I honestly don't remember the last time I needed a stamp, but I'm just starting a new fundraising event and happened to get a donation by check (NOTE: I also don't remember the last time I used a check). While our snack shop at work typically carries stamps, they've been out for a bit and I finally made my way over here. It's pretty convenient as it's adjacent to the Target in Nora. It's simple to park at Target and just wheel on over to this branch. Like most branches, this has a private parking lot for delivery trucks. While I've seldom seen this branch without a line, parking is for the most part plentiful and there are a handful of accessible parking spots with a sidewalk that is level to the ground. This is an older branch for sure, however, per most federal requirements it does meet ADA (though I'd say it's on the low-end of ADA). Doors are not automatic. There's a double-sided entry that takes you into an area with quite a few mailboxes (for rent) along with a self-service kiosk. If you turn right, you get another set of double-doors where you can get customer service (or some version of it) and two more self-serve kiosks. They also sell lots of shipping supplies in here. The self-serve kiosks work pretty well, though one of the three was out of order today. This branch does all the basics - shipping, mailing, passport photos, sales (stamps/shipping/etc.), money orders, etc. As several have noted, customer service here is hit-and-miss. It's occasional quite good. Occasionally not. The lobby is open 24-hours and, as noted, there's a self-serve kiosk in the lobby (though today it was the one not working). Love the self-serve kiosks. Everything else here is a mid-range experience and practically the definition of it. Oddly enough, though, this is still one of my preferred branches and there's no doubt I'd return on those rare occasions when I need traditional mail services. read more

Incredibly rude staff here. I walked in to renew my passport and they wouldn't let me even though I called and made sure I could with my supporting documentation from a name change. As I walked out, another customer made the same comment about how rude and horrible their experience was. read more

Had the same horrible experience I had the last time I tried to use this post office. why do postal workers get to treat people how ever they want? Is there any kind of management for these entitled not giving a care people? If you hate your job you can quit. You don't have to stay on just to try to make everyone else as miserable as you are. I have been here on some bad days but this time I got some real good post office help. Patricia and the staff listened to me and took my issue seriously. The apartment management I am working with had with had neglected my begs for them to change my locks and get me keys yet they let a month pass without getting it done. The post office told me it was the managements responsibility and that because I wasn't the owner of the property I could not be involved. Thankfully Patricia took it upon herself to remind the management the next day so that they had to take action on getting my and other residents their locks. Thanks again Patricia! I'm sure if everyone here knew what you did they would say the same. read more

Nothing much I can really say about the post office, except I went to get stamps to mail out some letters through the kiosk and it was very user-friendly. The line at the post office was long as it always is, and the staff did appear to be very helpful and professional. The post office has definitely stepped up their game lately. The staff is professional and they go the extra mile to make sure the package is sent properly to the final destination. My experience has been great lately at the post office, and I hope to continue to have a good experience at the post office going forward. read more

There are never enough postal service workers working the front counters on weekends but the ones that do are helpful, patient and quick. If you need a passport for a child you can make a reservation online for this location. For a free they will even take a picture (child or adult). The lady helping us last Saturday was very knowledgeable on what we should fill out on the form for our newborn and what we should keep blank. It was a smooth process. Pro tip: the post office has greeting cards that are nice quality and a good variety. read more

Had a box to mail out to a friend. Was crossing all appendages that a self serve machine was actually working. Lots of cars in the parking area at 1:30ish. Walked in and thank the gods that the machine in the entry was working. Got my box posted and also bought stamps. I was going to drop my box in the big metal container next to the machine but it wouldn't open. So I had to make my way inside past a crowd of people to drop my box in a bin behind the counter. But again at least the self serve machine was actually working. read more

