Very mixed feelings about this post office. How do you come up with a fair rating for a combination of amazing, helpful phone service and appalling delivery service? To start with the bad, I sent my son a time sensitive package with DHL. When DHL decided that a redelivery attempt was too much trouble, they turned the package over to the Post Office. I received an email that the package was "undeliverable" (this after a delivery attempt had been made and a door tag left). Turns out that the DHL printed label was incomplete, it had the right street name and number and had the apartment number but not the letters. An issue yes but making the package undeliverable --no! First of all, someone (first DHL driver?) had written the apartment letters on the package. Second, I don't think USPS even went to the building. There is a package desk in the lobby that could have taken the package or directed the driver to the right apartment. Luckily my son has a car so getting 5 miles from Collegetown to the Warren Rd location by the airport wasn't a big deal. But it is more than 30 minutes by bus, each way. Now for the very good. Bill, who answered the phone, was the friendliest post office employee I've ever spoken to. He was helpful, considerate and responsive. He found the package right away and placed it at the front desk for my son to collect. read more

Greetings from the opaqueness. It's time again for yet another scathing review of one of my favorite targets - the United States Post Office. Went to mail a couple letters at the outside mailbox on Saturday afternoon. The box was jammed full right to the brim where letters were almost coming out the in slot. I've seen this happen before at the Lansing Post Office. While I consider this to be unforgivable for a Post Office, I guess it happens. So I went back Sunday afternoon and the mail box was STILL filled to the brim. You gotta be kidding me. As it states on the outside of that specific mailbox, it's supposed to be emptied TWICE on Saturdays. You could have reached in and grabbed other people's mail, if you felt so inclined. I've had many issues with this certain post office but this is beyond the pale. I don't care if somebody called in sick or whatever, the post master or a supervisor should realize the Christmas rush is upon us. This is unacceptable. The Ithaca Post Office has to do better. read more

My urgent, Priority Express envelope was delivered to this post office from California before noon on Friday, May 31. It was not delivered that day because in 6 hours the post office did not have time to make the delivery (two blocks from the N Tioga St post office.) It is now 3 days later, late Monday afternoon, and both the post office and the addressee close in a half hour, and my envelope is still not delivered. Not a competent operation. I am left with my anxiety for another day. Grrrr! Next time it matters to me, I'll use FedEx. read more

Went in with a passport appointment. I was seen promptly. The man helping me was friendly and helpful. I was in and out in 15 minutes as promised. While there, I shipped a package and bought stamps with only 30 seconds of waiting in line. It was a fabulous experience. read more

Their service is generally very quick and knowledgeable. They're friendly even upon opening. I love the 24/7 hours and the kiosk for mailing... When it works. 3/4 of the last time I've been in to buy stamps, the kiosk had been down door technical difficulties. I suspect it's out of paper, and that is easily fixable and preventable if they check before closing for the weekend or evening. Then it's really frustrating that you planned on having access, but what can you do? I've had a lost package and they called a "supervisor" to look into it for me, but all she did was read the tracking info back to me. Not very helpful or having suggestions for me. read more

I have always had my packages left at my door and now, for some strange reason, they are attempting to deliver my packages and they end up taking them to the post office to pick up. Why is this a problem now when they ALWAYS delivered my packages and left them by the door. I'm in a wheelchair and can't go to the post office to get them and there is no way to contact them other than the 800 number which I was on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes but had to hang up. I am so upset because I don't know what to do. read more

