland site charged me $13 to mail the identical item to the same address). If you need a trustworthy and efficient post office on the eastside, stick to this Kirkland site, or the Issaquah site. The others in Bellevue or Redmond are either not trustworthy or helpful or properly staffed. FYI. read more

Absolutely terrible. The supervisor, Erik Anderson, is a complete jerk. I have been having mail mis delivered since April of this year. I contacted their supervisor and nicely let him know of the situation. He said this is really not possible but that he would do everything he could to resolve the situation and contact me again with some feedback and resolution. Of course he never contacted me again. About a month ago I again had mail mis-delivered to my neighbors. This included my federal tax refund, my mortgage statement, and several bills with personal information on them. I was fed up and called Erik Anderson again at the post office. He was an absolute jerk, told me I was wasting his time, and basically to piss off. How this guy is not fired yet is beyond me. Just now my wife and I have been told that our BECU debit cards should have arrived 3 weeks ago and BECU suspects mail fraud or mis delivery. Great job, Kirkland post office. WOW. I've been to many post offices, but I've NEVER experienced a post office as bad as the one in downtown Kirkland. You would think a pleasant, upscale little city like Kirkland would have a nice, efficient post office, but your thinking would be WRONG in that case. The post office is small, dismal, poorly lit, and eerily quiet even though it always has a LONG line of weary customers. Why is it so quiet, you ask? Because there is never anyone at the front desk, which leaves the customers to stare silently at the floor, eyes welling up with tears of frustration. Music anyone??? So where are the employees who should be at the desk? Good question. Every time I go there they seem to have only two nice enough but completely overwhelmed employees working the counter, and they spend most of their time in the back looking for lost packages... and there are ALWAYS lost packages. Let's say you go to pick something up there that they couldn't deliver to your house without a signature; well, they will give you many confused looks while they examine the card you hand them, question you about your address, and then spend an inordinate amount of time looking in the back before coming to tell you they couldn't find your package, or finally emerging with the damaged item. I imagine that their mail sorting room must look something like a church rummage sale the morning after. Please don't try to come here with children. They will lose their s*** in the long line, and then you will surely lose your s*** for sure. Happened to me. True story. POST OFFICE FROM HELL. read more

I haven't been to the KIRKLAND post office for a long time. However, I was pleasantly surprised at just how helpful they were with something that seems like it would've been not important to them. They showed me how I could do things in the app at home rather than having to make a trip to the post office just to be able to pay for postage. The only reason I have to come to this post office is because of work. I have a lot of gripes: - Mail that doesn't belong in our PO Box is constantly getting put in, including mail for an *attorney*. I'm going to guess that's the last thing you want is slipping other people mail that is probably extremely time-sensitive and confidential. - 8.5 times out of 10 the line is long and there's only two or three people working the counter when I know that at least four can. I've seen less employees in this large, very busy post office than I have at really tiny, obscure post offices. In the middle of the day. Don't get me wrong, most of the counter people are nice but they move at the speed of snails and whoever is sorting isn't paying well enough attention. - Another huge irritant? We have two POs. One main one, and another for overflow. WHY do they always shove as much as they can with huge envelopes so it's exploding when I open it and the overflow is empty? - Lastly, every once in a while all the recycle bins and garbage cans will get overflowed and there will be paper and garbage everywhere. It's always dark and cold in the PO Box area so when this happens you feel like you're in a scuzzy place, not dt Kirkland. All of this just makes everyone here appear lazy. But at the end of the day I suppose it's just a post office, and customer service probably isn't their goal. read more