If you are looking for a fark, you will not find one. There are no farks given here. Five minutes, one hour ... time doesn't mean anything once you step inside this building. It's perfectly normal for a line to form, eight people deep, and yet there is not a single person behind the counter. It's like watching a magic show. "I could have sworn I saw someone there a minute ago, but they disappeared into thin air." Where did they go? Will they ever come back? I need to buy Christmas stamps, which should take no more than one minute -- why is it taking the man 10 minutes to ring me up? Is this another magic trick? Apparently there are still places that can sell things to the public, but only if you pay with cash or check. This post office is one of them. Nope, no credit -- the machine is broken. They're still waiting for the part to come in. When will it come in? Who knows. Does it matter? One day, twenty days, 400 days -- it's all the same here. They do have Christmas stamps with birds on them here, though. So there's that. read more

I had to mail a package. The lady two people in front of me was so mean to the fella working. He took it with Grace. The next lady was returning a letter inadvertently dropped off at her house. She thanked him for his service. Next was me. He treated me with a smile. Called me by my name (it was on my shirt). He explained a few things to me. Great experience. I had a horrible experience at this location. They are currently holding my mail while our PO Box lock gets changed. When I asked about a particular package that was delivered for me, the worker scoffed and said "What makes you think it's here?" After I replied that I was notified it was delivered to that location, she said "So you just came here to waste my time and guess it was here?" Sorry you hate your life so much, friend. Sigh - it's so hard to have multiple and consecutive stellar experiences at this location. Sure, someone said hello and thank you at least once but after the fact that I waited in a 10-deep line of angry patrons to only get an eye roll and attitude filled tone. I am grateful for self-kiosks but every now and then I have a special circumstance that I actually need to talk to a human about. There is never sense of urgency and everything I ask seems to be an inconvenience to their day. Passport line is not labeled and everyone is just yelling across the room to each other. read more

I send quite a few packages through USPS regularly for my online business. I'm pretty familiar with the process of sending a package, paperwork, prices, etc. This is the first time a USPS employee made me feel like a total idiot about it. My local post office is the New Augusta branch, but I was on this side of town, AND it was 10 minutes before close. I usually use the kiosk in the lobby, but you can't send international packages through those. Bummer. So I ran in, filled out my customs form, and got in line. When I gave my package to the clerk, he said that I filled out the customs form wrong, so he made me fill out another one. I'd never had an issue with filling out this simple form before, so I was taken aback by his request. The address was long, so a lot of it wouldn't fit. He complained that I needed to write it smaller, then just scoffed at me and said, "You know what, forget it". Slammed the form down on the counter and started typing in the address, shaking his head. I know I was there right before close which was my fault, but I won't take responsibility for rudeness. If it was such an issue, them he should have better explained the purpose of refilling out the customs form. If I knew why, then I would have happily fixed the issue. Sadly, all I got was attitude. I think I'll just save myself the stress and continue patronising my local USPS branch. read more

I've always had good customer experience here. The wait is never too long, the service is very friendly and they always have a good supply of stamps and other postal items. Last week I was able to obtain 10 books of the new totally cool Peanuts stamps (giving some as gifts) and 40 International forever stamps. This is the worst post office I have ever been to in the entire United States. I am not exaggerating. I will admit I haven't stepped foot in this post office in a couple months because I literally feel pain when I walk in this building. I will drive out of my way to go to the post office downtown (MLK area), Brownsburg, Carmel or Castleton. Any of those are worth the drive just to not have to experience the pain that is the Nora post office. I will review the other post offices in the area as well, but this one needs to shut down and start over again. Maybe they should get training from the post office employees in other locations... Quick overview: Brownsburg - Fantastic! Employees are so helpful and move quickly. Carmel - Hours aren't that great, but helpful employees and not a long wait. Castleton - Busy place, great hours, employees are very nice. Downtown (MLK area) - Employees are angels. They have to deal with not as nice customers (overall, generally speaking) and they go above and beyond to be helpful. Nora - Pain of my life. Only go here when I have to pick up a package. Employees are less than helpful. They upsell customers and they are slow as can be. Also, the only place in the world (I'm including foreign countries where I've mailed things) the only place to ever lose mail that I've sent. read more