Tried to pick up a package a relative had sent me that ended up with $2.47 "postage due" (it was too rigid so they classed it as a "package"). I end up going to the post office and find that there's a really long line, but I figured since it was the holidays that's par for the course. Eventually, I get to the second spot in the line (i.e. there's only one person in front of me). I'm on my phone responding to a message while I wait, and suddenly the shift supervisor is calling me out from behind the desk for not paying attention. I ask him to repeat the question he was asking, and he asks me if I'm picking up a package (he can see I'm holding the orange slip). I answer "yes" and he tells me to skip the line and come over to him. I come over and hand him the slip. He tells me "Oh, there's $2.47 of postage due." and I say "Yes. Any idea what it is?" and he responds, snarkily, "It's the amount you owe to get your package. You need to pay it." I respond, "Yes, I know that. I meant, any idea what the package is? I'm not expecting anything." He ends up spending about 10 minutes searching for it because he has no idea where they put it (that's a bad process). Eventually he finds it, and shows it to me, but is careful not to let me have it for fear I'll just abscond with it or something. I offer to pay the postage, only now all of a sudden he says "Oh, sorry, I can't help you with that part. You'll need to wait in line for this guy." and ends up handing my package over to a clerk (let's call him "Bob") to his right who is currently handling a customer who's sending out 10 - 15 packages. So... instead of waiting for my turn in line like normal... I'm now waiting in a pseudo-line between the person who's now at the head of the line, and Bob. And, in the interim, another clerk ("Jim") frees up and tries to call me down. Except... I can't go see Jim because Bob has been given my package. I have to tell Jim to serve the next customer instead, while I try to wait patiently. Making matters even more confusing, the supervisor continues questioning each person in the line to find out if they're picking up a package. Confused, each person usually responds with something like "No, I need to ship something" or "I need to buy stamps". To which the supervisor responds "Oh, I can only help you ship a single item, but not multiple items. But I can help you buy stamps. But only if you're buying a book." Which confuses everyone in line, because some of the people closer to the front of the line who initially thought he couldn't help them now think that he can, but are now angry because he's having people from the end of the line skip the line entirely so he can help them individually. Jim frees up a SECOND time, and again tries to call me. I tell him, "Look, I can't go because Bob has my package, and I have to wait for Bob." Bob, realizing that's the issue, hands me my package, and I start to walk down to Jim to pay for it. Only, all of a sudden, the supervisor drops what he's doing and starts calling me over and saying "Wait, wait, wait, did you pay for that yet? Did you pay for that yet? Did *you* pay for *that* yet?". And I say "What? No... not yet", and then he grabs the item out of my hand and says "You can't *have this* until you *pay for it*." Basically, he's accusing me of stealing the item. At this point, I'm angry, and I tell him "Look, I *would have* paid for the item if you hadn't screwed up the whole line. Why are you taking people out of order? Why don't you just process the line in order?" and he just starts trying to dismiss me by saying "I'm sorry you had to wait. Have a nice day, sir. Sir. Have a nice day. Sir." And then he continues interrogating people in line for people he can help. I asked him "Why don't you just *clock in* to your workstation and act like a clerk?" and he says "I'm a supervisor. I'm not a clerk. And I'm not even supposed to be up front, but it's busy, so I'm helping, but I'm not able to do much." To which I responded "Why don't you just *stop*? Because people are waiting *longer* because you're messing it all up. I wouldn't have had to wait and these people over here wouldn't keep getting confused if you'd just leave things alone." Finally... to quiet me down... he hands my package to Jim, and asks him to check me out right away. Worst... postal... experience... ever. I don't understand why that supervisor can't just follow the established process. What he's doing is not fair to people who have been waiting the longest. read more

Don't bother. I called this morning for help finding a lost envelope, and the woman answering the phone could not have been more driven to get off the phone. Literally no help. I rarely give one-star reviews (I don't think I ever have?), but this one sure is worth breaking that seal. This is why the post office is a money loser. Terrible, terrible service. Just had the most infuriating interaction with a woman who works here. Short gray hair. She gave me so much attitude for no reason whatsoever over tracking. Gave me the option between certified mail or priority, I said I preferred not to do certified mail so whatever's cheapest from priority options. She pulls out a certified mail label, I remind her I said I didn't want that. She snaps at me saying "well that's what's cheapest." I remind her I want the cheapest priority option. She then crumples the certified mail label and tells me my total is $10.65, which usually when I send something tracked of this size it's around $5. I tell her that. She says "well that's what it would've been if you let me continue with certified mail." I explain that I've had tracking that IS NOT certified that's $5. She goes "Oh that's first class." ?????? You didn't give me that option so how would I know???????? Will not be interacting with her again. So nasty to me for no reason at all. I now completely understand why they are on the brink of bankruptcy. To summarize why: because they simply don't care. I just called the ithaca warren office, and some guy answered saying " what". Then I proceeded to saying " I have a question....." And he said " sorry no questions, no one is here " and hung up the phone. WHAT THE F**K IS THAT?!?! I will make sure all of my mailing needs are done by their competitors. You suck USPS. read more

a package coming to me in NJ was last seen on 12/22/18 in this post office= Ithaca, NY 14850...trying to call and no one is answering. Called 800 # and it automatically hangs up on you after entering your tracking number. Very frustrating. read more

