Does a good job. I had my leather garden tool belt fixed. Just the one person working there, so there may be delays.

Sole had to be raised 3/4 of an inch and he did a very nice job plus i took the shoe in late Tuesday and got my shoe back Thursday morning.

He's amazing. Rebuilt my daughters Birks to like new condition. I'm taking another pair to him today.

I dropped my Bean boots off here to be restitched and got them back the very next day in time for a trip I was taking! For just $15. I understand that people may find the owner a bit gruff, but he was perfectly helpful and efficient to me. read more

Came into to have some holes put in a leather belt... The gentleman behind the counter promptly took the belt, put two holes in, and refused to charge me! The holes were perfectly spaced! I hope I can take pair of shoes to him soon as I can tell his craftsmanship is terrific! Would defiantly recommend! read more

Looks like more than half the poor reviews are over super small charges. Like it cost $29 instead of $20, or $7 one days and $10 another. Hello? You are getting a guy with like 40 years of experience and a shop to keep up to do something for you - good luck getting a tube of shoe glue for $7, much less paying yourself the time to do it. I learned a lot from the reviews actually - mostly that his prices are super reasonable! I have a pair of $300 Danner work boots and some leather shoes that need new heels - stuff that would cost a pretty penny to replace and then would take a year to break in. I need my shoes fixed because I could not replace them (nor would I want to) for less than $100. So yeah, $29 doesn't sound too bad. Maybe you can find some new $20 shoes at Walmart and see how long they last. read more

Even though it is true that the owner is somewhat grumpy - yes he is one grumpy old man in the making - I am glad this store is in town where I can take my beat-up LL Bean slippers for a fix, diverting them out of landfill. The hole in my slipper was in a tricky place, so I wasn't sure if he could fix it - and he did! by adding a pretty cool patch on my slipper - I love it, like I'm so proud to wear this slipper down until its very end. I was willing to pay $15 for his work as he suggested. Let's say if he worked for an hour - then he pays for materials, and also for maintenance of equipment, and rent for the business location. $15 is a very good price. It's really nothing. Way beats shelling out another $70 for a new pair of wicked good slippers AND adding more of my waste to landfill especially any plastic parts (fleece inside the slipper, bottom, etc). If you have money to pay for all the junks you accumulate in your household, you can pay $15 for this valuable service. The owner seemed to lighten up seeing my delight finding the patched slipper. He deserves some praise when it's due. Maybe it will help him be less grumpy and a little more cheerful, and the business to prosper. read more

Got the Vans I've worn every day for 4 years repaired here. The soles and heel were completely trashed. I brought them in to see if he could repair them, and he did! They look sick and feel like new. Also, it was a breeze both times I went in, the owner is cool. read more

Took 2 pair of Johnson Murphy's that needed to be resoled first time I have ever done this. Called before I stopped by (do this because of limited operating hours). He answered my questions, I went immediately to the store. Dropped off my shoes and picked the 3 days later. Craftsmanship was excellent. Gent was pleasant and I would recommend this business to anyone. There are not a lot cobblers around and he knows his stuff. read more

It's a one man craftsman shop. He's the guy Cobbler's Cottage will refer you to if you need any shoe repair. He closes up at 5 on the weekdays and it's best to call for weekend hours. I took in 3 stilettos worn down past the studs on a Friday afternoon and picked them up in the morning. He did an excellent job of repairing the damaged leather on the heels and the damaged stud base. The price was ~$12-$15 depending on the type. He also was repairing hundreds of men's leather shoes. He really knows how to fix up a worn pair of shoes, especially leather ones. read more

I brought a pair of my mom's boots in to be recolored, with specific instructions that I didn't want polish used.. only oil. That is the manufacturers recommendation to preserve their water resistance. When I went to pick them up, he had only oiled them-no color. He argued with me, said polish would have been fine, and was really rude. He charged me $10 just to oil them and kept going on about how he'd been doing this for 40 years and knew what he was doing. So if you want to get yelled at and overcharged by someone who didn't do what you asked, go to Aurora. read more

I've taken my dance shoes in here for a simple glue job two times, and in neither case were the shoes properly fixed, the soles detaching again after only a couple of uses each time. The third time, I took the shoes to Cobbler's Cottage and they've been excellent ever since. If they can't glue a sole on right, I find it unlikely they'll be able to handle a more complex repair. Use the Cottage or Fontana's instead. read more

We took three pairs of shoes in, all in pretty bad states of disrepair but all good quality shoes: a pair of Bluntstones, a pair of Redwings and my tall riding boots that needed new zippers. One week later, we came back to pick up our goods: they all look fantastic, beautiful job on three pairs of shoes. My boots will last me another twenty years, my son's Redwings are in great shape for another twenty, and my daughter's Bluntstones have been completely refurbished. The owner of the shop was so nice and clearly knows what he is doing. In this age of trying to reuse what we can, you would be surprised what can be done for shoes. I would have thought all three of these were destined for the bin, but they are now really nice. Was this cheap cheap? No. But it was not expensive either. A new pair of riding boots of this quality would cost me over a grand and for $80, I got beautiful new zippers and had the finish redone. I honestly can not imagine how any thinking person could give this business anything other than five stars. I am beyond thrilled. And I will add, I have been going here for years. ALWAYS satisfied. I have always been satisfied when I visit Aurora. They have replaced zippers in my riding boots, which take a lot of wear and tear. The other day I went in, and they fixed the zipper, free of charge - the slider just needed to be tightened. Good people, good business. read more

This guy should be reported to the Better Business Bureau! He's a dishonest crook. I phoned to ask how much he charges to replace boot heels. $20 fair enough. When I picked up my boots he charged $29...ok, I didn't argue. I wore the boots twice, just to work, not out dancing or hiking, and noticed the heels wearing down. 3 months later they fell off. I took my boots to him yesterday, and he said it wasn't his work, he doesn't use that rubber to replace heels (btw, what he put on my boots did not match the original heels, and caused the boots to feel a little strange). He also said he wouldn't charge $29, but only $25 (another lie), I said I wasn't lying and got angrier than I've been in a long time. He refused to acknowledge that he put those heels on (a total lie!) and said he'd replace them for $15. I said maybe small claims court, he said he's not afraid he's been there before (gee, I wonder why). Maybe he does a good job sometimes, but he's a cheat and a liar and I am going to take further action. Also he glued a shoe in the past, and charged me $7. It quickly came unglued, and he charged me $10 to fix it. Said he was in a good mood for the $7 charge. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! read more