This is pretty bad Post Office branch. The Nora branch has got to be the busiest and smallest branch I've ever seen. It serves two humongous zip codes (46240 and 46260) from Township Line Road to Allisonville in the east/west, and from 96th Street until somewhere north of Broad Ripple going north/south - basically, all of Washington Township. However, to have one or two people on duty at any given time, when you serve a population that is as big as some cities, is quite the EPIC FAIL. There is ALWAYS a line of people who are incredulous as to how inefficient this post office is and how long the line wait is. Why is this Post Office so inefficient, you ask? Because the "employees" answer to no one! No one can get fired here. They just look like they are busy (walking around with nothing in hand) or tell people that their register is closed or just appear out of nowhere and ask if anyone is picking up a package, otherwise they cannot help now. They don't worry about helping the customer, because the Post Office is a monopoly. Where are the customers going to go? Nowhere because the next nearest post office is pretty far, and somewhat of a hassle to get to. Basically, the attitude at this post office is: You're gonna get screwed by us, so we're gonna make sure it is done as painstakingly slow as possible! read more

Told Bridgette that I am trying to track a package that's been "out for delivery since April 20th" and now shows "forwarded" so I need to know where it's at. She asked me if I tracked it online because I could do that myself. I told her that's how I got that information & if she was listening she'd know that. She then told me to get out of her line. Despite repeated complaints, the deliverers continuously mis-deliver and lose important mails, including paychecks that people depend on. At the office, you are greeted by a grumpy old man that makes your visit as worthless as his demeanor. The manager that I got to interact with, seems nice but powerless. read more

I've since found this location. BUT... The lines are always long. They typically have one or (if you're lucky) two workers at the counter. If you enjoy being talked down to then this is the place to go! From the second I've walked into here both times the employees do everything in their power to show that they don't want you there, rolling their eyes, talking down on you, and looking at you like you shouldn't be there. Yeah when you ask for help they do little to help you. I went in today looking for a package that 1. Tracking said it was there and 2. I had talked to customer care the day before who told me I could go in and get it considering I'd been trying to get it the past 2 weeks and they had misplaced it and it wasn't moving. The guy there asked me the same question over and over and so when I went on my phone to show him he said "I don't care what that phone says" and some lady was told to help me. With attitude in the way she stomped, threw her hands and rolled her eye and a half as well as talked to me. I was talked to as if I wasn't a human being with emotions and feelings as she irritatedly told me it wasn't there and her system said differently than my tracking. (Weird since my tracking said it was there and hers said it hadn't gotten there yet so somethings even off in their own system). Needless to say this will be the last time I use this service. FedEx and ups are much politer and deliver way faster. read more

Seen other reviews here how ever I didn't experience poor service or long lines it was at around noon on Saturday plenty of staff there and they were friendly and curious to all the people there which I would say maybe 1 family and 2 other adults I was in and out I less the 5 minutes maybe why changed there staff since previous reviews because as post offices go this place deserves a shining star !! read more

Poor parking layout, there are often jams. I have been here once during business hours (slow service) and once using the self-serve kiosk. The bin to place your package after using the self-serve kiosk was broken! And so after addressing some packages I had to take them to another post office! Ridiculous. read more

The carrier is the worst. He used his government issued lazer scanner to shoot through the closed window of my house at my dog, repeatedly. I was sitting right there. I complained and though now my carrier is apparently no longer trying to harm and harrass my dog, this is how he delivers my priority mail packages, with them wedged on the open back door of my mailbox with other mail still inside. read more