**I posted this for the wrong post office last night. I just needed to get it off my chest before going to bed after receiving the email earlier in the evening. After a bit of research this morning, however, I learned that Warren Rd is the delivery office for my mail and, imo, the source of this snafu ('cuz it wasn't me or the sender of my packages.)** Last night I received an email from Amazon.com about my textbook and ice grip order. Apparently a failed delivery attempt was made by a local USPS on Sunday, January 10 - when the US Postal Service is closed everywhere in the country - to my UPS Store mailbox. I checked Amazon's link to see that another attempt would be made today by 8pm...but one package, my ice grips, had a tracking number associated with an order that had already been delivered in Ohio last November. Not immediately noticing the other tracking number for my second package, my books, which has a tracking number with the right information, I emailed the following complaint the night before through USPS.com's Contact Us feature (My issue number is HQ126572369.): "I just received an email from Amazon.com saying that there was a failed attempt to deliver my textbooks, which I need two weeks from now, and my ice grips - all totaling over $140. I clicked Amazon's Track Your Package link to see that another attempt would be made tomorrow by 8pm. I used my UPS Store address because I'm in a shared housing situation with people I don't know, so I rent a mailbox at the UPS Store in Ithaca. The UPS Store closes at 7pm Mon-Fri and at 4pm on Saturday. How am I going to get my stuff? Another issue is that the tracking number provided for my order is for something that WAS ALREADY DELIVERED TO SOME PLACE IN OHIO. I'm in Ithaca, NY, you guys! You guys are eff-ing my life up again. And I specifically did my best to circumvent USPS here in New York state after moving from Buffalo because of all the problems I had in B-lo for no reason whatsoever (I had to Yelp USPS Buffalo just to release the stress they put me through because of their nonsense.). I need someone to call me. I don't know from which Ithaca post office my package(s) came from, and I don't have a car or know ANYONE with a car who can take me to the Warren or Danby USPS locations, but if my packages can be left at the 213 Tioga location, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you...." Of course, I'll need to call the local USPS offices today because I know it's the best thing to do. It won't be their MLIS degree and stability on icy surfaces in jeopardy if I don't get my stuff, right? Anyway, the note on the USPS tracking page/profile for my books states that my item(s) will be held at the post office (which office, it doesn't say) for 15 days if my stuff can't be delivered to my UPS mailbox after the second attempt. Because the tracking number for the ice grips is for an already-delivered item, there's no note. Hopefully, USPS knows how to count from 1 to 15 in sequential order so they don't ship my stuff back early and I can at least get my books. #TwilightZone #USPSBeGone read more

Try to call them. They won't answer. Their job is to deliver packages yet a package that weighs 36 pounds they claim needs a "team lift". I dread anytime I see the USPS delivering. It's always sone issue. I 3nd having to drive and pick up the item becuase of some dumb reason or another. This has become just another McJob and no one cares. No accountability means we all get the shaft. read more

The people who work here are very quick, professional, and knowledgeable. They're also very patient and friendly with my talkative, rambunctious 5-year-old. I'm always amazed at how quickly the line moves here. The mail carriers who work with this branch are also very nice folks. read more

Both the downtown and Warren Road post offices in Ithaca offer excellent service. The staff are really nice, give you their full attention, and try to make the experience a good one. Yes, sometimes there are longish lines, but they generally move quickly. I have never had a negative experience with the postoffice that was the fault of anyone at these locations. read more