This is a miserable post office. I (unfortunately) have to use it often as it is near my work, but I really try to use any other location whenever possible. I don't mean the staff is necessary poor with their customer service. They are pleasant enough, but I have never seen so little HUSTLE in my entire life. They just mosey, they don't move like they are at a job. When moving from place to place they are slow. When carrying a box to the back they are slow. When punching things into the register they are slow. Always slow. You'd think they would get a clue when a line starts to build (which is always, of course) that it's time to kick it up a gear or two, but they still move, talk, and operate just as evenly slow as before. On top of the overall slowness, they are almost always understaffed with only 2 people at the registers. When a 3rd wanders out of the back (slowly) and you start to think the line might get moving a bit, you realize they are only there to replace someone else and you get a big, fat, "CLOSED" sign on one of the other tellers. It's just unreal. I know a post office isn't supposed to be a shining beacon of cheer, but SOME effort in moving faster than a snail would at least show some respect to the massive line of people that are probably taking time off of work to mail something. If we shift the blame a bit, the customers are also rude as hell. Because the layout is so bad, people are constantly saying "To hell with the line, I'm just going to stick my nose into the teller's face and ask my question immediately". This always results in the teller looking frazzled and distracted needing to ask help from someone in the back. And of course...they walk to the back to get that help...SLOWLY. read more

Overall friendly staff and fast service compared to most us post offices. They are a little short staffed with a wait at times, but still try to accommodate you as best as they can. If I could give them 0 stars I would! I've been trying to call them for 30 minutes now and it just rings and rings and no one answers, no recording and then I get hung up on. We had a package that was suppose to be delivered two weeks ago - the sender accidentally forgot to put the apartment number on the package; however the post man NEVER brings packages to our actual apartment. They just leave them at the main office. Well the mail man must have rolled out of bed on the wrong side this day because he just decided since it didn't have an apartment number that ehh.. we are just going to immediately return it to the sender. So away it went when we desperately needed it for a birthday party that weekend. I called the post office to try to intercept and the first person I spoke to did NOTHING to help me when the package was probably sitting in the office.. Thankfully the second person Roseline attempted to help me but it was too late. I have to say I'm thankful that since then we have moved and will no longer need to deal with this post office after we get this last package.. which seems like it will never happen.. read more

Terrible customer service. Each time I have gone to this USPS, the lady tellers have been rude and unpleasantly dismissive. As I stood in line I watched them being blunt and contemptuously curt to customer after customer including myself when it was my turn to be offended by the staff. When I checked the screen before I paid there were items I never bought. When I asked for clarification, she said "never mind, just look at the total, that's all that matters". A lady beside me was challenging the same obscure charges at the same moment as me, her teller's response was identical to my teller. This customer and I made eye contact acknowledging utter disbelief. It seems they have disdain for the customers they are serving. I only go to this USPS office when I absolutely must. I went in to sort out the bungled mail "On Hold" problem this morning. It took me 15 minutes in line to be able to talk to someone to request a supervisor to talk to. It took at least another 10 minutes for a supervisor to show up. It took another 10 minutes for her to round up my missing mail. She explained that the problem was that my regular mail carrier was on vacation, so the mail wasn't actually being held. Apparently, I need to coordinate my vacations with my mail carrier's vacations so we don't overlap. It looks like none of my "regular" mail was held. It looks like my "oversize" mail (parcels, magazines) were being held. = Two parcels that had tracking numbers and showed as being "Out for delivery" since October 22nd had never actually left the Post Office. They were there on November 3rd. = One parcel that had tracking numbers and showed as being "Delivered" since October 25nd had never actually left the Post Office. It was there on November 3rd. USPS is almost an advertisement for UPS and FedEx. Ironically, we got an email advising us that the hold on our mail was about to expire. Meanwhile the Post Office: FAILED to hold most of our mail. FAILED to deliver the few pieces of mail that were held, when the hold expired FAILED to provide correct status for tracked items. FAILED provide a reasonable customer experience at their location. One guy goes on vacation and the whole place crumbles. read more

This is a corrupt Post Office branch. They charge their customers additional postage because they can't read the US Postal rules and follow them. So after a letter has been post marked in another state they indicate to the delivery address that additional postage is required. It's against postal regulations to charge more when it's been postmarked from the sending state. The only time they are allowed to ask for additional postage is when it's self meter mail from some one's home or business because they are attempting to cheat. They have a new Post Master in charge and hopefully he will correct the issues and bring them inline with postal regulations and refresher courses. read more