Let me start by saying this I have never mailed a package before and was looking to send my mom a gift for Valentine's day. As soon as I walked in, a man yelled at me from across the room asking me if I had postage for my package. I said that I did not, and that I needed a shipping label. He said that they do not do shipping labels and that I need to write the address on the box. I went ahead and did this, and then stepped into line to wait to pay for the postage. Just before it was my turn at the counter another checkout opened up across the room, and the cashier, Tammy, yelled for me to come forward. I handed her my package and she held it with disgust and said, "The first thing wrong with this is that you wrote the address in the incorrect spot." I attempted to reply by saying I had never mailed a package before and was going to ask her for assistance but she interrupted me. She was the incredibly rude with me and showed me where I needed to write the address again. I did as she asked and then stepped forward once more. She looked at my package and then hung her head and shook her head. She said you are not understanding what I am saying, I again attempted to repeat that I had never mailed a package before and again asked her for help, but I was interrupted again. She then said to me that the only thing I could do at this point was get a shipping label, which I had asked for in the first place and was told by the man I could not have one. She handed me a shipping label and told me to write it but not put it on the box. So for the third time I wrote the address this time on the shipping label and handed both label and package to Tammy. She put the label on the box and then placed it on what I'm assuming is a scale. And then told me after the fact that the label was going to cost more. Thoroughly disappointed and and shocked with how rudely I was being treated I just agreed to the cost and put my card in the machine. She very rudely told me to take it out and wait. Tammy then asked me a jumbled sentence of what I am assuming is what is inside the package. I did not understand a single word she said. She then told me to answer the question on the pin pad. So I read what I'm assuming is what she said to me. I pressed no. Then I paid for the package. As I was leaving, she overhand threw my package into a bin across the room. God forbid if something fragile was in that package it would have been broken instantly. Thankfully it was not fragile, and I hope that this place will learn from this, and learn to treat their customers with respect and as humans. Unfortunately this is the only post office that I can go to because of my ZIP Code. I hope that the next time I have to mail something I do not get treated so poorly. read more

I have lived in Nora for 7 years. I love this post office. I have always had friendly service. Yes there are lines but they try to weed out simple purchases to a seperate line. They also try to help people use the self service thingy as well. Customer service people are calm and take the time to go over options, so it may seem like it takes a long time but the will spend the same amount of time on yoy. Could there be a group of more incompetent, unreliable, rude individuals? I'm in disbelief at how horribly ran this post office is. I know government employees often get a bad rep for being lazy & slow but Nora's post office takes this stereotype to a whole new level! So back story... it's been over a month since I've received mail at my address. Why? I have no idea! I've called... several times!! After an hour long phone call (the first time) about 2 weeks ago, I was told to put my name in the mailbox and was assured this would solve the problem. As Christmas approached, family members kept telling me their cards were getting returned. Also, my bills were getting returned. I call again and was told the supervisor isn't on & to call back the next day. I call back, and was ONCE AGAIN told the supervisor was busy & to call back in 30 mins. Guess what y'all? I've still yet to be in contact with the supervisor after calling back 30 mins later. Why? Because this group is incompetent & sorry excuses for employees. Not to mention after calling back several more times, attempting to reach the supervisor, I was told I have done everything I'm supposed to do but it would still be at least 2 weeks to sort out! Literally the worst experience ever. I scheduled to pick up my package at the post office. I get there and give them my info the lady at the counter takes 15 minutes before she comes back. When she comes back she starts helping another customer instead of talking to me. When I ask if something is wrong she tells me that my package got delivered to my house. Even though I showed her my confirmation that I had scheduled a pick up. She dismisses me and doesn't even apologize for the mix up. read more

I had a package delivered from Japan, but I was not at home to receive it. A delivery note was left which seemed to indicate that it would be redelivered at a later date. However, when I tried to pick it up five days later, I learned that my package had been sent back to the sender that very day. On the delivery note, there is a box that, when checked, indicates that the package will be returned if not picked up, but this box was blank. Additionally, they gave me no options for how this situation could be rectified. Altogether, this was an extremely frustrating experience. read more

It's like the people that work there know that this place is awful as well, so politeness is thrown out the door and tasks at hand take as slowly as possible, because they realize the slower their actions, the faster their day will go. This place is the pit of Hell. After waiting for 10 minutes for the passport clerk, she left for lunch. We had to wait an additional 15 minutes for the other clerk to return from lunch because of the way the supervisor runs the lunch schedule. Meanwhile there are three employees standing around doing nothing. Perhaps they too should be trained to issue passports. When I mentioned that this is poor customer service, the supervisor snottily told me I could go elsewhere. This is my second bad experience with the passport process at this branch. There is NOWHERE else but a post office where employees can give such patently bad service and not be fired. read more