I have NEVER had a worse experience with a post office in my life. I am leaving Ithaca tomorrow morning and had expected my package days ago. I've been tracking it via USPS.com and signed up for their email alerts. I received one early this morning that my package was put on the truck for delivery at 6 AM. I am cautiously optimistic, knowing how much the post office has messed up before. Lo and behold it still has not shown up and their website provides no further information. I didn't even see a mail truck at any point today. Do you guys just ignore Blair Street?!? I swear I have so many problems receiving my mail here. On multiple separate occasions, I have received emails from them that my package could not be delivered due to "objects in the mailbox" or "mailbox was blocked". I went outside and looked, and my MAILBOX WAS EMPTY. Not only that but the mailboxes for the other apartments were empty. After telling them to LEAVE MY PACKAGE ANYWHERE ON MY PREMISE I DON'T CARE they finally delivered it. tl;dr Ithaca Post Office sucks so bad. NEVER EVER expect your packages to arrive on time. read more

They are really bad. I've had my mail on hold twice, and both times they still 'delivered the packages'. However, my stuff was nowhere to be found. First, why would they deliver packages if the mail is on hold??? And second, I don't think they ever delivered those packages: I live in an apartment building (700 Stewart) and seen stuff delivered to other people stay there for several weeks without being stolen. So why do my packages disappear when I put my mail on hold? Once you go to the office to ask for your stuff, they have no idea. Basically, their answer is 'if it says delivered then it was delivered....' and when you question them about delivering stuff while mail is on hold, the answer is: 'we don't have it here'.... So advice to people going on short-trips and expecting packages to be delivered: DON'T PUT YOUR MAIL ON HOLD. Somehow your package will disappear even if it contains inexpensive and totally uninteresting stuff. read more

Never expect packages to come on time, even if you get express shipping. I ordered something almost a week ago and it still hasn't come.

I actually didn't need to write a review, happened upon all the negative reviews since I was looking for their hours. I've used this mail office for passports, passport pics for kids, mailing out all kinds of things and also once to hep locate a package that was lost (turns out it was lost at the originating facility). I've never had issues with this post office or it's workers. My only complaint would be that rush hour staffing needs to be beefed up to avoid the lines but that's a common problem everywhere. read more

This post office is completely unreliable. I live in an apartment complex and twice now they have claimed to have delivered my package into my personal mailbox, but it is nowhere to be found. To top it off, today they put someone else's package into my mailbox instead of mine. They took no responsibility for losing the package. Instead, they told me over and over that it had been placed in my mailbox. I have the only key to this box. It really makes me wonder how much of my mail is not being delivered. Perhaps they should reevaluate their labeling system or their delivery people if they are unable to put the right box in the right slot. read more

Chris wang Terrible service terrible post handler (blonde lady who delivers to college town terrace needs to be held accountable) This lady had my $1,500 rerouted to a whole other address which is fraud on her behalf. She did this as a warning because I ship my items 2-3 times a week at the designated drop off area and she says I have to schedule a local pick up. This is not true, because a customer can choose if he or she wants the service or else there would not be a designated drop off area with a USPS signs with an area pointing down and tubs to place boxes in. (in reality she is too lazy to carry 1-2 small envelopes to her car a few times a week). She harasses me, throws my mail, yells at me and leaves threatening letters. My boxes frequently go missing and she is the one responsible for this. She also often asks me what is inside my packages and delivers me my mail in an open state, meaning she opens my packages. She needs to be fired. If she doesn't like her she should not be working at usps. I have provided proof to the post office and have did everything in my power to have someone talk to her and still no luck. The Ithaca post office does not care about their customers. read more

I have to say it sounds like an Ithaca post office issue. The Monroe Connecticut Post Office personnel are always courteous and very helpful; I can honestly say I've never had an issue with them. The only problem has always been that there are never enough people on the counter, and if you go to the post office after 2PM, there are long lines because people are coming from work and mailing work-related letters and packages en mass, but the people who ARE behind the counter really try hard to move it along. read more

I live on Five Mile Drive in Ithaca and we are apparently the last stop for daily deliveries. It is now after 7:00 pm and we still have not gotten our mail today. This is a daily occurrence and sometimes we don't get a delivery at all. Added to that, lately the mail is being delivered to the wrong houses. read more
